"Whether you need a giant, juicy rotisserie chicken for dinner or a sandwich and snacks for a hike, Boda’s Kitchen delivers the goods. As Hood River’s go-to gourmet delicatessen with daily meal and soup specials, locals regularly stop by for everything from specialty deli goods like meat and cheese to pantry items like olive oil, obscure hot sauces, and fun snacks. Owners Sirota and Matt Johnston try to source Columbia River Gorge products whenever possible, but it’s also a great place to discover new foods from other states or countries." - Zoe Baillargeon, Molly Allen

SerpAPI
Phenomenal local place for lunch/dinner foods or snacks and treats. The quality and recipes used in their meals and dishes makes it feel like homemade, but sometimes better. The memories it inspires of meals with loved ones at home or the new moments it creates by adding unique flare to the special occasion are all worthy reasons to rate this as one of the best in The Hood.

Fantastic lunch on a hot summer day. Beet salad + northwest salad together are great. Tomato and peach salad is good, too. And grab some fried chicken! Seasonal lemonade (peach lemonade) hit the spot. Nice folks and good service.

Ordered online for takeaway without a problem. Food was ready when I arrived. 👍 Rotisserie chicken with a side of tomato, peach, and cucumber salad plus a bottle of Bieler Family Pinot Grigio to pair. Hazelnut apricot bar for dessert.

When you are nowhere near a familiar place and you want something wholesome and nourishing, you can count on this place to deliver. Excuse the flies in the summer, and the limited outdoor seating. But make sure you get in here for a quality meal with no additives or preservatives. They really put love in their food, I could taste it. I was on a tour of the region when I stopped in here for lunch and some wine. I had the Salad Trio Plate. My friend got the gourmet grilled cheese. Nothing synthetic touched my palate. I brought home some hazelnut shortbread and a few bottles of the hot sauce they have there for retail sale too. Check this joint out, maybe consider their catering business too. Really the place to be. Walked away feeling like I supported a great business but also that my body was thankful for giving it nourishment....and vino!

SerpAPI
Very delicious artisan crafted food. This place serves quality food made with excellent ingredients. It is not cheap in terms of a typical lunch but the food is nothing typical either. For those not sure of what to eat in Hood River for lunch this place is difficult to beat. Only downside, bathroom is located around the building so you've got to go outside to get to it (but that's pretty typical for some of the Hood River buildings).

SerpAPI
Looks like a neat restaurant, but looks can be deceiving. Instituting explicit segregation and discrimination against happy, healthy, and friendly fellow humans who prefer to choose their own necessary medical procedures is the height of hypocrisy for an establishment also virtue signaling a welcoming and safe place for those who identify in other minority groups. “Show your papers” is a long recognized and admonished relic of 1941-era persecution, or 1921, or 1961 and now again 2021/2022.

SerpAPI
Very friendly staff, and tasty sandwiches. Bread was fresh and the vegetables were crisp and plentiful on our veggie sandwiches. Potato salad was as garlicky as the name implied.

Ordered lunch with a group of 5. The lady taking the my order asked me to repeat my sandwich order three times. I finally said, 'The Cubano sandwich, five items down on the hot sandwich menu..' Oh, gotcha (or something like that), came the response. To my surprise, my sandwich never came out. When I approached the register to ask about the sandwich, I had to stand in line and wait for my new turn in the cue because the vendor and the other two employees are all adept at not making eye contact. I was able to ask the young lady delivering orders to tables about my sandwich. She barely looked at me. She gave me no clue as to what, if anything, she may do to follow-up with me. She looked at a couple empty counters and then looked in the register when it was free and determined that a Cubano was not on 'my' ticket. (They never offered a receipt upon purchase, so I didn't know the lady didn't 'get' my order. Although they did make me feel like they thought I was attempting to game them for a free sandwich. I was not. I would have been happy to order and pay for another sandwich. I did just spend over $90 on lunch for 5 (I thought) including a 20% tip.The sum total of their solution to this situation was, 'There is no Cubano on your ticket.') There were other problems with this experience. It was hot in their deli. Lots of groups of two taking up 6 person tables. (This vendor seems particularly disinterested in the customer experience after the point of sale.) Service is slow. Orders trickle out one at a time. I initiated a dispute for the amount I paid in tip. I have learned from this experience not to tip prior to completion of service. Of course, I was not beyond reproach in this situation. I could have insisted on a receipt at the point of sale and reviewed it meticulously and avoided the problem entirely. By the time I recognized that I had a problem and had the attention of staff I was frustrated and ready for a confrontation and I was not nice about expressing myself. In retrospect, I think I just felt unvalued by this vendor and it hurt my feelings. I won't go back.

Yelp
Great place to grab a lunch in Mt. Hood. I had an amazing turkey and cranberry chutney with Swiss beautifully stacked arugula and mayo sandwich. Memorably delicious. Their salads looked incredible, hope to go back and try one. The beet and orange salad looked especially tempting. Really cute place to dine in and there are an abundance of amazing things to choose from. I had the banana bread and although it was delicious flavor, it was slightly dry. Maybe needs a little more oil or butter to hold over moisture? Highly recommended!

Yelp
Only downside is if you are physically disabled, the bathroom is outside, down the parking lot to the back of the building, off the alley. It is definitely not wheelchair accessible. So go before/after. BUT, definitely come here to eat!!! Small menu but so much work & care goes into each dish! Turkey Berry sandwich was fantastic as was the Beet salad and the Suger Pea salad! The mandarin oranges in the beet salad were a wonderful pleasant surprise: I'm going to start adding them to mine! The black sesame dressing was delicious & lite and more savory but a bit too much oil. Friend liked her lemon bar which had a perfect shortbread base with a nice thick layer of sweet tart lemon filling. I had the best Key Lime cheesecake bar! Again nice graham cracker base, nice thick layer of cheesecake filling topped with the perfect layer of tart Key lime. They have their own small parking lot on the west side of the building, which I GREATLY appreciated not having to pay for parking! The Morracan chicken smelled heavenly! And several other salads looked so fresh!

Marna K.

Yelp
Delightful treats for dessert can be found here! Easy to stop in and grab to go on your way for a picnic or to enjoy outside on a nice evening :) There were also tasty looking sides and other staples that I wish I had time to peruse. Next time!

Michael L.

Yelp
I've eaten here in the past and the food was outstanding. My lunch today was just average at $37 for two folks. Disappointed when I asked for an additional peanut sauce (very small) for a wrap, I was charged an additional $2 for it.

Angela C.

Yelp
My family and I stopped in here after driving along the Columbia Gorge. This place is like a cafe and market in one. They mainly sell hot and cold sandwiches and also have roast chicken and a few other hot foods. You order and find a seat, where they bring you your meal and then you bus your own table. I had the Turkey Berry sandwich, hubby got the Ham & Brie panini, and my kids got the Spicy Pork sandwich, burrito, and gluten free grilled cheese kids meal (the kids meal was a lone little sandwich with no sides, so that was kind of a pathetic looking kids meal. Overall the quality of the food was tasty and fresh, but nothing mind blowing.

Yelp
Quick lunch after the Christmas Train. Yummy food; friendly people; great filberts on the salad. Roasted chicken was very flavorful.

RN R.

Yelp
We had hungarian mushroom soup, the berry turkey and the ham and fig. We absolutely loved our food, just wish it was more affordable- it was not a good portion for the cost on any of the dishes we got... so it makes it hard to want to go back when saving money is importnant and for the same amount of money spent we could get better portions.

Kim G.

Yelp
Delicious, healthy food! We ate everything so quickly, I have no pictures of my lunch! Body's Kitchen has soups, salads, sandwiches and hot food items like chicken enchiladas and roasted chicken. You can mix and match all sorts of combinations to create your meal. Plus a freezer full of food you can buy and heat up at home. After a gorgeous scenic ride along the WA side of the Columbia, and shopping in some of my favorite boutiques, (have to support local business, right?) we were quite ravenous but didn't want to waste any of this sunny, blue sky day by sitting inside or at a more formal restaurant. While passing Boda's Kitchen, right in the middle of town on Oak Street, the intoxicating aroma lured us in. After checking everything out in both the market area and the deli case, I went for a piece of lemon & herb roasted chicken with a side of quinoa salad and a side of brussel sprouts. Let's just say, I made a fabulous choice! The chicken was perfectly roasted with crispy skin and juicy, flavorful meat. The quinoa salad had chopped zucchini and sweet potatoes and maybe kale, all dressed in a lovely vinaigrette. Bright and fresh. The brussel sprouts, once only seen in Thanksgiving tables and now available everywhere, all year long, we're the star of the show! Roasted and dressed in a sweet and savory glaze, they were perfectly caramelized. I could eat a bowl of these and be satisfied! This is fresh food, made from high quality ingredients, cooked perfectly, served with a smile! You can't go wrong here! Next time I will try their roasted beat salad and maybe one of their sandwiches. The chicken salad with grapes and walnuts looked so good! You can purchase chips, cookies and brownies, and beverages from the case. I chose a hard dry cider and we sat out front and ate, actually devoured, our lunch in the fresh air and sunshine. Felt so good to have a sense of normalcy during these crazy Covid times! The lunch was so filling and satisfying, we didn't eat dinner. Boda's Kitchen is a high end deli without the high end prices or attitude! Wish they had a second location in Portland! But I venture to Hood River frequently and now I have a favorite go to spot for lunch!

Stephanie M.

Yelp
Delightful cafe! Great wine selection, you can buy a bottle to enjoy with your meal. Highly recommend!

Jan C.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch. The paninis (hot Italian and Cubano) were fabulous. Great flavors and plenty of food. For me the garlic mashed potatoes did not have enough flavor. Service was not welcoming, but was efficient. Interesting that I asked if they could include forks with our to go order and the server said "it's in the bag" and even though we ordered two paninis, a medium side serving and there were two of us she only gave us one fork??

David F.

Yelp
I have had Mexican meals twice this week and, in spite of wanting to try "Kim's" suggestion, I wanted something different. Thanks to high Yelp retirees I came to Boda's and left very satisfied. Tried their lemon roasted chicken which was tender and seasoned with right amount of herbs. (This is roasted vs deep fried.). Added the corn salad with roasted corn taken off the cob, cilantro, pieces of tomatoes and more. Also, the garlicky potato salad with just the right amount of Mayo and garlic without being overwhelming. Finally, had a coconut macaroon -one of my favs- and it was just right. Not compacted or too sweet - perfect. A will come back for me.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch during our Mt. Hood Day Trip from Portland to Multnomah Falls and Hood River. We both had the Ham and Brie Panini, which was outstanding. Fresh ingredients, friendly staff, and a charming shop made this an outstanding choice. Highly recommended for lunch whilst in Hood River, which itself is a delightful little town.

Tucker H.

Yelp
Unbelievably small portions. Felt like a rip off for a $14 panini that has one slice of meat on it, deeply unsatisfying Spent $30 and ended up just having to go down the street after to get a burger

Gloria S.

Yelp
Great vegetarian sandwich. Fun market of wines and other items. I'd happily return and work my way thru the menu over time.

Lee N.

Yelp
The food here is easy and good! Great sandwiches! They friendly gal at the counter even cut the sandwich in half for my sister. How nice! I highly recommend the Carmel cheesecake bar and look forward to trying the lemon bar next time for dessert. :)

Brittany S.

Yelp
I was on the hunt for soups or salads and Boda's Kitchen popped up in my Yelp search to fill both of the my desires. Better yet, the soup of the day was gazpacho (one of my favorite soups!). I also loved seeing that 1.) they had a very straightforward online ordering platform; 2.) the beet salad appears to be their most popular and beets never get enough love; 3.) they appear to use local and seasonal ingredients on the menu wherever they can; 4.) had I not already purchased a pie earlier in the day, I would have ordered one of their fun and individually sized desserts like the panna cotta topped with huckleberries or flourless chocolate cake. I ended up ordering the two piece rotisserie chicken meal with two sides (beer salad and soup) for $12. We placed the order online and the food was ready in thirty minutes for pickup.

Alisha N.

Yelp
Ok guys, my apologies for lack of manners and not sharing the picture of my very tasty Northwest Salad prior to scarfing it down. The crunch from the hazelnuts and creamy house balsamic vinaigrette is what makes this salad for me. I got the side size and it was the perfect size for a late lunch/snack. Not only was there food delicious but incredibly easy to order online with curbside pick up. If you are able to order online then they still got your cover in a very COVID 19 safe way with a couple outdoor seats, order at the door, little to no contact ordering situation. I also want to give a shout out to their consistent efforts to reduce plastic waste by providing wooden utensils and recycled certified green to go containers. Way to help us eat on the go and not feel guilty about the waste consumed from plastics. If you are looking for something a bit more filling their rotisserie chicken is also aaaamazing! Boda's is always a solid downtown Hood River go to! Thanks

Gilbert D.

Yelp
First and for last the gal at the register was super nice to my young children. Second the food is fresh no doubt. Last, a little too pricy for the size of food.

Sarah V.

Yelp
Great food and friendly staff. We had the Hot Italian and the Cubano paninis as well as a small Greek salad. Everything was delicious. We will be back!

Mike R.

Yelp
Nice little deli in the middle of town. They are an excellent sandwich, salad, and lunch special kind of place. We opted for the chicken special with two sides. We ended up with a chicken leg quarter, a garlic-y potato salad, and some roasted vegetables. I cleaned my plate and was full for hours. V had a large bowl of onion soup that was chock full of sweet onions topped with a slice of cheese - a little sweet but good to the last spoonful. A good recommendation from a local business woman that eats there often. They also serve a selection of sweets and bottles of wine.

Paul C.

Yelp
For a quick snack or to round out a meal back at home, this is like a convenience store for foodies. Great cheese and wine selection. I just wish they had freshly baked bread...

Sarah Y.

Yelp
We loved having Boda's and owner Sirota cater our wedding at Gorge Crest Vineyards. From the time we contacted her to actually eating her food at our reception, we knew we found the right person, with the right vision on food and dining to cater for us. Her team put together a fantastic family style menu for us, and provided/curated lovely table settings and plateware for us. She also has connections/ran point on working with our alcohol vendor to organize the alcohol, so it was one less vendor we had to work with director. Plus, she didn't mind at all helping us work within our budget while still making sure there was plenty of choices for the menu. On top of catering for us, Sirota designed and ran point on making our custom table centerpieces, which was her brainchild-- a tablescape of autumn harvest fruits and herbs from the Gorge. Hello!! Talk about functional, delicious and gorgeous centerpieces. Our guests ate 'em all up, literally! Her team also made our wedding favors, which were mini loaves of banana bread, a dessert that was very special to my husband and my love story. Again, guests ate them all up, and it was a welcomed treat after dancing snack, and were raving about them. You won't just get a caterer with Boda's and Sirota...you'll get a dedicated and passionate team of foodies who really care about making your day amazing, boozy, fun, and delicious!

Maggie P.

Yelp
This place was referred by a local. The owner, Sirota, which we did not know at the time, took our order. She was very unpleasant. Rude. No greeting, no smiles. Her presence was "hurry up I don't want to be here and I don't care". Ha! I asked a question about the iced tea, if there was a free refill. "No", that was it. Anyway, food was good. But I did not care for the atmosphere, especially from an owner.

Chris H.

Yelp
Great food. Small place, but full of warmth! Support the little guy! Support local and healthy food.

Vicki B.

Yelp
I had the spicy pork sandwich and roasted beet salad. Both were amazingly tasty. I also enjoyed looking at all the other delicious and interesting foods they had available for sale. I will be back to enjoy other selection!

Lori H.

Yelp
Great place to stop for a quick bite while driving through the Columbia River Gorge. The service is always friendly and they have a nice variety of items to choose from. The deli case has delicious salads, pre-made items that can be heated, roasted chicken (yum!), soups, sandwiches and desserts. There isn't much seating, so to-go is the best option here, especially during lunch time as it can get quite busy. They also have some fun and unique gift offerings, snacks and beverages for purchase. They don't have a parking lot, only street parking available (as most restaurants and shops do in this area). They also have a restroom, but it's down around the backside of the building in the basement...you've been warned ;-) Overall, I would highly recommend for the great food and convenience.

Mark H.

Yelp
OMG! Can't wait to go back! On our anniversary weekend and we were late making reservations at some of the local spots so we said let's just pick something up and go back to the room! Boda's seemed nice but it's a Deli so we weren't expecting much. Sandwiches, potato salad, etc. Whoa! Were we wrong! Lemon herb rotisserie chicken was perfect! Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and the flavor!! Mashed potatoes were great but the star of the potato offerings was definitely the Garlicky Potato Salad!! The name is correct, in case you're a vampire, burger are delicious! Sesame sugar snap peas were equally delicious! They even pull the string along the spine of the pod! So awesome! Greek salad and caramel cheesecake bar for dessert for us to share and literally everything was awesome!! Don't miss this place when in HR!

Suzanne Z.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place on our drive from Walla Walla back to Ashland. What a find! Absolutely delicious soup and salad. I would describe this place as a gourmet deli. Bonus is that it is a quick in-and-out, for those who want to get back on the road. I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because I thought it was spendy for the quantity of food.

Dell M.

Yelp
Love Boda's kitchen! I stop there every time I am in Hood River. Amazing sandwiches at a very good price. Wine selection is top notch. Everything they sell is high quality.

Esther K.

Yelp
Placed an online order for pickup. Chicken was delicious, loved the potato salad, beet salad, and especially the key lime cheesecake! Super yummy and a nice little gem in Hood River.

Kaci N.

Yelp
Bodas catered our wedding and did above and beyond what we could have asked for. They made sure the day ran smoothly and we had nothing to worry about at any point in time. We had passed appetizers and the staff ensured they made it to each guest. Our guests could not stop talking about how good the food was all weekend long and my husband and I couldn't stop raving about them. Absolutely amazing job and I would recommend them for anything!

Diane L.

Yelp
This restaurant is by far the best one in hood city. The food is so outstanding. I drove an hour and a half out of my way just to pick up several complete chicken dinners including garlic mashed potatoes and several salads. The secret seasonings that they use on their rotisserie chickens have me singing their praises. Everything they make is so fresh and so absolutely delicious. I have never been dissatisfied in my choices. I used to live a lot closer to their location, but moving away doesn't stop me from taking that beautiful trip to Mt. Hood city. The people that work there are so pleasant and so helpful, especially during the pandemic. I highly recommend picking up their dinners to go with one or two of their vast array of delicious handmade salads. I let all my friends know about Boda's Deli, and I can't wait to come back.

Mark H.

Yelp
We stopped in here for a snack. There was no eating allowed inside so we sat at a table on the sidewalk in front. The Rotisserie Chicken was delicious, the roasted Beet salad was good though she left off the goat cheese, The Turkey Berry Sandwich was so so.

Amy B.

Yelp
Unfortunately they were only open for takeout due to corona virus, but I was able to order from the menu. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and it was perfectly grilled with pickles and mustard seed. The sandwich was not too greasy, as sometimes occurs when there is grilled cheese. So tasty! In fact I'm going to say this is probably the best Cuban sandwich I've had. The server also kindly included extra pickles and carrot on the side.

Lisa H.

Yelp
We love Boda's and frequent this place for lunch. Their meals are delicious and you can tell the food is fresh. The daily specials are yummy too! During COVID, we order their dinners to go and have ample left overs. If you're looking for a quick stop to pick up, I highly recommend!

Jarred H.

Yelp
I have been here before and had a few interesting lunch specials but Yesterday was crazy bad. I had the falafel special, the falafels were so hard I had to stab them with a fork and pull them apart. I still scratched the roof of my mouth like I just crammed a handful of stale Doritos into my mouth. The scant amount of yogurt and hummus spread over the store bought pita was no where near enough to soften up those rocks. Now I don't know for sure that the pitas were from the local Safeway...but they sure looked and tasted like they nailed the $0.99 special on the day old rack. I've done that myself, however I'm not charging 10.50 for 3 rocks on a pita. I guess they get a few points for using a few leaves of lettuce mix that didn't include romaine. Meh.

Evan S.

Yelp
Ordered online last night. Great takeout dinner for 3 of us. The roasted chicken was awesome. We also had several veggie sides. My personal favorite was the beets. It all tasted homemade, comfort food! Highly recommend this place!:)

Danielle D.

Yelp
Super yummy spot I always stop in traveling through town. Great healthy options and local food.

Dave S.

Yelp
We decided last minute to make a day trip to Hood River. After a few hours of sightseeing and a train ride, we were getting hungry. We had the kids with us and decided sandwiches was likely the best option. A google search brought up Bodas. My kids needed to use the restroom, although we needed a key and it was outside around the corner and at the back of the building the bathrooms were extremely clean and well managed. The kids both wanted a tuna fish wrap. I got the Turkey cranberry sandwich and my wife decided on the veggie sandwich. There was a clean picnic table outside and they only took a few minutes to bring out the food. The tuna wraps tasted extremely fresh and Mae with real tuna not the canned garbage other delis serve. My wife's veggie was extremely tasty and had many different flavors and textures. She couldn't get enough. My sandwich was absolutely delightful too. Next time I will order some Brie on mine, that would take it to the next level. We were all so impressed we got 4 lemon bars to go. We are those on the way home. They were so amazing. We might have to plan a trip back just to have another great picnic lunch.

Nina Z.

Yelp
Great spot for a quick healthy bite. I've stopped by Boda's a few times while on road trips. The rotisseree chicken is great, the veggie options are fresh and delicious. I especially like their snap pea salad, and fresh fruit salad. The staff is always exteremely pleasant. The only downside is the bathroom -- it's outside around the back of the building, in a really awkward spot.

Jonathan S.

Yelp
Awesome customer service and great tasting food! I think we arrived after a food-rush, so we didn't have the chance to eat exactly what we wanted. Overall, I think that this was a healthy, enjoyable place to eat. It's both a nice sit-down restaurant and store, which makes it a nice retreat from Portland.

Trisha T.

Yelp
I loved this little deli restaurant. The rotisserie chicken was hot and juicy. The sides of kale & quinoa, and beets & goat cheese were both delicious. Fresh and "oh-so" yummy food that is very reasonably priced. This will definitely be my lunch stop, the next time I'm down exploring the Columbia River Gorge.

Jody L.

Yelp
High quality homemade bistro. A+ to go choices. Perfect lunch. Seriously delish chicken dumpling soup with their rotisserie chicken. Boyfriend loved the Cuban sandwich. Beautiful salad choices.

Jessica C.

Yelp
No dine in option right now but pretty quick service curbside! The food was delicious. My husband got the hot Italian sandwich and I got the vegetarian. Both were fresh and surprisingly delicious. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a lunch spot. There is a park across the street you could take your to go order to eat. It was a pleasant lunch.

Francis G.

Yelp
Boda's Kitchen catered my wedding and everything they served was absolutely superb! Everything was delicious, beautifully presented, and their team always responded in a timely manner and was a joy to work with. I highly recommend them.

Ron H.

Yelp
Definitely get the sample salad choice!! Salads were fantastic. Also got the turkey berry sandwich, also excellent.

Zoe L.

Yelp
This place is horrendous. My miniature $9 grilled cheese sandwich tasted rancid for some reason... staff was sooo disorganized...and the bread I got was stale as if it was frozen for a long period of time. Don't waste your money. I don't understand these hood river establishments..

Darren C.

Yelp
Hands down the best sandwich I've had in about 6 years. Turkey sandwich on some delicious bread amazing cheese, I'm not even sure what it was but it was so yummy. I'll be making the 90 min drive RT once a month just to get this.

Ryan R.

Yelp
An awesome place for everyone. Vegan, gluten free, dairy free and pure carnivorous appetites. This local delicatesan offers it all.

Rudy B.

Yelp
This place is awesome! The food was superb, the staff so engaging and friendly, the wine excellent and everything was priced fairly. We loved everything about Boda's! Just now the staff announced they are giving tours of their kitchen. Good fun people!
