Bodean’s Review - Soho - London - The Infatuation

"Look, Bodean’s isn’t the greatest BBQ spot in the world, but it’s one of the few places in London where you can watch England implode against a team of semi-professional footballers and highly professional plumbers whilst stuffing your face with burnt ends and smoked sausage. For that alone, it has much worth. The Soho original is our favourite, not just because it’s got loads of screens and loads of meat, but because of its useful location in central." - Jake Missing

I cannot recommend this place enough. Amazing décor, great music, truly an original aesthetic. The food was amazing. I got the brisket and the burger, and it was fantastic, as well as the fries, which have a very particular taste. They’re not just regular fries—there’s something in them. It was really great. We also had a tomato salad on the side with really fresh tomatoes. I’m not sure where they buy them from, but they were excellent. And then a couple of pints of Murphy’s, a stout I haven’t seen in some time. But best of all was the service—really happy faces and welcoming people. Definitely coming back.

Very very good service and high quality food!!!! Amazing American bbq in the heart of London! If you like this type of cuisine, this is a must visit!!! We got the platter which includes a bit of everything and for two people it was enough! Shame that they were out of crispy baby potatoes! We visited on a Sunday afternoon at 7pm and we walked in with no reservation and 0 waiting time! Highly recommended!

Great food, great service, good choice and good size portions, would definitely recommend a visit. 10 min walk for theatres so convenient. Price not bad for Central London.

The food was very tasty. Pleasantly surprised with the overall taste of each dish. We ordered the sharing platter for 3 people. It was the perfect amount of food. The meat was plentiful and tasty. (Could have been. Bit warmer) the highlights were side dishes. The bbq beans and the potato salad were incredible. The blue ribbon larger was a nice addition to the meal. Light refreshing and super cold. The only let down was the service. It was friendly but very very slow. Clearly understaffed on a busy Saturday afternoon with only 3 members of staff upstairs. The food arrived very quick but the staff only showed to take the order and deliver the food we didn’t see them again until he asked twice for the bill. No option of buying more drinks etc.

Food is excellent, 👌 Baby back ribs are incredible, even the plate is happy! 😃 Recommend the fries 🍟 with chipotle mayo & the gorgeous smoked sweet potato 🍠 with rosemary salt 🧂 & butter! 🧈 Staff are incredibly friendly too! 😁

Google
The food was really nice. The staff were so welcoming and attentive. I wasn't a fan of the peach cobbler. It was quite bland and the scoop ice cream that came with it was far too small, but the beef burnt ends, chips and sauces were great. I also enjoyed the hurricane cocktail

Google
Great food and good service. Not as good value as it once was as menu changes and price increases have been introduced. Beef Brisket Burnt Ends: Full of flavour, fantastic. Pit Boss Beans: Awesome, perhaps the best thing on the menu! Onion rings: big portion, nice. On a negative note. The toilets are not in great shape, not very clean and smell terrible. You are not a budget restaurant and your guests deserve better! I pop in here around once a month and will be back soon as the food is great and always good service.

Google
In short. An absolutely amazing experience! Anna was the most wonderful hostess, friendly, professional and really helpful in recommending the most delicious foods. The smoked selection of meats and sides were ridiculously delicious and perfectly prepared! Lovely atmosphere and very fairly priced for the amount of effort it must have taken to prepare. Will recommend 👌 Thanks again Anna and staff! ❤️

Yelp
Bottom-line: while maybe average to its American traditional bbq counterpart , Boudean's is probably as good as it gets for London. Ordered the half baby back ribs, fries and slaw. Baby back ribs: not necessarily fall of the bone type of ribs, but if you give it a good tug , some of the meats will slide off its axis. I enjoyed it for what it's worth. Obviously, the smoker is limited in scope , so I'm not expecting Texas style quality. Was a little chewy in some places, but also tender in others. Had a preference for the chiptole bbq sauce rather than the hickory. Fries were mostly good (minus the tiny bits). So close to the meats, the fries absorbed some of the smokiness flavor. Slaw: low-point of the bbq. They used way, way, too much dressing. Like it was flooded. Also the cabbage wasn't cut finely, but presented as whole chunk slices. Would definitely not recommend this one. Overall minus the slaw, I enjoyed Bodean's

Yelp
Good taste of the US with some smoked bbq. Variety if choices from pulled pork Mac and cheese to my recommendation of the boss hog dog. Sticky fingers were not my favorite so may avoid that appetizer choice. Dined with a group of 35 and they were able to accommodate us in their basement dining area with a call ahead. Wait staff was pleasant although took a minute to get that much food out and had to ask for drink refills, but overall would surely return.

Yelp
Pre-COVID review: We needed a place to eat and the wait for Flat Iron was too long. Thanks to Yelp, we found Bodean's and we also found that Bodean's has pretty darn BBQ, even to rival the good stuff we have back home in Los Angeles! We were seated downstairs, with TVs galore surrounding us. The Bodean's Platter is a solid selection (£25.90)! BF says he can't wait to come back when he's in the food for barbecue on our next London trips. Neither can I!

Yelp
Walked by and the menu made me drool. Made reservation for the same evening. The staff was very lovely! Hawaiian Punch was yummy. The food was just ok. The only main disappointment was the coleslaw. It tasted like thinly sliced watery cabbage. Not the coleslaw you would assume to get at a bbq place. I was really looking forward to a great bbq dinner and was slightly disappointed to the lack of love in my food.
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty mediocre Texas style BBQ, especially if you've had a chance to try the real deal. It'll get the job done to satisfy those meat cravings, but don't expect to be blown away.
google avatar

Yelp
I never thought there would be great American Texas style BBQ in London but boy I was proven wrong! I had the Jacob's Ladder which was fall off the bone tender, and it was absolutely delicious with some Chipotle BBQ sauce. The chips that I requested (in lieu of mashed potatoes) were very on-point as well! The only thing that was lacking was the speed and attentiveness of the service - it took me a while to get utensils to eat after I got my BBQ platter because the server who said he would get some for me forgot about it! Would recommend this place based on the food!

Yelp
Delicios food. Had the ribs / pulled pork with slaw and fries. Sauces were great too. Hot sauce is very tasty and didn't taste like you were dying . Priced great and had great lunch / daily specials as well Setting is very nice and chill.. definitely recommend

Yelp
Was excited to find a BBQ place in London! Lot of reviews said to make reservations, but we went on a Thursday night and didn't need one. We got a 1/2 chicken and the appetizer share selection which included sausage, wings, fried Mac n cheese, among others. All the meat was really tasty, the chicken especially was good and juicy. I had the coleslaw, though, which was noooooot good at all. Lol. I don't know if it's a European/England thing but it was bitter and not at all sweet like I'm used to in US. My wife also had the cornbread which was dry and not very flavorful. Everything seemed fairly priced, we paid around 35 pounds for just 2 plates and a soda. Wished we could have tried more.

Yelp
The location and vibe of this place is great if you're looking an easy going sports bar. But dinner was a little bit of a comedy of errors. Our waiter kept getting the order wrong and when he eventually got it right, somehow managed to arrive at the table with a completely different dish lol! Otherwise, it was only 'ok'. Meat was dry on all the rib and burnt ends orders but the sauce helped. Fries were nice but I wish the service was a bit quicker. All in all...meh...

Yelp
Barbecue, I have missed you. I'm sorry for moving away from you to here, the Olde Worlde. After being tempted by another Bodean's that has since closed (and is now so recorded on Yelp), I was cautious about letting my stomach know that this was a possibility lest there be another disappointment. But we knew within a block. The smell of chargrilled meat! We're coming for you! Here we are! What are we having? Chicken? Ribs? Pork? Want! Want! WANT! Time to start salivating! It was like my digestive system was a child on Christmas morning. I managed to shut it up with an "imported" American beer while I made my decision. Order and pay at the clearly labeled "order here!" till ("register" in American) and get your number. Then go back to your table, rubbing your hands together at the prospect of consuming flesh! A few minutes, my ears caught the "264!" being shouted and my food was brought to me. A tray of "burnt ends" and a pile of pulled pork with another pile of fries (none of these Brit 'chips' thankyouverymuch) and a plastic cup of slaw. The meat was tender and the sauce was spicy and sweet. The fries perhaps weren't very hot, but the slaw was tart. All told, pretty darned good especially considering it was served on a plastic tray. No, not a plate on a tray. Just a piece of butcher paper on a tray. Like they'd ever do THAT at a British restaurant! There's a former six-pack container on the table to hold condiments like ketchup and two kinds of barbecue sauce. Also a roll of kitchen paper for wiping up the bits that didn't quite make it all the way into your mouth. Really good food and £15 or so for a full plate (less for a sandwich, more for a full rack of ribs). Quite possibly the only place in London you'll find American beers like this. Lone Star? Really? Yes, really. The TV's hanging from the ceiling were tuned in to ESPN America. Who knew there was such a thing? Boston and Vancouver Stanley Cup, followed by the Yankees kicking some Cleveland behind. I get the impression that they show all the US sports here. Oh, it was good. Oh, I was stuffed. Oh, I will be back!

Yelp
I'm Boston beer, American BBQ & listening to The Beatles in London. It cannot get anymore cliché than this. If you are craving meat (not chicken really), this is the place to be. They're known for their 'Burnt Ends', and if you do get them get it with the pork ribs and a pint. Nice grungey place, especially like the pink Neon pig on the glass display. The layout is pretty open here (at least on the first floor). If you're expecting to have a nice private moment, you'll probably end up sharing a table with others. They have a few two long table that seats 10pax and corner tables facing the walls and tables that are perfect for couples or threesome. One the basement however (aka Rib Room), has a different atmosphere altogether. It has cosier environment, complete with a full bar, cushioned seats that fits a good 4pax for intimate sessions. The food, what we ordered: 1. Burnt ends with Pork Ribs Wet £16.95 - comes with fries and coleslaw - could choose your Burnt Ends in wet or dry, wet comes with all the juice and dry, is just dry with sauce on the side (I think) - it's quite a generous portion, but enough for one hungry meat eater 2. 135g Boston Butt Sandwich (more like a burger) - comes with fries - coleslaw ordered separately £2.50 - pork shoulder smashed between two perfect buns 3. A pint of Sam Adams £6.95 Total damage: £33.35! A little steep for two You like meat? You will have enough meat here.

Yelp
Now this is great BBQ as we know it in the USA! Bodeans does not take reservations but for some reason there is always a seat available. Most of the seats upstairs are the bench type but unknown to many there is a large seating area downstairs. I didnt know this until I was using the restroom when we were about to leave. I had a milkshake there that was possibly the best I have ever had. The BBQ and fries were spot on. When you get in line to order it seems to take a while but it is worth the wait. And they bring the food to you once you have ordered and paid. A definite place to visit to eat in London.

Yelp
Short story: pricey and just okay. Long story: A dinner for two while on business in London central. Here's what we ordered and what we thought. Alcohol: Bloody Cesar £5.50. No celery salted rim, very watered down, even the Clamato felt watery. Not recommended. Starter: Memphis nachos £8.75. Where do I even start? The chips were store bought and already flavored with something powdery that messed up the overall flavor. The cheese... what cheese? There was no cheese, only a few pieces of pickled jalapeño thrown on top of some watery sour cream of sorts. This starter really disappointed us. Bodean's platter for two £27.50. Meat was decent, the ribs mostly. Chicken thighs a bit dry, but not bad per se. The burnt tips were meh. Tasted like goulash meat to us and not in a good way. Side of mac & cheese was pale and unimpressive. Tasted like it came from packaged powder, and likely did. Coleslaw: straight awful. We each had a fork of this slaw and put it down. Neither of us tried it again, it's way soaked in mayo and has no other flavor. Sweet potato fries: decent. Regular fries: salty but ok. Bottom line: it was just okay. We won't be back or recommend to others. It's okay only if you have low expectations, which we didn't, considering the booked up nights they have here.

Yelp
This place has awesome wings and would have 5 stars if it weren't for my last visit. We were seated right away, but waited and waited. The table next to us was seated, ordered drinks and we're ordering food, but we were still waiting. When we approached the hostess to move us, her reply was "I can move you, but I need the table in an hour and a half". Really? Seriously? We of course left.

Yelp
Oh my!!! Finally it happened!! After losing count of the amount of people who recommended this place to me, I finally made it to the home of barbecue chicken! So did it live up to the hype, I hear you ask?! Too damn right it did! Mmm hmm mmm! The chicken was grilled to perfection with sweet bbq and so tender! Pure deliciousness! I changed my coleslaw for a side salad, slightly more expensive, but it was drizzled with some insanely nice dressing! Under 10 pounds for chicken, fries and salad! What is this?!! Cannot be central London can I?! Too right it is! I saw a new beer on the menu, so obviously washed the feast down with a beer. It was a Mexican lager, which was kinda average, but I'm sucker for trying new things. No regrets! The fact that this has a more formal down satirise restaurant and the deli makes it even more appealing. It's basically my go to place now for chicken when I'm feeling the craving!

Yelp
An American and an Irish drunk walk into Bodean's meat palace of meat and ask 'How's the veggie burger... is it good?' 'Do you have wine, the white kind please' Regular or large? Oh look the Yankies are playing... super! Bodean's have a life sized cow statue, a pig as a door handle and BBQ on the menu. What exactly do you expect? We got a lovely staff girl, very patient and willing to attempt to pronounce French wine names and open a fresh bottle. Bodean's, hog tie that mofo, you can bet your ass i'll be back.

Yelp
Ahhh, this place makes me feel like my own very lil slice of home. Well, maybe if I lived on a pig farm or something. But there's definitely something about a delicious pulled pork sandwich that reminds me of summer BBQs, Fourth of July, fireworks, and cutoff jean shorts with Old Navy American flag t-shirts. I loved the baked beans (American BBQ ones), the COLESLAW! (I'm a fiend for it), corn bread (as Chris Rock eloquently put it: "ain't nothin wrong with that!"), and the BBQ sauce. And those were just the sides! Though nothing can beat a real homegrown smokehouse like back in the States, this place is pretty legit.

Yelp
I was recently in London for a week and found myself roaming around Soho one evening. I stumbled across Bodean's and was instantly intrigued. An American BBQ place in the heart of London town. Heck yeah! The place looked pretty friendly from the outside and had some picnic tables out front which beckoned me however there were some random smokers who thought those tables would make a great perch. This made my decision to sit inside pretty easy. I picked a place at the bar along the windows to people watch given that I was alone. The hostess and waitress were both very friendly and brought me a menu right away. I looked it over and immediately my mouth started watering. What caught my eye was the "Soho Special," a mix of burnt ends and pulled pork, and how it was named the "best sandwich in London" by someone at Capital Radio. Do they know anything about BBQ? Maybe. Either way, it sounded delicious. Then I saw the "KC Brisket Special" and was a little shocked. Why on earth would you put cheese and onion rings on a brisket sandwich? Brisket is a delicious cut of meat smoked low and slow for hours. If you need to add "extra flavour," as the menu put it, to your brisket I question the quality of your brisket and/or your cooking. This would get you shot in both Kansas City and Texas, two places famous for their brisket and where the art of BBQ might as well be a religion. I settled on the "Soho Special" with chips and a coke. While waiting I couldn't help but notice a TV playing with a replay of the previous night's MLB game and my hometown Chicago Cubs! Nothing makes me happier than seeing my Cubbies on the telly half way around the world... When my food arrived it looked good however the taste didn't live up to the menu's hype. For starters, there were supposed to be two different meats on my sandwich and I couldn't discern one from the other. Burnt ends are the ends off a rack of ribs and generally have a bit of char. Pulled pork, on the other hand, is finally chopped pork which tends to be more succulent. My sandwich seemed to have an amalgamation of the two which was quite disappointing. Making matters worse, the meat was incredibly salty! I proceeded to cover the sandwich with the smokey hickory BBQ and finished it off however I could have done without so much salt. As for the sauce, it was actually really good and I would have bottled it up and brought it home with me if I could. Too bad I had to use it to mask the saltiness of the sandwich. I wanted so very much to love this place but my American BBQ tour of Europe (had BBQ a week earlier in Dublin) continued on it's disappointing course. The atmosphere of this place was great and I'd come back for that alone but the food left me wishing I'd gone elsewhere. The staff were great, as was the sauce, but the centerpiece of my meal, the meat, was pretty lackluster. 2 stars for the food 4 or 5 stars for everything else.... 3 stars overall.
google avatar

Morgan W.

Yelp
This is the closest to Texas BBQ you will get. Loved the different flavors of bbq. The French fries are really good. The best thing to get is probably the burnt tips which are full of flavor. I dont recommend the Mac and cheese. And there was something else i had that I didn't like but go during HH you can get two cocktails. And after all, what do you taste after multiple cocktails? Overall I would say this about a three napkin meal depending on what you order.
google avatar

Natalie W.

Yelp
First time to this small chain and had a nice meal in the deli-up section - I liked that because it was pretty relaxed even though it was busy. I tried the "best sandwich in town" (Soho Special) which seems debatable as I had earlier had what was definitely a rival sandwich in Exmouth market (yes, I did eat two enormous pork sandwiches on the same day, but I know you won't judge me because you're on Yelp and you love food). I would say it was a little on the mushy side, but it tasted good what with all the sugar and the vinegar and tomato and pork. I think it could be improved with more crunchiness from the Burnt Ends that were allegedly in there. Two of my friends had the Baby Backed Ribs/Pulled Pork combo which they enjoyed, another one had the beef brisket sandwich. I thought it was quite reasonably priced, especially the sandwiches. DISCLAIMER: I also enjoy Tony Roma's especially on Tuesday and Wednesday when I can get a starter (i.e. half onion loaf) and main course (i.e. half rack of ribs) for £9.95 so possibly don't trust my taste in BBQ (or, indeed, food at all)...UNLESS: you are in Williamsburg, Brooklyn NY in which case I can tell you that there is quality BBQ at Fette Sau, owned by the same folks as run Spuyten Duyvil, an excellent bar just across the road.
google avatar

Nick S.

Yelp
This is some nom-tastic BBQ. The pulled pork sandwich, lathered with enough BBQ sauce to drown a whale, is where it's at. You'll end up queuing up Friday and Saturday nights, but if you get there before 5pm you can probably snag a couple bar stools upstairs without much (if any) of a wait. It may not beat BBQ in the states, but it'll certainly satisfy if you've been away and are jonesin' for a saucy fix.
google avatar

Adrienne Y.

Yelp
Staying on my fat American theme, this place exceeds expectations in food portion for a London spot. =D I got the regular sized Boston butt (they had a large) and it was huge!! Tasted great (but a little dry, although nothing that a table-side bottle of bbq sauce couldnt salvage). Service friendly and teeming w american football fans on NFL game nights. They even keep the place open past close time for the game. Cool place. But don't get the pabst, you'd be severely overpaying for quality of beer just because it's an 'import'
google avatar

Dan H.

Yelp
This was my second trip to Bodean's, but this time at there Soho branch, and i have to say i prefer it to the Tower Hill set up, I like the Soho idea of cuing up and ordering your own food and paying for it there and then, none of this dancing around like a cheerleader to grab the waiter/waitress's attention. Anyway, down to the important bit, the food. I ordered the burnt ends/ribs combo with a pint of Sam Adams. The burnt ends were out of this world, tender, juicy and smokey, melt in you mouth stuff. The ribs were also nice, again smokey and very tender, impressive stuff. I'd defiantly be coming here again, my new Bodean's of choice.

Yelp
Great place to get my American BBQ fix! We tried some ribs as well as the pulled pork and both were delicious. Moist meat + tangy sauce= wonderful. It was ridiculously packed on a Friday night and the wait for a table was over an hour but we managed to sneak into a table in the bar area. Nice lively atmosphere and good food!
google avatar

Yelp
Great place to satisfy my nostalgia for American food in London. We sat down on the outdoor seating and grubbed on the tasty pulled pork and half rack back ribs and fries meal. The pulled pork meat was tender and flavourful though the ribs was a bit dry. My husband and I both agree that our meals were still enjoyable overall. My brother in law on the other hand indulged himself on the medium cooked double patty burger. I had a small slice of his meat patty and I was pretty darn good. It was well-seasoned, moderately juicy and beefy and seared just right. I guess I know what I will be ordering next time I come back to Bodeans. It was absolutely a satisfying meal after a disappointing one from Fish! In the end, though we had sauce everywhere in our face and hands, our stomachs were full and happy. Bodeans...we'll be back!

Yelp
I was a bit sceptic about this place as it's famous for its American/football/sportsy vibe. The classic place where you go get the real American experience, stuff your face with BBQ delicacies & watching football. Alas, sports and I just don't match. But the food was DELICIOUS. We were a party of 7, it was an impromptu birthday lunch on a Thursday and we were seated immediately in one of their cave-like booths. Really low ceiling but spacious table and benches, and they even managed to squeeze in a small flat screen (as they do). I've had a strawberry milkshake (YUM) and one of their combo plates that included a quarter of BBQ baby back ribs slab, 1/4 chicken, pulled pork, slaw and fries. About £16 if I'm not mistaken. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it, everything was spot-on. AND I DON'T EVEN LIKE BBQ STUFF (usually). People with me ordered a variety of plates that included a full slab of baby back ribs, creamy corn (which looks yucky but hey, don't judge by the cover), beautiful sandwiches and even a massive Caesar salad with added chicken, of which glories were praised. I'm honestly so hungry right now, writing this review is torture. If you like BBQ stuff, you'll love this place. Hell, I'm not a fan of BBQ sauce and I can't wait to go back. I can see how people would want to come back here for lunch every day of their life until an obesity-induced heart disease knocks on the door. Only keeping one star because I don't really have tried a lot of different BBQ places so I don't have much to compare it with, and because there was a weird leaking coming from the light fixture that didn't scream 'safety' to me.

Yelp
Needed a rib fix - Pitt Cue was busy so popped round the corner to Bodeans. Sat in deli where you order at the counter. Service was prompt - was in and out in less than 30mins. Went for Ribs with Burnt Ends and Fries. Ribs were gorgeous and the Burnt Ends juicy. Although didn't wow. Personally will try to visit Bodeans at Tower Hill in future as it's a better set up (can sit at the bar, no deli etc).
google avatar

George C.

Yelp
One of the best places for ribs in London, with affordable prices. Slow-smoked BBQ made with the traditional American way.
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
Amazingly meaty. What else should one say about Bodeans? We snuck out of work early and went for a cheeky afternoon feast. The nachos were loaded and delicious, onion rings plentiful and crispy, the ribs to die for and pulled pork amazing. We were over excited and over ordered. We didn't need nachos before our mains, they were huge enough on their own! There's a great range of cocktails - I indulged in quite a few. Not a fan of the beers in cans costing £5 though - stick to imaginative cocktails. A little pricey when drinking too, but huge, filling portions make it worth it.

Yelp
There's a reason why there are queues out the door every evening in Soho. This place is good, and these queues aren't artificial. The top floor is rammed packed with people turning up at the last minute. It's common to here there's a 1.5-2 hour wait at it's busiest. However you can often leave your details or wait outside and be seated a lot sooner. Book early, and you'll be seated in the more spacious downstairs, which actually isn't as rammed packed, but you'll need a party of at least 8. The service is excellent. Our waitress was helpful and went out their way to check certain items were available, particularly the milkshakes which they stop making at certain times. Note, come here with your appetite in check, because the portions are deceptively large. The sharing platters, a mixture of ribs, baby back ribs, burnt ends, chicken wings are missions in themselves. Some meat was a little dry but that can be forgiven with lots of BBQ hickory sauce available to slother over your meal. The coleslaw was a little bland, the chips perfectly seasoned. I had the chicken buffalo burger. The meat tender and BBQ'd to perfection. It wasn't particularly big, but I was unable to finish my chips or have room for dessert. Prices are extremely reasonable around £15-20 per head, and if you know beforehand you can also ask for a free item of food based on the day of the week, which is a pretty nice touch. (with a Bodean's Q Card)

Yelp
I usually sit upstairs area of Bodean but thought we would try out the restaurant that is located downstairs. You get the full menu in the restaurant but even the same dish served upstairs is slightly different. Although I am not a big fan of my food served on a tray upstairs I think the dish combination is better. Also it was too dark in the restaurant, it made me want to fall asleep. We shared one of the combo and the thunder chicken thighs. But I found the thunder chicken tasted really burnt. In the dark you would not realise how burnt it was until we put it under a bright torch light and saw the skin was almost black. It was disappinted since I love my chicken thighs.

Yelp
Love meat? You'll love Bodean's! It's pretty much a meat eater's dream: spare ribs, pulled pork, bbq chicken, burnt ends. They also do things like steaks, burgers, salads and hot dogs, but seeing as BBQ food is their speciality you'd be crazy not to go with one of the former. The BBQ burnt ends are lush and one of my favourite things on the menu - slow cooked flavoursome chunks of beef brisket. If you're going with a friend I'd recommend the Bodean's sharing platter - pretty affordable at £26 - which comes with fries and coleslaw and gives you a little bit of everything. If you sign up for their loyalty Q Card you get various freebies and discounts throughout the week. Last time I went I got a free portion of chicken wings. It's free to join so there's really no reason why you shouldn't! This joint of Bodean's is in the heart of Soho and very popular so you will have to wait a while, especially if you want to sit downstairs in the proper restaurant area. Waiters have always been friendly when I've been and service generally quite efficient.

Yelp
Stopped here randomly as I was looking for a place to eat and this came up on yelp! with all the good reviews I was expecting something amazing.... On arrival we was told the wait downstairs to be seated will be around 30 minutes for two people and upstairs we could be seated straight away we chose the latter. Here you have to order and pay for your food at the front counter after this you take your seat and wait for your number to be called. Once you've heard your number being called you identify yourself (put your hand up) and a waiter will bring your food over. Literally 10 minutes after ordering our food came out i was quite surprised as the place was busy and this makes me think that the food was probably microwaved. Between the two of us we ordered a meal and some hot wings. The meal consisted of fries, coleslaw and chicken. The wings where not great!! if it was not for the bbq sauce which I drenched them in I probably would not of eaten them. The main meal was okay the fries and the coleslaw where pretty good however the chicken lacked taste and again was drenched in the bbq sauce. Overall I probably would go back as the concept is good and I like the whole idea however they just need to improve somewhat on the taste of the food!!!

Yelp
Definitely a great place for civilised chaps' night out. Went here recently to catch up with some old friends and in between mouthfuls of meat we all agreed that this joint consistently kicks bottom. Although there are other places (but far too few) in London that do great steak and other flash flesh, I'd possibly go so far to say that this is the best one pound-for-£. For a group larger than 3, I totally recommend going downstairs for the proper seats, tables, and good waiter/waitress service. We went on a Tuesday evening, when all steak dinners are half price after 6pm. They really know how to treat their customers - they even do gift vouchers now.

Yelp
We arrived on a Friday evening expecting a hefty wait, but were seated straight away in the 'deli' area at the top. The seating up there is long shared tables, but there is enough space to sit and eat comfortably (unlike in many other similar establishments). The atmosphere is very laid back and there are American sports channels on the TVs, which adds nicely to the diner feel. I ordered what I always get from any American BBQ place - pulled pork. I'd had this before at the Bodean's in Tooting and it blew my mind, thankfully it was just as good at this branch! I also ordered a side of creamed corn and corn bread, both were great. I knocked a star off because they weren't very attentive with the service. My friend & I both had a Scarlett O'Hara cocktail which dangerously just tasted like cranberry juice - we sat for a while after finishing our food and they could have got at least another 2 cocktails out of us if they'd asked if we wanted anything else!

Yelp
If you like meat then you'll be well looked after here! To really get the experience, skip breakfast to attempt their larger dishes! Ribs, Pulled Pork, Beef Brisket are highly recommended (not all in one sitting of course). Service is very quick. Be prepared to have a lie down after an epic eating session at Bodeans!

Yelp
Still the best place for a pulled pork sandwich and fries! However the portions are much smaller than they were before. Sign of the times I guess..... Staff are always cheerful and food is great

Yelp
I came here for a take-out lunch after being recommened by a friend and I'm afraid I wasn't all that impressed. There was a fair selection of food on the menu and although at first glance the prices look a little high, you do get A LOT for your money. I speant over half an hour in here just waiting to place an order and then waiting for my order to be made. They do offer a call and pik up service which I would suggest doing if you are coming here on your lunch break. As I mentioned previously, the volume of food is generous! The chicken wings I had were HUGE. However, on the downside the chicken wasn't cooked well enough for me (very pink) and there were still feathers on the skin which completely put me off. Although I personally doubt I'll come back Bodean's certainly ticks all the boxes for my BBQ meat loving friends.

Yelp
I have been here several times over the past couple of years and it remains a firm favourite. I recently went for lunch with my Dad and the place was packed to the brim. We kept it simple, ordering the Pulled Pork Bap which comes in a plastic basket with fries and mayo. The filling of soft, gooey, tender pork is incredibly generous and given the bargain price of £5.95 I don't know why anyone would consider a flacid burger from MaccyD's. This place has great atmosphere, speedy service and delicious meat. Highly recommended.

Yelp
A good Taste of Texas in London! The BBQ was as a good as your corner spot down the street in my hometown in Texas. The sides were yummy and the cornbread was moist and went well with the meal. I had the chicken and ribs and they were wonderful, chicken was moist and the ribs fell off the bone, what more could you ask for.

Yelp
It's hard for me to give this restaurant anything more than 3 stars, since I have to compare it with great bbq places I had the pleasure to visit over the years. Baby back ribs - dryer than I wanted them to be, especially on each end of the slab. Pulled pork - I like my pulled pork North Carolina style and this one wasn't exactly that. The meat wasn't as tender and didn't melt in my mouth. Mac and cheese - good and a good sized portion. Very mild and with a lot of sauce. Baked beans - with a higher acidity note. Not my favorite. Fries - very good. Small attention to detail would definitely improve their food quality.

Yelp
I can't believe I've yet to review Bodean's having been at least 5 or 6 times! I most recently visited early this week and as usual had great service and delicious food at a great price. I've actually tried something different each time I've been to make sure I really taste my way around the menu and I'm yet to have anything I haven't enjoyed (except maybe the cornbread, just give me more meat and/or cheese)! In no particular order I'd fully recommend the chilli cheese fries (definitely enough to share between two if ordering as a side to a main). The burnt ends and pulled pork are both delicious, particularly when topped with more of their BBQ sauce provided on each table. Their plain fries are seasoned perfectly and are utterly delicious. The pulled pork quesadilla makes a great lunch option as well as a starter, as it's fairly substantial. Oodles of gooey cheese, BBQ sauce and pulled pork in a crispy tortilla - what's not to love?! The Mac n Cheese as a side order is tasty, creamy and a really large portion. The pulled pork side is also generous (and delicious piled upon aforementioned Mac n Cheese). The key lime pie is a perfect balance of sweet and refreshing. Their coffee however, is a little bitter for me. One of the other great perks of Bodean's is the fact they offer FREE kids meals between 12-5pm every day (including weekends and bank holidays). For this reason alone I've pushed my review from 4 stars to 5! Only thing better than a good meal is a good meal with a great family incentive as eating out around London can be expensive.

Yelp
Total food porn, great if you're feeling a little delicate and need some meat to get you on your feet. Always a great go-to for hefty portions and at a really reasonable price for central London.

Yelp
The best BBQ in Europe! They have a wide selection of meats both wet and dry with all the sides! Service was really fast! The beer was super cold! I could not have asked for more out of a BBQ joint. This is a must when in London. The portions are also large as well for those who are annoyed with European portions. The place itself is not that large so you may want to call ahead about seating. If you don't, grab a beer and people watch while waiting. I'll go back for sure!

Yelp
Bodeans: Who knew there was a pork version of Nando's? This discreet little London bound chain needs taking nationwide. Pronto. Upstairs is a bench seating diner style for those quick stop pork pop in's, best for lunches. I did turn my nose up at the layout/decor as expected more from the outside as a pig shaped door knob greats you and entices you in. I was with a pro, there's a downstairs and we had booked. It was a Tuesday? Do you need to? Yes. Downstairs has a boutique kind of luxe New York vibe, complete with taxidermy heads and flat screens showing American sports (muted on non big game nights). Cocktails are lush, absolute must. Food. Let me just wipe dripping mouth. Delishhh pork in all forms and you can try them all with a combo meal. Pulled pork and burnt ends are all over the menu and with first taste its not hard to see why. Pure pork perfection. Ribs are meaty, dripping in sauce and plentiful. Steaks, sooo good but be warned medium rare always tends to be more on the rare side, which is fine because the plates are black, but I would keel over and die if they switched to white plates and blood became apparent. Service. Always friendly aka yank style. Love. Not many peeps know this BUT you can pre:order pulled pork, wings, ribs and steaks to take away and cook at home for your very own BBQ. This has to be done. You can also buy the sauces as well which aren't just bog standard BBQ shop brought shite. This is sooo reasonably priced and a must do for summer, just don't tell everyone.

Yelp
Hey to my American friends! Are you missing American-style protein and pro sports? Well, head straight down to Boedans to scatch that itch! I've sat in a few American sports bars on my U.S. holiday trips, soaking up the atmosphere and sucking up the food and this is a good place to get that vibe over this side of the pond. The menu is protein and carb heavy with BBQ being the main way of cooking. I like their pulled pork and a special treat are the burnt ends, which are only available on certain days of the week. For Brits, I also recommend trying the corn bread muffins and creamed corn, which are typical American side dishes that you can't find easily over here. There are multiple TVs showing American sports so it's worth positioning yourself at the appropriate table to catch the game you're interested in. I usually stagger out, feeling too full but that's all part of the American sports bar experience!

Yelp
My poor heart, what have you done to it Bodeans? It went from spick and span to an orgy of cholesterol, probably immediately after the first time. My poor mind, it went from clean living to a blunderbuss of pulled pork addiction, again probably immediately after the first time. My poor smile it went from a wry smile to a massive grin after the first time. Our version of American style BBQ? I think so! Sweet succulent meat falling off the bone, ribs - rubbed, marinated and soft, the chicken wings a delight, you can get a massive meal with a drink or two for under £20. It's in Soho, so lots options before or after but I would certainly come here with a very empty stomach. They have two areas; a more casual diner area (slightly longer opening hours and faster service) upstairs with long tables and a restaurant area downstairs which is harder to get to late in the evening. You can't book unless you're a large group but bizarrely you get a lot more for your money downstairs. Go there, but be careful you might not get back up the stairs. Why doesn't this get 5 stars? I couldn't get into the restaurant bit the last time!

Yelp
I went here the other day with some colleagues during a lunch break and it was totally worth the meat-fest that it was. Ordered a half portion of back back ribs, with fries and coleslaw and it was just wonderful. We all sat there in content silence after, just digesting. The others ordered burgers, which they proclaimed were equally if not more delectable. And the fries, were crunchy with substance. Service was a little slow at times, but understandably as it was Friday lunchtime and the poor staff were rushed off their feet. Plus, we paid with five cards and the lovely waitress patiently processed the order, card by card. We were sitting downstairs, so it was nice and cosy but my friend who has been here and sat upstairs, says they are more prompt there, as downstairs is for people who have more time and require table service. Really nice place, good food. Bring a big appetite, as you are guaranteed to be stuffed...
