The 26 Best Restaurants in San Juan, Puerto Rico - Eater

"This French bistro in Old San Juan is known for its weekend brunch, with mushroom and blue cheese quiche, but the dinner, too, lives up to the hype. Here, the classics are on offer, from duck confit to coq au vin to trout amandine, in a convivial atmosphere that will take you out of the touristic restaurant path just one block away." - Paulina Salach Antonetti, Alicia Kennedy

Google
absolutely incredible ambiance, food, and service. a relaxing and kind environment with bistro food that will blow your mind. could not recommend higher

Google
Homey lil bistro with great bites, good service, and well made drinks. Mussels were the star of the orders we made, but the baked goat cheese was a close second. Feel like all the appetizers and mains were spot on and I would have ordered more and skipped out on the desert here which wasn't on the same level of quality. Not docking a star for that though because the rest was so good

Great, great, GREAT service. Recommended every dish we had, and we were not disappointed. From the Goat Cheese and Crab cake appetizers to the Monk Fish Entrée, we couldn't have asked for much more. Absolutely give them a try and let the staff suggest some food options. You will not be disappointed!

Google
A local hangout. Owner is French. The food was delicious and our bartender was extremely personable and gracious. The city lost water and we happened to stumble into the place looking for lunch. What a find!!

Dined in for dinner and it was delicious! The crab cake appetizer was great. Had the quiche special for the main course and it was very rich and delicious!

An atmospheric and vibrant restaurant with delicious and fresh food. The chef’s dishes leave you feeling full but light. Ordered the salmon tartare, lamb shank, and creme brulee. Drank the most gorgeous espresso martini made by Nicolette, the awesome bartender.

Yelp
We were recommended this restaurant from the owners of Azalea next door. It was a great spot for our group of 8. We shared multiple bottles of wine at our table with our patient server. The dinner was very affordable at around $110 per couple in our group including tip and drinks. Unfortunately I didn't take any photos, we were too busy having a good time.

Yelp
Definitely a hidden gem, I met Brahim February 2023 and his more than life personality just captivates you. I wasn't able to visit the restaurant that trip I promised him I'd return, and very glad I did. Phenomenal food cozy atmosphere. Even with Brahim working hard in the kitchen he still finds time to come out and make sure everything is to his standards and everyone is satisfied. Definitely will visit many more times. See you soon Brahim

Yelp
Simply the best meal that we ate in Old San Juan. The restaurant is so comfortable, and fun, that even as a tourist it was easy to feel that it was our neighborhood restaurant. The food was so good that we went twice to try additional dishes, and to get one more chance to eat their astounding french fries. I would suggest, regardless of whether the are appropriate to your meal, that you order at least one order because they are that good. The food was great. We had the salad, the soup special (which was a beautiful, flavorful, potato leak), the steak frittes (enjoyed slightly more without the peppercorn sauce), the special trout (if there is a trout special, just order it), the salmon (one of the best things I have eaten in five years), and the chocolate cake. I would gladly eat each one again, and pare it with the small but excellently curated wine list. The service was amazing, and we enjoyed talking to our servers and learning about the restaurant, the neighborhood, and San Juan. We can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Great place! I've been here a few times. Each time it has been wonderful. Great for date night, great for groups. The speacials are always a good choice with a good wine pairing.

Yelp
We have lived in PR for 7 years and this is our go-to place to go. We love the laid back vibe, the food, the music and the staff. Always great, Bodega Chic is great for singles to hang out (bring a book). You can bring your dog. Your kids. Your family. Your date! Food is superb.

Yelp
This was one of my favorite restaurants when it first opened in 2006. The original owner reopened it a few weeks ago and I'm happy to say that it is great. Actually the new location to me is better. The food is amazing at a fair price. The portions are large, non of that portion control crap. Everything on the menu is worth trying. And the atmosphere is very relaxed. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
The rudest staff I have ever experienced. They didn't honor our reservation and they cussed us out.

Yelp
I had the worst brunch experience at Bodega Chic. Not only did I overhear them talking bad about me and my group because we did not confirm our reservation. When I let them know that we did in fact confirm and call to let them know we were on our way, they had a terrible attitude and proceeded to make us wait extra time for our table. once seated they ignored us and refused to answer our questions as it was not part of their 'process' instead the ignored us. We decided to leave before ordering and the waitress and bartender clapped us out, all the while swearing and yelling at us. A terrible and traumatic experience.

Yelp
The food was delicious, We had the swordfish special and it was done to a turn. Our meal was further enhanced by the staff, Nicolette and her other floor-half. The service was just right.

Yelp
They didn't seem to answer the phone or return calls when we called for reservations. However, we were able to just show up and get takeout. The staff was very friendly and solicitous and made us very comfortable while we waited. As for the food; it was quite good! We tried a goat cheese croustillant, a pesto caprese salad, a beef cheeks shepherds pie, and a wonderful pate. Everything hit the mark for us.

Yelp
Really obsessed with this place. The service is fantastic, and never have a bad meal. There are plenty of app/tapas options to share or make a few courses from. The shrimp and seaweed salad is one of the best things I've had in the city. The creative fusion and quality of the menu choices is outstanding. The atmosphere is very cool and trendy but relaxed with good music. Can't say enough good things about it.

Yelp
We came yesterday to this restaurant because it was the only place open in Old SJ for the tropical storm. Little did we know how good of an experience it would be. The salmon, chicken, and hanger steak were absolutely delicious. The server was fast, courteous, and diligent, despite how full the restaurant was. They had the ley seca in place yesterday because of the hurricane, but would love to come back for cocktails as well.

Yelp
This is by far the best food we ate in San Juan. Such an adorable place with fantastic service. Great atmosphere. Salmon tartar was awesome. Cous cous special was awesome. Prime rib, etc all awesome. We ended up here after being told that there was a 2 and a half hour wait down the street. Such a happy accident. Eat here!!!

Yelp
A genuine gem of a restaurant, I went with my boyfriend the other day, we were amazed by the simple and good taste decor, we order mojitos and of course medallas the local beer, then we got to see the menu and we began with the mussels provençal and french fries, then we decided to stay and eat more, my boyfriend got the salmon tapenade and it was incredible, I ate the hanger steak and it was cooked to perfection, we were very satisfied, but we couldn't resist eating the warm chocolate cake and we were in heaven, so we highly recommend this place, food over the top, service on point and great ambiance and music in the magical city of old San Juan, definitely a must go.

Yelp
Although we only came for drinks, the ambience made us want to stay and our bar maid, Gabrielle was a joy. Looking forward to visiting again soon for brunch.
