I have been wanting to try this place for a long time. Last night I decided to try something basic for takeout - a lasagna Bolognese. I thought $31 for a lasagna was on the high side, but it must be something special. Boy was I wrong. Very disappointed in the dish. It was both dry and mushy. I was expecting a lot more from the reviews, but at this point I am not in any hurry to go back.

Came here for the first time and had an incredible experience. My bf and I were scheduled to take a cooking class up the road but it was cancelled last minute. We stumbled upon this place in our search for a last minute dinner and were seated right away. We went in not realizing it was byo, and the owner went in the back and brought us out a complimentary bottle! Service was excellent and the dishes were brought out timely. We even got a complimentary appetizer that was to die for. Everything we ordered was top notch. Will highly recommend this place, and will definitely be back!

We have been coming here regularly and we are always impressed by the consistently fantastic meals and top notch service. Every meal we’ve had here is delicious. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly, attentive, and make you feel like family. Whether it’s a catered meal or a casual dinner, they never disappointment! Highly recommend if you are looking for a great dining experience with a warm, inviting atmosphere, wonderful service and delicious dishes. Can’t wait for our next visit! Also to add…the owner has supported so many in the Doylestown community with donated meals (including hospital staff and teachers) time and time again. His passion for people is evident in all that he does and we will happily support a business who cares so much about those around him!

Mixed. Might try again. Complementary mini bruschetta: my partner described it as very flavorful, which was not my impression at all. Tomatoes were typical supermarket quality. Bread was not fresh, but it was toasted, so not bad. Other tables were given a basket of rolls; we were not. Complementary appetizer: Very nice rolled crepes with ricotta. Fig and pancetta appetizer: Excellent; my favorite dish there. Creative and very tasty. Served over arugula. Chicken cacciatore: quite good. Served over spaghetti (which was a bit overcooked). The sauce was flavorful, the peppers fresh and flavorful, and the mushrooms were delightful – sliced very thin. Spaghetti carbonara: below average; did not finish. It was creamy and oily without being flavorful. I think it suffered from too little cheese and too much cream, and the wrong cheese – parmesan rather than pecorino Romano. Not near enough black pepper. Random fresh basil leaves were cooked into the sauce for some reason. Pancetta was not crispy. It may have just been added to the sauce rather than sauteed separately first. Pasta was slightly overcooked. Other tables were offered complimentary limoncello; we were not. Maybe there is some formula for who is offered this and who is not. We received the crepe appetizer, so no complaint. Rich chocolate cake for dessert. Good typical restaurant quality, not likely made on-site. Service was fine. This is a small, narrow restaurant, so perhaps not good for large parties. They take reservations only by phone, and you will probably not be able to reach them before 3 PM. The place was nearly full when we visited. You may not be able to find on-street parking close to the restaurant. Pay with cash and get 6% off your bill.

Google
Tonight my daughter had a mock trial school event at the courthouse, and afterward we stopped for dinner at Bocelli’s. Each course of the meal was delicious, and the tight restaurant felt unpretentious and welcoming. The service was even better than the food. The staff were friendly, efficient, and really pleasant. We will be back!

Google
Go early because the place is small and fills up quick but we found out why. Food was terrific. Started with the lightly breaded calamari, then got the Tagliatelle ai frutti di Mare and wow was it good. Light and flavorful marinara sauce, clams, mussels, scallops and shrimp. Perfect. We also had the chicken Marsala which was very good.

Google
Come for the specials, stay for the hospitality. This is my favorite BYOB in Doylestown to go with a group of friends. The waitresses and owner treat you like family. The menu is great, but the specials are even better. I love that the owner wants everyone to stay and have a good time. It feels like being in Italy. And the limoncello shots are so yummy! Love love love this place!

Upscale Italian dishes in the heart of Doylestown. The coat is a bit pricey but the food is delicious.

Yelp
Terrific restaurant and experience. Started with complimentary bruschetta that was excellent. Enjoyed a ceasar salad. Next, they served a complimentary whipped ricotta wrapped in pasta that was delectable. Entrees were seafood over linguine with their house marinara that was right on point and a bronzino in a tasty, light sauce. Only criticism is with the potatoes served with bronzino--suggestion is substitute pasta. Service was terrific. They will customize your order according to your preference and they care about their customers.

Yelp
The restaurant is divided into 2 parts. A dining room in the front and then tables all along the wall going to the rear. As to art work or decorations along any of the walls, we didn't see any. If added, it would make the place have a warmer feel. Our young servers were very friendly as well as informed and added to the overall fun experience. But on to the food. House provided Bruschetta along with small Ricotta Crepes started our meal. Both were very good. We shared a Burrata Salad with Avocado and Shrimp and it was delicious There were 3 of us and we all enjoyed our entrees, with the Crab and Shrimp Ravioli "winning", although the other 2 people in our group would argue with me - but I'm writing this so ... The Penne with homemade sausage, sautéed mushrooms in a light cream sauce was very good. This can also be said of the Farfalle Asparagus with Shrimp, slivered Asparagus in a pink vodka sauce. Street parking ; BYO. Fairly large menu. A place to try.

Yelp
Disappointing and Unwelcoming to Families We've dined at Bocelli's in Doylestown many times over the years, but our most recent visit left us shocked and saddened--and certain that we won't be returning. When I called to make a reservation for five, I was asked whether we'd have children with us. I answered yes, not thinking much of it. But upon arrival, it became clear that this answer determined how we were treated. Despite numerous nicer tables being open, we were taken straight to the worst table in the restaurant. When we asked to move, we were told no--until the owner finally came over. After I insisted, he allowed the move, but not before turning to my daughter and saying, "We don't like to seat children at those tables because other customers might complain." The message was clear: children, no matter how well-behaved, are unwelcome. The rest of the evening continued in the same spirit--we were rushed through dinner in less than an hour. The food was fine, and the server did her best, but the overall atmosphere was cold and inhospitable. The owner, who was warm and friendly to other tables, barely acknowledged us. Our children were polite, quiet, and better behaved than many of the adults around us. But that didn't seem to matter. This experience was deeply disappointing. We'll no longer support a restaurant that makes families feel like a burden. If you're dining with children--of any age--I'd recommend going anywhere else.

Yelp
My wife and I went here to celebrate her birthday on a Tuesday evening. First the bad, we ordered a Caprice Salad. The tomatoes were not good at all as evidenced because they were a pale red instead of a bright red hue. Additionally the mozzarella was the small ball type. It was not a satisfying salad. The entree was great. I had the Chicken Di Casa which is pictured. The chicken's flavor was good and enhanced by the sauce. The sauce was very flavorful. They brought us free crepes stuffed with Romana Cheese. My wife said they were very good. However I did not try them because I am on a low carb diet. The service was great. The server explained the specials. There were quite a few of these and the server had them all memorized. She was attentive but did not hover. She was great. It is a BYOB which I like but cannot review the wine because it is from my collection. The bottom line is this is a fine Italian restaurant but I would not try another salad there. We would go back for the other offerings.

Yelp
Parent's of young children beware- I was visiting my parents in Bucks County with my 2 sons (8 and 4 years old) and my 82 year old father specifically wanted to go to Bocelli's for his birthday dinner. My mother made a reservation and when we arrived to a nearly empty restaurant at 6pm on a Thursday we were shown to a 4 top booth with a chair stuck on the end in the busy hallway of the room. My father politely asked for one of the empty tables at the front of the restaurant and the servers said "no" repeatedly with no real explanation. My mother became frustrated and pushed the issue and we were eventually shown to a table in the front. I attempted to apologize to the owner for the fuss and he said "we don't like to sit children in the front because other costumers complain". He heard me relaying the response to my parents and rushed over to defend himself saying "I never said kids aren't allowed to eat here". The young servers were very sweet and we place no blame upon them but the service was incredibly quick and it was clear they were just trying to get us out of there as fast as possible. We were really tense for the whole dinner because we were worried that my 4 year old would be disruptive (he wasn't), and we got out of there as quickly as possible. My poor father stayed back to pay the bill and apparently the owner apologized and gave him a $30 gift certificate but he will not return. This is not a fancy restaurant. The food is ok, although as Italian New Yorkers we have had much much better. My parents have a large social circle in Bucks County and unfortunately they will be dissuading their friends from ever attending Bocelli's again. Especially with their grandchildren.

Yelp
First time diner tonight. Fabulous meal (the salmon special). Several "on the house" tastings. Terrific service. I will return!!

James F.

Yelp
We had a truly wonderful meal at Bocelli's! I had the sausage and mushroom penne and my mother had the lobster ravioli (special). Katie was our server and she was awesome! My goodness she does it all! It was a Monday which I guess is a slower night but Katie Sat people, took orders, delivered food, cleaned tables, dried glasses and set tables - a real one woman show! The food was some of the best Italian I have had by far!

Yelp
If you're looking for an awesome place to eat in the Doylestown, PA, look no further than here! With 3 complementary offerings, phenomenal service, and amazing dishes prepared to order, we all left full and feeling like "one of the family". Thank you so much for your incredible service and food.

Yelp
A large group of us from out of town visited here on New Year's Eve. We had reservations that were honored on time. The restaurant was located only a short walk from the Inn that we stayed at and we were told in advance that it was a BYOB and that if we paid cash, we would save 10 percent. The restaurant is quaint and cozy. Before we even ordered we were provided a complimentary basket of warm rolls and a plate of bruschetta. The warm rolls were perfect for the dipping oil and the bruschetta was very tasty and fresh. We began our meals with the Cesar salad, the avocado and beet salad special, and fried calamari. The salads were nice but the calamari was bland. We needed to add salt and pepper to add taste. Our entrees consisted of the spaghetti alla puttanesca, spaghetti bolognese, farfalle with asparagus and shrimp in a vodka sauce, three bronzini fish specials, and the filet mignon special. My wife said the puttanesca was bland and I made a much better one at home. The bolognese had plenty of chopped ground meat but only ok in terms of taste. The farfalle dish was swimming in vodka sauce which was much to much. The filet mignon was a hit as was the bronzini fish specials. However, they only brought out one fish special and we had to wait 8 or 9 minutes for the other two to arrive. They must have forgotten but were very apologetic. The service was good and friendly. The prices were on the higher end for the pasta selections. There is ample street parking and public lots in the area.

Yelp
Bocelli's is fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone in Doylestown. The staff and owner are so friendly and conversational, and the food is always delicious. I've tried almost all specials and items on the menu and have never been disappointed. Plus, you get some freebies like bruschetta, bread, crepes, and limoncello!

Yelp
On a Sunday evening in October 2 friends and myself met at Bocelli's for dinner. The service was amazing from the start as my friends were late, yet they never rushed us. The menu looked good but the specials were even better. All three of us had an avocado salad special and then 2 of us had salmon with homemade gnocchi and 1 had lobster tail with homemade pasta. There were complimentary samplings and friendly but not overpowering service. We had an amazing dinner and a lovely time. I highly recommend.

Carl V.

Yelp
Great Italian food at a fare price. It is also a BYO which helps with the cost. Extremely friendly service. A member of our party had a food allergy. The server went to the restaurant next-door and got him rice to go along with his meal. It is one of my favorite choices to go in Doylestown.

KC M.

Yelp
Delicious! We have been wanting to try this highly recommended restaurant. It did not disappoint. Random kid free Thursday night we grabbed a bottle of wine and went. Fig ap, Lobster Rav, Veal Marsala closed w/tiramisu and complementary limoncello. Friendly family vibe service. Will 100% be back. May be our new favorite spot.

Patrick S.

Yelp
We go here once a month and always have a really good meal. We will be back Great service!
google avatar

Eric O.

Yelp
We had a college graduation party here for my daughter in May of 2023 with about a dozen friends and family members. I could not be happier. The food was great and we still talk about how good everything was . . . apps, dinners, and desserts. However, the service and friendliness of the servers made the day even more memorable. I would have expected it to cost much more as well . . . we were very happy when we got the bill!
google avatar

Sue S.

Yelp
Had dinner with a friend during the week. The restaurant is very small, yet comfortable. I did like the white tablecloths, it elevated the dining experience. The prices are very high for the type of place that it is. Our food was good, but a small portion left me looking for something else. Not sure if I would go back because there are so many really great restaurants in this price range with outstanding service and delicious food.

Alain Z.

Yelp
Updating my review because every single meal since we first went there upon their opening has been fantastic (as has the service)l They truly care about their customers and always go above and beyondk whether it's dine-in, takeout, or catering.

Yelp
I think it'e interesting how you can almost always judge how good an italian place is going to be based on the quality of its bread. The bread here is hot, flavorful, and crispy and was brought out super quickly in abundance. The meal itself was spectacular. The service was always attentive and our waitress remembered the 5 specials off the top of her head in great detail. The place itself is quite cute and romantic. I got the chicken parm with vodka sauce and it was one of the best i've had. Super crispy and very subtle sauce. My date got the seafood pasta and it was overflowing with goodness. At the end they brought us free limoncello which was a great night cap. Will definitely be back, love this place!

Rich H.

Yelp
Small restaurant we had no reservations, but they seated us anyway. The lobster ravioli was fantastic, you gotta love it when they are hand made. This place takes the time to do it right. They also offered some free appetizers. Definitely a stop and eat place.

Nancy B.

Yelp
Service was excellent. Dinner was good. We are in a drought and they are breaking all the mandatory restrictions that restaurants are supposed to adhere to.....water was served immediately. We did not request it. Then an additional pitcher of water was put on the table and it wasn't requested. Reporting them to the borough for breaking the mandatory restrictions.

Mike S.

Yelp
We've been to this restaurant multiple times and had a good experiences. However, Saturday night the service and food was subpar. Had to ask the server for the specials, soda was served with no ice and they never came over to check on our food or to refresh our empty water glasses. Food was also disappointing with one entrée apparently sitting prior to being served. Limoncello shots were not offered prior to being handed the check.
google avatar

John D.

Yelp
Service was very good, attentive, and friendly. Once inside the restaurant is cozy and charming. I had a good, not superior veal chop. It would not deter me from ordering it again. Bruschetta was delicious, the fried calamari was good although the portion was scant. A third appetizer ricotta wrapped with a ribbon of pasta was a little bland. I'll try it again and want to see what you think about it.

Diane G.

Yelp
It was our first time at this restaurant. Staff were very friendly and service was great. Both my husband's dinner and mine were really good but what I loved about this restaurant was the complimentary little things they gave us. Makes you feel very special and welcomed.

Renee B.

Yelp
Took a friend here for her birthday on a Sunday night after seeing a movie. Although we didn't have reservations, we were able to get seated right away. Salads were good. Service was good. Food was just okay, not much flavor. A little pricey. There is a fee for using a credit card, which was added to the check even before they knew how I was going to pay. Won't rush back as there are other less expensive Italian restaurants in the area.

Stephen S.

Yelp
The food is always good and the wait staff are smart and attentive. Always look forward to a meal at Bocelli's

Yelp
If I could give this ALL the stars I would. So. So. So. Amazing. Dinner for four turned into a culinary delight! One the staff is amazing. Two, the manager/owner, *chef kiss* could not have been a kinder more authentic human. Can we admit it's been a Roxy year and this team made us feel pure joy dining in their restaurant. The appetizers? Devine! The clams casino we're slightly spicy and loaded with amazing flavor. The entrees and specials? We literally could not decide! Eventually we did and we not disappointed. This is a very special place and a rare gem tucked carefully in the of Doylestown. Grab you favorite bottle of wine and they will do the rest. Prego!!! Will go back again and again.
google avatar

Christina Finley F.

Yelp
The coal fired pizza was very good, crust thin but chewy, for being in a strip mall the atmosphere was nice. We went early so it was mostly empty, but the service was great- very friendly and attentive waitress! Will go back

Mallory P.

Yelp
Staff was so friendly and attentive and the food was amazing! The atmosphere was fantastic. They started us off with complimentary bruschetta, then we ordered the Caesar salad, chicken francaise, and the spaghetti bolognese. Each dish was better than the last- everything was delicious. We ended the meal perfectly with complimentary limoncello, made in-house. Would highly recommend!

Norma K.

Yelp
I really don't understand why this restaurant gets good reviews. Had dinner here with my husband. He ordered veal parmigiana. It was literally as tough as shoe leather. The server offered to bring him another serving that was made fresh. Really??? So obviously the first dish was sitting around and recooked. It was awful. The replacement dish was better but not wonderful. I ordered spaghetti Puttanesca. The sauce was bland, no flavor at all, with some olives and capers. It tasted like they opened a can of tomatoes, threw in some olives and capers, then served it. So far from what Puttanesca sauce should be. The salads were average at best. Dressing was not made in house. We will not return. There are so many other excellent restaurants in the area. Don't waste your money.

Caroline A.

Yelp
Ordered carbonara and the sauce was definitely Alfredo. No pepper, no egg, and a thick white sauce. When asked, staff said they make it similar.. disappointing dish.
google avatar

David R.

Yelp
Meh Reading these reviews I have a feeling people living in doylestown may not have traveled very far. This is a typical red sauce Italian joint. That's a good thing if done well. Yes they are very nice and a free app is nice and all. But the food is barely "ok". I'm willing to come back and try again because the reviews on Yelp and other sites is so over the top. Portions are fine - if I get spaghetti side dish then I'd expect it to be pretty healthy portion for something that costs them 50 cents to make. I got angel hair instead and make a few forks full. Red sauce was "eh". I'm used to much better sauce at my local pizza place then this. Paid 20+ for chicken parm - all the local pizza joints I know in the area do it much better. Maybe it's an off night...
google avatar

Billy V.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic dinner! The food was incredible- my wife and I each got chicken parm and you're allowed to sub different sauces. We got vodka sauce which I highly recommend! Not only was the food great, but the service was even better. We received complimentary cheese crepes, bruschetta and after dinner limoncello shots. They also offer a 10% discount if you pay in cash. This was our first time there but we will definitely be back!

Yelp
Wow! What a nice find in the heart of my favorite town. While there are quite a few byob Italian places that they do compete with here I must say it is definitely worth coming here to enjoy a great meal! Ok why not the 5 stars it's mainly because of two things ... sadly they can be easily missed as they are somewhat hidden. By that I mean the store front isn't jumping right out at you. Secondly, there's limited seating but it is nice get than their other location so be sure to make resies! Great observation is as soon as you walk into this place you can smell the deliciousness! That should be your first indicator that an awesome meal will be forthcoming. We started off w/the calamari and that was spot on. Lightly battered, not greasy and oh so tender! No chewiness to be had here! Onto the entrees we opted for the lobster and scallops capellini special and the filet special. Both were delish! If you don't believe me see for yourself. Oh and did I mention that it's a byob?! Perfect!

Yelp
I had a harrowing meal experience here. First thing to note: this restaurant is skimpy with its portions. We ordered a "salad" which was literally just slivers of avocado and a small handful of arugula. There was so much white space showing on the plate, it looked like a work of abstract art rather than something to eat. (And no, this is not one of those swanky places that gives you a dollop of artistically-presented food...I understand that type of restaurant...) Then, for the main course. I'm even appalled writing this, but my chicken dish included IMITATION CRAB MEAT aka the kind you find in California rolls at cheap sushi places. It was neatly placed right on top of my chicken breast as if it were a succulent delicacy to be savored and enjoyed. Plus, the portions were yet again small and the potatoes were cold. The food, imitation crab meat included, also had zero flavor. The "fresh mozzarella" was very yellow and oily...clearly it was Polly-O or some other cheap supermarket-grade cheese. $90 for a meal that included imitation crab meat? No thanks. The wait staff were lovely on the other hand, and the ambiance was nice.

Yelp
How do I put into words how good this restaurant is??? Omg !! Phenomenal!! I love Italian food and this is really Italian! Not American Italian ! They start you off with a nice loaf of warm fresh bread ! Then comes a free bruschetta app! So good ! Fresh made ! After comes a sample of a vodka sauce filled crepe! No words ! Omg ! Now onto dinner , yes, dinner, I just love everything ! My favorite is to be gnocchi with the meat sauce ! They will make you what you ask for , they will substitute! This restaurant is all about service , service , service ! If I could give them a 10 star rating I would ! Don't forget about dessert ! I always order the tiramisu but I here the chocolate mousse cake is to die for! At the end of your amazing meal you are given a nice shot of Lemonceillo ! Wow! What an experience!

Mary D.

Yelp
We had a wedding rehearsal event there in November 2023 and we're very pleased with the friendly, professional service, exceptional food, and lovely ambiance. Thank you to all at Bocelli's
google avatar

Amy E.

Yelp
Attentive service. Great food. Everyone was extremely friendly. The Limoncello at the end was good too. Very fresh and authentic Italian cuisine. Will certainly be back to try other dishes. Needed a new Italian joint! Happy to have stumbled across this place!!

Yelp
We rarely dine out for Italian food but Mom was visiting and that was her request for dinner. I took to Yelp searching and then fiancé remembers a great meal at Bocelli's he had in the past. Phoning in for a reservation was easy. Restaurant is BYO so bring your favorite bevi! Our server was wonderful, I feel bad I didn't grab her name. An upbeat extra friendly personality followed by efficient knowledgeable service! She listed off their nights specials so effortlessly. Mom went with a Lobster and Scallop Ravioli special that was smothered in a delicious pink vodka sauce. Fiancé had the Pollo de Casa which was a chicken breast topped with spinach, melted mozzarella and topped with lump crab meat all smothered in a lemony garlic sauce. His was served with some type of scalloped potato and a beautiful medley of vegetable. I indulged in every last nite of the Bow tie pasta with Asparagus in the heavenly pink vodka cream sauce. I substituted the shrimp for chicken easy peasy. This dish was perfection. What I loved the most was that the asparagus and chicken were diced on the smaller side so it was so easy to get a bite of pasta, asparagus and chicken in every bite. We were too full for dessert but they had quite the ordering. We will be back here for sure as my pasta dish is something I will dream about.

Michelle R.

Yelp
Food was good and atmosphere was nice. Wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. They seemed to really know how to food was prepared and what was in it.

Peter S.

Yelp
Excellent Italian food, great service and ambiance, complimentary lemon cello. Definitely will return.

Adriana D.

Yelp
First time we had eaten out in a long time due to Covid. The owners were so nice. They gave us complementary homemade bruschetta, a crab and ricotta roll and bread for the table. The food was really great, authentic italian food. They had a ton of specials for the night. My dad enjoyed the veal. Raviolis were delicious. They also offered complimentary limoncello. Would definitely go there again.

Yelp
Always 5 stars The management is top shelf, and the food is the best Italian in doylestown
google avatar

Debbie C.

Yelp
Best food! Fantastic owner! BYOB Come hungry because you will savor every bite! Start with bruschetta toast and the most amazing cheese crepes. Save some room for dessert!

Mike A.

Yelp
The food was excellent - melt in your mouth and the service was very good. The bruschetta was delicious, and the complementary crepe melted in your mouth. Our meals were just about perfect and portions just right. The desert was wonderful. We'll be back.

Kay R.

Yelp
Probably our most favorite Doylestown restaurant. In addition to terrific menu and service, Rafa, the owner, really gives back to the community. BYOB
google avatar

Yelp
Boccelli's has the best Italian in the borough. I've enjoyed each time that I've visited; from the food, to the service, to the ambiance. What finally prompted me to leave a good review is a surprise I got from my mom today, saying that Boccelli's sent lunch for the entire staff at Kutz Elementary. This is incredibly generous, and appreciated. What a great example to our community. Doylestown, support this small business, if not for the kind owners, for the incredible food.

Virgil H.

Yelp
Fine dining, what it should be, at Bocelli's. Excellent quality and deliciously prepared gourmet food. Substitutions and add ons are never a problem. I enjoy this restaurant often. Always an excellent dinner and great friendly servers and host. A very well balanced menu, but daily specials are the way to go.

Debra M.

Yelp
Amazing dinner! Complimentary app, fresh, homemade dinner finished off with complimentary limoncello and the BEST crème brûlée we have ever had! The staff was so attentive and service was impeccable! Highly recommend.

Yelp
If I could give less than 1 star I would. Called for reservations as I had 3 other Priests for a party of 4. These (pardon my Italian Barbari's) took the reservation for 6:00 PM then told me we needed to finish by 8:00 PM as they needed our table for someone else. If you want an Italian Restaurant with excellent Service and Great Food Try Bacco Bistro 479 North Main Street Doylestown PA 18901
