I was with a group of people celebrating one person that we all knew, but did not know everyone within the group.
First the prices for all alcoholic drinks were definitely gouging anyone who ordered one. I ordered from the bar waiting for others to arrive. 4 alcoholic drinks, 1 Bloody Mary, 2 vodka Red Bull and 1 tequila Red Bull, only 1can of Red Bull was used for 3 drinks, along with the Bloody Mary in a medium size glass. The bill for these 4 drinks was $62.00 plus a $5.00 tip!!
I have never been in any establishment that only would accept one credit or debit card for a group of people, celebrating one person they all knew, but did not know each other. The bill for this brunch celebration was over $800.00, that you would only allow one credit card be used for the entire group!!
Needless to say he was stiffed by most of the people there for the birthday brunch celebration, because he was nice enough to pay!! This is a young father of 3 children who should never had to pay for people he never met before!! This is a practice that never should have been a rule!!
I got all of my drinks directly from the bar and paid as I got them. But the last drink I got was a Bloody Mary. I was told it was $13.50 at first, then the bartender came back and said it was now $15.50. I could not believe what I paid $62.00 for 4 drinks, but to come back and tell me the price had changed to $15.50, was so outrageous, I definitely knew your establishment was price gouging it's customers!!
I know everyone thinks that Mount Pleasant is an uppity rich community, but most of the LOCALS ARE NOT RICH, but just lucky to have been born here!! To price your menu and drinks so high, most of the original locals cannot afford to enjoy your establishment, I am one of those locals, that will never visit your establishment again!
I also will tell all of my friends that you gouge people and even change prices in the middle of a transaction!! You are not the only establishment opened by someone from the North or bought an established restaurant and made really terrible changes to the menu and prices.
You had a very busy Sunday morning brunch, because of all the visitors in town for the Bridge Run. With the summer season ahead, you might get more out of town customers, but I can tell you that you need to make some changes to attract the locals, who love Okra Grill, I-Hop, or McDonalds for decent prices and great Southern Food, like GRITS!! It is what most of us locals were raised on!!
It was also chilly that morning, but you did not turn on the heater on the porch until people were getting ready to leave. Nice to think about it when the it was at the end of the celebration.
