Where to Get the Best Boiled Crawfish In New Orleans Right Now

"Bobby’s Seafood in Harahan is a seafood market that sells fresh and boiled seafood, as well as the traditional list of po’ boys (i.e. shrimp, oyster, catfish, roast beef, etc). The food is solid and the freshness of the seafood can’t be beat. It’s mostly a market, but there are a couple of tables. Live mudbugs in sacks too." - Clair Lorell, Beth D'Addono

Best crawfish pies and shrimp I have ever had. Great food, excellent service and even better people!

Google
The staff is always so friendly and welcoming! Their food is the absolute best! Every year when we visit my Dad, we make sure to get to Bobby's for our fried oysters, shrimp po-boys & boiled crawfish, & stuffed artichoke casserole! You won't be disappointed with anything you order!

Catfish & Shrimp combo. Friendly service and great seafood. Highly recommended if you're hungry.

We are from Chicago area. So don't know any thing about crawfish sucking and family friends of the restaurant showed us how. Awesome food just what we wanted

LOVE the shrimp poboy, fries, and friendly staff! Plentiful shrimp and the bread is one of the best poboy breads I’ve eaten—crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and just the right thickness! My new favorite shrimp poboy spot.

Located in the heart of Harahan, Bobby's Seafood emerges as a cherished destination for those in pursuit of genuine Louisiana culinary delights. This seafood sanctuary offers both aficionados and casual diners a chance to indulge in the state's rich flavors through its market-style presentation of fresh and expertly boiled seafood, alongside classic po' boys filled with shrimp, oyster, catfish, and even roast beef. Bobby's is more than just a seafood market; it's a warm, family-operated gem where the essence of Louisiana-style cooking is celebrated daily. The space is unpretentious yet inviting, prioritizing the quality of its offerings and the satisfaction of its guests over elaborate decor. With its reasonable pricing and commitment to top-notch seafood coupled with exceptionally welcoming service, Bobby's Seafood stands as a must-visit spot for anyone craving an authentic taste of Louisiana, be it for a quick bite or a sumptuous Cajun feast. My recent visit to Bobby's Seafood for their much-acclaimed boiled crawfish turned out to be a gastronomic success story. I got a hefty five-pound order, from which I meticulously peeled 136 tails, encountering only one questionable contender – a testament to the quality and care put into each batch. This endeavor yielded an impressive 27.2 tails per pound, a figure that speaks volumes about the generous portions and the meatiness of the crawfish served at Bobby’s. The fruits of my labor were twofold: two cups of succulent crawfish tails ready to be transformed into various delectable recipes and sixteen cups of rich crawfish shells, earmarked for a flavorful stock. This not only promised future culinary delights but also showcased the value and sustainability inherent in my purchase, allowing me to maximize every ounce of my order. Bobby's Seafood delivers on the promise of well-cooked, perfectly spicy crawfish. The seasoning was masterfully balanced, offering that sought-after kick without overwhelming the palate or igniting a firestorm in your mouth. It's a spicy equilibrium that enhances rather than masks the natural, sweet flavor of the crawfish. My experience at Bobby’s Seafood was overwhelmingly positive, marked by high-quality seafood and the kind of hearty, flavorful meal that leaves you planning your next visit before the first has even concluded.

Google
Mmmmmmhmmmm good. Thx for everyone involved in your hard work. I can always count on Bobby's to be fantastic experience

Google
Edit: crawfish has gotten way better. Super juicy and meaty! Crawfish is alright, really salty. Average sized crawfish. Their large shrimps are the best purchase.

Yelp
This place is busy which is usually a good thing, but I think I came at the busiest time. I came here right after a group a firefighters placed the hugest order ha. Needless to say, I waited quite a while for my poboy. The place is a standardly small seafood shop with a few small stool tables and you can buy seafood, stuffed artichokes, and other things. There is a decent variety of poboys and few places offer a breaded veal cutlet. So, I ordered that and it was ok, probaly not the best breaded veal cutlet I have ever had. Overall, the place is decent and the location is nice too.

Yelp
When i was little all my friends would ride their bikes to stores for candy I'd always detour and get stuffed crabs at Bobby's or pickled eggs from a convenience store. I'm 59 years old so remembering how delicious this place is speaks for itself.

Jackie S.

Yelp
I have been coming to Bobby's since they were off garden road. It had always been my go to for poboys, gumbo, and crab bisque. In the past year the prices have gone up and the quality is way down. Both the gumbo and bisque are more watery than before. Almost nothing in either one verses loaded with seafood and vegetables. Bobby and Vicki no longer run the place and I think it shows. I'll have to find somewhere else to buy my seafood.

Yelp
Been going to Bobby's as a young man with my Dad and we still continue our tradition of going to Bobby's. Best Gumbo on any globe and a once a week minimum st my house always good to go to Bobby's

Brian F.

Yelp
They coffee on my food and still gave it to me. So I got a spit sandwich. So if I was you I would never go ther .unless you like a spit sandwitch.

Yelp
Had a taste for seafood, so I stopped at Bobby's.  When I got there, it was about twelve minutes before closing time. The kitchen had just closed. But the lady at the counter said, "we have freshly boiled crawfish that just came up," so I got a pound just for me. While I waited for my crawfish, I noticed crabmeat, seafood gumbo, cocktail claw fingers, and other seafood related items on ice that they also sell. My crawfish order was filled and ready for pick up. I ate that first crawfish, and it was succulent and seasoned quite well. Not everyone gets crawfish right, but Bobby's does. I thoroughly enjoyed my crawfish and will definitely stop by again.

Yelp
Bobby's Seafood is consistently good, whether you're ordering fresh or fried seafood.

Madison G.

Yelp
The boiled crawfish were delicious, spiced well, decent size, and only $5 a pound which is good for this early in season

Yelp
I was in town visiting my sister and she asked me to stop here and pick her up a fish dinner and what ever I wanted for dinner. It's not really a sit down and eat restaurant, they have a couple of 2 tops but it's mostly To Go/ Food Seafood Deli I ordered a shrimp po-boy and 5lbs of boiled crawfish and 1lbs boiled shrimp. OMG it's been a couple of years since I had boiled crawfish they were absolutely delicious!! The shrimp and fish were seasoned well. Needless to say I went back a couple more times while I was there and they did not disappoint!! Enjoyed it every time. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town!

Yelp
VERY tasty po-boys. Awesome crawfish dishes. The service was nice and attentive. I had the shrimp po-boy. Didn't need any add'l sauce. It was just the right size. I'll most definitely be back for more!

Yelp
Fantastic lunch spot with a wide variety of seafood and great poboys. The fried shrimp are great.

Kip K.

Yelp
Definitely one of my favorite places to eat when I come home(moved out west). Bread is alway fresh, PoBoys are always stuffed well. Tastes great! Shrimp are always good too. During crawfish season, it's our GoTo Place for boiled crawfish.

Yelp
Wow! What happened to this place? I used to love it. The last couple times have been mediocre experiences, to say the least. I stopped by to get a seafood platter today, and just wow. Very bland, the fish was dry, there was an overload of cornmeal or whatever that was, and the oysters were meh. The customer service is also not the best. I guess I will have to do away with Bobby's.

Rachel R.

Yelp
Great fresh seafood. Great reliable plates and po-boys. The gumbo and stuffed crabs are yummy. Always enjoy
google avatar

Jasmine J.

Yelp
I was looking for a boiled crawfish spot in New Orleans that resembled back home, and I think I found it. I tried the boiled crawfish, corn, and potatoes. It was delicious. The crawfish were flavorful, and they had a nice kick. They were not too expensive, and they were small/medium sized. The corn was sweet, and the potatoes needed seasoning. I gave it a 4 because the crawfish on the outside was hot, but the tails, corn, and potatoes were cold. In addition to the cold food, I felt like I was being rushed to order which also contributed to my rating. All in all I will definitely try them again.

Joshua J.

Yelp
Rude as hell, really hate feeling like an inconvenience just for being a patron of a business. Been here several times & the crap treatment gets old. Only show in town & so they can get away with it.
google avatar

Penny B.

Yelp
Best seafood around! Boiled seafood is flavorful, Poboys, platters, etc cooked to perfection.

Thu S.

Yelp
Good seafood I had a fish plate and the shrimp Po-boy they were fried perfectly the staff member are great they get you out fast

Yelp
Man I don't know where to start. This place is a rat infested pig sty. The guy who owns it goes by "Ryan Esteves" and he doesn't really care as long as no one from the city tells him something. The tables are always dirty and the service non existent. You would have to try really hard to find a dirtier place than this. Ryan... Grab a broom and mop.. and try being sanitary for once. I hope you change your ways but I doubt anyone will go to your disease portal.

Joseph C.

Yelp
Average today but easiest item french fries were terrible greasy full of old oil I'm guessing & not real potatoes.
google avatar

Victoria N.

Yelp
Whether it's fresh seafood or ordering from the kitchen everything is first class. The " deli to go" items like stuffed mushrooms, turtle soup and gumbo are so well prepared I can serve them to company. One of my favorite things is salmon. I don't know where they get those salmon filets from, they are gorgeous! Victoria Normand

Yelp
Interesting that everyone is reviewing Bobby's as a sammich joint. I've only ever used them as a fishmonger. (Why, yes, I do like saying fishmonger, why do you ask?) My family has ordered everything from pre-boiled shrimp to live crawfish to fresh oysters. The seafood is always first rate. C'mon they have to be good since they're housed in a former gas station.
google avatar

Kris A.

Yelp
Great local seafood at reasonable prices. My family has been getting our seafood on a reg basis here since the early 90's and they have stayed consistent. Theres only 3 high top tables to dine in so many take orders to go. They also sell live seafood. Pretty nice size menu with plenty non seafood choices as well. Ask for extra cocktail or tartar sauce because the containers are minuscule. They open early in the morning, I have no idea why(who eats a poboy for breakfast), and they close fairly early. If there is a line out the door, dont fret,it moves quickly.

Yelp
We had heard good things about Bobby's. Last Saturday we were over in River Ridge and finally got to try them for ourselves. On one side of the store they offer a good variety of fresh seafood and fish related products for purchase. On the other side of the place is the kitchen. They have a counter and 3 tables for dining in. We selected 3 different po boys to try and an order of onion rings. Our order did not take too long and we ate there. The onion rings were the best I've ever had. They were fresh made with really flavorful spices in the breading. Out of the po boys we tried, I recommend the shrimp. I'm not a fan of bbq beef, but theirs was pretty good. The sauce was excellent and it was VERY messy! (Which is the sign of a good one, right?...lol...) Luckily, each table was equipped with a roll of paper towels and antibacterial hand gel. I would definitely go back!

Yelp
Hot sausage po-boy done right! Great, perfectly crispy/flaky Leidenhemer French bread, with classic grilled hot sausage patties. It tastes like Patton's, though I didn't confirm that. I probably wouldn't order the fries again. They were a little too greasy for my liking. They are the battered kind. I normally don't mind those kind of fries, but these were just too greasy, but still crispy. The place is clean and offers a lot of homemade take out food items (potato salad, stuffed bell peppers, stuffed artichokes, and many other items). They also sell boiled and fresh seafood by the pound. There aren't that many tables, so you're better off taking your food to go. The dining area is also very tiny. They do have a covered picnic table area outside. The place looks like it is a converted gas station. I also didn't see any public restrooms. Parking is fine and prices reasonable. I'll be back for sure.

Yelp
I was staying with friends in River Ridge for a few days before heading to Baton Rouge for some volunteer work and every time we drove by, they would tell me how good the po' boys at Bobby's Seafood were. One day, my friend came down with stomach flu two days before their Krewe's ball so that day, I walked over for a po' boy. Bobby's is a local deli with only a small 3-table dining area inside that serves po' boys at very reasonable prices so I ordered a dressed fried catfish po' boy. The catfish was fried with a deft touch rendering it crispy outside, moist inside, and without being oily; a little ketchup and hot sauce and I demolished the sandwich. You can't beat Leidenhemer as the perfect texture bread for po' boys. The same catfish po' boy that cost $6.50 at Bobby's would be $10 in other parts of New Orleans and the staff were really nice to the many neighborhood residents, construction crews, and parents with kids who stopped by to eat here. Bobby's Seafood is a great local find.

Yelp
On our way back to Texas and decided to stop and have one more round of seafood. Best food we had all weekend. They do it right!!! Well worth the stop!

Yelp
When we want fresh seafood, Bobby's Seafood is the place we go in the River Ridge / Harahan area. It's more than just a seafood store (one side offers a great seasonal selection of seafood) as there is a kitchen that serves sandwiches and platters. Restaurant may be pushing the envelope. Yes, you can dine in, if sitting on stools at one of the three high top tables qualifies. However, it's not for dreams of white tablecloth service that you go to Bobby's. It's for the fresh seafood, boiled crabs, and great po-boys. The vast majority of their business is on a carryout basis. Every now and then, when I'm in the mood, I don't mind eating a sandwich and spend my lunchtime watching the people come and go. The line moves relatively quick so there is no long wait for the customers. They offer a variety of po-boys boy sandwiches (not just seafood), and some platters to go. I recommend their shrimp po-boy, but then I'm very partial to well made fried shrimp po-boys boys. Definitely one of the better sandwiches in the city. There are other days when I'm more in the mood for some meat and I'll have to make a decision between on the three different sausages po-boys. Their roast beef are also good.

Yelp
Food is good and they have the best fries!! I would rate Bobby's 5 stars but they are unclear with hours and never seem to answer the phone. If they're closed wouldn't you think they would leave a message letting us? Nope.

Yelp
My family has been getting seafood and gumbo from Bobby's since 1980. They have the BEST SEAFOOD GUMBO in the world. Hands down. We buy the gumbo by the gallon. (Actually by the quart but we buy multiple at a time and always have some in the fridge). Whenever someone comes in from out of town we introduce them to Bobby's gumbo and they always want to know how they can take some home. It is packed with shrimp and crab claws. A long, long time ago they actually used to put two halves of blue crap in each quart but now it is just crab meat, crab claw and shrimp. Their potato salad is awesome as well. They don't have the best poboys in New Orleans area but they are decent. Their fried soft shell crab is probably the best they have to offer. Their boiled crawfish are great as well as their seasonal offering of fresh and boiled seafood. If you live Uptown or anywhere else in the city, do yourself a favor and make the drive out to Bobby's for some of their gumbo and you will be sure to impress your family and guests.
google avatar

Sharie B.

Yelp
Hands down, best po-boy in NOLA, or at least Harahan/River Ridge. Whenever I am back home a stop at Bobby's is a must. Oyster or Shrimp, dressed with a root beer and I am good.
google avatar

Jay T.

Yelp
Bobby's Seafood is a tiny, converted gas station & convenience store. While plain, it is neat and clean, inside and out. Their specialty seems to be raw seafood and sandwiches. I ordered the shrimp plate ($12.95), which came with a good side salad (with premium dressing- Newman's Own), better-than-average fries, and a bountiful portion of fried shrimp, over toast. It was well spiced and not at all greasy. This is a place to check out. They were paranoid about me taking photos. Sorry, but I needed them, for the review. RJT

Rhiana R.

Yelp
My family and I have being going here for years. For the most part, it's a pretty good place to get a decent po-boy or even Fresh seafood. That's why I was highly disappointed when I went to eat my pre-packaged boiled shrimp....I noticed that they were going bad!!! When I opened the pkg, the smell almost knocked me out of my chair!!! There is no way I will be buying anymore food "fresh" or otherwise from Bobby's! This is such a disappointment. Shame on y'all.
google avatar

Alec R.

Yelp
For an authentic New Orleans seafood lunch experience, Bobby's is where it's at. I enjoyed a spot-hitting catfish poboy. Cheap and delicious. With an ice cold Corona to wash it down I was satisfied as all hell. Do yourself a favor and stop by!

Alfred F.

Yelp
Bobby's seafood had been in River Ridge for over 35 years. I remember when they were located at the corner of Garden road and Jefferson Hwy before the current shopping center was developed. Nostalgia aside they have great seafood period. Fried shrimp poboy is my favorite sandwich. Be sure to order your crawfish about a week early the work of Good Friday and Mothers Day weekend.

B H.

Yelp
Wow, ordered today's special, Pastalaya and also a catfish plate to go. Both were delish. The catfish plate could feed two peeps. I also got a stuffed artichoke to go! Yum! They need to post their standard menu on Facebook, not just the special of the day. Please post the regular menu on FB
google avatar

Mona C.

Yelp
This used to be my go to place for boiled crawfish. Ordered some on Friday, feb. 9, and had to ask if these had been boiled that day. Cold, not nearly seasoned enough with many inedible mud bugs. Very disappointed
google avatar

Faith A.

Yelp
My family has been coming here for years. It is a great place to get fresh Louisiana seafood. I would describe it as a fresh seafood market/poboy shop. My only complaint is that they do not stay open late so its tough to get there after work on the weekdays, but its a family run joint so thats par for the course. They have more than just poboys and fried seafood they also have great prepared food like turtle soup, gumbo, and seafood stuffed bell peppers. They also sell the best remoulade sauce that they buy from a local vendor and it comes in a mason jar. Take that and some of their boiled shrimp and I'm good. Bobby's is my go to place when I'm in the mood for some awesome seafood.

Billy J.

Yelp
Best boiled crawfish in the New Orleans area. I ordered 80 lbs this past weekend for a party. Everyone loved it. Good size and perfectly seasoned. Extremely reasonable price. I can't recommend them enough.
google avatar

Mark N.

Yelp
There is a saying, "don't judge a book by it's cover." In the case of Bobby's, the saying holds true. Great food at a great price. Based on the location and appearance, you would not think much about Bobby's. However, contrary to its location (on Jefferson Highway), appearance, a refurbished gas station with little parking and seating inside, the food is great! The essence of New Orleans food, boiled crawfish is as my good friend who lives close by, one of the best. Bobby's does a great job of "purging" the crawfish of their impurities resulting in great tasting crawfish. They are boiled just right - not to spicy with enough flavor to enhance its flavor that goes oh so well with Abita (local brew). In addition to the crawfish, they also serve the usual fare: po boys, fried catfish, oysters, shrimp, etc. Others have commented upon Bobby's other fares. However, for me, the main thing to eat/take out is it's boiled crawfish. I liked it so much that I ordered ten pounds of it to bring back home with me!

Yelp
First meal after landing. Shrimp Po boys and catfish platter. Very fresh. A good start for local taste.
google avatar

Coco P.

Yelp
Very good seafood poboys guaranteed fresh since they sell fresh seafood in the same building.

Jessica B.

Yelp
Nice place for a quick poboy. They offer some wonderful fresh seafood to take home and cook too. Always good quality
google avatar

Ray B.

Yelp
Every time we come to New Orleans, we come to Bobby's for their crawfish and we are never disappointed. We could honestly eat them every night. We've had them elsewhere in and out of New Orleans and nothing compares to Bobby's. Price is 1/3 of anywhere else. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Wanida S.

Yelp
Worth the stop! We are so full :) if your looking for a great shrimp and fish place - come here
google avatar

Lindsay V.

Yelp
They have a great shrimp po-boy. It is the best you can get for your money. And oh my god the onion rings. Me and my boyfriend split the 12 inch po-boy and an order of onion rings for lunch. It was a perfect meal for 2 people. The O rings (because that is what they will give you) don't even need sauce, but we did dip them in some Raisin' Canes sauce we had in our fridge, which was awesome. Definitely will return and recommend. I will get the fried oyster po-boy next.

Morriet T.

Yelp
I've been to Bobby's seafood for years. I have never had a bad meal there. Every thing I've had has been the best that I've eaten anywhere. Everything is well seasoned; and, cooked to perfection. The staff is friendly with busy people keeping things moving fast, You don't have to wait long for your meal to be ready. It is small and cozy, with just a 3 small tables inside; but, everything is arranged inside to allow a customer to view the foods in the case, I often go pickup a dozen stuffed crabs; which, are the best I've ever eaten in or from a restaurant. Seafood is fresh and portion sizes are big. You are not going to get perfection anywhere you go; but Bobby's is as close as you'll get to a perfect meal. I would eat there everyday if I lived closer. Clean place, great food and excellent service. I'll see you there.
google avatar

Amanda C.

Yelp
Best food for the prices, combo platters/poboys or freshly made selections from the deli, in the neighborhood! Service is fast and friendly, and food is fresh. Always call in your order if you can, because the waiting and sitting area is very small. I live a few minutes down the road, and my order is always ready within 5-15 minutes. You can pick up local favorites from the deli section while you're there, including stuffed veggies or meats. Not only do they provide a necessity to the neighborhood (good, cheap, poboy take-out!), they also supply boiled crawfish on select weekends. Call ahead to reserve for small or large parties if you're hosting a boil and don't want to clean up the mess. Their boiled crawfish are just as amazing as the poboys!

Laura M.

Yelp
SO RUDE!!! Im not sure how they stay in business except for the fact that they are the only place to get fresh seafood in the neighborhood. I haven't had a pleasant person at the counter in 3 years.
