"Owners Dusanka and Ermin Kurtigac opened this cafe and tiny grocery store after arriving in town in the aftermath of the dissolution of Yugoslavia and war in the Balkans. They serve an array of hearty, straightforward sandwiches on house-made bread and you can’t go wrong with their beef goulash. Pick up a bottle of Eastern European wine, a jar of ajvar red pepper spread, and tins of pate from the grocery aisles before settling your bill." - Scott Ki, Scott Wink

I really wanted to like it. I was excited to try Bosnian food. However when I asked what they had that was Bosnian, he said they were just serving paninis. I got the specialty one and it was good my husband and I split one. My kids got grilled cheese. Our sandwich was $10 and my kids each had a half grilled cheese. So for 2 grilled cheese and a sandwich it came to $38 which I was a little confused about. He brought out water for us with lemon which was a nice touch but the water wasn't cold. It was lukewarm. The server was very kind and friendly. It just wasn't what I was expecting. The seating area is kind of dark with wine set up and a bar. The tvs were showing MTV music videos from the early 2000s. We really like some chocolate we bought at the little store. The bathroom was unique. There is a stall with a toilet and then another toilet by the sink.

We came by for lunch before hitting the alleys at Emerald Lanes. The food here is super affordable overall. All of our sandwiches were absolutely delicious! The service was very fast as well. After your meal, make sure to browse the store for unique drinks, candy, and more. Skip the bowling alley fried foods and come here, you won't regret it.

We ordered a German sausage and a Panini House. Both came with a small milk chocolate on the side, and a bag of Lay's chips. A simple yet delicious lunch at very fair prices and just what we needed on this hot Boise day. I finished the meal with Turkish coffee. You may buy something else to drink at the market that is attached to the front. The service was pleasant and we will be sure to return when in the area.

It's a small place run by a really nice and respectful old Italian(I think sorry if I'm wrong) man. The service is fast and reliable if a little hard with the language barrier but it is more than worth it for the quality and price of the food. He even puts chocolates with the food for any kids. 10/10 place to eat

It's a hole in the wall, and you get hole-in-the-wall service. Super nice Waiter/bartender, But the language barrier was tough. Didn't get the right food to come out. That said the food we got was great. It's kind of like an open meeting room that people threw chairs into, and there's a slideshow going on, and a bar also in the same area. You Also enter through a mini Mart of foreign foods. I actually love that part. If you're into a good meal, and not too fancy this is a great place.

DINING: The server got me a glass of water very quickly and showed me the menu. I ordered the Prosciutto panni it was FANTASTIC and came with a bag of Lays potato chips. for only $9.50. I couldn't believe it. I went solo on a Friday around 1:30 p.m. There was only one other customer there who was just wrapping up his meal. I'd be lying if I didn't say I almost turned around and went somewhere else. But I had been wanting to try this place to I committed and grabbed a seat at the bar. Most of the menu is panni's, Which I am not sure if are a traditional Bosnian or Balkan food item but were very good. They did have some other items like Gyros and Goulash. Also seemed to offer Balkan beer and wine. Service was fantastic and very friendly. While I was eating I may had been only person in dining room but a few people did come in to the little Balkan super market in front of restaurant. So I decided to check it out after eating. Warning though, the day I was there the same gentleman ran the store, was also the server. So might have to be patient at times if it is busy I would imagine. STORE: The store has lots of unique items. Most I have never heard of. But I ended up picking out a box of sweets and asking the man for some wine suggestions. He went and showed me all the wine they sell. I told him I was traveling to Croatia this year and would like to try a Plavac Mali variety. He also recommended I also try the Baibc next time I' m there, so I just decided I would buy the bottle as well. From what i could tell he had wine from all parts of Croatia (Slavonia, Istria, Dalmatia and the islands), Serbia, Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro. Probably has more as well. Highly recommend! I got lunch, 2 bottles of wine and a box of sweets for just about $70 after tax.
