Let me preface this by saying Bobby McKey's is a very fun date night/girls night/whatever.
The venue is a good size, and parking is easy to find nearby in a parking garage. We had floor seats because I had read that you could get your requests played easier that way.
Service was solid. Our server stopped by several times. The drinks were pretty good, and it's standard bar fare-- wings, dip, nothing too special or filling (read: eat dinner elsewhere).
The performers were great. They knew how to hype up the crowd, and they are no doubt talented.
So why three stars? The gimmick of taking requests is, I think, only a gimmick. We sat with strangers at our table and we all submitted requests (walking napkins up to the stage). We were told that you had to provide cash/venmo in order to have a chance at getting your song played. I have no idea how much you have to pay because I tried $5, then $10, and nothing. Paying above that for a single song on top of admission seems a bit much.
However, if you're celebrating something (i.e. paid for one of their larger packages), they make you feel special and play your requests.
Why am I salty about this? The music selection was dated. Very dated. You got your Journey, Elton John, Billy Joel, Garth Brooks, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, etc. Now, don't get me wrong, I get it. Everyone knows those songs. It's true. BUT, I could count on one hand the songs they played from the 2000s to now. And that... doesn't play well.
Do I recommend Bobby McKey's? Sure. But go in knowing that you are not likely to get your request played, and the music selection is classics.
