Bobby's Monkey Bar

Went there for the Karaoke! Yes, it is a cash bar, and yes, they have an ATM on-site. Had this been any other karaoke bar, I would have sung, had a few drinks, and left. But it's a rainbow pride bar and my two straight couples had the most fun. The atmosphere was supportive, crazy, and talented. We laughed and laughed. Everybody in our group sang (if you can call it that) and loved every minute! A definite recommendation and much thanks to Deb, our bartender, and Jeff, our KJ.

Absolute 11/10 experience. If you love karaoke, and love the energy of adults of all ages and backgrounds having a good time, then this is the place. Super safe and super supportive. Be aware that it's a small bar and cash only, but overall an excellent vibe and highly recommended for anyone who wants to get their sing on in Key West.

Came in to sing Karaoke and had such a blast we stayed out till 2:30 AM!! All the singers were great and really seem to enjoyed themselves!!

Crazy little bar in Key West a block off the business and craziness of Duvall St. We visited during Fantasy Fest so, it was a little bit different than most days there. This little gem didn’t disappoint us as it is the turn of the first Fantasy Fest parade also known as “The Locals parade”. They have an emcee announcing the parade and lots of fun. Don’t miss the chance to pop in this cool spot and grab a drink or two.

Cash only but what a great bar to go to

Was there with a friend in September of ‘24 and really liked it. Good bartenders that serve great drinks and don’t forget if you’re a singer, they do have karaoke!

Cash Only! There is an ATM inside, but before you come in complaining in reviews that it's cash only.... here's your warning lol. Fun old school bar ... we had to kill time before the airport and this was perfect. Feels like an old school Jersey bar.

Stopped here while on vacation in Key West and had a blast. We were there pretty early 9pm, they didn't start karaoke till 9:30 and it didn't get busy till 10:30. We still had fun even though it was dead. They had an old school book to pick a song and it was super dive bar. The bartender was very nice, and we had a great time. It's CASH only but they have an atm on side. Drinks were also cheap!

Top notch karaoke bar with a twist! The drinks are strong, just like the talented karaoke singers! Pool table to keep you busy, great service, fun conversations and great music! If you were on the fence about trying it, jump and run into Bobby's!

If you would like to go to a nice little gay dive bar in Key West, then look no further than this place. It is an absolute dive filled with locals and some curious tourist. Every night at 9:30. They have karaoke night again it's a dive bar, but nothing to be afraid of. The bar old, excepts cash and if you didn't bring any they've got an ATM for your convenience. Drinks are strong and cheap. There's no smoking allowed inside the bar so you'll see everyone congregate in the front of the bar where the Astros sit. The staff was relatively friendly. The more you drink, and the later it gets, the better everyone's voices sounded. be sure to have a few drinks before you arrive so you can truly appreciate the karaoke.

My husband enjoyed singing his favorite tunes. I enjoyed my favorite cocktail. We stayed in Keywest for four nights and made sure we stopped in for a good time. Bartender was awesome and we love the Karaoke host. Can't wait for our next visit in March

.5 stars. not a pleasant experience at all. this bar in a very sketchy part of town that you take dark, back roads to get to. then, the bartender (an older lady with a blonde short bob) was so rude. she didn't give my friends and i any attention because we were younger than all the other drunk, millennial 30 somethings in there (we are all 25!!). the karaoke dj was so sweet and some of the people were nice. that's it.

Had an absolute blast!! karaoke was on point! Everyone so very friendly! I highly recommend!!

A divy bar that is cash only and has nightly karaoke around 9:30-ish. The service is friendly and welcoming. Definitely come as you are and have fun. Really chill and good for a more relaxed night. Outside of that not a bad place to start off before embarking on Duval.

I never write reviews but this place was so great that I had to drop a quick note. We went here with my wife and her family on Tuesday of this week and had an amazing time! A very friendly bar that seems to have more locals than tourists. We made an effort to talk with the guy running the karaoke night because he was one of the best singers we've ever heard! Go see him soon before he is on Broadway, no joke.

Vicky was the bartender/. She cut us off after I went to play pool and I dropped my wallet. My friend stumbled to pick it up. She was great until then but she turned into a crazy woman. No worries I was going to tip her well, but not after that - hope she makes some cash- not from us however

I have been to this cute little bar many times over the last 8 years. Love the karaoke and the people are soooooo friendly. My next trip to Key West I will be sitting at the bar having a drink.....love the fun and smiles.

Just awesome. Go here. Watch old movies. Look at monkeys. Even the monkeys from the wizard. You'll like it. A lot.

Love this little gay dive bar!!! Typical Key West, very laid back and very chilled. You won't find any pretentious wannabe twinks running around here. Just a solid group of locals singing karaoke with a few out of towners. Everyone is welcome. The bartender was amazing. NO CREDIT CARDS ACCEPTED CASH ONLY SMOKING IS NOW OUTSIDE If you want a chilled place to hang with the locals, have a few stiff drinks and sing a few songs, be sure to stop here.

Key West has a chill vibe and the Monkey Bar a great place to find it. Low key may be an understatement but the drinks are stiff and the bartender is nice. It feels like that perfect neighborhood bar where everyone would know your name. My sense was that it was more populated with locals than tourists so it is a chance to meet the real Key West. The only frustration is that they do not take cash. Come on boys this is almost 2021 (because I am so done with 2020) that you cannot expect us to actually carry cash especially in skinny jeans.

We are living in Jacksonville, stopped in for a cocktail while we were driving around. Our bar tender Jeramy was very friendly. The drinks were very good and reasonable for happy hour. Seems like a locals bar. Will be back.

My happy place! Chillaxed, welcoming vibe, nightly karaoke, and an eclectic mix of tourists, locals, bachelor/ette groups, and other misfit toys who wash up with each of the countless festivals held on the island. While all of that's great, it's the bartenders who make Bobby's my favorite bar in Key West...Marty, Jeremy. Steven, Vickie, and Deb are seriously the best. Vickie and Deb will even take a turn at karaoke, singing while slinging drinks. It's the perfect way to end the work day, pregame before a "Duval crawl" or spend the evening with a bunch of wild animals singing your favorite (or not so favorite!) tunes. Gay, straight, and everybody in between fill this place each night...definitely the most colorful crowds I've encountered in all of my travels.

So I had to go to the Keys for a day to handle some business. When I arrived around 9pm, some locals greeted me and invited me to join them for karaoke night. Naturally I said yes! We arrived at Bobby's Monkey Bar. A small cozy bar with a side stage for karaoke singers and bands to play. Drinks were very affordable. I had 2 vodkas with a splash of lime juice for less than $16. Sang The Eagles "Hotel California" and in the end had a wonderful time. Staff was very friendly too. My only issues were that their bathrooms are very tight and they only accept cash. So this inconvenience sent me to find an ATM. Thankfully they had one inside. I'll definitely return if I am ever in town again.

Local or semi-permanent local bar. Smoking allowed inside, kareoke allowed inside, pool, drinking, fun and laugh all allowed. The folks were very welcoming, chatty, friendly and full of applause when people sang.

Was down for the Key West Film Festival and a group of us headed over to Bobby's for the closing night after, after party. Great find for a little dive bar. Cheap, strong drinks. Karaoke. Good vibes.

LOVED karaoke. Good dive, low key vibes, local clientele. Karaoke host was also one of the better ones. Highly recommend if you love a dive, karaoke, or you're looking for somewhere LGBTQ friendly.

This is a typical divy local bar, cash only and pretty small, but one of the few that has Karaoke most nights with a full stage and everything and any song selection you want. This place is so divy, the air condition must of been broken or something since the place was about 200 degrees and very stuffy/muggy. The bar is so small, you take a group like we had of 15-20, you will take over the place since all it consists of is a pool table and a bar and stage. Still, a good time had by all singing and it was still a cool place.

I love this place. It off Duval, which is a plus. And it's the kind of place where you can strike up a nice conversation with people at the bar.

Fun times and great drink prices! Love having a place that kinda caters to locals. We loved being just "back up" singers!

CASH ONLY! And their ATM machine may be broken. But Bobby's is a pretty cool spot, and worth dealing with the cash only-ness. If you're looking for karaoke, cheap drinks, and/or a pool table, Bobby's Monkey Bar is the spot for you! You just have to walk down a shady looking side street from Duval, and look for a random white door with an awning. Bobby's is a dive bar, but a fun place for a casual night out with friends. We stopped by around 10pm on a Saturday night, and they were busy but not packed. It was about a 15 minute wait for karaoke, and they have an extensive song list to choose from. There is only one bathroom stall here, but it was surprisingly clean.

A very locals bar, food and service was fantastic. And the ambiance makes you want to keep going back.

Just your typical neighborhood bar. We had a lot of fun here with the first shift bartender, Morty? Then when the shift changed we left because the female bartender that came had a for shit attitude. Came in a few days later and caught Morty for one round. Then the same lady came in and the mood soured so we left. 5 stars for Morty, no stars for the other bartender.

Sang karaoke for my first time here! DJ was amazing and so supportive. Bartender Deborah was great too! You have to pop in and grab a drink and some tunes! When in Key West you got to try something you've never done!

Small bar a few blocks from Duval Street. Cash only, which I'm not thrill about -- and frankly, makes no sense whatsoever given that Key West's economy relies almost entirely on tourism. The bartender was friendly, though. They have a pool table, but you run the risk of whacking people at the bar with the cue.

We stop here for a drink every time we go to Key West. Love the neighborhood feel. Met some other friendly locals and had a nice chat. Will return here in the future.

LOVE this spot. Walking distance from our house, always fun (karaoke YAY!) but don't tell anyone because then everyone will go and it won't be a dive bar any more LOL JK! Go!

We walked in & almost walked right back out due to the smoke. The place will leave you smelling of cigarettes after just a few minutes. The drinks we're reasonably priced, but we couldn't stay for longer than just one due to the smell and the smoke.

Rude bartender! Ask me to pay for every drinks as we go, because they couldn't/wouldn't start a tab (even if I give them my CC AND iD). Dive bar, yet they act like they don't need customers. Bartender would even speak to us. We are locals, and Not coming back.

For a bar listing itself as being open and inviting, It was quite the opposite. From the moment I walked in with friends and family, we received dirty looks by staff. After using the bathroom for three minutes there is pounding on the doors hurry up. The DJ who works with karaoke skipped us multiple times and let others go ahead. Also made a scene on stage when one of us didn't put our name on the slip for the song chosen. Stated "I can't fucking help you if you don't put your name in". Just an overall vibe of get out of our establishment. Drinks were mediocre. Unfortunately the taxi driver recommended this place. They will not be recommended by me or receive one more penny from me or anyone I know..

This was our third visit to Bobby's and we ALWAYS have an awesome time. It always starts slow, then gets busier and the more people you talk to the better time you have. We are karaoke lovers so when the music gets going it's always a blast. Ever single trip we have met new friends! The bartender each time we have been was Elaine, who always seems super grumpy and even at times rude, but somehow she always grows on me by the end of the night. One drawback, as others have mentioned, is this is a cash only bar. Other than that, it's a great night out!

Thinking about it a bit more over the years, this is DEFINITELY the best monkey bar in south Florida

Was excited to find a local bar to grab drinks and have some fun. Walked in and bought one round of drinks, put the change on the bar, sat at the bar, went to sip my first drink, and bartender came over, pushed our change back to us and said that if we were only going to leave the change, that we could leave. I've been a bartender for 25 years and never treated customers that rude. Had the bartender been reasonable considering we didn't even sip our first drink, we would have stayed and bought more drinks at this establishment. Needless to say, we left a good tip and didn't even finish our drinks, but won't be back.

This bar is the best jump bar key west has.. Its from the busy,craziness on Duval .. the karaoke was fun the beverages are moderate and there's a pool table .. certainly suggest this jump bar it's one of only a handful barely any great spots key west has

OMG!!! I have been going to key west for years and years and I how come I haven't been to this gem of a place!?!?! There's only a few gay bars in Key West and my husband and I stumbled upon this place on a Sunday night for karaoke after a long day deep sea fishing (dolphin was on the menu). Anyway, Bobby's Monkey Bar has, by far, the cheapest drinks on the island, the sweetest and most lovely bar-maid (don't forget to tip her good!), the strongest drinks, jovial and fun locals, and ice cold air conditioning!!!! Pool table is available for a dollar in quarters and is cash-only. I have no idea why people on yelp complain that its cash only.....at least you know how much your spending on drinks and not blindly swiping your card! But will most definitely ditch the other bars (gay or other-wise) and come back to this place because I think I have found my dive.

I'm realizing quickly that hanging out with the locals/semi-locals, you see a whole different (and frankly interesting) side of Key West. This bar is nestled among the residential areas of Key West back in a neighborhood. This was the first stop after flying in that afternoon and it was time for a cocktail. This bar did not disappoint. Small and dark, it was definitely a little dive bar, but in a somewhat charming sort of way. Cash only, but if you show up without, they have an ATM right there. Drinks were cheap and plenty strong. They have a u-shaped bar right inside the door, but if it is full, there is a rail that runs around the place where you can set your drink and talk. They also have a pool table in which several friends took part. If you're looking for a cheap drink with a kick, this is your place.
