I've dined at BH a handful of times within the past year and found the food to be average to below average and somewhat overpriced. The flavors are rather impressive for a restaurant but tastes as if it is reheated.
Of the items I've ordered I'd recommend the following entrees: redfish, jambalaya pasta and the gluten free crab cakes. Yes, the GF version of the crab cakes because they're not battered.
The most memorable aspect of my dining experiences has been the temperature and number of tvs. It is meat locker cold and there appears to be, one tv for every two tables. If you're not a fan of dining in a sports bar like environment, avoid BH's during any playoff game or football season.
Service could be better. Of the times I've dined, I remember one average experience, The server's name was Billy. The others were lacking. Items missed and never acknowledged, refills are non existent and managers do not walk around to ask if everything is okay. If an adult beverage like a glass of wine arrives after your meal despite being ordered when it was delivered, there wasn't accountability or acknowledgment. The most alarming experience Involved a 20+ minute disappearing act with my credit card, as the last party dining. I found it rather alarming that Taylor didn't return to let us know why it was taking as long as it was. So I went to inquire. There was no explanation or apology for the amount of time it took and suspect the server was too young to understand why this day and age, a cardholder would be rattled. I asked to hold on to my card until they were ready to process it. It took at least 10 minutes more. Still clueless as to the reason the charge had to be run by a manager.
It's a solid find if in Metairie and looking for a decent bite to eat after 9p, but I highly suggest lowering your expectations. If you're a part of five or more, also expect 18% gratuity to be added.
