Small-Batch Distiller Bo & Ivy Calls It Quits in Ivy City - Eater DC

"Bo & Ivy, Ivy City’s veteran-owned and woman-operated distiller with a classy cocktail room, will cease to exist at the end of March. Its dedicated bar, along with spirits tastings and distillery tours, are all done, effective immediately. “Challenging economic headwinds and difficulties securing distribution” led to the ultimate decision to shut down, per a statement from the company on Tuesday, February 13. Spirits will continue to be made and sold on-site through March 31." - Tierney Plumb

Nice low key kind of spot. The staff are really friendly and it’s tucked away which gives it an element of exclusivity. They really did a great job on their drink menu. My friend and I are already planning our next visit! Also- their 2 year aged whiskey drops in early 2023. We got a sneak peek and I’m looking forward to the release!

Wonderful intimate atmosphere and excellent cocktails made with their own craft spirits. It's like your own private speakeasy. Quickly becoming the new best place in DC

Great place to get a cocktail and try in-house distilled vodka, gin & whiskey or bourbon. We felt the vodka was smooth out of the flight we tried. The drinks are unique and delicious. They do tours only on the weekend, If you plan ahead, you can enjoy the walk through and know process of how they distill their liquor which was fun to know. Definitely would recommend.

This place has a bit of a sketchy entrance but don’t let that detour you! Great drinks and the bartenders are amazing! The drinks are classy and the vibe is low key. Don’t skip over this place when in the DC area.

We went here two weeks ago and LOVED it. The owner was incredible and showed us the facility. Both the alcohol-- and spot itself-- is a unique flavor that you can't find anywhere else in DC. They make all their own stuff and are some of the nicest people on earth. The tasting room is hidden a bit but WELL worth it. GO!

Awesome spot - the care that this new distillery puts into the spirits they make and the cocktails served is evident from the get-go. The team there is very friendly, welcoming, and eager to explain anything you might have questions about. I couldn't choose a favorite from anything I tried... All were impressive. Important to support these kinds of places in the DC area that are just getting off the ground and have clearly put in the work!

This is one of the best kept secrets in DC. The cocktail room is a little tucked away - it's small but has beautiful interior design. The cocktails were INCREDIBLE. Most importantly, though, was the hospitality. Everyone here was kind and courteous, going above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. I'll absolutely be back.

felt fancy/almost speak easy style while we were there! GREAT, complex drinks, and fun to see all the machinery.

Yelp
Looks like they closed down. Door was locked during hours they are supposed to be open. No one answered the door or the phone. No way to book the tour they used to have. Too bad- was a nice place.

Yelp
Started during the pandemic distilling corn whiskey, gin, and vodka next to Atlas Brewery in Ivy City, Bo & Ivy is veteran-owned. Selling their goods online and in a few local stores, they recently opened a speakeasy inside their distillery open Thursday through Sunday. A buddy and I went on a Thursday around 8:15 p.m. Here's our experience. 1) Drinks: Their menu includes nine cocktails and three Halloween-themed cocktails. (We went in October.) To start, I ordered a "French 76-" their version of a French 75. My second drink was a bartender's choice. Liking more sweet drinks, I enjoyed them both! 2) Price: Cocktails are $11-$12. Not bad in an expensive city. And the pours are healthy. 3) Service: The bartender and one of the owners behind the bar were very nice. They struck the right balance between being friendly and letting us catch up on our own. 4) Space: The entrance is very much a distillery and the maze you're taken on is a fun little game. The speakeasy itself is dimly lit with a few tables and a long bar. It's simple, yet attractive. 5) Parking: We easily found street parking out front in the evening.

Yelp
Bo & Ivy Distillers is an amazing new gem in Ivy City. This no-frills spot is sure to take the D.C. cocktail scene by storm. My husband, friend and I went for opening weekend this past Saturday and had the best service from Joe. He happily explained their aging process and was such a delight to speak with. We really loved the unique menu and I, myself, happily enjoyed 4 of their cocktails. Each one had a unique profile and I was surprised at how much I loved their whiskey, which is usually not my preferred spirit. My favorites were the Chocolate Chelsea (vodka, orange curacao, creme de cacao, mint, lime, and egg white) and Jungle Bird (corn whiskey, campari, orgeat, pineapple, lemon, and freshly grated nutmeg). Not only were these well-crafted cocktails, they were also incredibly well-priced for D.C. We had a number of drinks and our bill before tip was under $100. Where in D.C. can you have 8 high-end quality cocktails for under $100? Bo & Ivy is definitely going to be my new spot- good vibes, great service, unpretentious, and tasty drinks.
