The Best Boba Shops In LA & The SGV

"Located across from Santa Monica High, Boba Lab is the store I wish I’d had when I was still in school. If it had been, I can guarantee that my friends and I would have been there every day. Not only does this spot have a cute chemistry theme that makes the inner nerd in me smile - there’s a periodic table on the wall and they have a beaker in their logo - but Boba Lab also has unique drinks that feature flavored boba, including hazelnut, berry, ube, and pandan." - audrey fong

The interior is in rough shape: dusty decor, table detached from floor. I received the tiny boba and some of it was hard. Stale? I did feel that the 50% sugar option was accurate, though. Legal parking was difficult; I parked in spaces reserved for Zone 3 and did not get a ticket.

I have been coming here for a while, and I noticed that the quality of the food and service has severely decreased. I ordered online and waited around 30 minutes for my order of french fries. When I opened the box I was ASTONISHED. The fries looked bland, dry, and cold, but that did not even compare to the shock I experienced in my first bite. Half of the fries were raw! None of them were crispy or golden, although they were fried. The sriracha mayo was severely watered down and made the experience much worse. I cannot believe it took 30 minutes to make these. The workers work slow and the place was packed with people waiting. The service used to be much better, alongside the food quality. I am extremely dissatisfied with my order and doubt I will return to this establishment. I suggest you save your money or find another boba place in your area. DISGUSTING!

Cold veggie spring rolls, Thai tea had no almond milk in it. If there was milk in it, it wouldn’t be this color. The two girls working were more interested in talking to their friends.

I was a bit frustrated after my visit. The brown sugar drink wasn't very good. It seemed like there was no attempt to melt the sugar, plus there were bits of something at the bottom of the drink besides the boba and sugar. Tea leaves, maybe. My other drink had lots of ice when it was supposed to be no ice. There's seating for maybe a group of 3 people.

Checked out Boba Lab on a Saturday afternoon. It was a quiet time, which was great because it meant I didn’t feel guilty peppering the cashier with questions about the difference between the ‘cream’ drinks and ‘marble’ drinks (seems the difference is just that former is blended together and the latter isn’t). We got the marble ube and natural taro cream. Both were truly delicious and tasted real (rather than like artificial flavoring). They let us use our reusable cups, which was great. Before they realized we had straws, they went to give us a couple and I was pleased to see they were compostable and wrapped in paper - no plastic! My only complaint was that the boba to drink ratio was a bit off. We both finished all of the boba in our drinks before the drink itself, which never really happens when we get boba other places. Would definitely return. Would perhaps just request more boba ☺️

This place is amazing!!! They make their own whipped cream! I got the coconut cream bubble tea and my friend got a strawberry slush. They even have different types of boba! This place is fresh and the staff are wonderfully nice.

Boba lab was a great experience. Me and some friends were looking for a boba place in Santa Monica, and Boba lab was the right choice. It's not the traditional boba like at Kung Fu Tea, but it's sooooo good! The prices are average for boba, and there's lots of choices. Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because it was way to sweet. I could barely finish mine (which is unusual!) Definitely wish they had a sugar % option. Bit still, I recommend this place and you should go there!
