This place has that Beach town vibe and here is why you will love it: 1. The food is great! But more impressively, this shop is a well oiled machine, because trust me when I say, this place was packed with people ordering lunch. Despite how busy it was they got our order no problem and it came out relatively fast. 2. Plenty of space to find a seat to eat, I think the hardest point of access was just finding parking. It was busy on new years day so I'm assuming there were more people than normal to be fair. 3. Awesome surf vibe. Spotted some Dragon and Rusty stickers that I have not seen in years. Also a dragonball sticker. Overall just a really cool place. Overall the Board and Brew in Del Mar was a perfect place to stop and get some food. I would definitely recommend if you need something fast and you are on the go. Check out my photos to get a sense of the space.

The BEST sandwich shop in Del Mar. We love their sandwiches and so do our kids. Lots of seating, opens early (10am) and staff are wonderful. Sergio took care of us when we were here. We’ve come here twice in less than 24hrs because the sandwiches are that good.

This is the place you want to eat at. Hands down one of the best sandwich shops I’ve enjoyed. In fact it rivals my favorite hole in the wall shop in Hawaii. Prices are great and the food is even better. Best of all, they play great music and the staff is having a good time. You can tell they enjoy working there, lots of laughter when I was in. Go in, support a local small business and leave happy. Thanks for the great meal and service. I will be back!

Board & Brew is kind of your no frills or thrills sandwich shop but boy do they know how to make a great sandwich. They have a certain surfer aesthetic to them and got started by catering to the locals but now have tons of locations throughout though the quality is amazing. All the sandwich choices here looked and sounded tasty so you really can’t go wrong. Each order also comes with a side of their signature sauce which wasn’t too hot but rather sweet and tangy so I thought it paired nicely with the meats. Parking at this location is a little tough as it’s super busy but once you find a spot and order you can usually get a table inside or out. Very chill spot to spend a lunch!

The Turkado (toasted) is hands down the best sandwich!!! Service was great and the special orange sauce offered to us to try was so nice with the sandwich. The Italian sub was just okay - the cured meat was too salty for me and the bread didn’t hit the same way as the other sandwich. I would 1000% get another Turkado next time!

Good sandwiches and nice people. Not enough searing and a cattle call to get your food that you can only hear if standing like sardines inside. That being said the wai ia worth it and we'll be back for sure.

Love this chain, but it's the first time I've been to this specific spot. Food is always amazing and the restaurant itself was cute with nice outdoor seating. Employees were really friendly as well. About an 8 minute walk to the beach.

San Diego staple and OG spot for sandwiches! If you haven't tried it yet, you are missing out. Eat it there, or take it to go (beach lunch or sunsets are right there). My faves are the Turkado or the Baja Chicken. I have also seen the double decker - but only select that if you have a large appetite. If you like sauces try the house sauce, they now sell bottles of it. Oh and the squaw bread it delicious. If you you think there will be a long line - call in you order. You will be glad you did! This is a very casual walk up and order at the counter spot. Shirts and shoes please but beach goers are here all the time.

Great sammies! Turkado was our favorite. Just perfect bread, great portions of everything on the Sammie. Wonderful flavor. Also had the chicken club and it was really, really good too. Great service. Fast and friendly. Ambience? Uh.....nope. More like "attitude" -- as the shop is not pretending to be anything but a sandwich shop. When are y'all opening a store in North Carolina?

Luckily this time I didn't get the guy who was rushing and yelling loudly while I ordered. But I did encounter him, he questioned if I was paying with cash or card-- although I was unsure since I didn't know the price of what I was ordering. Because of how he was last time, I said card and so got another worker. He was chill. Before ordering, he asked for my name and then the order. I got the Turkey Club (turkey breast, bacon, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, & mayo on French Bread), I asked for No Cheese, it turned out to be $11.50. After paying there wasn't an option for a Reciept (like no print or text msg choice on the screen). To me it seemed like everyone else was waiting for their sandwiches. There wasn't many people behind me like usual, this was around 3:20 pm. When they called my name, they handed me the sandwich nicely wrapped in a bag and gave me a few napkins. I walked to Del Mar City Hall to eat it and found out they didn't add mayo to any side of the bread. This made the sandwich so dry and difficult to get down. The tomatoes were scarcely sliced as well. I haven't drank from drinking fountains since middle school but in order to get through this sandwich I HAD to. That's how dry this sandwich was. Also, they have a "secret sauce" that I find to be quite sweet and do not enjoy -- but others love it. They are fast at making the sandwiches but maybe they need to slow down since the quality they brought out wasn't very good. (: price is a little bit high for a sandwich, but I guess it's better than some areas in Del Mar.

Tried and true for Del Mar. Over the years I've catered with them for work. Our favorite is the Baja chicken with sauce. I have been a customer for over 20 years and it's still one of my favorites.

What to order: - Turkado (sub squaw bread instead of sourdough) + side of special sauce = incredible - Chicken club + avocado was also very good Tips: - Call ahead or order online for pickup since it gets busy at peak times (esp. weekends) - Park in the a small lot behind the building and come through the back entry (since there's limited street parking in the front)

The food is good here. We got a tuna sandwich. The service is good when you walk up to a counter. And there is a small line because the food is good. The ambience is very casual.

I ordered a California Delight with no mayonnaise at the counter, and they asked for my name. I gave it to them, and ~15 minutes passed and they still had not called my name. I asked them if a California Delight with no mayonnaise was ready, and it had been sitting on the back counter. They had called out everyone else's order, so I was confused as to why mine was not called out. On my order receipt, it said "Called In", which was strange because I ordered at the counter. This is the main reason why I docked stars on the rating. The food itself was pretty enjoyable, the sunflower seeds provided a nice crunch that made the sandwich a lot better than what it would have been without. The cream cheese was also nice, not too heavy. Parking in Del Mar is always a little difficult, so there may be some trouble with that. The bathrooms are a little run down. Free water cups are provided. Overall, the food was pretty good, but the service was disappointing.

Solid sandwich, lots of variety to select from. I like their special sauce.Service was superrr busy, very long line. Just plan ahead for that. For the actual sandwich I think we waited like 15-20min so not very fast for a sandwich place but I'm guessing they were backlogged on preparing orders. Loved the laid back ambiance.

love this spot. You cannot go wrong with the sandwiches but i get the Turkado and the special sauce is a must. Pricing was very reasonable for the amount of food and the service was 10/10. There is also outdoor seating and a great space to bring dogs.

After spending the morning at Del Mar dog beach and being in the sun, was craving a fresh sando. Just 4 minutes down the road in Del Mar Village, it was a quick stop on the way home. Depending on the time of day, parking can be a little tough, but it's worth it! I've been to their Mira Mesa location, but it was fun to know that Board & Brew originated in Del Mar. There is both indoor and outdoor seating , very causal environment. The front area is a little small so it can be a little confusing who is line to order and who is waiting for their order. Once you order they yell your name and come bagged whether you're staying or leaving. I got California Delight and potato salad. The sandwiches are big and stuffed. Don't forget to get the secret sauce because it really does it bring it all together and I poured it on everything!

Canned craft beers from local breweries and sandwiches. What else you need? I waited for 2 minutes for my order to come out. Simply delicious. Really cool vibes as well.

So glad this place still slaps. Stopped in on a trip home to SD last week and was so glad i did. now if only they had a location in seattle!!

Eating a late lunch today is like experiencing the perfect summer day in Del Mar/San Diego. Cool music playing just the right amount of decibels; not too crowded; friendly and knowledgeable staff; wood ceiling planks and fans reminding me of the South Pacific; stickers plastered on one wall and loving the surf board displaying the name of this place on another wall..easy hang out. Sandwich -tub of tuna, excellent serving size for the price and mighty tasty. Got mine minus the tomato . My kids have been coming to this place since middle school and now they are young adults . This place is ageless. Happiness. Love.

You know how they say a ham and cheese sandwich on wonder bread hits different after being in the pool? Well this is the upgrade- after the beach go get a sandwich here. Their house sauce (not pictured) was so delicious and amazing. It was the ideal meal after a long day at the beach. I'm knocking a star because I didn't feel very welcomed there as someone out of town and felt very rushed, luckily I got a crowd favorite. I also wish they were open later. Overall the ideal beach sandwich!!

Good food - when you can get it. Not the most polite folks either. These guys need to significantly improve their methods. Ordered online 20 minutes away. After arriving, they yelled "30 Minute Wait For Online Orders!" Took them 50 minutes to make 2 sandwiches from The time we placed our order. Waste of time. Should have gone to Jersey Mikes instead.

This place is really cute and in the heart of Del Mar. parking can be a little challenging but even on a Saturday I found parking right down the street. It is small inside but there's outdoor seating as well. They have so many great combinations in their sandwiches. I got the California delight (Turkey breast, cream cheese, roasted unsalted sunflower seeds, sprouts, lettuce, tomato, & mayo on sweet wheat bread) it was soooo good! I will definitely have to come back. They also have an easy pickup window inside on the left if you're in a rush and don't have time for the lines or people.

Del Mar is a perfect place to spend a sunny day. After a night in Del Mar, we stopped by board n brew for brunch. It's been a good 5 years since I've been here and I totally forgot how affordable and refreshing these sandwiches are. I looked up how to make a copycat sauce and will be trying it out ASAP. I couldn't remember what my usual order was until I got it and realized the turkey was a bit salty for me. I got the California delight, but what I really love is the vegi supreme. I love the sprouts and avocado and special sauce combination. Love the no frill service with to-go style lunch bags. There's not a whole lot of seating in the back patio and front area but turnaround time is quick with sandwiches.

The middle aged late 40 year old looking employee at this location is EXTREMELY rude!!!!!!!!! I placed an online order which said it'd be ready in 10, I watched the To-Go shelves for 20 minutes, looked at all the bags (multiple times), and didn't see my order. I went up to this employee, he looked at me and ignored me, and when I said excuse me and politely asked if he could possibly look into it, he didn't even respond and ignored me again. Another kind employee helped me out, but unfortunately my order was also not even correct. Terrible customer service from the unc employee.

Good sandwich store. There are several places, but my favorite is in Del Mar. It feels really laid back. The style is extremely Californian. It has the vibe of a sandwich shop on the beach straight out of a movie. It's the ideal informal get-together for lunch or an outing with pals. Everything that I've ordered from them has lived up to my expectations. Their sandwiches taste incredibly good and are healthier, which is something I really like. In addition, the sandwiches are great for taking on the move! They don't become drenched. When I was there last, I ordered the Turkado, which is a turkey sandwich. I asked for it without mayo, and it was actually pretty good! It was already loaded with avocado and taste! Another one of my favorites is the baja wrap, which is a wrap with avocado and marinated chicken. I've tried Turkey Deluxe and California Delight among other turkey sandwiches, and they were pretty good! I haven't tried any sandwiches with bacon because I detest the stuff and think it takes away a lot of the flavor that is intended for the sandwich combo.

The sandwiches are always very fresh and their board n brew sauce is a nice addition. Actually it's a necessity because I've definitely had some of their sandwiches without sauce (tom's choice) and boy was it dry. Usually pretty packed inside with limited tables, so you can take it to-go and enjoy the nice ocean views! I recommend the turkado or california delight for a simple but delicious sandwich. I gave them 4 stars because the cashiers begged me to pay with cash lol it would be fine but they kept asking me despite me telling them I didn't carry any cash... and then seemed very disappointed.

I think most people know that the sandwiches are always outstanding but what they may not know is how outstanding their support staff is. I want to specifically thank Sergio for stepping up and saving my granddaughter's birthday. I had ordered some classic boxes a day or so ahead of time but for some reason the order didn't go through. I freaked out because I didn't get notice of that until a short time before the event. Sergio calm me down and was able to put together the whole thing very quickly efficiently and with professionalism. Thank you Sergio!

Blake, the tender of the bar was very accommodating very nice. Made the best drinks ever. I hope he gets a raise and a bonus for Christmas. I will definitely be back, the service and food was excellent! -Richimmy

The OG Board & Brew location!! Food: I've tried all the sandwiches on the menu and they're all delicious. Today I got the Tom's Choice ($10) that comes with turkey and roast beef. The Secret Sauce on the side is where it's at. The sauce adds the perfect sweetness for the perfect bite. Service: We ordered online for pick up and it was ready by the time we arrived. The kids who work the shop are always friendly and chill. Ambiance: They have indoor and back outdoor covered seating. Very chill beachy vibes. Definitely a must stop for casual lunch sandwiches!

A local fave that's expanded since I first tried the brand years ago. This location is a busy place, especially during lunch on a weekday. Waits aren't too long, better to call in/order online. Patio tables storefront and covered deck seating towards the back of the business. Street and lot parking nearby. Sandwiches are thick and packed--the B&B standard. And their sweet & sour sauce is always a must have condiment. As previously mentioned there are multiple locations so I won't necessarily return to this one unless I'm in the area again.

Great place to sit down and eat or grab your sammich to go. The staff was great and our food came out pretty quickly and fresh. I got their Baja Wrap without tomatoes and I absolutely loved everything about it! The spinach wrap really tied the entire sammich together with the added flavor. They didn't skimp on any of the ingredients including the avocado, which a lot of places tend to do. This is such a delicious and affordable place to eat! I wish I lived closer so I could come here more often, but I'm glad I at least know of them now. I honestly loved this sammich soo much, I don't know if I would even want to try anything else when I come back.

Don't allow the special requests on Uber eats or door dash if you're not going to follow the simple request of having sourdough and being toasted?

THE QUINTESSENTIAL local sandwich spot and a cultural icon of San Diego. I've been coming here for years and it never disappoints! Turkey Deluxe is my jam, the sunflower seeds push it over the edge,and of course get an extra sauce on the side -so crave-able! The cashier has been the same guy for years (I'm CONVINCED he's an NPC or robot haha) and even on the busiest of days they do a good job calling out the orders, but do expect a wait. Lots of character with all the skate and surf stickers on the walls.

Casual place but man I can't stop thinking about the Caesar Salad .. not sure why it was so freaking delish. I've had my share of them at every level of restaurant and this is one I can't seem to forget .

Decent sandwich shop. Multiple locations, I really like the Del Mar location. It has a chill vibe.  The estentic is very SoCal. It feels like a beachy sandwich shop right out of a movie.  It's a perfect, casual lunch date or outing with friends.  I've ordered a few things here, and everything has met expectations.  I really like that their sandwiches taste fresh and are on the healthier side. To add, I've also ordered to-go and the sandwiches travel well! They do not get soggy. On my last visit, I ordered the Turkado, which is a turkey sandwich. I ordered it with no mayo, and it was really good - no mayo needed! It was already flavor filled and was loaded with avocado!  My other go-to is the baja wrap, which is a marinated chicken & avocado wrap. I've tried a few other turkey sandwiches, turkey deluxe and California Delight; pretty good! I haven't tried any sandwiches with bacon because I'm not a fan of bacon, and I feel substituting the bacon takes away a lot of flavor intended for the sandwich combo My top sandwich spot is still Rubicon, but Board and Brew provides healthier and more simple sandwich creations - so it's a mood. I'll continue to be a returning customer.

First off, service here is a great. The guy at the counter was working his ass off getting orders, handing out food, and just being a great front of staff. Food is solid, I mean it's a sandwich shop. I appreciate that they don't try to make them "gourmet", they just make good sandwiches with quality ingredients. Cost is not terrible, especially for Del Mar (my Baja wrap was only 10 dollars), and I love the outdoor seating. I will say this -- that sauce is overrated as hell. It's not bad, but it's just a normal sauce thing (the sauce has nothing to do with my eating of the place, just thought I would mention it). Overall, I recommend this place. Great location, clean bathrooms and good food. Yay

The best!!! Have frequented the Del Mar location for 10 years and they have never messed up my order. You're not from San Diego if you don't like B&B

Service was awesome and the food matched it; will totally go back! We grabbed some sandwiches and salads to go to take to the Powerhouse Park and the beach below.

Love the subs here but came in to order, patiently waited in a very long line and when we got up to order the man who took our order was extremely rude. He did not greet us, refused to look us in the eyes, tried to get us to check out before we were done ordering, didn't had us our drink cups and walked away before we even paid. Extremely rude. He was wearing a blue shirt and blue champion sneakers on the 4th of July. Please teach your employees some basic customer service skills. I only give two stars instead of one because the food is good. Other than that, don't waste your time here. There's better sandwich places that have friendly employees. UPDATE: came back the next day to get some subs (we tried calling about 7 times before going in at 4:30) we walked in and they told us immediately they were closed -even though all doors were open-and they were out of bread, at 4:30??? The man was so high he could barely keep his eyes open talking to me. He tried forcing us to take a potato salad and drinks which we did not want-we came for the subs. I've decided to change my review to a 1 star.

Fresh ingredients. For our tastes, the sandwich did not have enough mayo or mustard which made it very dry. Tuna was good but needed more flavor in the mix.

Normally this place is great but went on Saturday after pre ordering two sandwiches. The online app said my food would be ready by 12:13. Got there at 12:20 and was told "10 more mins". Which is fine. It was busy. At 12:48 i got back in line and was then told "10-15 more mins or i can have my order canceled". Listen i get you're busy on Saturday but that's horrible customer service. I had an appointment which is why i pre ordered. I live locally and will just go to Jersey Mike next time. Maybe the food isn't as good but the service is respectable.

First time at this location. The cashier said "do you want everything on it." I said, "No avocado, I am allergic". I don't live around here and am just down to go to the beach. I just opened it and to my surprise, AVOCADO! This has put a damper on my great day. I would give any restaurant a -5 stars for this.

Taste: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Ingredients are super fresh and clean, you can tell they don't cut corners for quality even the avocado was fresh. But nothing exceptional or new taste wise, I would suggest they add a veg option to their hot sandwiches. Maybe a veg patty then I would frequent. The sauce is pretty good and surprisingly sweet, it paired well with the sandwich. The sitting area outside is cute esp with the fresh sea breeze.

I love Board and Brew. I always get the turkey deluxe with the sauce on the side. For 10 bucks, I think the portion and flavor are great. I typically do an online order for pick up and they have my order ready on time. Definitely worth going to and there are locations throughout San Diego.

The best sandwiches, hands-down ever! Very busy location but they move fast. I DoorDash from here a lot since it is a bit easier. Just unbelievable sandwiches that are huge, super delicious and the workers are very fast and hard-working. You must try a sandwich if you are in the area.

So been by the Del Mar location several times and even called a few times and they are closed when they should be open. Today I called and the guy "we closed." I said it is 5: 00. You should be open for another hour and he said "no more bread." Guess the other three times was the same ? Guess poor ordering or uncaring workers - either way- they have lost my business.

Great spot to grab a sandwich! Lots of options with something for everyone and they are made fresh to order. I went with the grilled chicken that had lots of chicken, lettuce, pepper jack, avocado, grilled onions, and jalapeños. It had some definite heat but was good and the size was huge!

Fun music, very friendly service and lots of great outdoor seating. The sandwich was delish!
