Bobo Drive In

Everyone was so nice here, from the waiter from the lady at the register, just everybody was warm and welcoming. I got a cheeseburger with french fries and their famous homemade root beer it was all very very good, I will definitely be coming back here. Do you know that the inside dining is not big but they do have counter seating too, and they do CarHop as well. My cheeseburger was so good and the toppings were fresh and my burger was served with mayonnaise. They have mustard and ketchup on the table already and if you prefer your burger without mayonnaise let them know. But mine was finger licking good, I will definitely be coming back to this joint! With my entire lunch and $2 tip it came out to $12.79. that's a really good deal. The hamburger is really lean, I believe the lady said that it is a 90/10ish mix. While I was there a lot of regulars and people were ordering their pork tenderloin, their Spanish Burger, regular hamburgers, cheeseburgers and they're homemade onion rings. This place is very cute, you simply must try it.

We had a really fun sit down with the kids inside this little diner this evening. We're really happy to have finally tried it. The service was possibly even better than the yums. We had a bit of everything from burgers, chili fries and mozzarella sticks, to onion rings, chocolate shakes and apple pie! Everything was really nice with nothing left to show for it!

This place has great food great customer service. The Car server Kayden was Nice & friendly. I had a double cheeseburger and french fries. I believe their french fries are the best in town

I ordered the a double cheese burger at bacon no pickles add onion. The burger melted in my mouth it was so amazing. I also got onion rings witch are mad fresh daily best onion that have ever been put in my mouth. I also ordered the home made rootbeer. The drink was amazing the flavor profile was so good. The balance was there vanilla was not over powering at all. It has a wonderful healthy flavor. All the staff were supper polite. The atmosphere was inviting and relaxing

Great little place! Excellent double cheeseburgers and onion rings! You gotta try the homemade root beer as well! (Side note- there’s no restrooms for public use). Server was friendly and so attentive! We tried the pork tenderloin and chili dog on a separate visit. They are both on the small side as far as serving size goes. I wish they offered coleslaw for the chili dogs. We also had a vanilla malt, not much malt flavor to speak of. I’d say the best thing they serve is a double cheeseburger! You can’t go wrong with that! Overall, it’s a nostalgic adventure, and reminds me of the drive in I used to visit when I was younger.

My family and I have been coming to BoBos for YEARS. No matter where in the world we live, if we're in Kansas, we're going to BoBos. Literally my favorite cheeseburger on the planet. I'm also obsessed with their vanilla shakes. Their apple pie and satin is one of a kind. You need to stop here.

If you are in or around Topeka you need to stop in and try a Double Spanish burger and fries. Smash burgers come out perfect every time and the fries are crispy. If you have room for dessert try the Famous Apple pie with Satin Freeze on it.

The food here is amazing! The burgers are the star of the show! Service was friendly and fast, absolutely a must if you're in the area! Driving through to Tennessee, and glad we found this hidden gem!

Old school type hamburger joint with friendly quick service. Just simple menu items with fair prices. Food is average but still yummy, definitely don't skip the dessert because that apple pie is delicious.

This is a fluke find last minute as we were coming through town and we are so bummed that we couldn't spend longer here. We will be finding excuses to come back. The fastest service ever, with amazingly fresh food. I wish we had told them it was our first time because after we were done they recommended next time to get the onion rings and pie. We got a single burger, fries and a chocolate shake. You can tell it's fresh for sure. Highly recommend a stop if you like a legitimate old diner environment.

Went to Bobo's Drive In as it is a DDD spot. It was ok. I had a cheeseburger, fries and the apple pie.

I've had this place on my "Foodie Bucket List" for a while now. Took a trip to Topeka and made a stop for some food. I was certainly not disappointed. It's an old restaurant so if you're wanting fancy or updated it won't be at Bobo's. I absolutely love these type of places; it's where the real food is. It says something when a mom & pop restaurant lasts for decades and those are the places we should support (and even celebrate) with our patronage. It's a small place for inside dining but you can do carhop service too. There's a counter shaped in a half-circle with old-school counter stools for sitting. There's also several tables. I ordered a Spanish burger and fries with my usual glass of water. The burger was a steak burger (in my opinion the only way to have a steak) with "Spanish sauce", lettuce, pickle, and maybe some onion but I'm not certain about that. The Spanish sauce" is their own recipe and it's a tomato-based sauce with sweetness. We were served by friendly staff. Our order came out probably within five minutes. Seriously it was that fast. The burger was cooked perfect with a little crust on the outside, and that sauce...damn, that sauce was really delicious. It reminded me of a cross between Ballymaloe Relish & barbecue sauce but thinner and not as sweet. I am really not a fan of shoestring fries and that's what they serve. They were cooked perfectly but I just like more substantial fries with my burger. I meant to get the onion rings but accidentally ordered fries. Next time it's onion rings, though. One other complaint, and I have this problem with many businesses...I would appreciate a real website. Believe it or not, not everyone is one FB and I'm one of them so please build a normal website that everyone can access and use. You want great old-school service and great old-school food at a decent price? Go to Bobo's Drive-In.

Stopped in for lunch, we went inside. They have 6 tables and counter service. You can also pull your car up and get car side service. Great burger and onion rings! Service was great and fast! Yes Diners, Drive-in and dives was here!

We went here because the folks went here back when they were stationed at Forbes in the 50's. It's still got yummy, yummy burgers!

When I think of a vintage diner, Bobo's fits the bill. First off, it's tiny with seating for no more than 20 people. It appears that a good part of what they do comes from the drive-in business. They've been open since 1948 with pretty much the same menu and all items made by hand (hand cut fries, onion rings, and the apples for apple pie). We chose to sit inside at the counter. Burgers, fries, a hot dog, onion rings, and milk shakes. That was pretty much our order. I'd say the Spanish burger and strawberry shake were the star items. The rest were pretty normal, nothing special. It's definitely a fun nostalgic place to visit. Hey, even Guy Fieri checked it out a couple of years back. 2022-9

Bobo's is a great little diner to get a bite to eat and a whole homemade Apple Pie to go. In 2007, Guy Fieri filmed Diners, Drive-ins and Dives there and I can see why. I don't know what particular dishs brought Guy there but I'm guessing it had to be their Double Spanish Burger. This was not just some pre-formed round, flat burger, cooked to death with toppings. It was fresh ground steak, loosely packed and spiced up. It was super juicy and full of flavor. I wish we had a Bobo's here in Buffalo.. To top it off the whole staff was real friendly. We were there on a weekday afternoon between lunchtime and dinnertime so for a while we were the only ones in there. However, it's a small diner so during peek times, expect to wait in a line outside but do wait, it's worth it.

Had the Spanish burger and onion rings. Both were delicious. Great locals place with homemade unpretentious delicious food.

We stopped at Bobo's on our drive from KC to Wichita. I have been to Bobos before, after seeing in on the DDD app, and remembered it was really good. Since I am on the search for the worlds greatest cheeseburger I thought I should definitely return! I didn't have much time to research prior to ordering so I just got the single cheeseburger and onion rings. The smash burger patty was enough for me but I could have definitely handled a double. The bun was fresh and the cheese was melted nicely and super creamy! My daughter had fries and I preferred them over the rings. Next time I would like to give the chili cheese fries a try but didn't want to attempt it while driving. The car service was fast and friendly! We hopped on the road and I didn't have a chance to get photos but definitely worth the stop!

Either sit in your car and be waited on or go inside. Great cheeseburgers and the onion rings are great. Chocolate shakes are fabulous! The homemade Apple pie is just like grandma used to make it. Have the Apple pie warmed up with ice cream put on it and it's excellent! They usually have a daily special too.

Very good smash burger. Good amount of cheese and veggies for the double cheeseburger. Tad greasy but that makes it taste all the better. Fries were small skinny but very good. Cool little place.

If you're looking to take a step back in time, Bobo's could be just what you want. Bobo's in Topeka, KS might be considered a historic drive-in because it's been open for more than 50 years. One can just imagine carhops on roller skates coming to take your order. Today it was a person in sneakers. The menu is a giant painted board on the wall as you drive up. There are faded prices on the board, but they seem to be accurate because we got two sandwiches with fries and onion rings for about $10. That's historic! There's a small eat-in area, but it's closed right now. The busy, double row of parking spaces is stretched out under a roof from the main building, kind of like Sonic but without the lighted, electronic menu. Simple, like the good old days. The menu is straightforward and also simple. I had wanted the bean soup, but they were out so I got the melted cheese sandwich with onion rings. It was exactly like it sounded--a white hamburger bun with a slice of cheese that was melted. Different but tasty. The onion rings were really good and appeared to be made there, not pre-frozen. Bookguy had a cheeseburger and fries which he liked. The portions were pre-SuperSize me style, meaning it was just right for lunch but no leftovers. Apparently they are known for their apple pie, but we didn't get it this time. If we ever get back to Topeka, we'll give it a try.

We are here from out of town! It was delicious!! If your looking for a good little burger joint you have found it!!

Since 1948 this is a town icon. Can't remember when we did not go there occasionally. I still go when I return to Topeka. Old style drive in with great fresh food

It wasn't a bad hamburger. I have had better, but for a dive like this, it was pretty good. And they do have a globe in there. That says that they were on Diners drive in and dives For their good food.

We were greeted within 7 minutes. The staff was great, very helpful, and quick to get out our food. We ordered way more than we needed but we were not upset about that. Everything was delicious, especially the grilled chicken sandwich.

The food wasn't fresh at all, ordered a chicken tender (which only comes with 3 for like $5.99, which seemed to just to be frozen and fried, the gravy was brown gravy which was runny and bland. Fries were separate and were bland and old. The fish sandwich was basically a fish fillet like McDonalds, but was not fresh either. I went shortly after 11am when they opened, so maybe I was served the day before leftovers. The only thing that was worth it was the strawberry milkshake. Not sure on how this place has been in business all these years, you're better off going to Sonic for a drive-in.

Fantastic kettle chips! Great hustle by the servers to get to us as fast as possible even when they are busy. We go often and always enjoy it.

Old fashioned drive-in.....excellent food ..... they don't try to load you up with empty calories like other burger joints. Hand rolled patties, well smashed on the grill, excellent onion rings (they're different), and the famous spanish burger. Also famous, and for good reason, the homemade on site apple pie with a side of soft-serve.......it alone is a reason to visit Bobo's. I've been going there since I was in Jr High school and I'm 84 !!!!!

If you close at 7:30 you should change your hours to reflect that. Food is good and service has been great up until now. I don't think recent choice in help is going to benefit your business. Bobo's has a old drive on feel.

Small dine in area, or wait in your car for a carhop. Tasty burgers, delicious homemade root beer, and awesome shakes. The onion rings and fries are good choices as well.

This place is a super yummy local spot! Make sure to get the strawberry milkshake The burgers and fries are amazing, and even though I haven't tried it, I heard that the apple pie is great as well! Staff is friendly and it has great personality inside.

This was my 437th Diners Drive in's and Dives Restaurant. I ventured out from Lawrence Kansas to visit this landmark roadside stand. I sat at the counter and enjoyed a conversation with the manager who gave me the history of the place as well as friendly small town welcomeness. I sampled the menu with a pork sandwich and a Spanish burger some onion rings and the apple pie. All it's were what I expect, acceptable yet nothing spectacular. This isn't a bad thing, the charm and history of this place gives it the 5 star rating. Long live BOBO's Drive in.

Came here around lunch last week because I heard good things about this place. The burgers were delicious but the service was horrendous. A red haired lady took care of my wife and I and she was just absolutely awful. Seemed like she hated her job and would rather be anywhere else but there. The lady at the register was talking about personal stuff on the phone. We will not be dining inside anytime soon and we do NOT recommend dining inside if you want to receive good service. However I will be willing to give this place another try by using the drive-in option instead.

Can't beat a Bobo's burger! Service is outstanding and friendly and although seating may be tight at times that just proves how good they are!

Authentic, historic, family-run drive in. I got the Spanish hamburger with jalapeños. Delicious. It comes with a sweet ketchup type sauce. The fries are hot and tasty the service friendly. The drinks are cold and refilled. What more would you want from a drive in.

I came into town on a terribly rainy evening and needed some dinner. While a steakhouse was an option, something quick so I could hideout in my hotel room for the night was in order. I've been to a couple places featured on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives and they've generally created positive experiences. This one was no doubt. It was closer to closing time but I got space without any trouble, despite the very small size of this location. The cheeseburger was very good, even though the format doesn't always lend itself to deliciousness. The patty is super-thin, which is counter to the trend of thick patties these days. However, the offering here has a crispy exterior but still isn't dried out inside. The cheese does make it as well. I was a little wary of the onion rings based on reviews but went for them anyway. While they weren't amazing, they were passable. The exterior is pretty crispy, but the rings are fairly greasy. The scratch-made apple pie is a definite winner, with a flaky crust and a nice apple filling inside that isn't too goopy or saucy. It was a little different having soft-serve ice cream for the a la mode, but it made for a decent accompaniment for the pie. The homemade root beer is pedestrian and nothing special, but if you enjoy root beer, then go for it. Service was extremely welcoming, especially since the owner's son heard we were from out-of-town. You can see evidence of Guy Fieri's presence here, and I'm not talking about his shades.

I have only been here once and I don't think I will return. Yes, I love the atmosphere; it's a total time warp and they have the old timey car hop. I thought the burger and fries were decent. My reason for the 3-star review is the service. I felt like the lady that served us was rather, well, unhappy. She wasn't rude but she gave us the feeling like she hated being there. With other burger options in town that are not only just as good for food, I will go elsewhere for service that is better. We felt rather unwelcomed.

My first real drive-in besides Sonic!! Haha, it was really small and humble place. If you go inside it could probably fit about about 30 ppl max! I wanted to try it out since it's been around forever and the locals swear by the place. I got the double cheeseburger with the onion rings! They're also known for their shakes and apple pie which a local couple recommended I get after overhearing my convo with the server. The cheeseburger was delicious, nothing terribly fancy or special but it hit the spot! The onion rings were for sure the crispiest I've ever had in my life! Taste was okay. And the apple was filling was amazing! Very fragrant and warm but the crust was not as flaky as I'd like. Overall, I'd go back for another quick bite~

This restaurant is a good old fashioned drive in restaurant. The food was delicious. I am a sucker for homemade flakey onion rings. The burgers are also very good. The staff there is friendly and the food comes out very quick. You can order from your vehicle, order to go, or eat in the dinning area/counter. The dining area is small though so, I hope that there is not many of you. So I recommend checking out this place. The drive in is a dying breed and this joint will have to going down memory lane and with a good meal to boot.

Definitely stop in for lunch or dinner. Got a corn dog, fries and a shake - this lunch did not disappoint at all. Saw someone's onion rings and they looked delicious. It's everything you want in a little dinner - complete with checkered floor and a counter.

Great service! It was pretty busy but the boys doing car side were very quick to get orders in and out as fast as possible. The food was so good! Highly recommend the steak burger and kettle chips (which were fresh when we received them). You can't beat the price!

My experience here might have been better had I not spilled my root beer on myself but this is a solid four stars. Bobo's is a classic and nostalgic old drive-in that serves up tasty burgers, fries and onion rings. (I can't speak for the desserts because we were too full). Burgers are fresh and cooked to order but on the small side--I recommend getting a double. Our fries and rings were cooked in clean, fresh oil and served up hot. We were here after the noon rush so there was room to sit down inside and our service was great (she was quick with a pile of paper towels to help me clean up my spill). Bobo's is well-worth a visit and I just can't help thinking about what it must have been like on Saturday nights a few decades ago.

On the way back to my brother's house we stopped by because I had heard about the apple pie on TV. We took the pie back to his place and the family enjoyed it for our late night snack. The apples were tender and melted in our mouths! The special of the day was the tenderloin and a drink which we both purchased and LOVED! I think my brother got the fries and I got the onion rings which were good also. I can't wait to stop by and get another pie, it WAS that good! I will also be taking tenderloins back!

Very good place for old fashioned hamburger place. Plus shakes and malts. I had the pork tender and chili cheese fries. So good!

I have always wanted to eat here a Bobo's and today we came back for seconds. We brought my Mom to try out home-made root beer float. Yesterday their home made onion rings passed the test. Today we tried their home made root beer oh my goodness, I want to make root beer again. Mom tried their chicken tenders with gravy. Every thing is sooo good.

Came to try out the famous Bobo Drive In. I was immediately greated when I pulled up. Waitress was friendly. I ordered a simple cheeseburger and fries. The cheeseburger was tasty. A bit crunchy at the edges. The fries were fresh and they gave me quite a bit of them. Only a little over $5, so not bad on pricing. I'll probably be back again some time. We were on our way through town and stopped because of the Tripple D episode and Yelp reviews. The burgers and pie do not disappoint and our waiter hussled. The owner Trish is super sweet too! We only come through town once every couple years but we'll be back!

Double Steak burger was great. Onion rings were so greasy. They soaked the bag they placed in and all the napkins in the bag. Even the seat in the car.

Normally I would of given BoBo's a much better review. But we drove in the evening of Saturday July 16th. Long story short the service was horrendous, never got anyone to come out and take our order, after 20 minutes we left. They were not that busy, they had 4 people on staff. We ended up leaving and driving over to the Pad in North Topeka. Bobo's food is good I must admit, but the Pad's is just as good or better and their service is friendly, fast and efficient. Both have been a mainstay eatery in Topeka for decades. Hopefully our next trip to BoBo's will be better.

Great food and unique atmosphere with the Drive Inn! Burgers are simple yet so tasty. Really easy to see why this is a talked about restaurant. I had the Spanish burger and my girlfriend had the regular burger- both really good. The onion rings were hand battered and cooked fresh! Could have used more salt on them but had a great crunch. The apple pie we enjoyed the next day, but it was great still! Definitely worth a stop in Topeka KS!
