Where to start....
...This was our first visit to a restaurant on our Louisville KY trip.
Good choice. This is on the south side of the hotel (you can reach it from the hotel inside, or from the street as we did. The ambiance is dark woods, lush booths, and just good service.
When we arrived, (we had reservations) we were seated in a nice booth and promptly greeted by Keara our server. The maître-d left menus and a darn good wine list.
First off was a wine selection - my wife and I both wanted to order a filet, so I went with a red wine - which by my luck, they were out of. I selected another bottle - instead of a St. Supery Dollarhyde, we had a bottle of Post Parade Stretch Drive, which was great.
While we were waiting for the entrees, Keara brought out a nice loaf of bread, and a bottle with "sour" pickles and peppers.
We split a single pickle and piece of pepper. A better description of them would be "not sweet." They were good, but if you are expecting Sour Patch Kids, it isn't that.
My wife actually ended up changing her order to their Filet Trio Combo, which had one filet medallion covered with Truffle Butter, one with chimichurri, and a pepper au-poivre sauce. She ordered it with a baked potato, it also came with a LARGE glazed Carrot.
I ordered their 12 ounce Filet with a baked potato and again, a Glazed Carrot which was LARGE.
The carrots were quite good, and the baked potato came with a slab of butter, and 4 cups with sour cream, bacon bits, chives and cheddar cheese (grated). Talk about kicking up a baked potato a few notches!
The steaks were cooked medium rare as we asked, and were delightful. Very tasty, flavorful, and enjoyable.
I already raved about the rest of the meal.
Sides (if you order them - we didn't) are "family style" so they are large and sharable. The salads can be ordered in "half" order or you can split a salad.
Service was very good, and the food and environment were great. This was a great start to a several day trip in Louisville!
