The Best Restaurants In Oxford - Oxford - The Infatuation

"You know those times when you’re craving a kebab at 2am on a Monday night? Yeah, neither do we. But Bodrum—a lively Turkish spot on Cowley Road—is here just in case. Open until 3am during the week, and even later on weekends, this Oxford staple is where you’ll see the early morning party crew, with a mix of students shouting “DONER KEBAB AND CHIPS PLEASE” and old-school friends running into each other in the tight dining room out back. Despite the late-nightedness of it all, the chicken shish and the beef doner is actually pretty solid—and the plate of chilli and garlic sauce on the side is a very nice touch. Get the Bodrum special with chips and you’ll leave satisfied, whether it’s 1pm or 1am." - rianne shlebak

Ok food, great atmosphere & amazing service. Not many seats, I think you can book and hold a table, but we got there early evening and was fine for a table, by 6.30/7pm place was packed. Food is good but they load up on carbs and less meat. Place was 3/4 rice and a lil meat, for the prices I would defo want more meat. We paid £11.95 for 8 wings!!! VERY pricey. Would have given 4 stars if meat portions were bigger. I ordered the big bodrum platter & you can see from the picture it’s basically one of each piece of meat but costs £17!!! Not worth it. Go for a donner kebab or a donner meat and chips.

Love eating here when visiting venues in Cowley rd. The staff are friendly, very reasonably priced, portions are generous. A starter with bread is provided on arrival and tea and baklava afterwards without any extra charge! The atmosphere is vibrant. Definitely worth a visit 😁

Overall, for me, it's the food that tastes spot-on and has reasonable prices compared to other restaurants on that road. If you want that local, traditional feel in your food, you've got it all in one place. Yes, the décor is not updated, and the service isn't like your normal restaurant, but these people work super long hours to serve you up good, tasty dishes. For me, I love this place because it has that busy, bustling feel to it. The chicken shish, marinated and served with rice, salad, bread, and their special warm sauce for dipping, is delicious.

Google
Absolutely love this restaurant, been coming here to eat for the last 10 years. They always serve great quality food at very reasonable prices. The baklava is still the best I eaten in England. It's a down to earth cafe style restaurant, quick and friendly service . Great choice menu which includes photos. Hope it continues to prosper.

Google
lovely food. Dont get me started on the bread. Its the best item on the menu. the chiken donner plate is amazing and the hospitality is also amazing. Brining out more bread and sauce when needed, free baklava after meals done and brings chai out, love this place

Google
Long story short!!! Just go the one to the right called 'Anterp’! Guaranteed good food! Fabulous experience at this fabulous place, walking into this place with high expectations which is later proven to be the stupidest idea ever. Led to an uncleaned table with rice sitting on it, we asked the waiter to clean it, my man is so well trained that he wiped the rice right onto my chair. 40 minutes after ordering the most ‘cost efficient’ quarter pounder which is just Tesco bread, Tesco meat patty, and Tesco slice cheese,it finally came and this homeless burger cost me £6.50. The lamb chops I ordered was shown in the picture, 4 pieces of lamb, the same size of my finger nails and rice(eaten a bit) cost me £12.90??? Once they served the lamb,I regretted saying the burger is the most cost efficient dish, the lamb just nail the prize👍

As we've been there before and that was ok, we invited our friends to have dinner. When a friend was finishing her meal she spotted a hair on her plate. We showed it to a waiter, he took the plate away, came back and said 'Sorry!'. Then, when we were paying at the till we explained the situation and told that they should take that dish off the bill. The chef started shouting at us telling that if there was a hair, it would burn down on charcoal while kebab is roasting (by the way, none of the staff wore caps). He refused to consider that there were salad and chips on the plate. And he said that the waiter doesn't speak English and we had to show the hair to him. He was rude and treated us as we were tricking them just to pay a few quid less. We felt very upset and ashamed in front of our friends for inviting to that place. That was definitely the last our visit to that restaurant.(((

They served lamb shank that had clearly gone bad. I told them about it and did not eat it. The manager kept arguing that it was perfectly cooked and Turkish delight. They did not even bother asking me to not pay although I did not eat anything. So I paid the full amount for tasting the meat that had gone bad. Please do not go here to waste your money and be treated badly.

Yelp
This is easily the best Turkish restaurant in Oxford, and the best Kebab place in the town too. Although it can fulfill the needs of the average kebab seeker, it really does come into its own as a restaurant. In fact, somehow it manages to avoid all the late-night drunk student/lager lout crowd. They don't belong here, it's just too classy. The staff deliver generous portions, and free warm Turkish bread for starters, which is always welcome. The service is unbelievably good, friendly, and it's run by people who really do have passion for their cuisine, and are eager to leave every customer satisfied. If you ask them, they'll even bring you Turkish tea afterwards, although it would be nice if it was served in small Turkish glasses rather than over-sized Coffee cups. I highly recommend Cowley Road's legendary Bodrum Kebab restaurant!

Yelp
The worst kebab I have ever eaten. I hope I don't get food poisoning. Lamb was dry and over cooked, and the pita was falling to pieces. God knows why the place was busy.

Yelp
when i used to work at a bar in downtown oxford, i would get off work at 3am starving. the only thing open at this time at night was bodrum. im not saying that i would only visit out of desperation, as it is actually an extremely friendly establishment. in the kind of business where speed it key, alot of place sacrfice customer services for customers served. bodrum always greets you with a smile and a wave and their food is always fresh and a spotless resturant. the food is standard, but do what they do well....and in a kebab house..isnt that all you ask?

Yelp
One of the nicest Kebab places in Oxford, the owners are actually Turkish and this is reflected in the menu. The food is perhaps slightly less spicy than the other restaurants on Cowley Road. Most options come with salad and you have the choice of chips or rice for the health conscious. Prices are reasonable and service is quick, though there is limited seating

Yelp
The place has just ok food and service. Was largely unimpressed by the meal I ordered and even more perplexed by the 50 pent extra charge for using my debit card.

Yelp
I don't know why previous customer didn't like this place, this is the only place for proper kebabs in town! Open till late most days so perfect place to come for a bite to eat after clubs or whatever.

Yelp
The best kebabs (shish and chicken go down best with my family - my children eat them) in Oxford, and have been for ages. Their veggie stuff is also superb - love their houmous and falafel, and I believe there is a veggie kebab thing made from aubergine but I've not managed to give up my houmous/falafel habit yet. Chips are proper sized, not french fries, and service is good and friendly. And do not miss the baklava. it is superb.

Yelp
bodrums is mad crazy for the chicken, salad fingerz the dude, if you aint got no papes they sort you a greazy box of chicken for shrapnel. My homie who dj's and working their once gave me a mix cd with no music on it, thats real road playa. They even got one chick workin in there, i got told Bordum is in Turkey, and they like to gobble, nah mean?!

Yelp
Best kebab I've had, and i've tried alot. Good choice and quality, my friends and I will regularly pass many other kebab shops in favour of Bodrums. I'm looking forward to eating in at their new restaurant near the city centre
