Singapore Bubble Tea Chain Bober Tea & Coffee Opens in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"A growing bubble tea brand founded in 2018 in Singapore, I checked out the new Mission Gorge Road outpost in the Grantville neighborhood—one of about 20 outlets worldwide and just the second in Southern California. The café is eminently Instagrammable, decorated with lavish pink flowers and disco balls, and is best known for its daily-made brown sugar boba that’s stir-fried at the counter and added warm to drinks. The Signature Milk Tea features brown sugar syrup and housemade cheese cream with a brulee’d brown sugar topping; other popular beverages include the Pink Haze (a hazelnut-flavored Vietnamese iced coffee with pink salted cream), jasmine tea infused with fresh strawberries, and a mung bean pandan latte sprinkled with edible rose petals. Customers can order ahead online or use a self-ordering kiosk to customize sweetness and choose add-ins like coconut or lychee jelly, crushed Oreos, and passionfruit popping boba, and there are paid upgrades such as a bear-shaped clear container called a “Bear Brick” and a mystery cup that hides a Sanrio plushie in its base. Local franchisees told Eater they plan to add Korean egg drop sandwiches and other breakfast items and may open more Bober cafes in the future." - Candice Woo

This place truly stands out with its unique approach to drinks. The menu offers a wide selection of signature beverages that are not only delicious but also beautifully presented with attention to detail. The atmosphere is cozy and stylish, making it perfect for evening hangouts or special occasions. The staff is professional and friendly. Prices are slightly above average. Overall, it’s a great spot for those who appreciate quality drinks and a pleasant vibe. I definitely recommend visiting at least once.

Super cute spot! The drinks were good and you have the option of selecting how sweet you would like them. They had a variety of mochinuts to choose from. We loved it! Cute spot for pictures as well!

This is my new milk tea joint since it's so close to home! Our girls loved the surprise cup. The Thai tea was delicious and so was the 24k matcha Vietnamese coffee. The shop is so cute and vibrant, a great place to take photos with your friends! The ease of placing an order was nice too!

The milk teas were very good. I got the signature which was pretty tasty but very sweet. My Fiancé got a regular milk teas and it was good. The boba was pretty darn good. We ordered some donuts as they were decorated and presented so nicely. We got Ube, Strawberry and a Creme brulee. The creme brulee was both of our favorite. I was excited to try the Ube one but to me it just lacked flavor. The shop is decorated nicely. Very cute little designs up on the walls. Their little pink chairs can really benefit from a steam cleaning but overall it was a good experience. If you're looking for a sweet treat in the area, I would recommend.

My friends and I came on a Sunday after 2pm and it was a little busy. They don't take orders at the front counter, you have to order at a kiosk and that's where the long line of waiting comes in. They only have 2 available and people take their time in choosing what they want. However, after you place your order there isn't that much wait, my friends and I probably waited around 10 minutes before our order was ready. I would recommend to check out the menu online, to have an idea of what you want and make your check out process quicker. I came here to get the Surprise Cup signature milk tea and I got what I expected, a super cute stuffy key chain! My total was $19.18 with the Surprise Cup milk tea/with 1 topping and a mochi donut. The donut was good at least the fruity pebbles flavor was and the milk tea was good too. Not extraordinary flavors, we all know what fruity pebbles and milk tea taste like but you come here because it's trendy, cute and for a little sweet treat. I will probably return with some more of my friends.

I've been coming here almost every week for the past two months because their oolong milk tea is seriously good. I've tried the same drink at a bunch of other boba spots, and this one stands out -- the tea has a nice aftertaste, the milk is rich but doesn't upset my stomach (I'm lactose intolerant), and the boba is fresh and chewy. That said, it's definitely pricey. I always pay $7.33 for a drink with a lot of ice and not much boba. It tastes great at first, but gets watered down halfway through, which feels unfair for the price. And if I want less ice, it's an extra $0.90 -- that just doesn't make sense. I can get a similar drink for cheaper at other big-name places in San Diego. Overall, it's worth trying once, but not something I'd get all the time or recommend for daily.

Parking was not a problem. However, the wait was longer than expected for just 3 boba drinks. It took about 20 minutes. I think they're still figuring out how to run it more smoothly. The Thai Tea Creme brulee and Supreme Pineapple green tea are pretty good. The kids love the $5 add-on surprised cup with toy.

Cute new boba and mochi donut cafe in Mission gorge. Nice to finally have a place like this and not have to go to convoy. Our favorites are the surprise box, mochi donut flavors churro, chocolate, strawberry, creme brulee. Hot drink strawberry matcha latte. We've only been here twice but can't wait to go back to try the rest!
