A Size-XL Stellina Will Unleash Cacio e Pepe Pizza and More in Tysons - Eater DC

"Breakfast icon Bob and Edith's Diner is swinging open in Old Town Alexandria on February 28, taking over the vacated Ernie's Original Crab House location (1743 King Street). It's the sixth location for the 50-year old string of local diners." - Stephanie Carter

A great 24/7 diner! Nothing too fancy on the menu, but sometimes you don't want fancy. The steak and cheese sub as well as the country fried steak and cheese were both very good! First time I was there they were short staffed and a large group came in, but the young man tried his best to keep up. I wasn't in a hurry so it was fine. Second time everything was smooth.

1st time in at little after 11pm… order 2 hot ham n cheeses with a mashed potato n gravy n potato salad..soooo good! Staff was pleasant .. read the other reviews but we had no issues n will def be back !……. Ok*Update! 2nd night .. we had to come back … 9:30pm.. got the double bacon cheeseburger specials with fries and potato salad for 12.95. Pic doesn’t do it justice but the burgers are huge and taste great! Another night of friendly staff and great food! I think this will now be a regular stop every year when we are in town for Padres games!

I’d love to give it a higher score, but I had to do jumping jacks to get the waiter’s attention. Drinks were never addressed unless he was called over…at a diner, I want my coffee topped off and my tea filled at the least. The food was ‘ehhh’ for the prices. I literally could have eaten at The King Street Tavern next door at the Hilton for the same price and the service would have been better. If you’re staying at the Hilton, get the $27 buffet. The service and food will be better.

Great late-night diner! My jet lagged west coast friends and I were looking for somewhere to get a quick and easy bite to eat, and this place didn’t disappoint. The folks who got omelettes said they were great, and my chili and fries were pretty standard diner fare as well. We all walked away paying a total of $90 (18% grat. included for parties over 5), which, for 5 people in Alexandria felt pretty good, honestly. It’s nice to know there’s somewhere open so late for a solid bite to eat! Atmosphere was, again, pretty par for course as far as diners go, though I did feel it was a bit starkly bright. The staff was pretty neutral but attentive, and the food came out at a reasonable rate. I do wish I had the room for dessert, as their pies looked pretty solid!

I have eaten here 2 times this week. First time was great…. Except the green beans…. No seasoning. But today I only wanted 1 vegetable instead of 2 and just 1 extra roll with my meat. I was charged $2.79 for my extra roll and was told they were out of the one vegetable I wanted. So I told them no veggies were ok. They did surprise when I was over half way finished with my meal with the vegetable I wanted. Was given no discount and had to pay that much for a roll.👎

Great diner experience! Everything you would expect from an old fashioned diner, they don’t make them like this anymore! I can only speak for the breakfast meals, they were delicious and what to expect from a good diner! I will definitely come back here on another visit! If I was a local, I would be a regular customer!! Easy walk from the metro rail and bus station.

I went to Bob and Edith's for the first time this past weekend, and it was terrific. I had breakfast there with my siblings, and everything was phenomenal. From the food to the atmosphere and the service, I give it all 5 stars. Siri was our server, and she went above and beyond that day. I will definitely stop by again if I am ever in Old Town Alexandria, VA.

OK, we read the reviews, and ITS A DINER!!! Don't expect an unforgettable meal, and a show...it's a diner. We did the "Famous" Chicken Fried Steak, with two eggs and potatoes. It was the perfect comfort food needed after a long day of site seeing. Our server was very nice, and attentive. The food was flavorful and we enjoyed it. They need to update things a bit, but it's a 50s style diner...enjoy yourself.
