The Best Breakfast Restaurants in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"Open since 1949, this deep Valley coffee shop has been known for serving some of the best breakfasts in town. Decked out in classic diner fashion with metal-sided tables and red leather chairs and booths, the restaurant feels lived-in and welcoming. Regulars to this Woodland Hills institution go for the light and fluffy pancakes and the all-American breakfast with eggs, pancakes, hash browns, and hot links." - Eater Staff

A local favorite! My dad and I have been coming to Bobby’s for a long time now, and it always hits. All your favorite diner meals done right. Lots of breakfast plates that will fill you up for the day, and lots of food options to customize it to your liking. The staff always brings service with a smile and we are always seated quickly. I like to sit outside in a patio on sunny days. They have parking which is really convenient, and prices are really fair for what you get. It’s always too much food for me! We always make a point to get here.

Google
Classic American diner. The food was good and the service was great. Nice place to go and catch a bite with friends or family. The French toast is very nice, fluffy and pretty moist. The bacon eggs Benedict were good, not the best that I’ve ever had, but pretty standard for a diner. The breakfast burrito was also pretty tasty. Bacon is nice and crispy. All the staff are very friendly and give great service. This was one of my dad’s favorite diners.

Google
We came across this amazing diner by accident and couldn't be more thankful that we did. The service was top notch. The menu options all sounded delicious and made our decision difficult. Once we ordered our food we were shocked at how quickly it arrived at our table. We brought our three kids and no one could finish their meal as the portions were massive and so delicious. We couldn't recommend this place more. Great for locals and four out of towners like ourselves. Will be back for sure.

Google
awesome place! seriously in shock about how fast our food and drinks came out. food was awesome, though a little pricey for my taste. server was great and the atmosphere was very relaxed and cozy!

Google
Heads up the waiter(s) here are smart asses and rude. I was denied service after simply requesting food off of the menu. Nothing more Nothing less. If I could leave negative stars I would be more than glad to do so. Don't ask me how the water or food was because walked out after being treated like I was Nothing.

Found this place on Google while visiting LA over the 4th of July weekend. We like to search the local Mom and Pop places rather than boring chain restaurants. So glad we discovered this place. Everything was great! Food, friendly and efficient service, cleanliness. It. Has old school vibe and charm. We already recommended it to our Vrbo host. We will definitely be back next time we visit LA.

Google
Wonderful spot to have breakfast. The parking is sorta limited, so I do recommend getting there early. Food was delicious! Ordered the Spinach Eggs Benedict with O’Brien potatoes (don’t think it’s on the menu, but you can ask for an extra charge). But I will be asking them next time to grill the veggies a bit more since I have a strange dislike of raw onion and peppers but obsessed with them heavily grilled. Gave them to hubby who enjoyed them as he only had an inkling for just some biscuits and gravy. He was perfectly content! Now if I can only persuade him to split breakfast with me next time. 😂

Yelp
I love this cute old school diner! The coffee was great - a great indicator of how good the food is is how well they make their coffee. I had their maple bacon, which was so delicious with eggs and toast. I came in at a good time where they weren't busy at all. Staff was very friendly. Service was quick. There's parking in their lot if you can get a spot otherwise street parking is ample enough. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Great Food. Reminds me of a dinner in Los Angeles in the 90s but stuck in the 70s. Good Breakfast. Brandon Allen #vangoughpicasso

Yelp
Located right on Ventura and Falbrook. They are opened until 3pm daily and usually have a good amount of patrons that come here on a daily basis. There's a parking lot in the back. Just be aware that the parking lot in the back is a little tight and shares the lot with the foot massage place next door. There are also parking on Ventura if you are lucky enough to find a spot. There's patio seating if you want to eat outside or you can dine inside at a regular table or at the counter. The portions are pretty standard unless if you opt for the pancakes. Those are pretty big and I recommend you order 1 if you are getting other things also. The coffee has been inconsistent the past couple of times I've been here. But to be fair, the times it's been off was when I came here around 12-1pm. At this point, there's not a lot of coffee being poured so unless they make a fresh batch, your coffee will probably be cold and sour tasting. This is a definite hole in the wall place and is visited by regulars and loyalists. The servers here have always been nice. The food is not the greatest, but will satisfy your breakfast fix.

Yelp
Meeting friends for lunch. Need a place that could accommodate a wheelchair and other limited mobility folks. Bobby's, with a private parking lot on the side and in the back, fit the bill. The restaurant reminds me a a 1950s luncheonette (it is actually older than that). The booths appear to be recently recovered in a red vinyl and are surprisingly comfortable. A busboy came by immediately to get our drink orders. Then our server took our main course orders. I went with the grilled chicken salad ($15). A surprisingly terrific presentation - more in line with an upscale restaurant salad presentation. Plus the chicken was smoking hot - just out of the oven. Huge portion. Everything very fresh. Outstanding choice for lunch. Good food, excellent service, fair prices, free parking - great value.

Yelp
The service is MUCH better and it's nice to have CONSISTENTLY Good Food with a Large Menu that leaves you lots of options. It's also Nice to feel appreciated I am happy to change the rating to reflect the Positive Changes

Yelp
Beautiful family-feel atmosphere locally here in Woodland Hills. Being from the South, it definitely gives that welcoming vibe. Brunch on a Sunday early afternoon was perfect. My pancakes were a little burnt, but they got me another order that was then "no so done". But it's all good. I'd still return to give them another try. Waitress was great

Yelp
This is a classic old school diner on the west end of Ventura Blvd in Woodland Hills. I love the location because it's on the side of the boulevard that is a little quieter. Lots of parking in front and there's also a customer lot behind the restaurant. Come there if you are looking for friendly service, fair prices, delicious food and large portions. It's a straightforward diner menu that is made hot and fresh to order. Perfect for those morning breakfasts with family or a nice lunch. Anytime I come here I feel taken care of. Perfect spot that's definitely supported by long time locals. IYKYK.

Yelp
Who doesn't love diners? Love this place! It has the look and feel of a true cafe! The food is cooked fresh, too, which we can't guarantee at most places. I had the 2x2x2 - 2 pancakes, 2 bacon, 2 eggs! Can't get any fresher and the taste was perfect! I'm a hole in the wall fan so the bottom line is I love this place! Parking is in the back so no need to park on the street and pay meter parking. I'll be back to try the lunch entrees! Bobby's did not disappoint! Oh and the service was good, too! Prompt and accurate, not forgetting me! Come here if you want real food with a real cafe experience. This place has been around since 1947 and I hope they never close!

Yelp
I love this place but the fact that l, if you don't dine in, you have to pay almost double on every app that allows you to order for pickup is insane. I understand that there may be problems with the service on their end but if that's the case, allow people to order over the phone. Paying almost $15 for a pickup order of a short stack of pancakes when they're under $10 at the restaurant is kind of gross. I never leave bad reviews but in this instance, I really just want someone to explain to me why this is the case so it can help me justify spending almost double before I have to pay tax, fees AND pick it up myself. Ridiculous.

Yelp
Hi my son, grandson, and I went to Bobby's today. We got served by a very nice woman by the name of Sam. The service was superlative, , and the food was excellent. My son really enjoyed the salmon and I particularly enjoyed my omelette. My grandson had the Mickey Mouse pancakes and he was pretty happy about that. We think Sam is extremely cute and we would like to take her home. I told my son we should show up sometime about 245 approximately 15 minutes before they close eat something quickly and then we could grab Sam on the way out. It's a pleasure to be back at Bobby's. It brings back some great childhood memories.

Yelp
Amazing old school breakfast spot with huge menu and great service. Such a classic spot. Loved the chicken fried steak, crispy hash browns and sourdough toast. Coffee was good too.

Yelp
Lucky to get a parking spot today. Its pretty busy. Pastrami melt and original Benedict are the today choices. Like usual, food are perfect, services are fast.

Yelp
I actually like it very much. I had the All American Breakfast. Bacon was crispy, hash browns were good and a lot. French toast was so sweet Ana amazing. First time and I love it.

Yelp
Old school diner:fresh eggs, crispy golden hash browns, fluffy pancakes with real butter and syrup. Salmon Benedict rates among the best ever. Service is friendly, fast, and efficient.

Yelp
My first time here, I was craving corned beef hash and eggs. It was good and filling, it needed some salt for my liking but not an issue. The coffee was ok. I wish it was stronger. My friend had the regular breakfast of eggs, and hash browns and she was happy. Great waitress. Good experience. Always had coffee in my cup! We sat outside on the covered patio. Thank you!
google avatar

Ralph A.

Yelp
Great place for a great breakfast with typical American breakfast fare.quick, cheerful and good service, not a big place, cozy old America feel to it. Business continues to be busy on the weekends but very easy M-F. Everything tastes great and service is always friendly.

Yelp
this is one of the best breakfast spots in the valley. I got pancakes and eggs and it was so good the pancakes were super fluffy. my dad got a breakfast burrito and it was the best I have ever had. the service is super good and the waiters are super nice. overall 10/10 would recommend for sure.
google avatar

Yelp
So Bobby's "coffee shop" is not serving ice latte, go figure. As soon as we were seated one of the servers approached and asked for drinks and I asked for an ice latte and the response was "no we don't have it, just regular coffee". Really? You're running a commercial kitchen and can't make an ice latte?? Maybe it's time to rename the store. Food is your standard diner type food which is not bad but nothing extraordinary as well.
google avatar

Troy H.

Yelp
One of the best breakfast spots in the valley. The wife and I came here to enjoy a good breakfast, and it did not disappoint. I had the Three Pancakes With Two Eggs & Two Bacon and the wife had the Denver Omelete. The items were delicious and the taste did not disappoint. They have a variety of other items on their menu which you would truly enjoy. Service was great as Auzzie served with a smile and was able to answer any of our questions. Parking is in their lot in the back, or Ventura blvd.
google avatar

Jenna T.

Yelp
Glad we stopped in to have breakfast before the drive to Santa Monica. No BS here. They have plenty of options and the service is fast. Plates are generous at affordable prices, we love that! They offer different types of steaks for steak and eggs so I don't remember which one I got, but it was cooked perfectly. Their pancake is huge and fluffy! Love all the old decor and hand drawings on their walls, nothing dull to look at. They have a small parking lot in the back, easy to miss esp since you're driving up a busy street. So take your time and find that right turn. My only regret is that I didn't find this spot sooner, but now that I have, def gonna make it a must-stop whenever I'm visiting the area.

Yelp
The WORSE experience I have ever received as a paying customer is from Bobby's Coffee Shop! A friend recommended this place because she's been coming to this place since she was 18 years old. We were there eating breakfast having what should've been a relaxing calm Sunday breakfast with good conversation, when a male Host approached our table and asked if we wanted to-go boxes. I was a bit confused because we were still having a meaningful conversation and in mid-bite when he approached us about To-Go boxes. Mind you, our breakfast plates still had food on it. We nodded "no" and he went away. We asked for coffee refill, he gave us attitude, We asked for water refill, he gave negative attitude. A few minutes later, he returned to our table, stating, "I'm sorry, but we have a waitlist and there's people outside!" So, now we're being kicked-out??! We were still eating !! Thankfully Barack ( friend) told him off using his firm voice to affirm we are paying customers! I instantly didn't feel welcomed, but Barack (friend) reassured me to take my time and not rush! Needless to say, we all decided to leave 10 minutes later and vowed never to return to this place! Horrible Host service! Our waitress was nice but wasn't attentive! The hospitality service here really is horrible! PAYING CUSTOMERS SHOULD NEVER EVER BE TREATED THIS WAY regardless of whether or not you have a waitlist!!!!!!
google avatar

Jess S.

Yelp
That was the crispiest hash browns I've ever had in my effing life !! Wow! This place is so cute and cozy, and clean. The staff was also very nice. They were very quick to bring our food. I'd come back!

Ellen B.

Yelp
The new waitress was rude and charged me separately for hash browns which were undercooked & then argued with me that toast and hash browns don't come with bacon and eggs. If I paid for a short stack separately, 4 bacon and 2eggs should come with hash browns and toast. She said it doesn't. Since I only got 2 bacons which comes with pancakes and eggs She should not have charged me for a short stack Since I only got 2 Bacons which comes with pancakes and eggs. Was this a Rip off? yes! I should not have been charged for both pancakes and hash browns. I have been eating there for 17 yrs. and never had an issue. I will now go to Nat's, only a block away and has way better service and waiters that don't rip you off & argue with you.

Yelp
Sunday we arrived at 10am, just before it got extra busy. The staff were friendly and food was very good, also the portions as well. We both enjoyed our meals. Also price was very reasonable.

Yelp
I used to really like this place, ate here dozens of times over the years. I went back recently for the first time since COVID and was not impressed, especially for the price I paid. I ordered Corn Beef Hash and Eggs which is my go-to breakfast order in any coffee shop. The eggs were fine but nothing to write home about. The hash browns were a bit undercooked but I understand not everyone wants them crispy like I do and it's sometimes a fine line between crispy and burnt. I would rather my hash browns be a little soggy than burnt. Something about the Corn Beef Hash tasted off, could be the recipe they use but I don't recall not liking it here before. Didn't even finish the Corn Beef Hash, was going to bring the rest home to my dog but I forgot the to-go box. Service was less than I'd expect as well, even though I was sitting at the counter with several employees (not even counting the cooks) working within 10 feet of me it was always an effort to get a refill on my soda. And for all that I paid $25.16 before the tip (I always tip in cash), for just an order of Corn Beef Hash and Eggs and a Diet Coke. I know everything is expensive now but the value for what I got just wasn't there.

Cesar C.

Yelp
This place is amazing. I recommend this place to all my freinds and family. No wait times, and straight to business.

Kyle K.

Yelp
Great spot for breakfast, real cafe feel to it with friendly staff. Stumbled upon it with time before a meeting. Got the 3egg omelette meal 10/10
google avatar

Erik V.

Yelp
The best pancakes in the valley, hands down. There are many places around in the valley that will offer a variation of pancakes, yet none of them will match up to Bobby's pancakes and much less give you the prices that Bobby's will either. The entire breakfast menu is delicious, perhaps not the most Instagram pretty, but as tasty as it gets and that's what matters!

Yelp
I used to go here at least once a week. The food was always excellent but their service is bad. I came in and sat down right in front of the waiter. He acted like he didn't see me but there was no way he missed me. 2 guys walked in and he took their orders like I was invisible. Still waited patiently until I saw the staff joking with each like they had no work or customers. Pissed me off so bad that I'm never coming back here. Nat's down the street treated me a lot better. Bobby's has a help wanted sign in the front but they probably don't need help if the help they have would just do their job. Even the bus boy doesn't give you refills of coffee unless you flag him down. The cooks are the only guys that do a good job. ‍

Yelp
If you're looking for a warm cooked meal right in front of you (open kitchen) with a warm experience as if you're living in a small town, this is the place to be. Not only is the food great, the customer service is amazing. From the moment you walk in and seat wherever you'd like, the amazing service comes to your table right away. I met the owner as he personally came by to our table (and the other tables as well) to make sure everything was okay and all of our needs were met which was very sweet to see and feel. This place definitely goes the extra mile to make sure you feel like you're right at home. Extremely rare to come across this these days. It's hard to put into words the entire experience. Definitely will be going back, and definitely recommend you giving it a try. Last thing to mention, take the time to read the history on the walls and then everything mentioned above will make sense.

Tina T.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere and the food is good. Old school diner with classic breakfast dishes. That have great flavor

Yelp
Great local diner. Will be my next local go too. Great coffee and really good chicken fried steak.

Yelp
The food was delicious, and the service was great! It has an old time diner feel with a lot of warm feeling like being at home. We sat at the counter and the service was fast!!! I totally recommend this place...

Yelp
Went to Bobby's on a Saturday I don't recommend. Food was good waitress was pleasant, ordered two breakfast with coffee. Paid the bill busboy came to clear the table. But he took my coffee I was still drinking my husband went to the waitress and asked for another cup of coffee. She apologized had the busboy bring another cup . He didn't apologize he preceded to tell me I needed to leave people were waiting . I was embarrassed and then I got pissed.Told him I'd leave when I finished my coffee and told him he was rude. Waitress apologized for him. I calculated our breakfast at about a dollar a minute-

Yelp
Cute diner with friendly staff. This place has a throwback look with the red vinyl seats and vintage signage. I ordered Eggs Benefict with fruit. Delicious and my coffee was refilled regularly. Loved the food and the service. Plenty of parking. Will be back.

Yelp
Perfect Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs. And great service For breakfast nothing around beats it

Yelp
When I was a little boy growing up in Thousand Oaks breakfast time was NOT my favorite meal. I hated the typical cold milk and and cornflakes or rice crispies and toast and it was a battle I put my poor mother through every morning until one morning she got so fed up she put one egg and a kitchen nail on the counter and said make your own breakfast. From that day forward there was no longer war at breakfast time before school. I would take the egg and with the nail punch a whole in each end of the egg and zoup the egg out on the way to school. Now you are probably asking, what does this have to do with having a this delicious breakfast that included a fresh ground hamburger patty, cooked to order and the best hash browns in the Valley at Bobby's Diner. When Heidi (who is ALWAYS a ray of sunshine) comes to the table and says good morning and takes my order she makes sure that my eggs are made PERFECTLY. I mean PERFECTLY!! Sunny side up and gooooooey!!!! What, did you think I was going to ask for two eggs and a kitchen nail? My Dear Reader, give some credit, I have grown up.

Yelp
Classic and good diner. Omelettes and basics. Been here for many decades and always reliable.

Nemi G.

Yelp
Loving this coffee shop there's a guy there by the name of Sean he's behind the kitchen and on the floor and you can tell he runs this place really smooth, I'm coming back here because the food is amazing and we were greeted by the gracious Wendy and served by the wonderful Heidi. Come here for cozy breakfast you'll love the vibe of a real coffee shop.

Jules B.

Yelp
Most excellent hash browns in San Fernando Valley!! Their maple bacon is so delicious and perfectly crispy! Awesome omelettes!!! Very friendly service. It's our favorite routine weekend breakfast place go to...
google avatar

Zachary M.

Yelp
First review of Bobby's, but not my first time dining in. Their breakfast is soo good! Tastes home made, like they've been doing it for years. Pancakes are so fluffy, bacon is crisp and thick, customer service is great. They always take care of me when I go. Definitely tell everyone I can about Bobby's. It's gem in the Woodland Hills/Calabasas area. They have a small town vibe in the sense that you feel like you're home, and I love it, having grown up in a small town.
google avatar

Regina Joie E.

Yelp
I truly enjoyed my breakfast here. Everything was cooked perfectly. I ordered off the children's menu: griddle breakfast. It consisted of perfectly cooked strip of bacon, juicy sausage, and the French toast was scrumptious-toasted on the edges and a little soft in the middle. amazing. My coffee was never empty as I was often offered for it to be topped off. I think the portion was perfect as I do not eat a lot in one sitting but am a total foodie!

Sarah K.

Yelp
Sooo good! Friendly staff and great food. When I asked for well done hash browns, they delivered. Perfectly crunchy! I would go again.
google avatar

Jonathan W.

Yelp
If you're looking for a good diner for breakfast in Woodland Hills you basically have two choices... of those Bobby's is my favorite. Most of the staff is friendly, the service is great, and the food is excellent. This is a place with some history, in business since 1949. They have kept the place pretty much the same over the years, because you don't mess with a good thing! They have excellent breakfast combos but will also do a la carte. Often the waiter will help figure out the cheapest way to get what you are looking for, so don't hesitate to ask! They do an amazing job with their grill, so you really can't go wrong with any breakfast staples here. Eggs, bacon, toast, english muffins, etc... they make wonderful hash browns that are crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. And their coffee is excellent as well! This is a regular breakfast spot for me, it's especially great if you want an early morning meeting with friends or coworkers on a weekday as they have plenty of seating and you don't feel guilty hanging out a bit after finishing your meal. There is both street parking (metered most days) and parking in the back.

Yelp
A Woodland Hills Greasy Spoon Classic, Bobby's Coffee Shop has been serving up traditional comfort food for the San Fernando Valley since 1949. The no frills, no fuss diner offers plenty of great classic options, hearty portions and decent prices. On this particular visit, I opted for the $14.99 Vegetarian Omelet (made with 3 Freshly Cracked Cage Free Eggs, Onion, Bell Pepper and Mushroom), served up with Hash Browns and Sourdough Toast. I sat at the chef's table aka the front row single seating adjacent to the grill. The endless pours of strong, hot coffee started at $3.95. I had three cups to keep the caffeine roaring throughout the meal. The service was speedy, unassuming, friendly. The portions were enormous. The hash browns were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, with two full slices of thick sourdough bread. In addition to the front diner swing seats, there is plenty of tables and booths throughout, along with additional outdoor patio seating. Ample parking behind the restaurant, or metered options on Ventura. If you want some basic, good ol' fashioned diner food, with some artwork, knick- knacks, and time warped memories, Bobby's provides Diner 101 satisfaction and a full, feel-good belly.

Kimberly E.

Yelp
Love love love this place for breakfast on the weekends! I don't know what they've done to the corned beef hash but it's the best tasting one I've ever had! French toast is also my favorite. I can't even try other things, I love those 2 too much. Service is always good! I have noticed that if you sit at the bar they kind of forget about you though so get a table or a booth!
