"The young and the cool swarm Santiago’s original wine bar, located in the lively central barrio of Lastarria. The stylish space is home to 400 different Chilean wines (more than 40 of which come by the glass) and a creative menu of small plates broken up into tasting notes such as iodized, citrus, and herbaceous to match the wines. (Swing by the group’s second outpost, La Mision, for their famously extensive collection of some of Latin America’s best examples of grape diversity and winemaking style from Uruguay, Peru, Bolivia and beyond.)" - Bill Esparza, Hillary Eaton

Google
They Open nearly 50 bottles of Chilean wine each night so you can try a variety. Typically you get 3 tastings for about $10. Our server was very good at explaining each wine. They also serve food, which was excellent. Every dish we tried (4 of them in total) was delicious. The only drawback IMHO was the seating. The tables are small and the chairs are tall, narrow and now very comfortable. Everything else was great. Highly recommended in Santiago.

Google
Incredible place! The food is a wonderful experience. What flavor! Very friendly service who explained the dishes and suggested a wonderful white wine. Without a doubt, it has become one of my favorite places in Santiago. ❤️ Tip: Make a reservation as the place is busy!

Visited in June 2024 with my wife. Food and wine were both excellent. Highly recommend the empanadas. Many fun wine flights to choose from. Ideal if you want to taste a variety of local wines.

Google
This was the best meal I had recently. This restaurant/wine bar can easily compare with the top ones in NYC (where I live). My favorite dish of the night was the seaweed ceviche. Unique, and tasty - multiple textures (from crunchy to soft to everything in between), layered flavor (predominantly pleasantly tart from the citrus sauce, but also sweetness from tomato and celery, and a bit of saltiness from seasoning and the seaweed, among other complex flavors). The wine list and the flights have great variety, creative combinations, and informative descriptions. The wait staff explained things carefully and helped us, Americans with less knowledge of the cuisine, understand what was on the menu. A really great experience overall!

Google
Very friendly service. Great food and wine recommendations. My husband got the trout and was not majorly impressed but my venison dish (pictured) was delicious. And while I was dubious about the wine recommendation to pair with it, the waiter was 100% correct and it paired beautifully!

Google
Everything here was wonderful. Service, selection and price. A vibrant location in Santiago, and our party of 4 all picked the $45 fixed menu which gave us three x 50 ml wines with accompanying appetizers and then a main with a regular size paired wine, then dessert with a smaller glass of paired wine.

Google
We came here several times, great wine selection, delicious food. Definitely recommend Bocanariz. They have seats available outside as well. On the weekends reservation is recommended. The crab linguine, ceviche and deconstructed tangerine were particularly tasty. Friendly service.

Google
Such a cute place! I wanted to learn more about wine from Chile and I definitely did. But I didn’t expect absolutely delicious foodie level food. It’s just perfect. I enjoyed walking around this quirky and fun neighborhood and couldn’t have asked for a better spot to rest and drink excellent wine 🍷

Yelp
Nice restaurent, chic and upscale. Service was great, and the food was amazing. The beet salad and the seafood salad were delicious and fresh. The seafood soup were full of large pieces of different shell fish. It was great discovery of Chilean gastronomy.

Yelp
We came here on a Friday night and waited in line for 30 mins in the cold because it came strongly recommended. We had to wait a bit longer because we wanted to be sat inside but it was worth it. We had a bottle of the Cab Sauv wine, oysters and the beef stew for dinner. Our server was very attentive and while she barely spoke English she did her absolute best to ensure she understood all we were asking. Our food was delicious and the bill was relatively priced. FYI - they do not have wifi!

Yelp
While visiting Santiago I didn't have enough time to visit any of the nearby wineries but I did the next best thing and made a reservation at Bocanáriz. This tuned out to be the perfect way to explore Chilean wines as they offer not only a huge selection of bottles but also feature a dozen wine flights and provide service in Spanish, Portuguese, or English.  Upon serving the wines the excellent staff takes time to tell you about each wine, the region it comes from, and other facts about the wine and it's features.  Each wine in the flight is marked with a removable card you can keep.  I chose their Whites of Chile flight and their flight of Classic Reds and was pleased with all of the wines included. I particularly liked the Chardonnay and the Carmenere.   In addition to an extensive selection of wine they also offer a full menu.  I opted for the cheese tray which was huge and included three cheeses a long with a chutney, figs, and a seasoned savory nut mix.  I was also served bread.  The cheese tray afforded me a wide variety of pairings with my wine.   The restaurant itself was lovely. In my experience solo diners are sometimes relegated to the least ideal seat and appreciated that this was not the case with Bocanáriz. I was delighted that both I and another solo diner had been given tables by the window and we're both given as much attention and respect as the larger tables around us.

Yelp
Bocanáriz is a wine bar that continuously ranks among the best in the city and it unfortunately didn't live up to the hype. I had made a reservation via Google and we arrived late. They managed to seat us anyway, so that was lucky for us. The staff was welcoming, with our waitress even speaking some English. Score for me as I didn't have to translate 24/7. The waitress, too, gave us her personal Wi-Fi network and password as, of course, we had no service and couldn't access the menu. Note, too, that she eventually brought us paper menus as well. The restaurant itself was tastefully decorated. The walls, the tables, you name it and there were wine regions. Very gimmicky, but it worked for them. Ordered a glass of wine and a beer to begin with. They had quite a variety on the menu, so it took us awhile to choose. Supposedly this was an "expensive" restaurant, but I think this is where I see our privilege because I didn't find it expensive at all. I think this is expensive based on Chilean standards, not American ones. We debated between getting individual plates or plates from a fixed menu option they had. Wound up with the individual plates as the fixed menu option seemed massive and it was heavily dependent on seafood. My companion hates seafood and I just wasn't feeling it that night. We began with a charcuterie board. It had a bit of everything. Well, minus bread. We did have to ask for more of it. As for our mains, we ordered them and nearly an hour later, they still weren't around. As it turns out, our waitress forgot to put in our order. Epic fail. By the time she was going to put in the order, I canceled mine as I was more sleepy than hungry. The charcuterie board and the wine were more than enough for me and I was dying to catch some zzzs. My companion meanwhile had a pork dish. He liked his dish well enough, but for a restaurant that was supposed to be our nice night out, this just failed to deliver. It's worth a visit as it's in the foodie part of town, but I'd probably try another place if I were to return to the area. To quote Shania Twain, "that [Bocanáriz] don't impress me much."

Yelp
Spent my birthday dinner here without reservations. The staff dud the best tgey could to accommodate us. The food was so delicious, wine was good, andservice was friendly. The hotel staff were right to recommend this restaurant. If we're back jn Chile again, I'll eat here again.

Veronica P.

Yelp
Most of the food was pretty tasty, the service was pretty good, and the wines are plentiful. I tried the tasting menu and found it to be 4 out of 5 stars. The appetizers (served as 1 in 3 smaller versions) were just okay, the entrees were pretty good (pumpkin risotto, and pork), and the dessert (lava cake) was fantastic. We also ordered the tuna tartare, the charcuterie board, and the burrata. The tuna and the burrata were the hits of the table!! IG: @miamicheatdays for more recommendations

Yelp
Come here if you want to be very regular. Don't eat raw fish. I did that at other places but only had a problem here. It is my second time at this restaurant in 5 years. I had beef tongue, ceviche and something else. Today I have a mild case of stomach upset. Also considering how large their wine list for bottles is, I wish they had a better selection by the glass.

Matt S.

Yelp
Service started out great. Ended up being a one time effort. We were willing to spend $1-2,000 USA on wines alone. Got a new server. Even the best of the best wines recommended and tasting samples they offered us were bottom of the barrel. Sorry... I've traveled the world and enjoy the good stuff. This place came highly recommended from our hotel. Finally ordered food and 10-20-30 finally 40 minutes later we asked for the check and wanted to leave. Manager was willing but came running back saying the kitchen would have it out in 2 minutes. We were willing to wait but the food came and guess what... it was the wrong order. We got up and asked to leave. Manager took off our incorrect order and we paid and left. Being a wine enthusiast and major foodie this place was a joke and would not recommend. While the oysters were creamy I'd say 2-3 days old. Anyway... might be good some novice wine tasters... but, I'll pass...

Yelp
I went to Bocanáriz in 2013. I had the best meal of my life, more so because of the quality for the price.

Erica V.

Yelp
Recommend a reservation, we lucked out getting a table. Good tasting Chilean food. We had the catch of day and pork. Nice chill atmosphere and attentive staff. Prices are moderate.

Amanda C.

Yelp
This place really lives up to its hype. Fabulous dinner, we had the trout tartare as an appetiser and it is delicious. The venison main was also very good, however the vegan pavlova was a stand out for someone who doesn't have a sweet tooth! Jorge served us and helped us choose a good wine which wasn't too expensive

Yelp
Lovely vibe, delicious food and friendly staff. My husband and I weren't sure what to choose so we got the wine and food pairing - great deal at only 39000cp per person. The starters came with mushroom ceviche, bruschetta and empanada. Each came with a wine! The main dish was Mahi Mahi grilled fish for me and Malaya pork for my hubs. The pork was amazing. Flavorful and tender. Dessert was white chocolate sphere or chocolate fondant. I preferred the fondant that is just like choc lava cake. The dessert wine that paired with the white choc sphere was better though (late harvest? El amoro). Would be interested to be back again! There was also live music or performers along the outdoor seating. Very nice.

Yelp
Had a fantastic meal. We were hopeful for oysters, but told there was an issue in the South and they were sick so they were not severing. We ordered the Lisa tiradito, never had of before but maybe my favorite dish I had that week in Chile. Also did the rabbit and pork back. Both were fantastic. The pork was very rich but sense we split them. Very tasty. Great wine list and friendly service. Make reservations. Like most places it is about having a table and respect for the restaurant. They save the better tables for you. To the review BY Steve G. they did have some issues with AMEX, but they ran a second time and went though. Spoke with AMEX the next day and there are often "gateway Problems" with Chile. No idea what this means. TO his point it is always good to have backup cash.

Yelp
Great food, great service! Highly recommend this place. Their cow tongue was absolutely the best we have ever had and their cheese platter was a hit! Thank you Bocanariz! We will be back!

Yelp
Nice wine bar to sit and watch the people go by on a Saturday afternoon in a hip neighborhood.

Yelp
Great atmosphere great food. Great service! Sebastian was our waiter and he was full of knowledge. He even gave us a tour of their wine cellar. Would definitely recommend this fabulous little wine bar. All local wines!

Yelp
My second night in Santiago and Yelp led me to this fantastic restaurant! It was a Tuesday night at 7pm and we had no reservations but were seated immediately. It wasn't that busy - yet! So many choices for the selected wine flights, and then a seemingly infinite choice since they allow you to structure your own, but I decided to let the experts lead me. It was a tough choice between the Carmenere: Emblema Nacional and the Vinos Biodinamicos, but the Carmenere won out. My flight of three: 1. Casa Silva, Gran Terrior de los Andes. A nice little wine, although my least favorite of the three. 2. Cono Sur, Single Vineyard, Block 28 La Rinconada. Full-bodied with a bit of smoke. 3. Undurraga, Founder's Collection. Wonderful texture and by far my favorite. My dinner companion chose the Biodinamicos and was very happy with his selection. Our server, who is Brazilian, did a great job of going through all of the details for each wine and even adjusted the order, which worked out well for both of us. She definitely knew her stuff. Since we had already chosen flights, we decided not to get the food/wine pairings on the last page of the menu. Instead we both ordered the same dish: Congrio Confitado, which is a nice, white flaky fish fillet, pan fried, two different mushroom purées, as well as a mushroom risotto. Divine! The portion was quite substantial. I decided to try dessert, even though I was fairly full, so I ordered the Fondant Chocolate, which is a molten chocolate lava cake. Although the menu said it comes with vanilla ice cream, the server told me it would be served with pistachio instead. It was delicious, as was my decaf cappuccino. The server warned us it would take 10 minutes, but it took much longer than that to arrive. The manager delivered dessert. The total bill came out to $92 USD, including the customary 10% tip, which is not a bad deal at all considering all we ordered! Oh, and they gave us a small discount on the dessert since it took so long (not reflected here in the total). Make sure you come by here if you have a chance!

Yelp
Came here a couple years ago when I was on a trip to Chile. The wine bar is really nice ambience. The food was also really good, I got the salmon. I like that you can order wine flights and they'll also describe and label the wines for you so it's good to be able to remember that wine if you like it and want to order bottles in the future!

S. S.

Yelp
I have to say that the experience and innovative way how to present food blew me away. I will always remember the experience. Nevertheless the taste of the food was only ok. The service was fantastic and it is definitely something everyone should try once.

Yelp
Everyone has heard of Bocanáriz I think. I learned a little tip which I share at the end. But first I have to say that Bocanàriz is as good or better than reported! We sat outside and our waiter was Jesus. We couldn't scan the QR code for the menu because of the limitations of our phone and cellular in a foreign country. Jesus let us use his own personal hotspot so we can see the menu! My Spanish is intermediate at best and when someone speaks in their normal speed which sounds like lightening fast to me I get lost easily. Rather than getting frustrated and glossing over stuff, Jesus knelt down and took the time to really explain everything. The wine characteristics, the regions they came from, and why the pairings were good together. He was attentive even though the restaurant was busy. He was an absolute doll!! So sweet and earnest. As for the food and wine. Wow! It's no wonder they've won award after award since they opened. We were there just after the country announced no more masks and the tourist season back open. I'm fully expecting them to keep on winning awards. Finally, don't be discouraged if you can't make a reservation on line. I couldn't get a spot online. But our tour guide from Jacada said that they only let a select number of table be reserved online. The rest are available if you call or walk in. And she was right. We walked in during our city tour and easily made a reservation for that night. I'm summary, the food lived up to expectations. Our waiter Jesus over exceeded expectations. You can't go wrong, go to Bocanáriz!!!

Yelp
What a great little wine bar, with fantastic food, in the perfect location. I heard about this restaurant from our Travel Agency and can see why they recommend it. The location was easy to find, on a pretty street. The evening we visited was quite busy, so I am glad we had reservations, or we may not have been able to get a table. Thankfully the staff spoke English, as we don't have any Spanish speaking ability other than the standard few words everyone knows (Bano, a must know word). I ended up getting the wine and food pairing, and my gosh was it amazing. Every bite was perfectly paired with a healthy pour of a different wine. I don't think I have ever had so much wine. The tortellini was probably my favorite dish of the night, and I don't think I could pick a favorite wine, as they were all so different and perfect in their own way. Our server was very informative and told us about each wine, the falvors, where they came from, and even the history of the vines. The suprising part of the experience was the price, I think it ended up only being around $55 USD, incluing tip. I realize exchange rates have a small play in the price, but that is a really good deal, compared to the US. Anytime any one asked about what we did, and we told them about this place, they immediately knew it and said "good choice". So, I think that its a great place for everyone to try, local or tourist. I will definitely make it a point to stop in if I find myself in Santiago in the future.

Yelp
Excellent service. Food is great. Took Server recommendation. Should have come earlier. Close to Singilar hotel

Yelp
We picked this based on Yelp reviews and it's proximity to our hotel. We were not disappointed We got reservations for a Saturday at 6:30. We got there and they had no record of it, but the place was empty at such an early hour so no problem. We started with two wine flights: organic and "varieties to discover." Great explanations from waiter. And then we were off to the three-course food and wine pairing. (Option 2) Appetizers were oysters, empanada and brioche. The oysters weren't as good as the northeast Atlantic version but no tasty enough. And the wines ... wow. Delicious. Then main course of fish and anther of steak. Both good, though again fish was not really fancy US restaurant type of thing. And dessert; delicious chocolate volcano and a sorbet cheesecake sort of delicacy with a port wine. And then pisco to sample and finally espresso. The wines were the stars of the evening but the food was quite good. A 2.5 hour extravaganza. Out the door price: $100 US. (And fyi, for unknown reasons a foreign credit card threw them. Bring pesos.) Nice setting and music. By 9 pm, it was hopping!

Shaji K.

Yelp
Randomly found this spot while walking towards Bellavista. Thursday evening, this place had plenty of seating as well as a friendly staff. Waiter brought us English menus and detailed out the selections thoroughly. The wine flights are a must here; a selection of three wines based on region or type. Ordered the Altitude flight ($6.400pesos) to go along with Beef Empanadas ($5.200pesos) and a Cheese Plate ($9.900pesos). A little higher on the price end compared to other restaurants, but the quality of food/drink is worth it. Empanadas are fluffy yet toasted well on the outside; inside tender ground beef with some veggies. Five different types of cheese are included on the mixed plate, served with nuts/jams/berries. A great taste of Chile considering it's paired with the distinct wines. Wish I had more of a palette to discern between the plethora of items we were served. If you want to start off your trip with a little taste of everything, this is the place to go.

Christina C.

Yelp
Great restaurant with AMAZING wine right across the street from our hotel. A lot of reviews mentioned that you will most likely need a reservation, but we came here on our last night in Santiago just to see if there were any empty tables and luckily there was one available. I loved the vibe here.. very classy but friendly at the same time. Our server was awesome. He took the time to explain everything on the menu and also gave us some good suggestions. We ordered 2 wine flights - white wine and carmenere. All the wines are good, but there was one carmenere in particular (Concha y Toro, Carmin de Peumo) that I just could not get enough of and ended up getting an entire glass of afterwards even though it was one of their most expensive wines (about $30 for one glass). Honestly, I would give 5 stars for just the wine flights itself because I really enjoyed every single wine that I tried. For food, we ordered empanadas, short rib, and a fish. The empanadas tasted good, but since we had so many good empanadas in Argentina in the previous days, I didn't think these were that spectacular. My short rib dish was DELICIOUS... so tender and the meat fell off the bone very easily. It came over a bed of sweet potato puree and was topped with fried onion, which both complimented the short rib very well. I had a few bites of my boyfriend's fish and while the fish tasted decent, I thought the black risotto that it was served over tasted a little weird. Overall, we had a great meal here and I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the mood to try some Chilean wine.

Lianne S.

Yelp
Amazing!! We had heard that this restaurant was one of the top in Santiago and it delivered!! We had a nice table for two at the front of the restaurant. We didn't have reservations but I would recommend making them as it was quite busy. Our waiter and all the staff we encountered we're excellent. Super helpful with the menu. Excellent wine recommendations. Helpful but not intrusive. The meal was lovely. We shared the deer carpaccio and it was so delicious. The peppercorns were perfect. It was rich and flavorful. Definitely worth ordering!! I had the octopus as my main and it was also outstanding. Perfectly grilled and paired with spicy carrot puree. It was so good!! My friend had the hake and it was light and fresh with plenty of herbs. Really nice dish! We tried a wine flight and all were very nice. We did the Mountain to the Sea flight. I really enjoyed them all. We also tried a Casa Silva Carmenere. It was excellent! Love this place!

Stephanie K.

Yelp
Adorable wine bar in the heart of Lastarria, this place was highly recommended to us by our Airbnb host and had great reviews online. We were not disappointed, this was our favorite meal in Santiago. Huge Chilean wine selection and nice wine flights that let you try several varieties. Food was flavorful and delicious! Highly would recommend the pulpo, this was tender and had a nice char. Our waiter said the sauce was spicy but I would call it more zesty than actually spicy. Short rib was amazing as well, would highly recommend mend getting this. The hake(not pronounced "ha kay" as we said, lol) was decent and the herb and salad sauce was super herbaceous and refreshing. Staff and sommelier were all friendly and knowledgeable.

Jay L.

Yelp
Sebastian is the best, if he can wait on your table an extra treat! great ambiance, food and wine selection.

Emma G.

Yelp
I stopped by this place by myself for a couple glasses of wine and a meal. I was not only impressed with the language abilities of the entire staff, it seemed they all spoke at least Spanish and English at very high levels, but by the overall service. Additionally, the food was amazing, I ordered the fish of the day and it was perfectly prepared. My server described all the wines I ordered in detail, including how they were produced, and was overall very knowledgeable. I did not have a reservation and had no problem getting seated, however, I would recommend making one if you can as throughout the night some people had to be turned away. Although this was one of my first stops in Santiago, so I lack a proper comparison, the prices seemed very reasonable considering the value of food and service received. I definitely will be returning, and hopefully bringing guests to try their tasting menu another time.

Sandra A.

Yelp
A local winemaker referred us to this spot, and we were sold! It's clean and quaint and the service is attentive. All of the staff is knowledgeable about wine and food, and helpful with the menu. My friends and I shared a delicious avocado and salmon appetizer. Afterwords we shared plates of ox tails and lamb. Everything was delicious. You can order wine by the glass, bottle, or flights of three different wines. We weren't disappointed with any of our selections. Bocanáriz is a definite favourite, and worth the downtown Santiago traffic!

Flora H.

Yelp
Really close to being 5 stars for me. Call it 4.5. Bocanariz is for wine lovers and not to be missed if you are one. This is the only restaurant that I've ever found like this, and they've rightfully received accolades from Wine Enthusiast, Food & Wine, and others. They serve only Chilean wines, and have 36 different bottles that you can try by the glass. They also have two pages of pre assembled flights that you can try (3 tastes which are the equivalent of a full glass per flight), or you can assemble your own flight from any of the 36 wines they offer by the glass. On the last page on the menu is a 3 course pairing We showed up on a Saturday night without reservations, and it was still very crowded despite the rain outside. We were told it would be forty minutes which was fine, but there was oddly nowhere to wait. While there's a wine bar at the back of the restaurant, you can't actually order wine from it. We awkwardly stood around for maybe twenty minutes before we were seated at a table in a small room at the back of the restaurant. Not exactly prime seating, but I could care less as long as we were seated. I had two different flights of red - the "Signature Wines" and the "Undiscovered Wines" - both of which had good wines which I enjoyed, but nothing so great I was clamoring to get a bottle to take home. We started with one of the best salads I've probably ever had.. it had blue cheese and apples balanced perfectly with a light dressing. It came out with a bread ring on top that we crushed into the salad like a crouton, which added the perfect amount of crunch to the salad. Just perfect. For my main, I had the eel. It was unlike any eel that I've ever tasted before (Unagi, mostly) and tasted like a white fish. I was a bit caught off guard and surprised by that but enjoyed it nonetheless. It wasn't amazing, hence the 4.5 and not 5 stars, but it was very good. We definitely did get hustled a little since the server knew we were foreign - we asked for flat water and were brought the most expensive bottle of flat water that they had, "IceSwan" which is water from Patagonia which is bottled while playing classical music. I'm not joking. The water did taste better than normal though, which might all be in my head. Placebo affect of not, it did taste better. They have menus in both English and Spanish, but neither the server nor the host really spoke English. As a wine lover, I salute Bocanariz for its dedication and seriousness about wine and the pairing with food.

Kimberly E.

Yelp
Most reviews for this and many other restaurants in Chile recommend reservations. However, we stopped by right after they opened at 7 and were given a table without wait! Don't let reservations stop you. This was hands down the best meal we had in Chile. We tried the white wine flight it was well priced and delicious. I had the squash tortellini. The pasta was absolutely delicious. I rarely finish my food and was wiping the dish clean with bread because I didn't want it to end! My boyfriend tried the skirt steak. The meat was so tender he was able to cut it with a butter knife. For desert we had the cheesecake. I'll admit I was a little thrown off because it doesn't look like cheesecake at all. However it was creamy and delicious and the perfect end to our meal! To top it all off their service is incredible. At the end of our meal we were invited to check out their wine cellar. Admittedly, we knew this was going to end in a sales pitch but couldn't pass it up. We even ended up buying a bottle of wine. We f you are in chili you have to try this!

Naomi S.

Yelp
Sad to say that I was pretty disappointed with this most recommended spot in Santiago. Definitely do not order the "Signature", because only one of the three glasses, the Sav Blanc, was good. The other two glasses, wines that I wasn't familiar with but thought I'd try because I'm intrigued by the unknown, were pretty terrible. One even smelled and tasted like rat poison (only slightly exaggerating). After spending several days in Mendoza, the wine I tried here was certainly a let down. The "Ocean Expression" flight was better since two of the three wines were drinkable, but I still wouldn't recommend it. When I asked if one of my wines could be replaced because it was so terrible, the waiter said that they don't do that since it would require opening a new bottle, but that he'd need to ask the manager. Kind of hard to believe he's need to open a new bottle since they have the machines with so many wines on tap. Nevertheless, he did replace it, thankfully. The ceviche with passion fruit sorbet, unlike the wines I tried, was quite good. If you do go, make a reservation-- I was able to get one the same day.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants I have visited in Santiago. They spoke English here, and the service was extremely fast and professional. They were patient and explained things carefully to us, even though we looked out of place and unkempt from hiking and traveling. The ambiance is amazing for wine lovers! They have all their wines listed on a chalkboard, a cool collection of wine bottle openers, and a cute map of Chile with different areas for wine. They have all sorts of selections of wine that focus on Chilean wines. Their selections of flights focus on different trios of wine like classic wines, exotic wines, land to sea, etc. They have a meat plate for $16.900, and it isn't a light cheese/ham kind of plate at all! It comes with pork belly, blood sausage, some amazing regular sausage, chicken, etc. We underestimated it and ordered more. We also ordered their oysters, which was amazingly fresh yet creamy. We also got the crosscut rib stewed in red wine with sweet potato purée, and that was bites of heaven in my mouth. 10/10 could eat here for a week straight.

Yelp
This place is fantastic. The chef has come up with a tasting menu and a food menu that compliments the various "notes" of wine. Iodine, sweet, umami, smoke.....very smart. My waiter, Israel, was so knowledgeable and so excited by Chile and by the wines that not many people know about or get to taste. This is not just your Carmenere, Cabernet Sauvignon stop. They have rustic grapes, unheard of grapes from deep in their history and from sea to mountain range. It's not just tasty, it's an education. Head sommelier, Juan Pablo Salas, will allow you to tour the basement cellar and it's just a beautiful room. They have done an impeccable job running a wine bar and small plates restaurant. For my money, WELL worth the visit. Multiple visits, actually. Love you all at Bocanariz! Your fellow sommelier.

Yelp
My husband and I popped in to try their prix fixe lunch/ almuerzo special, which included shareable selections of an amuse-bouche, soup, appetizer, salad, and wine. The food was beautifully presented in just the right proportion for a light lunch. The amuse-bouche was a small bruschetta bite, followed by a velvety crab bisque soup. The green salad included lightly seared octopus and pepitas. We each chose a different wine (white & red) to accompany the meal. The pours were sufficient for the meal and left us wishing we had more time to try a few more. Bocanariz' location in Lastarria is just off the beaten path enough to feel quiet and inviting. Service was friendly, but not overbearing. I look forward to returning for a full dinner upon my next visit to Santiago.

Yelp
Had a wonderful dinner experience here and would highly recommend this place to anyone that visits Santiago! Would love to come here again if I'm ever back in town! Our group ordered wine flights and several appetizers to share. The local fish ceviche was amazingly fresh and flavorful that pops with bright complex flavors. We also ordered the quinoa bowl to share and that was delicious as well. Skip on the patas bravas appetizer as we all thought it was okay and nothing memorable. I ordered the shrimp served with plantains, blackrice, in a rich cream broth that was to die for! The service was excellent with throrough explanations of each wine flight and our entrees (all in English). Towards the end, we were invited to tour their quaint little wine cellar. The ambiance is exellent and decor spot on.

Yelp
The best meal we had in Santiago (so far) was here. The service, great. The food, excellent with a lot of flavor. And the wine, a great place to get an introduction to Chilean wine. This is the first five star meal we have had in Santiago. I'd highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
I will definitely recommend this to friends, family and coworkers traveling through Santiago. The wine selection is fantastic! The wine flights? What a good idea!! Everything we had was delightful! The ceviche? Thumbs up!

Yelp
Had a really nice wine tasting it two flights of Chiléan wine along with a delicious slow cooked steak. The service was absolutely exceptional and the waiters were hilarious. They were very knowledgeable about the origins and types of wine and gave us a full rundown on the regions where the wine was from. They also made us laugh and gave stellar recommendations of what to try. The cheesecake that Israel (our server) strongly recommended was to die for!

Yelp
The best meal I had in Chile! After a rather traumatic incident with a horrible restaurant down the street, we sought solace at Bocanariz. Despite a packed dining room, our party of 4 was immediately seated. The menu is cleverly arranged with taste styles, and the restaurant is well-known for its wine flights, a perfect introduction to the wines of Chile. We ordered everything. Flights, meat and cheese plates, dessert. Even our vegetarian friend was pleased. They even brought out a cake with a candle to celebrate our friend's birthday. Aside from the food, the dining area is small and lively. Tables of trendy wine lovers set nearby, but not crowding each other. There are also separate rooms around corners and I believe downstairs, which means the seating space is larger than what you see when walking through the door. Good service with room for improvement, but definitely better than most places we encountered in the country. Highly recommended!

Yelp
A must-visit if you love wine and are in Santiago! We ordered multiple flights, which is the way to go because they have such a vast selection and this is the best way to sample the most wines. They do a great job explaining each wine in the flight and what makes them unique. Their food was also amazing--definitely try their ribs!

Yelp
This is a delightful place Frequented by locals. Fantastic food included venison salmon duck dish etc. the wine pairing were outstanding and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. The bottle at the end after our tasting was recommended by the sommelier and was one of the best Cabernet francs I have ever drunk. We will be back at the end of our Chilean visit for sure.

Yelp
This place was delicious! It's a cute little tapas/wine bar. We got the food and wine pairing and the crab cocktail and trout. Everything was delicious. It's a bit pricey though.

Yelp
a fantastic place to catch dinner if you're looking for a huge wine selection and want to try a variety of food items. get their wine/champagne flights! there are so many tapas options on the menu, you really can't go wrong. standouts from our dinner selection included the ceviche, broccoli & quinoa salad, lamb and stewed ribs. we were sharing amongst 4 people, and we ordered something like 8-9 dishes total. AND we each got a wine flight. and then we got ANOTHER bottle of wine to share. i knew the restaurant was legit when they actually poured our wine out into a large decanter to aerate. total damage came out to around $55 usd (~36,000 chilean pesos) per person, which is a total steal by stateside standards. the space is rather large with multiple rooms as you move towards the back of the restaurant, but i would still recommend reservations as the place was packed the entire time we were having dinner. love the hip vibe of the place. service is phenomenal and food presentation / plating was on point. would totally come here again if i ever happen to find myself in santiago in the future.

Yelp
Great wine bar! We came here for the lunch without reservations. We got there very early, so we were seated without a problem. I do recommend making a reservation if you go during rush hour. The sommelier did a great job introducing the different Chilean wines. The food was excellent -- inventive renditions of traditional flavors and ingredients. Get the smoked trout stuffed with Serrano ham and manchego cheese.

Yelp
We came here for lunch after a late breakfast at Wonderland Cafe, so we weren't as hungry as I'd have liked.; however it was a lovely place! We had a few of the wine tastings starting with the sparkling, next was the biodynamic flights and lastly the high altitude flight of mountain vineyards. We loved the wines from Emiliana and ordered full glasses of that from them second flight. We shared empanadas, definitely recommend. Although from all this food photos, it doesn't seem like you can go wrong with any selection. If you are looking to spend some serious cash, I would go for the bottle of Errazuriz "Chadwick" wine (only by the bottle for ~$250)....this is the only one in Chile to get 100 pts from Robert Parker fwiw!

Yelp
We kept coming back here during our vacation. Wonderful food and large wine menu. We stayed a half block away and given the protests/riots, wanted to stay close. We were just fortunate enough to be surrounded by a fantastic selection of cafes and restaurants!

Yelp
I've reserved a table at this place months in advance and sure enough when we arrived they sat us at the best table by the window. I knew wine flights were going to be amazing, but I was not expecting the food the be top notch. For main course, I had the hake dish and it was prepared perfectly. Desert was probably the most fancy looking piece of art I've ever seen, with tons of details and the tasting menu with food and wine was round $45 per person. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I have now been here twice and both times were very pleasurable experiences! The restaurant looks small upon entry but there are actually hidden rooms and an outdoor terrace at the back behind the bar. Waitstaff are all very kind and attentive, and they speak English which is a plus if you are still struggling with your Spanish. Menus are available in both languages and are well translated. First off, they do "wine flights" meaning you can sample 3 small (3 oz) glasses of wine if you can't decide on one. This was quite fun and it wasn't overly pricey, flights started in the 4,000 CLP range. The food menu is comprised of some tapas size items and some entree sized items. We had 2 tapas and 3 entrees between 3 people and it was plenty of food. I really recommend the short ribs, the serving was huge and it was absolutely delicious. I had the Wagu beef dish too which is another popular choice, it was tasty but the portion size wasn't big, so if you are hungry, eat the ribs. For dessert I have tried the decontructed cheesecake which is also very delicious and unique. The prices aren't terrible either, you can likely dine for 25,000-30,000 per person including a couple classes of wine. I thought it was quite reasonable.
