"While many visitors frequent the restaurants in Marquette’s historic downtown near the intersections of Front and Washington and the historic Landmark Inn, locals know to also hit the Third Street neighborhood, home to Bodega. It’s open all day, and the breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus start by thanking local farmers and fisheries, including Marquette’s own Thill’s & Sons Fish House. Breakfast is available all day, so this is the place for brunch." - Stacey Brugeman

Absolutely amazing! The food is so spectacular!! We absolutely loved being able to experience Bodega on our drive up to Houghton MI. The cocktails, mocktails, breakfast, lunch, and dinner options were so yummy, just absolutely 😋 wonderful and the food was worth the wait. Please order the cinnamon rolls to go with your coffee, you will love it. Additionally, the team was so amazing!!! They got us a high chair to use with our 14-months-old daughter and we got an extra free espresso in my coffee! They are so great with kids. Diaper changing table available in the women's restroom! Bonus points for the positive vibes and many many beautifully healthy live plants including a gorgeous pothos plant that went all across the ceiling and down our lamp at our table. Love this place, we will definitely be there again.

Nice restaurant in the DT area. Parking lot on the side as well as street parking. I sat at the bar, no wait. The tables that where available where reserved for larger groups. Good menu choices. Has a full bar & coffee service. Breakfast and lunch menus served.

The vibe in this place is AMAZING! Cozy but open and not crammed feeling; a full bar on a lower section, tabled seating available near the host station, and more tabled seating with several booths available in another section. Very well laid out and welcoming! Gives warm cafe vibes that can easily transition to clean eclectic bar in the evening. The menu has seen some significant price increases since other photos were added to google reviews so I am attaching the updated menu. I was greeted immediately when I arrived by a smiling gentleman and was seated right away. Within a few minutes a friendly server came by bringing water and took my order (I came knowing what I would order). Ordered the one egg with buiscuits and gravy with the Cajun seasoning on the home fries. It came out very quickly. The home fries were perfect. The gravy was unique in flavor, but disappointingly thin and there wasn’t much there. I ate the top layer of the biscuits with the gravy and then it was gone. The biscuits weren’t my favorite BUT I can see how people love them. They are drop biscuits that are fluffy and reminded me a lot of the biscuits served around Red Lobster. My egg was an egg. :) I would have liked to order more gravy for my meal, but unfortunately after my food was delivered my service stopped. I was served water in a tiny cup that was never refilled and was nearly empty when my food arrived. 20 minutes after I stopped eating because I was out of water, I finally got up and poured my own water from the pitcher at the host station. The server had walked by several times, bussed empty tables, asked her other tables multiple times if they needed anything, but I was not able to get her attention. By the time she DID come to my table I asked for a check and was a little over my visit—no point in continuing to eat cold food. Could have EASILY been a 5 star review if the service was improved. In fairness, it looks like she and one other person were the only servers for the whole place, but that’s certainly a staffing problem—not necessarily hers. It’s Saturday, please schedule more servers to accommodate your customer flow. There were numerous empty tables in the place.

Delicious breakfast. Was able to spend a relaxing time visiting with family while waiting for the chefs to prepare an exceptional breakfast for my family. Everything served was delicious. Had breakfast tacos with fresh made Guacamole. Soo yummy. Nice variety on the menu. The waitresses are so pleasant and friendly. Thank you for a delicious delightful breakfast.

An amazing, fun, tasty and super friendly staff! Amazing local food! Because Marquette!

Google
This place had wait and it was well worth the wait. Our waitress was really friendly and the food all came out warm. My boyfriend got the Special Oven Baked Finnish pancakes. We’ve never had anything like that before. The portion wasn’t huge but the pancake itself was dense and very filling. Homemade blueberry compote and whipped cream went perfect with it. I got the Zorro Breakfast burrito with Cajun spiced potatoes. The burrito was the best breakfast burrito I’ve ever had. It was so good. The potatoes were also great but more greasy than I would have liked.

Okay, there is something weird about Bodega that comes across as pretentious but they actually make really good HOMEMADE food. Maybe it's because they use pretty decent ingredients and the portions are actually normal sized... Price point can seem a bit jarring but if you think about the time involved in all their homemade bread and products, it's pretty legit. Service is almost 5 stars...Have had multiple experiences where its a shuffle along to make way for the next person. Overall, very good food but for the service to food price point can feel lacking. (Photos: Biscuits and gravy *get an extra side of gravy!* and spicy chicken melt)

Google
Very slow food service. Disappointed with house salad consisting of a handful of frizee lettuce and a few veges. Had to ask for bread and butter too. Ordered it with whitefish and that was just a slab of cold bland fish. Coffee refills were plentiful but when asked about iced tea refill and answered yes no one ever came back with glass and refill. Ranch dressing was tasty.

Yelp
I've heard from all the restaurants in town that I need to have Bodega for breakfast. I had high hopes when other concepts are telling me the same thing. You walk in and it's a very calming vibe with the decorations and the natural light from outside. There were holiday decorations that give extra bonus points in my book. The server was very friendly and helped navigate through the menu on his favorite items and pinpointing what I'd like. I got the huevos rancheros, and loved it. The corn tortillas are delicious, had a good bite to them, and the sauce had great flavor. I enjoyed the layers of tortillas and beans and it was very filling. I did sneak in a few bites of their blueberry pancakes from a friend and also loved it. It had a large portion of fresh blueberries.

Yelp
We waited over an hour and 15 minutes for our food!!! The server did not attend to us during that time and when finally waved her over to ask what was going on she was short with us! The ambiance is lovely although it is loud. The food was mediocre. We had the whitefish which was plain despite getting a pesto sauce. The beef we got was tough. The vegetables were 1/2 over cooked zucchini and 1/2 undercooked, carrots. The side for both dishes was brown rice which is a lazy choice there should be potatoes of some kind.

Krissy B.

Yelp
I have followed Cafe Bodega on IG for a long time, I was finally able to check it out. The food and service were both amazing. I had the Barrio Bloody Mary, made with jalapeño infused tequila, it was fabulous. For food I had the breakfast burrito, with chorizo. The chorizo had the right amount of spice and wasn't too greasy. I'll will definitely be back the next time I am in Marquette.

Emily S.

Yelp
I had been wanting to come to Bodega for a while, and finally the stars aligned. I got the huevos rancheros. I wasn't thrilled about the portion for the price, but my meal was surprisingly filling. Our server was nice, though a bit slow on drink refills. I will probably be back to try more of the menu.

Christina E.

Yelp
We were told that this restaurant had the best burgers in town. Absolutely not! We ordered 3 different burgers with 3 different cooked levels and they all came back well done and not seasoned at all. The chips were these horrible multi-grain tortilla chips. The fries were fine, but not good enough to make it a $20 meal. Not to mention the ranch sauce tasted more like dill sauce. If you have tastebuds I wouldn't recommend.

Kirsten E.

Yelp
Ambiance was so pretty and relaxing. The staff were so nice and we could tell that they were fun, kind people. Our food did take a hot minute but I wasn't bothered. Organic lemonade and the bodega back was top tier. My sister didn't love her hogback tacos, but she's also kind of a hater (plus she ate them). Everyone else enjoyed their food!

Evelyn A.

Yelp
We ordered a burger w/ fries and a club sandwich w/ fries. The burger and sandwich were very tasty. My brother ordered lemonade and said it wasn't very good nor were the fries. Ambiance is relaxed and service was great.

Brian K.

Yelp
Food was pretty good. Creative menu. POOR service. I wish I had reviewed the reviews before we went - seems like the service is pretty consistently uneven.

Mary Denise C.

Yelp
Had lunch here today. What a great time. The server was great. Attentive. Food was very good. The Turkey cheddar cranberry is good but I switched up to goat cheese. It was terrific! The goat cheese was calling my name. I loved it that way. There was also a cup of the soup. It was Italian vegetable. Lots of vegetables, but didn't taste any Italian chef. Add some pesto! Atmosphere is always good.

Amber L.

Yelp
I was recently in town for the Memorial Day weekend and had to check out Café Bodega! How did we end up there? I saw it on the way to the house we rented and it looked like a cool place from the outside but we wanted a Bloody Mary. They have a vegan one! That worked great for our group so we headed over. The restaurant wasn't very busy for a Sunday brunch time, but we learned they were short staffed so there was a wait for a table. Our group decided to sit at the bar and were seated right away. Their bloody mix is made from scratch (fresh juices) and comes with pickled veggies as the garnish. I thought it was pretty good and the veggies made it a small snack. We also ordered some food including the fries (hand cut and yummy) which came with a choice if dipping sauce. We tried the jalapeno sour cream. The whitefish cakes were pretty tasty as well, it came with 3 decent sized cakes, greens and a sauce. A good size for a meal or to share. Lastly, we got the vegetarian nachos which in my picture may appear dry or burnt, but let me tell you, they were layered with tons of cheese which you see once you dig in. Very good nachos! The sides like Pico and beans were tiny for the portion but still good. All of the menu items are served all day, every day (with the exception of entrees) and certain things on the menu. They use local food and house made bread, plenty of vegan, veg or meat options. The staff was friendly, they also have a cute little merchandise area with local products and their branded items like stickers, coozies, hats, etc. I highly recommend Café Bodega if you are in the area!

Yelp
The atmosphere is great - cozy and cute- and it is obvious this is a beloved restaurant with locals. Our experience as tourists was just average. When we walked in, it was a good five minutes before we were greeted or given acknowledgement that we were standing there by the hostess station even though three staff members were an arm length away having a discussion. We were told the empty tables were reserved, so we sat at the bar. Later we were offered a table - seems several groups didn't show. The menu does warns patrons by thanking them in advance for their patience since everything is made from scratch - but the wait after we ordered was beyond excessive. After we had been waiting 40 minutes, I mentioned to the wait staff in a very kind way that I wondered how are order was coming along. She said, "We just don't throw things on the grill here." That being said, they do throw things in the deep fryer because the Brussels sprouts on our chopped salad were black and burnt. The rest of the food was just average at best. My daughter who is a marathon runner and typically a good eater, didn't even care to finish her breakfast burrito. My Cuban sandwich was on thin white toasted bread and mustard, mayo and Swiss cheese typically on a cuban didn't seem to be there. Plus, the pickles inside were of the sweet variety which was a jarring experience when one is expecting some sourness to cut through the pork and ham. I can't in good conscience recommend this place unless you have a lot of time to enjoy the ambience. Even if every dish is cooked right then, to order - some things could be prepped ahead of time.

Marley A.

Yelp
I get the wait - good food is worth it. However, this was not. Overpriced. I got the pancakes with blueberries and sausage, he got a burger and fries to go and off we went to the waterfront. Open the bag and what's this? No silverware or napkins, no butter nor syrup, no ketchup, the horror. So off we go to try and catch them before they close. Before you say "shoulda ordered earlier", it had been over an hour since we ordered. They tossed us two forks, two butters and a small thing of syrup. At this point we said f it, let's go eat. The burger was bone dry with wilted lettuce on the side, no cheese. We ended up at Krist food to grab some ketchup. The pancakes were good, I'll give them that. The sausage patty however was a crime. Hard as a rock and tasted like a dry unseasoned patty made of ground beef. I now know I gotta check the bag even if it's not fast food. ETA: Not a fake account, I've got two of them and signed in under the unused account.

Yelp
Foodie heaven. Great vegetarian selection. Relaxing atmosphere. Perfect spot for brunch.

Samiah L.

Yelp
The food was great and I love that it's organic! The service was overall really good and our server was so nice. They had super cute merch and the restaurant itself was so cozy and unique to Marquette which was so cool. I bought a crew neck and they had very reasonable prices. It was my first time at cafe bodega and I will definitely be going again!!

Frederick R.

Yelp
Great experience here tonight. Food was delicious! Got a Caesar salad and a huevos rancheros (breakfast all day). Big menu, locally grown food, check it out!

Julianne H.

Yelp
I went here 2 days in a row it was so good. I got the chili (with meat) - absolutely amazing. Sunrise tacos for breakfast. Definitely get the potatoes Cajun style. The best part of the restaurant is that it's made from scratch and you feel really good after you eat it. I wish more restaurants were like café bodega..

Roger B.

Yelp
Outstanding food! Recommend the raisin toast. Neat area of town to explore around the restaurant as well.

Delanie M.

Yelp
so I had high hopes for this place forsure... maybe too high? I ordered the breakfast burrito and curry potatoes and my boyfriend ordered the biscuits and gravy with salt and pepper potatoes and the white fish soup. My burrito was just okay... it was very dry and lacking flavor... some salsa or guac would have saved the day forsure. the hot sauce helped but you can only use so much without catching your mouth on fire. i ordered without cheese so maybe that would have helped with the flavor and lack of moisture but I have had great breakfast burritos without... the curry potatoes were good but i wish there was more curry.. they left me wanting more. I also had to heavily salt everything. The biscuits and gravy LOOKED phenomenal but my boyfriend didn't seem to care for them too much. he orders biscuits and gravy almost everywhere we go and these definitely weren't the best. I tried a small piece of the biscuit without the gravy and it was very dry.... which i understand it's a biscuit but i expect some level of buttery flavor. he did say the gravy was pretty good though. his soup was weirdly sweet but probably the item he liked the most. maybe next time i'd try the huevos rancheros!

Larry S.

Yelp
First off, there are signs throughout telling you it will take awhile to receive your food and the staff will also make it rather clear. So if you are not up to waiting 45 minutes, this isn't the place for you. I knew Bodega previously as The Sweetwater Cafe. The menu and recipes are almost the same. Staff was friendly. I was expecting a wait and was pleasantly surprised that my biscuits/gravy with extra eggs on top and Cajun spiced potatoes arrived quicker than expected. Delicious! If you are patient, it's worth the wait IMO.

Tara H.

Yelp
Sat for over 30 minutes after ordering a set of tacos for my husband and I to share that never came. Other tables around us were audibly wondering where their food could be also.

Emily B.

Yelp
Very fast and friendly service. We were seated right away and had our drinks in a matter of minutes. The menu is unique and everything is fresh made so patience needed. It was delicious. The restaurant has a very nice feel it's spread out and doesn't feel crowded.

Laura H.

Yelp
We spent the night in Marquette and ate here in the morning. It had a wonderful atmosphere and our server was amazing! My husband ordered the Ranchos dish and I ordered the biscuits and gravy with a side of French toast and green tea. The dishes all tasted GREAT. So glad we stopped in and enjoyed a snowy morning in this awesome cafe!

Ashley H.

Yelp
We ordered a total of 6 meals. 3 were made incorrect. Chicken Ceaser Salad - no chicken Ginger Stir Fry with Chicken - no chicken Ham, cheese and mayo sandwich - no mayo When I went in to get my money back. They only offered to make me grilled chicken to go. Never going back!

James M.

Yelp
Pulled into Café Bodega on a rainy Thursday morning and was greeted by an amazing aroma. The service came with a smile from everyone. The curry potatoes with my meal were totally on point and the portion size was enough to fill without stuffing. Definitely recommend

Richard K.

Yelp
It isn't crowded - total of 4 other people with 7 empty tables in our area. Also why wouldn't they let us have an reservation later than 6:30? Nobody's here. I guess everybody else knows and doesn't come here.

Kirs M.

Yelp
I can not say enough wonderful things about this restaurant. The food was excellent! Everything is homemade and takes a little longer, but that is part of its charm. The waitress checked on us several times while we were waiting. The building is located in an old school building. While you are waiting for the food, check out their little shop located right in the restaurant. Take a few moments to really take in the atmosphere and some of the hidden architectural gems.

Blake Y.

Yelp
This is my 2nd time here and this place never disappoints, fresh & delicious food. The staff is friendly and helpful. ALWAYS get the potatoes!

Joe R.

Yelp
We came here for breakfast and it was very good. We both had the Huevos Rancheros, one with rice and one with chorizo. The add ons are worth it worth either way.

Marissa M.

Yelp
Café Bodega was one of the best places my friend and I stopped in our roadtrip around Michigan. Our waitress (also named Marissa!) was so sweet and extremely helpful with the menu. The food was fantastic, and you can tell the ingredients were really fresh and well prepared. I'm glad I followed a friend of a friend's suggestion to eat here instead of Yelp reviews. I would have been very sad to miss out on this great spot!

Robert M.

Yelp
Came in for brunch this Sunday at 12:00. The restaurant was less than half full. The hostess said it would be at least a 30 minute wait. The party before us must have heard the same thing because they left. It seemed very chaotic. The owners need to step in as they are losing money and business. Too bad as the food did look good.

Michael W.

Yelp
Step one: order the biscuits and gravy Step two: eat the biscuits and gravy Step three: come back here and thank me Step four: go listen to Mr. finish line by Vulfpeck, because that's a dope song

Michelle P.

Yelp
Hubby & I were in marquette for our anniversary trip. This place was AMAZING. Seated right away the two times we went over the weekend. Portion sizes are generous. The breakfast potatoes are SUPER YUMMY! I enjoyed the breakfast sandwich (both days). Hubby had the breakfast burrito one day and French toast the next. Real maple syrup. I enjoyed a mimosa with breakfast both days (think it was heavy on the OJ, lol). but, very tasty. Hubby had a blackrocks beer. Service both days was good. Seating was spaced well for covid. We were pleasantly surprised at how many people were wearing masks. If/when we return to marquette, we'll be back.

Krista G.

Yelp
We came here for breakfast while vacationing. The Bloody Mary was delicious. We had good service. The toast tasted fresh baked. I had a breakfast quesadilla with the jalapeño sour cream , which had a nice fresh taste. Coffee cups were a little small as I usually like a lot of coffee in the morning. Overall, good experience!

Ashley S.

Yelp
Huevos Rancheros with chorizo was good! The Bloody Mary house mix was refreshing and light, not your typical mix. The house vegetables that came with it were great!

Rob S.

Yelp
Favorite brunch spot in town! Lots of gluten free options and so much on the menu to explore. Local, fresh ingredients and all made from scratch, which levels up the quality, obvs. Especially love the huevos rancheros, orbit pesto sandwich, and the build your own omelettes (especially feta/pesto/mushroom). Their pesto is out of this world! Also, I want to try everything on the menu!

Ruth S.

Yelp
Service was attentive and food was fresh and yummy! Cool art, too! We'll be back!French Toast

Patricia B.

Yelp
Got served a watered down espresso drink. I can deal with that. But I've now. Even sitting here for 60 + minutes waiting for breakfast for two. When we asked about our food we were told "it sometimes takes this long" No thank you. Won't be back, Bodega.

Emily M.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed breakfast here this weekend! We were a party of 6, and they had no problem seating us. The coffee was strong, flavorful, and always full. The menu was divine - I wanted to try a few options but ended up with the huevos rancheros. It was so good! For one, they actually cooked my eggs over medium! Furthermore, they didn't skimp on the sauce and the plate was filling and well-prepared. Other items tried were: pancakes (fluffy), breakfast burrito (wasn't overly stuffed), and french toast. Everyone seemed to clean their plates and enjoy their meals!

Jaime B.

Yelp
Loved everything. Would recommend. Great variety of a good food and drinks. Loved that they had vegan and vegetarian options too.

Tiffany P.

Yelp
An employee at Babycakes recommended this place to us. Lots of gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options. I had the Ginger Stir-fry with chicken. The sauce was out-of this-world. Thing 1 enjoyed the Whitefish Tacos; she said, and I quote, "this is scrum-diddly-umptious." Thing 2 polished off the Pesto Grilled Cheese. Together, they intended to split the Breakfast Quesadilla; however the tortilla ended up being flour (I swear I checked the GF box), so most of it ended up in the trash. I loved that I could order online and Apple Pay. The wait was estimated at 30 minutes (#slow foodmovement) and it was curbside delivered in about 35. We ate it in the parking lot of Marquette Commons because we were hangry, and because that's normal now. If I could have one wish, it would be that the carryout packaging mirrored the sustainability messaging on their website.

Natashia K.

Yelp
Super cute cafe with warm and friendly service. The food was delicious, I recommend the Huevos Rancheros!! They happily accommodated my partner with a vegan breakfast veggie, potato and pesto dish that was super tasty. The overall atmosphere is very nice, I love all of the artwork and plants!!

Suzee S.

Yelp
We really enjoyed this restaurant. The food was flavorful and service was great. I had a vegan burrito with curry seasoned potatoes and my husband had the plant burger. Our server, Buck, was really excellent. We will be back for sure

Isaac A.

Yelp
We stopped in here passing through town after quite a few recommendations from colleagues. I ordered a burger and it was full of flavor: one of the best burgers I'd had in a long time. I even ate the avocado and I'm not a fan of it. Most everyone else had breakfast and the kids devoured everything. We even had to order an extra side of sausage to go because the kids loved it so much (it tasted like a normal patty to me, but the kids destroyed it). I will definitely return, maybe for tacos, next time I find myself in the area. I did feel the service was slow, but the food was so good I overlooked it.

Ariane S.

Yelp
Gluten Free & Vegan options! Almost the entire menu is Gluten Free! Make sure you specify when ya order, eh. This was amazing: Caesar Salad with Whitefish (ordered GF - no croutons). Romaine, tomatoes, lemon wedges, & legit Caesar dressing (not the mayo crud). This was awesome: Orbit Pesto sandwich (ordered it GF - delicious!). House made lentil grain patty, pesto, tomato, baby greens, Swiss & Thai garlic dressing. Friendly service. Chill atmosphere.

Morgan C.

Yelp
Super yummy. Just takes an little longer to get food because everything is made from scratch, which is so worth it. We ordered the club sandwich and got a side of honey thyme Mayo (which you need to get a side of AMAZING) and an omelette and breakfast burrito. Everything was hot, fresh and yummy. Would definitely come back & our server was super nice!!!!

Dilpreet J.

Yelp
Our server Maria was the sweetest and most kind! The food was divine and so flavorful , the cocktails were really yummy too, I got the sunrise mimosa and my boyfriend got the jalapeño pineapple mojito. Both were so good! The wait wasn't bad at all either especially since there are areas to walk around outside. Not sure why this place only has 3.5 stars, definitely is inaccurate for overall experience. I will be coming back next time in Marquette!!!

Amber L.

Yelp
Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. This was the first restaurant that I had personally been in since March of 2020 and I'm so glad it was here! We were in town for a short winter break and really liked the food offerings and overall backstory that Bodega had online so we decided to check them out. They put right on their menu that things might take a little longer to reach your table as they prepare everything from scratch, but we seriously could not tell the difference from any other restaurant we've been in. Their bodega fries with Thai garlic dipping sauce are an absolute must if you like thick home cut fries with something other than ketchup. For my main meal I tried their bodega mac which was such a large portion that I had to take some with me and I was able to give my sister some too. It had a nice contrast between fresh and cooked vegetables and a healthy dose of cheese. Be sure to check out their sticker offerings when you go!

Gary S.

Yelp
Definitely the best breakfast in town the potatoes are great but even better is the house made jelly for the toast.

M B.

Yelp
We had a wonderful breakfast here. Server was very friendly. My wife enjoyed the biscuits and gravy.
