This is an OK modern Ice House, which of coarse has taken the place of Jimmy's. I was never the biggest fan of that Icehouse, but it was a good spot to stop into every once in a while. After a few visits here, I feel the same. Its just a bar with a nice expanded outdoor patio and plenty of shinny new TV's. The two times I have been here, there was some kind of BBQ being made. Don't know if that is from the owners or they get someone to popup on occasion?
Bartenders work hard and are sweethearts, which is all you really need. They didn't seem to have a lot of knowledge on the Irish Whiskey though. I read a press release that said they wanted to be known for the Whiskey selection but didn't seem like anything out of the ordinary...lots of Jameson, Redbreast and a bottle of Yellow Spot. Also a large beer selection of pretty much all Macros. Not that that is bad, but it seems they are almost trying to have a bad beer selection. I can't remember the last time I saw so many taps from all the large breweries. They did have Live Oak Hefe on tap, but that is about the only thing that I saw that was not made from one of the big three (Miller, Coors, Bud) or Lone Star...lots and lots of Lone Star.
Anyway, all that to say its a nice place and glad the location didn't go to waist. I am sure they will do well, and like Jimmy's before, I will pop in from time to time. Just not among my favorites in the Heights right now.
