My son took me here for Mother's Day dinner and wow it was a treat. I had the grouper and my son had the fillet.!! The piano player was so elegant and the music was so great we definitely tipped her… But our drinks and our food were so amazing. Then we finished it off with baked Alaska and our waiter was so friendly and we had a really wonderful time we were dressed casually and everyone welcome to us and it is such a nice restaurant, but the food quality was amazing. Definitely recommend.!!

Google
What a treat! Conveniently located, this restaurant offers an outstanding dining experience. The food was superb, expertly prepared with high quality ingredients. The staff was incredibly attentive, demonstrating both excellent service and deep knowledge of the menu. Every detail, from the presentation to the flavors, was top notch. We had a fantastic time and highly recommend it for anyone looking for a great meal in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding Comfort Food & Classic Florida Charm! Bob Heilman’s Beachcomber in Clearwater is an absolute gem! I had the fried chicken dinner, and it was incredible—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. The mashed potatoes were creamy and smooth, and the fresh broccoli with hollandaise sauce added the perfect touch of richness. The house gravy tied it all together beautifully. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and full of old Florida charm. The staff was attentive and genuinely friendly, which made the whole experience even better. If you’re visiting Clearwater Beach or a local looking for a dependable spot with consistently great food, this is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

This place is good but the prices are extremely high for the quality of food they are offering. Service is great. The fried chicken was delicious. NY strip steak was ok. Nice atmosphere. I don’t think I would return but it was a decent meal.

Google
I can not comprehend the number of higher reviews. I simply do not get it. The 1980's called. They want their decorations and menu back. The wait staff in very bored voices explain that the place has been there for 70 some odd years (it shows about 40 of them). The food - WAY less than mediocre. The onion ring (appetizer) was one of the worst I have ever had. The seafood (Shrimp and Scallops) were brutally over cooked. The "side of beans" that everyone got were all untrimmed, uncleaned and nearly uncooked. Then, well then there were the INSTANT MASHED POTATOES!!!!! Seriously? Instant mashed potatoes? Yes, we are in the 1980's! (instant mashed in photo - they even look instant!) Disgusting. The "Fillet Mignon" was quite CLEARLY a Petit Bistro, or Shoulder Petite cut. FAR less costly and tender than a real fillet. We went as a four top (two couples) and when we asked to separate the check the waitress (was she not a bundle of joy) simply divided the check in two equal parts. Needless to say, as new owners of a Condo just south of the "downtown" Clearwater area - we will not be back and will not bring guests to Beachcomber. So many other fabulous options so close. Seriously, they do even try. Note to Piano lady...."Swing Low Sweet Chariot" is never, not ever a good selection for dinner music.

Google
Great food. I had the shrimp and my wife had the snapper. Great service. Our waitress was amazing. Great atmosphere. Loved the decor. Great location in the heart of everything. Great live piano music. The music did not start until 6:15 pm so plan to arrive at 6pm. Great toilets. Everything was clean. It was not crowded when we went on a Saturday night in October.

Google
4/5 ⭐️ – A Great Evening! We had a truly memorable dinner at Beachcomber Restaurant in Clearwater Beach. From the moment we walked in, everything was top-notch—but what really made our evening special was the amazing service we received from Rhonda. She was all smiles, full of warmth, and you could tell she genuinely loves what she does. Her energy was contagious and made us feel right at home. The food was good, not the best we ever had but we still enjoyed it very much. Whether you’re a foodie, a wine lover, or just looking for a beautiful spot with great vibes, Beachcomber delivers. We left with full hearts and full bellies, would recommend for a special night out!

Google
Spectacular bourbon selection. My wife's favorite place for French onion soup. I'm not a big soup fan but even I think it is great. Burger is well seasoned but a little overpriced for what it is. 2/1/25 Update - Had to drop overall rating and food down to 3 stars. Extremely disappointed in the only sides available with my last meal. Porkchop was great, the whole reason I stopped in. Mashed potatoes and the broccoli were probably two of the worst sides I've had at a restaurant. Zero seasoning in the potatoes and broccoli was undercooked and no seasoning.

Yelp
Nice vibe inside, super chill and I bellied up to the bar. Great conversations and excellent service. Food is really good and so are the drinks. The Pino Noir is incredible with glassware to match!
google avatar

Robert E.

Yelp
Service was excellent. Ambience was excellent. Menu was limited. Food was overpriced. $40 for fried chicken dinner?
google avatar

Jesse V.

Yelp
Extremely overpriced and a bit outdated. Menu was subpar. Service was average. Won't be back.

Yelp
Wonderful food and beautiful restaurant. Had the sherri shrimp and the crab cake for app; the baked potato with the New York strip and the key like pie and loved it all! Great service.
google avatar

Sisi M.

Yelp
Ordered the crab cake and it was out of this world. The atmosphere is very nice and welcoming.
google avatar

Vivian M.

Yelp
The service was amazing and the food was even better. Was surprised at the wine menu as it was extensive and the food was very fresh and delicious. The ambiance was romantic and they even had a piano player playing soft music.
google avatar

Jenna W.

Yelp
Lovely ambiance with an "old" and new section. The piano player (who is 90 and has been there for years) made it even more fancy. Our server and staff were accommodating. We were sad that they were out of grouper, but recognize it as a good thing, as it means everything is fresh. The crab cake was the best I've ever had! The oysters and seafood plater were too. You myst try the ginger molasses biscuits...almost asked to take some homeb

Yelp
Beachcomber is a great spot and nice change of pace on Clearwater Beach. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. As for food my wife had the seafood platter, and she loved it. The seasoning was just right--not overpowering but really brought out the flavor of the fresh seafood. I had the fried chicken, and they nailed it. The batter was crispy, the chicken was juicy, and the gravy was spot on. Even the asparagus was cooked perfectly. Make sure to save room for the Baked Alaska--it's worth it. Overall, an awesome place with great food. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Good local spot, kind of touristy for our preference but other than that we recommend.

Yelp
Seated right away. Beautifully decorated, our server was great! Took his time with us. Food was really good. Drinks were generous. Had the scallops and fillet. Scallops are a must have if you like them! Dessert was baked Alaska. Omg! To die for. Its now one of our favorite places.

MaryJo B.

Yelp
Service was not bad, but the food- not so good. They should try doing some fresh salads and grilled fish- a lighter menu for being next to the beach. Everything was fried or greasy, not for me.
google avatar

Chris A.

Yelp
Everything! We loved the ambiance and the food was wonderful and also so was the service. We're going again tomorrow before we head home.

Gabriella G.

Yelp
HORRIBLE! It was over 87 degrees, and I was with my mom and my 12-year-old little brother while we waited for my dad to find parking since we had been dropped off. My brother, who was overheated, sat down on a chair outside, and the owner came out with an attitude. She rudely asked, "Can I help you?" we would have moved immediately without any issue, but instead, she continued making snarky comments. When we pointed out that she was being rude, she responded, "Oh, you don't know how rude I can be," and sarcastically added, "Oh yeah, I'm SUCH a bitch," "Move Along." My family and I were extremely upset by this encounter. If she had simply been polite, we would have gladly moved and even planned to try their food. But because of the owner, Sheri, we will never visit this place again. To make matters worse, as we were leaving, a nice man walking by commented, "Food smells great," and Sheri yelled at him, "I'M ON THE FUCKING PHONE, GO AWAY"Whatever you do, DO NOT go to this restaurant. The owner is completely unprofessional and rude.

Yelp
The dark and moody elegance of the building really set the vibe which was also added to by the pianist who played popular melodies and songs for the guests. Service was great, attentive, but also gave us time in between apps, salad, and our entrees. We loved the atmosphere so much we spent almost 2 hours drinking a bottle of wine from their extensive wine menu! They have over 200 bottles and a selection of by the glass wines as well. I got the surf and turf and it was absolutely to die for, as a new englander I was praying that the Maine lobster tail would actually do it justice and it hit all the spots! I would recommend this place to anyone and we had a great time!!

Yelp
just took my son out this evening. Also took another dinner order for my other son and living on the beach since the 80s. This is a landmark always consistent. I do miss the relish tray in the coconut cream pie. Isn't anything on the menu that isn't the best quality, top-of-the-line

Scott M.

Yelp
While the food was good and our second server did a great job, we sat for 30 minutes at the bar wanting to eat being totally ignored. Asked for a manager, I was told by the hostess there was no manager there. She could have cared less about the issues. AVOID this place. Just terrible service

Yelp
This place has been here for 75 years and is family generational owned. Some of the restaurant is updated and other parts look original. It really is a beautiful spot for a nice dinner. We ordered clams and French onion soup for appetizer's, those were really good and suggest ordering those. The home made bread was very good. We ordered the two lobster tails and the surf and turf with broccoli and hollandaise sauce on top and mashed potatoes. The lobsters were good. The filet minion was a little dry. The sides were nothing to brag about. I really liked the service and the drinks and the apps.

Yelp
TRUST THE BAD REVIEWS. This is my first review, which means this was a horrendous experience, New Years Eve to make it worse. - Had a reservation for 5, we were crammed into a table for 4. Not a great start, especially when you're punched in the face with a foul/musty smell once you walk in. I asked for an extra chair that we could place at the end of the table to make it more comfortable, but the front of house staff kindly let us know that there was not 1 extra chair in the restaurant. Really??? - We asked if there was a kids menu when making this reservation, when they let my wife know "YES" we expected it would be more than just chicken tenders. Served with what tasted like instant potatoes, if they were fresh, the potatoes were under cooked, under seasoned, and completely underwhelming. Also worth mentioning that not once, when making the reservation, confirming it, nor on the website, does it mention that there would be a limited NYE dinner menu of overpriced, uninspired, pre-cooked crap. - The 3 adults in our party all ordered the 8oz filet (your choice of beans OR crap potatoes). This place doesn't believe in seasoning, no salt, no pepper. The salt couldn't come out of the salt shaker fast enough to put enough seasoning on that piece of meat to make it edible. This entire dining experience felt like every piece of this meal was pre-cooked. Nothing came to our table hot. Steak tasted and felt like it was seared earlier and warmed up for service....try imagining a microwaved steak feel and flavor. This place has that "institution" vibe for locals, a nostalgic place to go, but the food is terrible. The service was mediocre. Will never go again, and will advise anyone I know coming to Clearwater to avoid this dump. Wish I had my $400.00 back.

Yelp
Came here for Thanksgiving dinner and I'm glad we did. The evening started off a little rocky, as they lost the reservation I made last week. But-they did get us in a little bit later and it was worth the wait. I ordered the traditional thanksgiving dinner, which was incredible. My wife ordered the filet minion with lobster tail and my son got the chicken tenders, like always. Before the main course we had the escargot and shrimp cocktail. The Escargot was delicious-albeit a different preparation than I've had in the past. Everything was delicious. The service was attentive and the pumpkin pie dessert was a definite highlight on top of the already delectable cuisine. We'll definitely be back when we return to Clearwater Beach.

Yelp
Friends and myself had dinner this last Saturday evening, it had been the my first dinner here since just after the reopening after Covid. this restaurant had been my favorite place to have a nice dinner in the entire Tampa bay. sadly the place has lost its luster. I miss that they no longer offer lunch , but Covid was the excuse, same as everything else. due to the storm last year the entire restaurant reeks of Mold and Mildew even though they say it was professional remedsated. the mold smell is so bad ruined any chance of a nice birthday dinner as planned. i had a New York striip steak it was very good but the mash potatoes tasted like box flake potatoes our server was very nice , but the whole experience seems to be altered and not very special any longer I mean at this price point mash potatoes should be extra good. again I wanted to love this dinner and the experience, I had always loved it years past but sadly they have allowed the flame to burn out on their watch. at this level of service possibly the management should consider just closing up shop. and I hate saying that. my next nice dinner out I'll probably seek a different venue.

Yelp
Large group of us at two tables. Our server was really kind of terrible but the place was fine. He got one order wrong even though two of us made a big deal about ordering the exact same thing (same steak, cooked the same, same side, same salad, same dressing, etc). He even double checked when taking the order because they were the same. One came out wrong. He didn't really want to send it back when she showed him she didn't get what she asked for. He finally took it away and then she was so embarrassed and the rest of us were about half done eating so she tried to just cancel her entrée. He wouldn't let her do that either! So I felt bad for her. She was our host so I couldn't really argue with the server. I had a fine steak and seafood entrée. The guy next to me had snapper and I tried it and it was phenomenal the next night. I went somewhere else and ordered snapper because it was so good. overall I think the food was good, but the service was kind of a bummer

Yelp
Upscale ambiance, quiet. Service was fantastic, pleasant and friendly. Excellent seafood. Hubby had the scallops and they were very nicely done and delicious. I had the red snapper which was cooked to perfection and very tasty. Probably the best red snapper I have had. Dinner salads were just the right size with a lovely in-house dressing. Now the real star of the night.... Those ginger molasses muffins!!! Everyone asks for extras to take home! Those were amazing!!

Kathryn A.

Yelp
The service was excellent, however the food was not. I had the Maryland Lump crab cakes with mashed potatoes. The potatoes had zero seasoning. The crab cakes had so much mayonnaise I couldn't taste anything else. My husband got the seafood platter. Same issue nothing was seasoned. Everything was so bland. It definitely was NOT worth the money.

Yelp
This restaurant caught our eye on our morning walk. We wanted a nice Saturday night restaurant for a group of ladies. Well ... Milty "our genie" made all of our wishes come true! This food was seriously good - very definitely some of the best scallops I've ever had. The steaks were done perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was literally the best I have ever tasted. The baked potatoes were as big as our heads and delicious. The seafood platter was mouthwatering and done perfectly. The wine list is nice and has a taste and price point for everyone. Improvements - please up the cocktail game. The old fashioned was not good. When you get a cocktail and then upgrade of liquor making an $18 drink - you should at least have Luxor cherries. If anything - skip cocktails - go with wine. Also, the salad dressing - the house dressing sounded great - lacking a bit of flavor.

Yelp
What a gem in Clearwater!!!! The vibe is old school, the staff loves working here (especially Rhonda, our bartender), the food was top notch, and there's so much history... ask about the trumpet above the bar :) To top it off, the piano player made the whole experience so nostalgic

Yelp
well despite passing by here and thinking this place is bougie my friend gave me opportunity for our last day staying in Clearwater Beach Florida and heading back to Chicago Illinois tomorrow. The mai tai cocktail was strong and not sweet. Service was decent in regards to a explanation of the food. So far what they brought was extraordinary delicious the bread and the molasses ginger muffins was phenomenal. The muffins were very light and not crunchy or heavy on your stomach and the ginger muffins were we ordered two rounds which is why we didn't have any desserts. I am glad I ordered two sea scallops with my grouper and that was superb. My friend ordered the seafood platter which he was happy about. The grilled asparagus was delicious especially whatever sauce they use that they sauteed it with. Well despite that the mai tai was not that great I still give them five stars regards to the food despite unimpressed with the cocktail .ambience had that bougie classic feel. If you come to Clearwater Beach this is a must to go to when you have the money and the chance. The side salads were fresh although the vinegar dressing I was a bit more creamy than vinegar out of the choice of dressings. The escargot casserole was also yummy with the garlic bread they brought out. The eggplant was also superb. I usually don't like eating eggplant but it's Filipino style which is cooked boiled versus fried and it's usually a mushy versus crunchy and the right amount of flavoring or seasoning. Again must come here whether you're on a vacation with your wife or girlfriend or as a group with friends

Yelp
When you want the traditional leather banquettes steak experience... very nice. They've been around for years and it's easy to see why. Great selection of steak and fish dinners, well appointed bar with craft cocktails in addition to the classics and very attentive staff. Food was so good that we actually splurged on dessert: Baked Alaska! Right?!? When was the last time you had that? It was delicious.

Fred K.

Yelp
Food: served us instant mashed potatoes with our $50 entrees. Service: slow Ambiance: nice atmosphere.

Christine W.

Yelp
This was a hard review to write. On one hand, our server was amazing and the food was exceptional. Although, we had something odd happen. My sister-in-law went to the restroom and a couple coming into the restaurant didn't see her and they collided. My sister-in-law fell into some chairs were guest could wait by the hostess stand. The two hostesses who witnessed this were laughing instead of trying to help her, offer a complimentary dessert, etc. She had a scrap and her shoulder hurt afterwards. I asked for a manager to speak to and the hostesses said they were management for the night... It was unfortunate because so many people from the Nashville area recommended this establishment.

Michael T.

Yelp
Party of 4 on a Friday night. We arrived early, about 5:15, and the place was almost empty but it filled up quickly. We all had different meals. I had the jumbo shrimp and it was delicious. The others all had fish meals. The service was very good, the prices were a bit high but not outrageous. The place had an old timey Florida feel to it. I'm not sure why so many people have had a terrible time here - we were all happy and enjoyed dinner. The reason for a 4 star - my Old Fashion was miserable. Terrible; Ugh.

Fred L.

Yelp
Our server was exceptional, and our meals were VERY good. The biscuits they house make are the best, even took some home. Desert was a very large serving, and good to share. Definitely will be going back, and very soon.

Dean N.

Yelp
Avoid this one. You've been warned. Overpriced small portions and old school cheapness attitude. Asked for rare, was brought a tiny burnt piece of stake. Asked for neat bourbon and it came loaded with ice. They took it back and strained it into a glass and gave it back watered down. Nothing for kids to eat. Tiny piece of grouper for $$$. Cash cow for some lost interest owners.
google avatar

Jim A.

Yelp
Hours till 10pm. We show up just before 9pm and they refuse to seat us. She acknowledged they are open until 10pm but they don't seat after 8. That should be made plain.
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
I was with a group of over 20 while in town. But I must say I was impressed with their level of service. And my meal was quite basic. I had the French Onion soup with the fried shrimp and fries. But I will say the shrimp was some of the best shrimp I've had in a while. I'm not an expert on gulf shrimp but I have to imagine this is what it is supposed to be. And I loved the soup. Nothing wowed me to the point of it being a gourmet experience. But it was a very solid and satisfying meal.
google avatar

Rachel I.

Yelp
I'm so disappointed with this place. It presents as an upscale restaurant, but the food is uninspired and basic. Nothing seasoned or marinated or interesting. Bearnaise was filmy and too thick, Bisque was ok, but the consistency was off. Filet tips with mushrooms was a dry and bland kebab layered with bland onion and peppers, with three button mushrooms that tasted like tap water. The filet was tough. I should have stopped with the wines by the glass, which were obviously chosen for price point and not for flavor. This is a great location with a beautiful entrance and a nice space. So. Much. Potential. Get a chef and make some inspired and unique dishes! You'll clean up in Clearwater!

Yelp
Great food. Had no reservations, but was allowed in to the bar for drinks. Soon, the Manager arrived and was very accommodating as we were seated at a table. Our Server, Eleyna, (? Spelling), was amazing and attentive. She the spitting image of Mila Kunis Food was great!

Sara B.

Yelp
Our server "number 18" was fantastic. The food was amazing and the service was even better. 10/10 recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
My husband and I enjoyed a lovely meal at the bar on Valentines. Rali our bartender catered to our needs and offered cold cocktails and wine that didnt disappoint. The dinner was good and the ambience lovely - second time back when in the area!!

Becky G.

Yelp
it's our favorite spot to celebrate a special occasion. Incredible atmosphere with live music, friendly staff, and food that's fresh and scrumptious!!! Our favorite? Jumbo shrimp BRONZED with their creamy mashed potatoes, salad, and fresh bread.
google avatar

BettA T.

Yelp
The place is beautiful, the burger and the red snapper we ordered were delicious. The ginger muffins they give with the bread were a really nice surprise. The waiter was very attentive. However, I cannot give a better rating for two reasons. Firstly, a restaurant of this scale should not fry French fries and seafood with the same oil. My husband is allergic and he was not able to get his burger with fries, as it should be. Secondly, the hostess was extremely rude to us. She ruined the whole experience. I am not sure if I'd recommend this restaurant. I don't think I'll ever come back.
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
We were meeting with a longtime friend at Bob Heilman's Beachcomber that our friend recommended for a drinks. The restaurant bar was had a traditional old style dark wood accented appearance. The bartender was very pleasant and helped us navigate through the wine list. I can only comment on the bar lounge and not on the dining experience at the restaurant since we had not had the pleasure.
google avatar

Yvette M.

Yelp
Delicious food, wonderful service! Great beachside steakhouse vibe. Love the piano player. Can't wait to return.

Alex B.

Yelp
We went around Christmas time last year and this place was fantastic. The scallops were to die for and the waiter was excellent

Sandra O.

Yelp
Great food, great service!! Everything tasted fresh and was cooked to our liking. The scallop appetizer was cooked just right. No limp asparagus!
google avatar

Christina B.

Yelp
I have been to many fancy well known restaurants with business colleagues etc. Tonight my husband wanted to surprise me and have a nice dinner. We both we not impressed at all. The atmosphere was nice and our server was great....as for the food...not so much. My chicken marsala was over cooked even though I ate it because I was hungry. My husbands Veal was ok could of tasted fresher, not much flavor. For this type of restaurant and prices we were disappointed.

Mark W.

Yelp
Used to be the best. Stay away since Covid. Red haired owner is rude and always has been. Prices have quadrupled, no relish tray, "which was a unique treat that help elevate this restaurant ". And they took away the unique staple dish, that stemmed from the Brown Hotel one Louisville Ky. " The KY Hotbrown". Shame on you for taking best things off menu. And wow, the price of you're chicken compared to what it used to be not too long ago.
google avatar

Jordan H.

Yelp
I'll give it the 4 for the ambiance and the escargot, otherwise average. Came in got the best seats in the house, corner booth over by the live piano. Sat side by side with the wife. Great start. Escargot excellent. Taste and presentation. Couple cocktails pretty good. Bit of a gout attack so no shrimp or steak for me. French onion soup underwhelming. Tasted OK but no cheese over the top, barely any bread/toast in it. Had to be an off day for the chef can't believe this would be standard so I'm giving benefit of the doubt. Wife's filet was proper, i got the fried chicken as it was one of only 10 things in the menu and waitress spoke highly of it. Presentation. Was weak, almost food court looking to have the vegetables in a saucer and pure white mashed potatoes in their own saucer. Ehh. Baked Alaska for desert was great. Probably should have been a little more "baked" Espresso martini looked like dirty water poured into a glass. Tasted fair just disappointing display. Still cost a duece before tip. I must be in a good mood or maybe because i live local and plan on gong back sometime for another chance, but otherwise this is average.

Rob Q.

Yelp
The owner, Sherri, was extremely rude and our waiter, Nathan, was terrible. We had to constantly remind Nathan of missed orders, and getting his attention was always a challenge. In fact, the head waiter ran us down in the parking lot to admonish us for leaving only a 10% tip on a $669 bill. The fact is, we always tip 25% for great service regardless of the bill amount, however, the rudeness of the owner and the horrible service, was the cause of the 10% tip. The only reason for two stars and not one star is the food was fabulous.

Darlene B.

Yelp
So Tonight my friends and I went to the beach comber! We tried to order oysters and clams for starters but they were out. They only had five apps! Then we settle on three burgers and a order of fried chicken after waiting thirty minutes our waiter comes back and says they are now out of burgers! We asked to speak to a manger who came out and said I was told to come out and tell you we are out or burgers 35 minutes after the order was placed we ordered eggplant fries and their was no sauce. The manager did NOT apologize he offered no let's make this right it was simply I was told we have no burgers. Is today your first day managing a place? It's always I'm sorry how can we make this right! Don't waste your time going here! This is not service it's rudeness and that from a NeW Yorker
