I don't crave ice cream often but when I do, I expect nothing but the best. My girlfriend recommended we go to this spot because it's been a staple in the area over the years. I ordered their banana split and it was THEBOMB.COM. I 100% recommend this spot but keep in mind that this place is CASH ONLY.

Sweet girl working the booth and providing excellent service. The soft serve here is absolutely delicious and always hits the spot, and the prices are very reasonable. Parking can be a bit of a hassle, but the tasty treats make it worth it!

This place is great for a treat or just a snack of ice cream. There was only one person working but the line moved quickly as the orders were large but was done without any problems. Looks like a local spot to get a sundae and satisfy the crave. A go to place!

Can't believe I never heard about this spot until recently. I was missing out! I got the chocolate dipped soft serve cone and it was so refreshing and satisfying. This will for sure be my summer spot. Just know they are cash only. I was lucky I had some on me.

I'm new to east LA and wanted to find a place like Foster's Freeze. This place doesn't have burgers which is fine cus FF didn't have good burgers anyway.. lol. However there is a place right next door that sells Mexican food! I got a banana sundae and a small sundae for my partner. Bomb! Bonus that's it's down the street from where I live. 🙂

Good ice cream but since forever it's been cash only .... You would think they would adapt & get a card reader. They would get a lot more business if it wasn't cash only

We've been coming here since my kids were little kids and every time we go to Los Angeles, it's a stop here for some good ice cream

This is our local Ice Cream parlor. In the heart of East LA and close to many other landmarks. Located near Atlantic and Beverly, walking distance from the Gold Line ending in East Los Angeles. We love the dipped cones and milk shakes. They also have delicious parfaits, banana splits, etc.. If you need a ice cream break in the day this is the place.

Always a treat and you can't go wrong with anything! They serve big scoops, everything's delicious and I would definitely recommend getting someone chocolate dipped or topped with chocolate. I love that they're open late and am happy they're still around after so many years!

4.4/5 Food- you can't go wrong with this ice cream stop. We tried the banana split, chocolate dipped cone, and the icecream slush. The most outstanding one was the chocolate dipped cone! Delicious warm chocolate shell and vanilla soft serve inside. Service- our cashier was swift and attentive. Portions are huge btw if you're getting a banana split it might be double than you think. Ambiance- most people park on the curb and get this to go. You may also stand at the storefront and enjoy your treat

Cash only. Plenty of parking in rear. So glad I stumbled upon this spot on yelp, will be coming back often. Strawberry Slush Float - not too sweet, soft serve was creamy and paired well the slush. So good! Large Banana Split - bananas, custard, chocolate syrup, strawberry puree, whipped cream and peanuts for crunch. Cone - so simple but good. Creamy and rich but light.

4++ small little mom and pop type spot that serves up some soft serve as well as other dessert treats. The folks here are very kind. Also note that it's cash only. I was in the area and I wanted some dessert. This place popped up on my radar and I thought it would be perfect. I am a huge fan of dipped cones. Ordered the small and it was a perfect size. Definitely hit that spot.

What We Ordered: -Cherry Slush Float -Chocolate Dipped Vanilla Soft Serve Cone The wife and I were in the mood for some ice cream. We found Bob's Freeze as we were down the street at Chroni's and wanted some dessert. My wife ordered the small chocolate dipped vanilla soft serve cone and it was good. She really liked it! I asked for some popular orders and was told the slush float which was slush with ice cream. I was additionally told that cherry was a popular flavor for the slush float. I'm a big slush fan. However, I wasn't a fan of the ice cream and slush combination. I'm sure some people dig it, but it wasn't something I enjoyed. I will come back, but stick to strictly ice cream.

When's it hot outside and summer is approaching, this is the place you wanna go to. Always love getting their ice cream sundaes here. We ordered the banana sundae and hot fudge sundae. Both were so yummy and perfect for the hot weather. Definitely need to come back to try their shakes and other menu items. Quick and friendly service. Located on the corner of Atlantic Blvd and Beverly Blvd. Limited street parking. Note: They're CASH ONLY.

This place changed owners used to be ran by a Asian women now ran by a Mexican lady and it's just not the same the quality is poor the cone was steel if my stomach hurts by the end of the night I know why lmao the ice cream was a 5/10 I won't return tbh

Local favorite. Been coming since I was little in 1980's with my older brothers. Now I come with my husband and kids.

CASH ONLY !!! As a quick heads up, this place only takes cash. Honestly such a random place I stumbled upon and it did not look particularly amazing from the outside. The ice cream itself though was truly amazing. It looks marvelous and tastes really creamy. Also was a very good price, would advise everyone to try.

Bob's freeze has been a staple in the community for so long and brings back childhood nostalgia. I wish every city had a Bob's Freeze. Their soft served banana split and sundaes are the best. Tried their slush float and it's just as good as it sounds. This spot is a summertime favorite or a great spot satisfy an ice cream craving. Service is always friendly. Remember to bring cash with you.

So glad I found this spot for soft serve. I got a dipped cone and it was so creamy and satisfying. The chocolate exterior had a nice texture once it cooled. I know where I'll be hanging this summer! I didn't know they were cash only. Thank goodness I had some on me.

Back for another strawberry slush float! It's like a snow cone with vanilla ice cream. This large was $6.20 Not sure if they don't give out change since I realized she didn't give me the 80 cents... but other than that, great place.

If you like cheap watery ice cream go to bobs freeze ! Service is regular nothing special ! Another down side is it's Cash only ! Also it looks pretty disorganized inside not so clean either ! Won't be returning !

Ordered 2 items 1 large chocolate dip ice cream cone = tasteless chocolate ( fake stuff ), cone was stale ( ack ) 1 strawberry slush = was good stuff

Despite the indifferent service from the worker (she was not very welcoming), I really enjoyed their ice cream. Soft served ice cream needs to be creamy, and thick and their ice cream hit the mark. On our way out of East LA to the IE I did a quick yelp search for some ice cream and found Bob's. I was gearing up for a +1hr ride back home and I needed some energy. Anything to get ice cream ha-ha. I ordered their banana sundae with strawberry syrup and everyone else got, a milkshake, and 2 chocolate dipped ice cream. I had read some reviews saying their ice cream was very runny so I feared they wouldn't be creamy but for our visit we were not disappointed. Glad we stopped by.

Bob freeze is located in EAST LA my home. Although I didn't grow up buying cones from here I wish I would have. Customer service is great (CASH ONLY) This is the perfect place to come with family especially little ones. (Be warned they want it all). Perfect for a date after a good dinner. Every thing they sell is worth trying the prices are a good match. Street parking and private parking. I will definitely ALWAYS come back.

Ice cream is delicious!! Brings me back to the old Dairy Queen in the 90's . Service was friendly and prices are very reasonable. I love that they are open late. Remember being cash as they ONLY take cash . No sitting area so we enjoyed in the car .

Oh yes! My favorite banana split! Been going since the 1990s! Please don't ever close! My kids love the dip cone and I'm addicted to the banana split and banana sundae! Highly recommend!

Stopped here and Got a simple ice cream cone and it was delicious! The service was great and quick.

Omg!! I have been coming here for so many years. My daughter and I came a couple of days ago to get a dipped cone. The employee took our order, we paid and went straight to the car to eat our dessert. I saw the lady get up and I saw she was plucking with her bear hands, tweezers her beard and mustache..!!!

Tired of bougie *artisan* ice cream, and craving an old school dip cone or banana split? Bob's Freeze has got you. This small walk up shop has been around for decades, and is very charming. Their menu offers parfaits, shakes, slush floats, and a variety of sundaes. It is attached to a Marisco place, so you have some ceviche first if you want. There are a few tables outside for seating. They accept cash only, but everything is $2-5, so you don't need much. The ladies working were sweet, and it was fun watching them hand dip the cones into chocolate. The soft serve was ultra rich and creamy, and the chocolate dip shell offered the perfect crunch. Simple and satisfying. 10/10.

Soft serve was delicious but was very surprised and sad that they didn't have any chocolate or rainbow sprinkles which are traditional ice cream toppings. They did have sundays, banana splits, slush and dip.

I must say that Bob's Freeze is an excellent little ice cream place that will meet most of your ice cream/dessert needs. Make sure to beat the lines when it starts getting warmer.

This is one of those rare stores that only does one thing but is very good at it. Bob's Freeze serves only vanilla flavored soft serve but boy oh boy do they make it right! Theirs has a texture that is above its price range and would put budget soft serves like McDonald's to shame. Bob's tastes natural, milky and rich without feeling too synthetic or cheaply made. A few things to keep in mind: this establishment accepts only cash (no Zelle or Venmo either) and operates as take-out only. There is no seating available but the attached Mexican restaurant beside has some fixed chairs and tables.

They charged me 50cents more for the cup they did not have. Does not look nothing like the picture they have on display. Disappointed on the service

Very friendly experience here. Associate was the best. She was very friendly, polite, and professional. Had a banana shake with chocolate. Fresh ingredients. Just the right amount of thickness for me. Clean area. My brother had the small banana split and it was great according to him. The small was more than enough for him. Could taste each ingredient. Bananas had the right amount of ripeness. Will be back. I've been missing it while traveling into the area. Thanks for the positive experience.

Perfect little place for an inexpensive and nostalgic frozen treat. Can't beat the prices--and the banana split is yummy! Street and back lot parking available. It's a very small, walk-up to a window to order kinda place. Service can be inconsistent although most of the time it's just whatever. It's a single employee managing the orders, making the treats, and taking payment so she isn't the friendliest. I usually make a pit stop here for 'dessert' after ordering shrimp tacos from next door.

Small little ice cream stand that offers pretty cheap ice cream. They are cash only and have some spots on the street to park right in-front of their business. Chocolate dipped vanilla ice cream: The ice cream melted almost immediately, so you have to eat fast. The soft serve was very smooth and yummy. I thought it wasn't as sweet as McDonald's soft serve, but still delicious, 5/5! They had several things on their menu including parfaits, slushes, sundaes, and shakes. I'll definitely have to return to try the others!

Didn't realize how close this was to me but I really wanted a chocolate dipped cone. I used to get it a Dairy Queen but don't live near one. Does anyone remember the ones they used to have at McDonalds? Anyone now to Bob's Freeze. Plenty of parking in the back. Cash only. Soft serve was nice and creamy. The chocolate dipped tasted a bit weird but acceptable. I went later in the day so maybe it sat there. Would definitely come back again. I can't find a dipped cone anywhere else

Love this place. Great place to get tour fill on soft serve. We usually get a sundae, a parfait, and a banana split, eat it in the car and then get a large dipped cone to top it off. Oh sure, you feel like throwing up after but you don't dare. Staff is always friendly. Cash only

Was looking for ice cream in the area to beat the heat and came across Bob's freeze, got there around 8pm and got their dipped chocolate cones , was really tasty and hit the spot during the summer heat. Lots of street parking but they also have a parking lot in the back, they're right next to a seafood place. Options a bit limited but after we got our cones there were constantly tons of people that stopped by and ordered a ton of stuff which is surprising on a Monday, but the female worker worked really fast.

The lady was really friendly and the prices were very reasonable. The small sundae I got was less then $4 good for 2 people already. The sundae and strawberry were both not too sweet which is what I like.

We found this small ice cream place, and we are glad we did. Enjoyable soft serve ice cream, with many other options to choose from.

This place has been here for yeeeeears! I was brought here when I was a little girl. The ice cream is so good! I have never tried the slushy drinks. I have tried the Sunday's and the banana split and the banana Sunday which is pretty much a mini banana split! I loved the banana Sunday! It was perfect! Not to much and both worlds in one. I enjoyed it! I only order chocolate or vanilla lol I don't care for strawberry or caramel toppings/ice cream. My sister loves caramel and strawberry toppings but she said she doesn't like the caramel here for some reason. She says it has a weird taste to it but I can't agree or disagree since I haven't tried it. This is definitely a place to try! The only thing is that there isn't a place to sit and enjoy the ice cream so that sucks. There are 2 tables up front but for the tiny restaurant right next to this place sooooo, prepare to eat in your car or just find a spot anywhere! I ate mine in my car with my AC on and music. I enjoyed it!

Came here all the way from West LA for the dip cone. Well, I was heading to Downtown, but had to stop for the dip. It's easy to find ice cream/soft serve, but not really a dip cone. So simple & cheap (for todays standards). Hits the spot. Wish I lived closer alas if you are in the area, come here for your simple ice cream pleasures.

I've been coming here since I was a kid. I'm 38 now. Ive made it a tradition to bring every one I'm cool with here. I always get the same pineapple malt my absolute favorite. Service is great. Make sure you bring cause it's cash only.

I was stopping by the area (I'm from SFV) and found this sweet little gem! The girl that helped me was so nice. I got the dipped cone and the ice cream was sweet but not overly sweet. Tasted milky but had a texture of a sorbet. Very much worth it!!!!!

Cool spot for soft serve ice cream! They are cash only. The parfaits are good & the chocolate dipped cones are tasty. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of flavor variety. The prices are fair. I would recommend it if you're in the area. They have been in business for a long time so they're clearly doing something right.
