I hesitated giving 5 stars because I haven't been inside...but the sandwiches were really good! I don't really expect much from sandwich joints because, heck, they're sandwiches. So I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked them.
This is located in the shopping plaza (Costa Mesa Shopping Square?) at the corner of Harbor Boulevard and Baker Street. This is a fairly big plaza with a Target, Sprouts, and lots of other eateries and some small stores (and a gas station). Board & Brew is off of Harbor next to Starbucks. I wasn't familiar with this place, but I guess there are multiple locations around Southern California.
My family and I ordered on their website and hubs went in to pick it up so I didn't get a chance to go inside and experience their service. Our order was packed up and ready to go in a timely manner (then again, it was around 4:30pm-ish on a Wednesday so it was pretty empty).
We ordered the chicken club ($11.95), beef dip ($11.95), Baja beef ($14.95), roast beef spicy ($12.50), and a couple of potato salads ($3.00ea). Sooo, I underestimated the spiciness of the jalapeño peppers...they had a lot more kick than expected so I was panting (mind you that hubs had no problem so it really depends on a person's tolerance level). With that being said, my Baja beef sandwich was yummy. The bread was soft, and the beef, onions, peppers, and cheese were pretty much filled from one end to the other. Mine didn't come with au jus, but my kid didn't use hers so I did and ended up drinking it like soup. I didn't even need the secret sauce. Everyone like their sandwich as well. Even the potato salad was good...which also helped cool down the heat in my mouth.
Definitely will check out other locations that may be closer to me.
