My husband and I have gone to this establishment for over a year and a half. We live in NYC but we have a house in Saratoga so we visit often. We order one of their most expensive champagnes, Paul Laurent, and I usually order the caviar for $140. We recently bought the champagne from a store for a dinner party and imagine our surprise when we realized that they don't increase the price by the customary 30% but make a profit on the bottle on each glass they sell for $30+. The bottle costs in the low $30s. This last time we went there, my husband was parking the car. I ordered our usual champagne but by mistake called it Saint Lauren. They have no such label. The server served me a glass of a Sancerre named Saint Veran. Every time we have gone there, the serve staff has been different. That should've been a clue. Staff turn-over is never good, especially in a small town. There was never a sense of familiarity. Long story short, the manager, Sam, behaved like I had wasted the most expensive class of wine which actually cost $18 a glass and so much less a bottle for them. She reluctantly offered to bring me the champagne but at that point I thought the mistake was mine. I ordered the caviar and had it with the wine. A little later, the server brought a flute glass and poured literally two fingers worth of the Saint Laurent for me as a "gesture." Really?! This was so cheap, so petty. The owner(s) would do well to replace their manager, Sam, as she has no idea how to keep or cultivate well-paying regular customers. Shame.
