I went to get a sandwich from this place, which is super popular with the locals. I placed my order through DoorDash, and the pickup time was 40 minutes, but when I arrived a little early at 30 minutes, my order was just ready, which was perfect. I also picked up a few truffle products they had inside the store. The outdoor patio was bustling with people eating their food or waiting for their orders. The cheese here is amazing, so next time, I definitely want to try their pizza.

If you’re craving an authentic Italian sandwich or pizza made with in-house crafted cheese, Bocconcino Hawaii is an absolute must-visit. I tried the Bolognese Sandwich with pistachio cream—flavorful, rich, and truly unique. The Salsiccia Porcini Pizza was another standout, perfectly balanced with earthy mushrooms and savory sausage. The quality of ingredients and attention to detail really shine here. It’s rare to find Italian food this good in Hawaii. Highly recommend for anyone looking for something beyond the ordinary!

Google
Great little Italian store. Their Bolognese sandwich is a MUST GET. If you like coffee, try their Cremino Caffe 🤤 It's ice cold and refreshing, a great sweet treat! They also have fresh Italian meats and cheeses. It's always busy in there so I recommend ordering online for pick up ahead of time (at least half an hour). The owners and staff are always friendly making it a great atmosphere. I always try to stop by here when I drive into town.

Delicious Roman style sandwiches and pizza. Tucked away on an off street but as soon as as you enter are met with all sorts of traditional Italian meats, wines, balsamic vinegars, Italian sodas and drinks, and Italian espresso.

Got lucky with a parking spot right in front on a Thursday at 5pm. The sandwiches were delicious, the shop had really interesting snacks and drinks and ingredients, and the cashier was so nice. We asked for her recommendations on the sandwiches and she took the time to find out what we liked and help us choose. She also recommended some drinks for us and some candies, even going to ask someone else what flavor one of the candies was so we could know. This was our 4th time driving past over a few months, trying to get a chance at parking, so we’re so happy everything was so delicious and the staff were so nice once we finally got in. If you can score a spot at a non-peak time, definitely go here!

I am not sure why there are so many rude comments - I understand the wait time can be long. I personally loved the atmosphere and the work staff. All of them had excellent customer service. I have family in Italy and being at this local deli made me feel like I was back there. The food is spectacular and definitely worth the wait. I promise you! My husband and I now come back every Saturday so we can pick out some fresh bread and a couple of things I’ve missed from being over there. It’s brought my home dishes the spark they were missing. So please don’t be discouraged to try it :)

Flew over from Maui to try this place. The staff was extremely friendly even though they were really busy. They took the time to talk with us and share their favorites on the menu. The selection of Italian products is unbelievable. We bought so many great items and a bottle of wine. We had 2 pizza and 2 sandwiches for the 5 of us. Plenty of food to go around and the flavors were incredible! I would eat/shop here regularly if we lived on Oahu!

Google
Excellent Italian sandwich/pizza shop. Staff is always warm and inviting. The food is always top notch. Hard to beat the combo of fresh mozzarella and homemade bread. They have a wide variety of Italian treat. Highlights are a varied wine selection, pistachio spread, and a wide variety of pasta. They have espresso, beer, bottled cocktails, and Italian soda to drink on premises. Most items are $20~ dollars but are large, easily shared by two people. This makes it about $10 a person which is a steal on the island. A true gem and a unique spot for Honolulu!

Yelp
I had never even heard of Bocconcino until my good soul of a barber mentioned and then fervently recommended it while I was getting my hair cut several weeks ago. He raved about the Bolognese sandwich he purchased there, stating that it was probably one of the best sandwiches he had ever had in his life. He also stated that at $22 it was a bit pricey but then emphatically added that it was "well worth it!" Cut to the sandwich: I used the Toast app to place a takeout order for me and My Beloved. I ordered the Bolognese (pistachio crema, mortadella, stracciatella, pistachio crumble) and Beloved ordered the Toscano (artichoke crema, finocchiona salami, whipped pecorino, marinated roasted eggplant). Using the Toast app to order and pay for my Bocconcino order was easy and efficient. The app told me my order would be ready at a certain time and texted me a few minutes ahead of the 'READY BY' time and I was on my way to pick up! As I approached Bocconcino I saw a line of cars stopped in front of the eatery and a baseball-capped blonde woman moving about who seemed to be refereeing the parking. I assumed she was working for Bocconcino the way she eyed me and my vehicle as I pulled into the lot next to Bocconcino and parked, nose out, for a fast getaway. I wasn't even fully out of my vehicle yet when she asked "Are you here for Hano Hou Brewery (or something like that...)?" which is located right next to Bocconcino. I smiled warmly at her and said, "That's TONIGHT--right now I'm just picking up an order from Bocconcino--I'll be out of here in less than 5 minutes!" I chirped my vehicle and strode past her before she could say anything. Walked into Bocconcino, retrieved my order and was pulling out of the parking lot in less than 5 minutes. I smiled and waved at the blonde baseball cap girl. She neither smiled nor waved back. I didn't go to Hana Hou Brewery either. Bocconcino is a great Italian eatery and grocer. My Beloved and I loved our sandwiches and they were every bit as good as my barber claimed they were. I did, however, pour a fingerful of extra virgin olive oil into a small bowl to dip my Bolognese into as I ate it. *Chef's kiss* Hopefully the place will thrive despite its not-so-great location and less-than-accommodating neighbor eatery.

Yelp
The sandwiches are next level -- stacked high, packed with flavor, and made with ingredients so fresh you can taste the difference in every bite. The bread alone is perfection: light, crispy on the outside, soft inside, and baked to order. And the pizza? Wow. Watching them make it right in front of you is half the fun, but the first bite seals the deal. Perfectly blistered crust, generous toppings, and that balance of cheesy, saucy goodness that makes you want to order another one immediately. Donato and his team here are super friendly, and you can tell they really care about what they're serving. It's rare to find a place where everything feels so thoughtfully prepared yet laid-back and fun. If you're in Hawaii and craving seriously good sandwiches or pizza, Bocconcino is a must. I'm already planning my next visit!

Yelp
I've had this spot on my list for quite some time, and I can't believe I waited so long to finally try it. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt inviting and relaxed. The service stood out right away--the cashier was warm, welcoming, and even offered a few recommendations once I mentioned it was my first visit. I went with the bolognese sandwich, and it was everything I hoped for. Generously sized, it was easily shareable--my boyfriend and I split it, and half was more than enough to leave us satisfied. The bread struck the perfect balance: soft and airy inside with a light crisp on the crust. The mortadella brought just the right touch of savory saltiness, while the stracciatella added a creamy richness that tied it all together. And because no sandwich feels complete without a little crunch, I couldn't resist a bag of truffle chips on the side. Beyond the sandwiches, this is also a great place to pick up provisions--wine, pasta, sauces, and other ingredients that make it easy to bring a taste of Italy home. I'll definitely be returning, not only to explore more of the sandwich menu but also to stock up on ingredients for a proper pasta night at home.

Yelp
Where have I been?? One of the doctors told me about this place after my trip back from Italy. It was supposed to be like All'Antico. I stood in line Florence for a delish prosciutto layered. Wait here is long. I had the salsiccia and porcini sandwich. It was yummy! Place is more of a grab and go. They have seats in the back for outdoor vibes.

Yelp
The bolognese sandwich was my favorite, and the rest was not so good. I ordered 2 pizzas and 2 sandwiches. The bolognese sandwich was creamy with cheese served with bread that was a bit hard for me. The Toscano sandwich had no cheese in it which made it even more hard and dry. The Salsiccia pizza was better than the prosciutto pizzas because the sausage bite were chopped and easier to eat, but other pizza with large pieces of prosciutto and arugula salad leafs were uncut and when you take a bite, large chuck get difficult to eat. I can see how it is easier for the person to make it by just throwing large uncut pieces of meat and salads on the pizza, but difficult for the customer to actually eat. However, both pizzas are hard and dry, so I will not come back for these expensive and hard to eat food. Inside the store is nice, clean and full of food and merchandise to buy, but no parking spot sucks, especially in this narrow two way street. Too much hassle for at most, mediocre, super expensive food. I will not come here again.

Yelp
If you don't already know about this place, you'll probably never stumble upon it - it's tucked away and kind of hidden. We started with the wine tasting, then ordered pizzas, purchased a bottle of wine and water (they'll open it for you and provide cups). After that, we stepped out of the store, and headed to the garage-style space where a chef, pizza oven, tables, and chairs are set up. A few minutes later, our pizzas arrived. I had the prosciutto and arugula with just a touch of lemon zest. It was excellent! The little hint of citrus was surprisingly refreshing and really made the pizza stand out. Overall, I really enjoyed both the food and the experience. A quick note: wine tasting and pizza service start at 5:30pm, but the store itself opens earlier, and you can also grab sandwiches there.

Yelp
Every sandwich is a hit here. Every time. They're not cheap, but they're definitely made with high quality ingredients. That being said, don't plan to pick up food here if you're in a rush. It's a small shop with many orders and they painstakingly assemble every flatbread and sandwich with love. I've waited 45 min for 4 sandwiches before...Which are massive and should feed 6 people in my opinion. While you wait, there's plenty of time to peruse the yummy Italian made ingredients in the shop and smell the wonderful smells. I will come back again and again--and continue to bring friends who love food because I always want to try more than one wich when we're there!!

Yelp
Located in Ward area, parking is the only downside but this place is so worth it! Been here a few times, the service is always amazing. Workers give great recommendations. Got the Pistachio mortadella pizza and Carbonara Di Roma. both were so flavorful. fresh ingredients and the most crunchy thin crust! Seating is kind of limited. There is a little store where you can buy authentic italian products, as well as drinks and dessert! Will always come here for the food. Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10

Yelp
Decided to grab lunch at bococino today, instead of ordering from the main menu i decided to get the special of the day "panino de girono". If you are into cooking Italian cuisine make sure to stop inside because they also have plenty of different ingredients for you to buy ranging from olive oil to burrata. The servers were very nice and everything looked very clean too! The panino I ordered was amazing! The panino del giorno is filled with Carpaccio, artichoke and a nice creamy ball of burrata and spinata i believe. You can taste how fresh all of the ingredients are from the bread down to the carpaccio. The size of my panini is pretty big too so it's definitely worth the price tag. Bococino also sells plenty of Italian ingredients and a huge selection of wine, so if you're like me who enjoys making home made pizza's a paninis stop on in and get your fixings. The staff is also very helpful and takes great pride in what they make so if you have any questions about the menu be sure to ask. Also from how clean the area is you can tell they really love their store! Please stop on by this great place and order yourself a panini or a pizza, I promise you will be wanting to go back every week for lunch. Just make sure to get here early before the lunch rush because you will be stuck trying to find parking. Until next time!

Yelp
FINALLY getting in here and man o man! I've been to Hawaii a half a dozen times since originally pinning this to try and I'm finally getting to it and I'm left speechless with a chef's kiss and a hankering for MORE. Also- we had a sample of truffle Parmesan creme... can you even be double speechless!?!! I love that it's a small Italian grocery store, they offer order out, and there's an eating nook on the side. Stop in here for the bestttt!

Yelp
First timers ... I wasn't sure about the parking as there are Tow Away and No Parking signs across the front of the [yellow] building so I parked at Whole Foods and walked over. While waiting, we learned that apparently it's cool to park there anyway We got there just before opening but were first in line. Once inside we were greeted warmly by Aleesia (I'm guessing as that was the name on my receipt) and she was friendly and helpful We ordered 3 sandwiches to share: Calabrese : tropea onion jam, nduja (SPICY sausage spread), pecorino crotonese and arugula Bolognese : pistachio crema, mortadella, stracciatella, pistachio crumble Siciliano : sausage, eggplant, peperonata, caramelized onions, caciocavallo $22 each is pretty steep for a sandwich ... but that bread? Nothing like it anywhere I've been so I'd say it's a nice treat Covered seating outside with a sink to wash up

Yelp
Dinner in Kaka'ako, Honolulu, Hawaii... Closed on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays, I had to time my visit so I could try the food. Bocconcino Hawaii stays open "late" on Saturdays for the pizza oven. Patrons can even buy something from the deli side - like a bottle of wine - and enjoy it with their pizza. Process: Pay inside the shop, then give your receipt to the pizza maker outside. They will deliver your pie to your table. Note: Get cups of iced water from the cashier and bring them with you outside. There's no indoor dining. I like to dine in because outdoor dining with no air-conditioning is a challenge for me. There was a fan blowing in one direction, but i couldn't feel anything. It was also noisy from the fan. I just wanted to leave after we finished. We ordered the Pistacchio e Mortadella (cured sausage) pizza. It had a Pesto base with extra virgin olive oil and Stracciatella (soft cheese). The chewy crust had a smokey flavor from the real pizza oven! Cut into four slices, it was delicious! Parking: We were there right before closing, so we parked in front of the shop. We asked if it was ok because there was a "tow away zone" sign. The pizza guys said we'd be alright... and we were!

Yelp
Came here on a Thursday around 130pm on a whim my friend remembered this place as we were wanting a nice panini sandwich! Other place we tried last minute said they had a big order that came in so they couldn't make. Luckily there was parking right in front of the building (orange colored and next to the brewing business parking lot. It also has outdoor covered seating area which is nice if you want to eat there. As you walk in you are greeted with a friendly hello and feels like you transported to Italy lol! Cute small shop with wines, pasta, meats, cheeses and condiments to try all from Italy. Cashier's were friendly and helpful, they answered our questions as first timers and gave us recommendations. We actually talked to the owners daughter, Bella and she was really nice. You can see them making the sandwichs and slicing the meats. We got the romano which was Bella's favorite and I forgot what the other one was called but it was the most popular on the menu and had a pistachio spread. So simple but full of flavor! I would get both of these again and again and of course try all the others. The ratio of bread to meats and just the flavors were Soo good! Not many good Italian places this is must go to! $20+ a sanwhich but well worth it and the portion is good, I can only eat half - three fourths and I'm super full! We also tried some desserts I didn't really pay attention to the names lol but it's the triangle sliced lemon one and chocolate one. Soo yummy! The chocolate was so deep and I couldn't figure out if for sure I was tasting maybe coffee too! Had a nice balanced bitterness but deep chocolate flavor so yum! I like the lemon one too it had like a lemon custard filling inside crust and was nice flavor, not too sweet. Oh they also sell gluten free cookies! Def getting my sandwich fix from here!

Yelp
Simply amazing. Out of Hawaii experience and hello Italy!! We haven't even been to Italy and it was truly an amazing dining experience! Lovely wines and mouth wateringly delicious, freshly wood fired Italian pizzas. Literally drooling just thinking about it! Casual ambiance outdoors on shared tables to enjoy the pizzas. Can't wait to try every single one of their pizzas!

Yelp
Seriously the nicest staff ever! I make the trek from Mililani once every few weeks to "run errands", but in reality it's just an excuse to order sandwiches from Bocconcino. I simply cannot live without their Bolognese sandwiches. Every pizza/flatbread I've tried is also very tasty, but my favorites are when they offer a special with truffles. (Pro tip: place your order ahead of time via Toast, otherwise you'll be waiting about an hour for your order.) I love browsing their inventory of wines, pastas, and sauces. The staff is so friendly and helpful! I always ask for wine pairing recommendations with all my pick up orders and they never steer me wrong! Not to mention, they have a ton of affordable wine options. Parking is quite difficult in the area unfortunately, which is another reason order ahead of time so you can quickly get in and get out. Overall, highly recommended to stop by for a sandwich and/or pizza. The food is phenomenal and the staff are really top notch!

Yelp
I will start this review by saying this is solely for their food. I wasn't able to peruse and step inside Bocconcino unfortunately because there wasn't any parking, so a friend of mine hopped out of the car to grab our order while I circled around. It was so packed, the outdoor dining area seemed quite full. Happy to see they are doing very well! I was able to preorder the food online on their website and was ready at the requested time. My friend and I decided to share two different things that way we can try different stuff. We opted for the Salsiccia & Porcini Pinza and the Bolognese Panini. Both were great! I really enjoyed the pistacio and the stracciatella in the sandwich. I've never had something like this before and it is not common to come across an authentic Italian deli in the middle of the Pacific Ocean! The Salsiccia & Porcini Pinza was soo yummy and a great size too! Both the panini and pinza are definitely shareable unless you're back big as hell (not judging tho). Would definitely come back and would love to go at a time where it isn't so busy. Everything looks great and would love to try something new!

YT D.

Yelp
Highly recommend! The food was absolutely delicious, and there were plenty of items for sale inside too. The highlight was definitely the prosciutto, freshly sliced right in front of you. so good! All the staff were super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better.

Yelp
Had takeout from here during a recent family dinner trip while visiting Oahu. The bolognese is DELICIOUS and you can tell so much love and care is put into these sandwiches. Everything tasted fresh and as other reviews have stated, these sandwiches are huge. I only ate 1/4 of it and was super full. My sibling who picked up the food said that parking was available (even though the lot is small and spots are limited) at 5:30 PM on a Saturday afternoon.

Yelp
This little hole in the wall is a gem. Parking can be tricky. But it's worth the hassle. Parking is right in front of the entrance. The staff was so accommodating and sweet. Bella the daughter of the owner was very helpful and informative. She's definitely an asset to the business. The sandwhich I got was a home run. So simple and elegant yet tasteful and flavorful. It's a perfect combo of bread, mortadella meat, burrata cheese and pistachio spread. The pistachio isn't overwhelming, but brings a perfect balance to the sandwich. This place is definitely with a visit. It's fun to shop around while waiting for the food.

Yelp
I will admit that I'm not crazy about Italian food.. I just never really crave it.. That was until I decided to give Bocconcino a try and wow I was blown away at how well their sandwiches are prepared. I have tried their number 1 seller the Bolognese Sandwich and that buggah is huge and damn delicious. I also tried a special upon recommendation from the worker and that was also delicious although I do not recall the name LOL. Their fridge also has sooo much delicious desserts. I tried their tiramisu and pistachio cake omfg. To die for. I saw a lot of people coming in just grabbing these desserts and going about their day. This place has become one of my new all-time fave places - and this is someone who is not the biggest fan of Italian food yet will come here for their food. The workers are also really nice and recommend you good food options if you are new. The interior is big but no sit-down area. The outdoor open-air seating is next door to the left of their storefront.

Yelp
The place is small, but hopping. It's on the pricier side, but the ortolana pizza was loaded with what appeared as fresh ingredients. It's a nice concept for the island, but I found myself disappointed as flavors were lacking. The crust was good, but having visited Italy and some amazing authentic Italian eateries in Boston, SF, San Diego, etc this place was quite disappointing. I also think there are so many other and better Italian restaurants on the island. Their system is also off putting. Not clear as to where to wait for order. The girls at the coffee area are polite and courteous. The dudes at the food area are a different story. Not only did they not make a great pizza they also lack personality and customer service skills. Hand washing station in the outdoor seating area, but no napkins. No complimentary water and expected 18, 20, 22% tip for counter ordering and having to pick up food. They got the cliché look down of what's believed to be an Italian deli down, wish they had the flavors down. Just one foodie's opinion and experience.

Yelp
Great Italian food and market! There are maybe 2-3 parking stalls in front of the shop, so it's best to park elsewhere and walk. The service is pretty fast and the staff are very kind and friendly! I've gone here a few times and I love their sandwiches! I highly recommend the Toscano! I usually order that one, but I thought I should try something new so I got their Siciliano with sausage, eggplant, peperonata, caramelized onions, and caciocavallo. It tasted exactly like a supreme pizza. I enjoyed it, but I would rather order the Toscano. I also got their Focaccia. It had olives, tomatoes and other Italian herbs on it. It was a pretty big piece, not bad for $6. I enjoyed the toppings, but I wish it was warm. It was borderline cold. Overall, definitely give their sandwiches a try! They're not cheap, but they're big and the ingredients taste fresh!

Yelp
Hadn't been here in awhile and when I came for some mortadella they had tomato focaccia. In their prep counter they had a pile of them and it reminded me of a fresco from Pompeii or Herculaneum. I can't remember where the fresco was. Regardless it was delicious.....especially with the pistachio mortadella.
google avatar

Yelp
Good food. Terrible service. Ordered a sandwich at 3:39 online. Was told it would be ready at 4:08. I arrive at that time. They said it's almost ready. There is 1 other customer in there and 7 workers. Twenty minutes go by and the other customer, who ordered her food when I got there, got her food. I asked the cashier how much longer it would be. She went to check. Lo and behold, it was sitting on the counter the entire time. No apologies, they handed me the food. Do better.
google avatar

Emely M.

Yelp
It was the prefect grab and go to eat at the beach. This is a family ran establishment and it shows the dedication and love they have for their customers and the food they serve. The deli items also looked delicious. I'll have to make my way back to Oahu to try more items. Their enduja was just the right amount of spicy but I'll be trying it with some mortadella next time !

Yelp
If you love Italian food -- real Italian food -- RUN, don't walk, to this place. I don't even know where to begin because everything here is unreal. Their ingredients are straight-up perfection, and it shows in every bite. The star of the show? Their Mortadella Sandwich with Pistachio -- hands down the BEST sandwich I've ever had in my life. The bread is fresh and perfectly crisp on the outside but soft inside, and the mortadella is buttery, rich, and melts in your mouth. The pistachio adds this creamy, nutty flavor that takes the whole thing to another level. I could eat this every day and never get tired of it. It's THAT good. But it doesn't stop there -- they have fresh burrata, imported cheeses, and other products that just elevate everything. Their cheese selection is insane -- creamy, flavorful, and so fresh you can taste the quality. You can literally build your own little Italian feast with their ingredients, and every item feels like it came straight from Italy. You can tell they care about authentic products and high standards. You feel it in the food, the atmosphere, and even the way they present everything. It's rare to find a place that nails both the vibe and the flavor this perfectly. If you're craving real Italian sandwiches, fresh cheeses, amazing options for wine and that unbeatable quality -- this is your spot. Absolutely obsessed. Highly recommend, 10/10, will be back ASAP!

Yelp
How did I not know about this hidden gem!? Went to discover and experience Bocconcino per a colleague's recommendation and I was happy I went. They have five parking spaces immediately outside but it's typically full. They make your food made to order so allow extra time. You can order online and specify a pick-up time if you are pressed for time. Legit Italian cuisine. All their offerings reminded me of being in Italy. Besides sandwiches and pizzas, the store has all sorts of gourmet goodies and treats. From pastas, cheeses, cured meats, sauces, and wines. There is a dining area adjacent outside. I got the Siciliano sandwich - Italian sausage with eggplant and caramelized onions. It was huge and I ate it for two meals. Their cannoli was so yummy. I was full already but couldn't stop eating. Can't wait to try something else. I hear their pizzas are amazing.

Yelp
Came here after a rave review about this place form a colleague. I must say, I was not disappointed. The sandwiches were massive and I had one half for lunch and the other half for dinner! That definitely makes it worth the price in my opinion. I ordered online and it was ready 45min after I placed the online order. There were a lot of workers and the place was crowded at 11:45 for the lunch rush. There's a nice seating area outside that you can eat at. Limited parking stalls in front. May have to get dropped off to pick up your order. Overall, while the price is a bit high, I think it is worth it for the quality and price of the food!

Yelp
Great paninis, though some are more interesting than others. Of the four we tried: * Bolognese was the best. Thinly sliced mortadella wasn't too salty and the stracciatella was so creamy and delicious. Definitely a must order next time. * Panini del Giorno had mushrooms, truffle oil, and ham. This one was a little greasy and while some of us liked how truffle forward it was, others thought it was too much. We couldn't finish it but it reheated well in the oven the next day. * Calabrese - the spicy nduja overpowered the other flavors. * Siliciano - good for those who love a sausage outside a stadium. Tastes very similar to one of those. Personally I'd skip it here because the others were more interesting. Everything is made to order so expect to wait a little. It's worth it though! The store is small but there is nice seating next door.

Yelp
Is it worth it? Located right next to Hana Koa Brewing is a 2 parking stall shop. They have a bunch of imported pasta, olive oils, balsamic vinegars, wines, etc... There's a covered seating area (garage) on the side. A better set up would be turn the shop into a shop/ eating area, like EATaly. The spaces felt disjointed. Ambiance was kinda lacking to be honest. But look around...it's an industrial area with beat up roads and no parking. The bread was fresh and crunchy. The bread was huge compared to the rest of the sandwich. The deli meats were fine, but more would be nice. They freshly sliced it. The mozzarella was freshly made. I tired 3 sandwiches and a definition in one word: subtle. The flavors are subtle and clean if that makes sense. I'm not an expert nor have I eaten in Italy, so who am I to judge? Maybe the nuances are lost on me. 3.5 out of 5. I heard a gentlemen walking in say to his buddy that this was the best pizza on the island. The pizza was underwhelming. The dough was good, but the positives stop there. The toppings were light and so was the sauce. If thats traditional Roman style, well that's a pity. The size was smaller than I expected for the price. The pizza was more like an appetizer. Pizza rating is a 2 out of 5. Both meals were just a ton of bread. Felt full, but not satisfied. Strip away what is traditional, authentic, and the hype and let's focus on the value, flavors, and the overall experience here. Will you circle the block to find street parking to get a light tasting sandwich and pizza for +$40 and sit in a hot garage to eat it? It's a no for me dawg.

Yelp
Passed by this place on a walk and had to come in! Custest sandwich shop with lots of great italian goods to buy as well. What really sold me is that they make their burrata in house and I LOVE burrata. I ordered the bolognese ($20) and watched them put it together and they add a good amount of meat and cheese. There is also still a lot of bread. It's a pretty simple flavor profile, although I do wish the pistachio flavor came through a bit more. Overall, great hole in the wall spot for grab and go (took like 15 minutes on a weekday). The only other thing I wish they would let me do is customize / sub out cheese or meat because I had really wanted prosciutto with burrata which they did not have. Next time I'll have to try the pizza!

Yelp
Outstanding value and quantity. Food was all amazing and fresh. It definitely lived up to the hype. Location: it's a restaurant/store with outdoor sitting. You order at the cashier and then they call you when your order is ready. Parking: street parking was a bit tough. Service: amazing! The owners were just lovely and welcoming. Their daughter was so helpful even during the busy rush. Drinks: they have a nice selection of wines and beers. I loved that they had a variety of German beers available. But I'm looking forward to try their coffee next time. So if you're gonna come here be ready for a crowd because it's just that good

Yelp
Okay the sandwiches here are so delicious using meats and cheeses that are not in your typical sandwich shop. I've tried multiple sandwiches and there wasn't one that I didn't enjoy. Portion is huge, which usually gives me a second meal or snack for later. They have an outdoor covered space for you to eat, but it does get pretty hot at the wrong time of day. Parking is also very difficult. I drove around for minutes before deciding that parking at Whole Foods is your best bet. Expect a long wait and to wait outside for your order. Tip is to order ahead of time online so that it's ready for pickup when you arrive.

Yelp
I just happen to walk in from a day getting some great sandwiches and pasta. Boy I stumbled in at right time. They were experimenting with a new dish. A bread bowl with pasta and the bread bowl is handmade here in the facility and the pasta was so flavorful Leo the baker gave me some cuz he was giving me the other employees some you saw that I showed curiosity what a nice guy what a friendly Place highly recommend this place feels like family

Yelp
This gem is located down the road from my gym (F45), which makes it really convenient for me to get here. Heads up that there is extremely limited parking in front of the restaurant, so expect to circle around or park at Whole Foods and walk over. Please do not park in the parking lots of F45 or Hana Koa. There are dining tables in a covered (but open air) area adjacent to the restaurant, but I take my orders to go. You can phone ahead or preorder on their website! I recommend ordering ahead if you know what you want, because everything is made to order--expect to wait at least 15-20 minutes when it's not super busy. Longer if it's busy. My go to order is the Bolognese sandwich + tiramisu. I am not a sandwich person. Period. I will just about never order a sandwich from a restaurant when given a choice of what to order. If I do get a burger, I don't eat the buns (yes, patty and vegetables only). But the Bolognese sandwich here is the best damn sandwich I've ever eaten. I don't even like deli meat, but the combo of the mortadella and the straccietella cheese with pistachio crème and fresh Focaccia bread (I think it's Focaccia) are incredible. The sandwiches are expensive ($22), but they are massive. I usually only eat half then save the other half for another meal. They keep really well in the fridge even 2 days later (just let it sit out at room temp for like an hour or two before you eat). Tiramisu is on the smaller side, but packed with flavor and heavy on the espresso! The inside of the restaurant is actually a little deli store with fancy artesian cooking gifts and wine. 10/10 even with the crappy parking.

Yelp
Hidden in the heart of Hawai'i, Bocconcino Hawai'i is a little slice of Italy! This Italian hole-in-the-wall is all about quality, authenticity, and passion. They make fresh mozzarella and burrata in-house, and every sandwich is crafted to order with meats sliced fresh while your sandwich is being made. Every ingredient is either made in-house or imported straight from Italy, ensuring an authentic Italian experience in every bite. Here's what we tried today: House Special Panini: Loaded with their creamy house burrata, mortadella, eggplant spread, and a pistachio sauce that tied everything together perfectly. Pure indulgence! Pugliese: A flavor-packed ciabatta sandwich with capocollo, tuna in olive oil, capers, giardiniera, and mild provolone. Bold, fresh, and so satisfying. On top of their amazing menu, they also have a small market where you can shop for specialty Italian items like wines, sauces, olive oils, pasta, and more. Want to DIY? You can get their meats sliced fresh for your own sandwiches or charcuterie boards. The owners are incredibly friendly and love sharing their knowledge about the meats and cheeses they offer. If you're a fan of Italian cuisine or just good food, Bocconcino Hawai'i is a must-visit.

Yelp
Went for the burrata cheese. At first, there were none in the fridge but right when I got to the cashier to ask, he brought more out!!! I wasn't hungry at the time so next time I will order food. There were a lot of people in line ordering and waiting for orders so gotta go early and have time to wait. Parking there was bad so my driver stayed in the car as I got out to get the items. Will I go again, yes to try their food. The burrata cheese is cheaper than markets but just as good. Inside was clean and giving me Napa Valley vibes. Can see the kitchen working. Awesome store with lots of great items!!

Yelp
Tried lunch on a weekday and decided to order via the Toast app. There was a wait time of an hour, so I was able to run some errands and handle some business nearby which I really appreciated being able to do rather than wait in line while my mouth watered waiting for a delicious sandwich. I got to the shop and just in time to find a space right in front of the restaurant SCORE! parked and walked in. I patiently waited while the gentleman at the counter chatted in Italian with one of the customers who was picking up his order. It took a few minutes and then I was able to say that I placed an order on Toast and he nodded and handed my my sandwich. I had tried looking for a name on the sandwiches but I couldn't see one, so I had to wait for assistance. Got my delicious sandwich and made my way back home. On my way home, the Toast app sent me a text telling me my sandwich was ready for pick up. I had to chuckle, since that sandwich was safely in my car ready for consumption. I do think that pre-order will be my preferred way to obtain food from Bocconcino in the future. The food is still fresh, and I wont get myself frustrated or hangry waiting. it's a win-win.

Yelp
I am going to be honest here. I may have hyped up this sandwich in my head because it was seen all over social media as the best sandwich. Maybe it would be if I didn't have to pay for it like those on social media? Got the bolognese sandwich and it was good, but a little bland. There was not as much stracciatella as I thought there would be, the bread was really hard. Not crispy and then soft on the inside as I expected. While the quality of ingredients was great, I just wish there was more of it. Especially for the price at $22 a sandwich it's expensive. The Toscano had more flavor but also wish there was a little more ingredients for the price paid. The sandwiches were overall good, just unsure I would go back based on what you get for the price. Parking is hideous, only a few stalls so we had to circle around and wait for someone to leave. And note you cannot wait in the shop with ac, you have to wait at the outside seating, with the tables that are not wiped down. $44 + tip for two sandwiches.

Yelp
This place, I found on Instagram and I knew I needed to go there the very next day to check them out. It's authentic Italian food. They make sandwiches and pizza. And then they have a store which has Italian goods, premade food, they make homemade focaccia bread, mozzarella cheese, fresh desserts, wine, and liquor. I went around lunchtime, It was packed. There was a line around the inside of the store. And as I waited to order my food, I got even busy. So that only means one thing, that the food is good. If you don't mind waiting, it's worth the wait. I tried their vegetarian sandwich and the special of the day. I left with tiramisu, or orange type of dessert , a bottle of Italian wine and truffle salt, all of that cost me about $90. They have a patio with a couple of long tables, that can accommodate large groups. And some high round tables. There is no parking. I parked illegally like everyone else, in front of the store. And some people were parking next-door, at the brewery parking lot. When taking my order, the lady asked for my phone number and said she would call me, I waited for about 45 minutes and Figured she forgot to call me. My food was ready. So it could've taken less than that time, just stay close by. I did tried to order before but no one answered the phone.. I had originally went all the way down to this Italian deli to try their their cannolis, but the last one was taken by a lady in line. I wanted to challenge her, to a dance off, but There wasn't enough room for my winning Dance moves. so I left the lady alone, and just looked at the yummy dessert from a distance. I will go when the store opens next time to ensure that I get my cannoli the next time I go.

Yelp
We finally got to experience Italy sandwiches and pizza. We ordered a few sandwiches and their pizza of the day. I feel so bad for not knowing the names of the sandwiches but I have a picture attached to this review. My fav sandwich was the one with the sausages. I love how flavorful it is without the strong spice taste. The pepperoni pizza was so ono. The crust was crunchy, cheese and pepperoni was top tier quality. My two other sandwiches were okay. I assume the lady at the cashier was the owner because she said she made those sausages. Anyways, she is so nice and kind. She's so patience, took her time to explain the menu to me since it was my first time. I definitely will come back for the pizza and wanna try her homemade dessert next time.

Yelp
Decided to try this place out after it popped up on my FYP! Definitely worth the drive from the westside! I ordered and LOVED the Bolognese! It was so yummy! I couldn't choose so I asked the staff for the most popular and this choice definitely didn't disappoint!! The ingredients are definitely fresh and quality ingredients. Parking is limited to about 4-5 spots in front of the business, depending on how the cars are parked.

Yelp
Italy in Hawaii but needs to be in the Bay area! You'd think we'd have something like this but we had to come to Oahu to experience this. Burrata is my favorite and the straciatella on this Bolognese sandwich is perfection! The entire sandwich is perfection! From my the pistachio crema, to the mortadella, to the crunch of the bread! Flavors and textures all married together in each bite. The pizza and flatbread were good too, but honestly all you need is the Bolognese! The meats are sliced to order and the quality of all their ingredients are top tier and it shows! The shop itself is a marketplace of Italian goods from pannetone, to truffle everything, to pastas, and seasonings. Peruse the market while you wait for your order. I love that they are a family owned business too. Their daughters were working hard behind the order counter as was owner/Dad. The wait times can be long so pack your patience bc not only will it be worth it, but everyone in there is hustling to get orders out and with a smile. We wanted to order some for the day we were flying home to eat on the plane, but they are closed that day! I WISH it were possible for them to ship to the mainland!

Yelp
So I was really excited to try this spot with my wife because I've seen so many good snippets of it in social media, friends have raved about it, and I wanted to see if it could live up to our experience in Italy. Honestly it was kind of mid. The fresh mozzarella was good and the deli meats definitely tasted fresh but for what we paid vs what we got, very lack luster. On top of that it wasn't that busy but our cold sandwiches took forever. We thought it was taking too long because they were pressing it or baking it in the oven but no. Took 20mins plus to make it. Cashier and people were friendly enough but not worth really coming back. $23 (Bolognese) and $21 (Caprese) for some mid cold sandwiches is crazy and I know we're not paying for the sandwich, we're paying for the labor and love it took to make those ingredients (I work in the industry) , but they didn't even try. I tipped 18% to go get my own sandwich from their waiting area, which didn't even have complimentary water. The store setup was cool because it reminds you of Italy but otherwise it was okay.

Yelp
Ok, IMO this is worth the hype. I've been wanting to try Bocconcino Hawaii since they opened. I love mozzarella. But they have so much more than just cheese! This place is crazy busy on a weekday for lunch, though! There's about 4-5 parking stalls in front of the bright yellow building on Kawaihao St, but if they're already full, good luck! There was a long line snaking through the shop and it's a pretty decent wait for your food too - everything is made/cut/baked to order. HOWEVER -- that bread! The cheese! The crunch! Everything about my sandwich was so good! I ordered the Bolognese - mortadella, pistachios, and cheese - so creamy, so crunchy, so ʻono! My friend ordered the Calabrese sandwich and it was really tasty too - sweet, slightly spicy sausage and arugala. I also had the daily granita - which was a lemonade. It was tasty and clear, so free of anything other than probably lemon juice, sugar, and ice. There was also a coffee flavored granita available. IMO not worth $6, but it was refreshing and I left my drink in the car, so I needed something. While we waited for our 2 sandwiches (about 25-30 minutes), all of the tiramisus disappeared - so apparently, we should've grabbed one of those? The storefront/kitchen is on the right side, through the double glass doors. There's an open air seating area on the left that's covered, but doesn't have much air flow. Several tables and chairs, but they were all busy. Thankfully while we waited for our lunch, they opened up. I'd order ahead if you're in a rush, but otherwise, super tasty and fresh! I just wish they were open more than 4x a week. Next time, maybe we'll try a pizza!

Yelp
It was my first time trying their pinsa and panini and they were both delicious. I thought pinsa would be small sized like a panini, but it was actually a shareable size for two people. Bolognese was a recommended item and it was delicious, but it was a little too much cheese for me. (Definitely recommend to cheese lovers). All the ingredients seem fresh and high quality too. I suggest ordering ahead online for pickup, as the place gets really crowded during lunch time.

Yelp
Driving by and seeing the line...we still decided to go ahead and check out the hype. An hour later, we finally had our sandwiches. If you're hangry, I'd avoid the wait. People were burning up while waiting for their food and dehydration was a thing. Siciliano - the sausage was juicy and the flavors were nice. I did get tired of eating it after a bit because the flavor seemed similar all throughout. Bolognese - my favorite solely because the cheese! I do wish the pistachio flavor was more pronounced but it overall was such a delicious sandwich Cannoli - yes yes YESSS! I'd get this again. Such delicious filling and the shell had a good crunch. I'm glad I tried this place but I don't think I'll be coming back if the wait is this long.

Yelp
Just AMAZING!! If you take away anything from my review it is this: 1) if you are in a rush and don't have time to wait, order ahead. 2) the bolognese sandwich is the BEST thing on the menu. Now for my review. We wanted to try book Concolino for a while and finally had a free moment during our weekend to stop by this place. The parking is not good, but we were able to snag a front row stall. The inside of the shop was packed and they're outside seating a few spots open. We ordered the Bolognese sandwich, they're special sandwich, which I'm eating into a vegetarian style, and a margarita pizza with no basil for the kids. The food is made so that all the items in the order come out at the same time. So if you're looking to get something quicker, make sure to let them know. The kids enjoyed the pizza which was nice and soft and flavorful but personally, I could've done with more cheese. My vegetarian sandwich was a little bit lacking and it was because I wanted a sandwich without meat, but I also wanted something different from a caprese sandwich. Which partially I think next time I will make sure to look at their menu more thoroughly to see if there is something else I can eat. But the main star of the whole visit was the Bolognese sandwich. Which my husband gave me a little bite of without any meat and it was so delicious so soft so flavorful. Service: since our first Bolognese sandwich was so delicious we decided to order one to go. At the same time, I decided to get a couple of their desserts (pear ricotta cake, lemon cake, and pistachio cake). I asked them if I could hold it in the fridge while we waited for the sandwich to be made and I'm so glad I did. Because that second time during the lunch rush, the sandwich took 40 minutes. Everyone working there was lovely and helpful. Even the guy making the sandwiches. Thank you Donato for bringing a little taste of Italy to our island!

Yelp
*To the tune of the old Klondike bar jingle* What would you do for a panini with fresh mozzarella? I would and I have: - Visited solo on a whim. - Drive from Ewa Beach. - Driven around the block for parking no less than 3x. - Wait 30 minutes for your panini to be ready after circling around the block multiple times, parking offsite, walking to the shop, and ordering. My trusty foodie friend and fellow Yelp Elite Shay Y.'s Yelp review, though very useful, still didn't adequately prepare me mentally to go through all those hurdles for a taste of their Bolognese Panini. Yet this sandwich was WORTH THE WAIT. Seeing Bocconcino is like seeing an oasis after walking from your parked car and ensuring cars on Queen or Kawaiahao don't run you over lol. The lady who took my order was nice! The shop, which also sells wines, cheese, and Italian desserts and snacks, is busy and with good reason! I must have been a bit frazzled from parking my car and walking to the shop that I forgot to check their mini fridge to find out tiramisu slices were still available! But yes, you WILL wait 30 minutes for your panini to be ready from cutting and combining the ingredients, to baking. The lady who assisted me took my phone number to call when my order was ready. I spent most of those 30 minutes across the street at Waba Snacks to order the Korean version of the Japanese taiyaki. I forgot to turn off my setting that sends unknown phone numbers straight to voicemail, so the lady left me a kind voicemail message that my order was ready! In-person orders are picked up on the same side, not at the pick up counter, which is probably for pre-orders. I took my order to the outdoor dining area on the left-hand side of the shop. I ordered the Bolognese as it was highly rated by so many. I took a bite, and I couldn't believe how fresh the mozzarella was. I've never tasted mozzarella this fresh and soft in my life! The bread was perfectly baked and flavors were fresh. The mortadella was thinly sliced and balanced the other flavors and textures well. The pistachio crema still had a nice crunch from the nuts, so you know what you're eating. It almost made me want to live in a farm for easy access to milk for fresh mozzarella and grains for their fresh bread haha! I would highly recommend taking the bus, Biki, or Uber/Lyft to Bocconcino. I didn't check where the closest bike racks were. Also, call in your orders to save the 30 minute wait time! Safe to say every other eatery in Kaka'ako pales in comparison, and I've hung around the area for the last five years!
