The Best Restaurants in Boulder, Colorado | Eater Denver

"Run by a Czech native, this pub boasts the quaint atmosphere of an Old World bierhalle and a Central European menu to match. Pierogies and pretzels, spaetzle and sausages, schnitzel and strudel — it’s all here, and so are the pints of pilsner and hefeweizen to wash it down. Good times are guaranteed." - Ruth Tobias

Incredible experience. We live in Houston and it’s wonderful to see a well-oiled machine such as this restaurant. It was graduation week for CU and the staff, kitchen, management, and hosts were all 100 on point. Peter was an attentive server and Collin, the assistant GM was one of the most helpful staff members I’ve ever encountered. Moved mountains to get us a more accommodating reservation slot. Big ups to Bohemian Biergarten.

Google
I couldn’t ask for a better cozy evening. The restaurant offers seating options at their bar, high top tables, long communal tables with benches, and patio seating in warmer months. The space was lively with smiling faces and never loud to the point that we couldn’t have a conversation. Rachel took great care of us, as did the rest of the staff. Our meals came out quickly and each dish was better than expected, especially the Jager Schnitzel. It’s a given, but the beer selection is top notch. Looking forward to returning!

Google
Bohemian Biergarten was a really cute restaurant and pub. I highly recommend going during happy hour because I got a whole schnitzel sandwhich and beer for $15. The pretzel and beer cheese was also excellent… I’ve never experienced beer cheese that delicious. The actual building and restaurant itself was extremely well decorated and fit the vibe for a pub in Germany. I’d highly recommend coming here for some German inspired/themed food, and beer with friends.

Google
This place is good. Lots of carbs with cheese on them. Beer that comes in the shape of a boot. Do Germans wear boots? Unsure. Lots of beer options. Nice patio. Mustard galore. I ranked them all. My boyfriend thinks the waitresses are cute. Rustic and cheese and beer and wood and nice good stuff. Prost!

While for the sake of my heart, I could not eat here every day, this is a staple spot for us, especially when friends are in town. Their beer selection is incredible (don't sleep on the signature honey beer or you will regret it). The pierogis feel like home (a little kick on the topping really brings the flavor to a dish that can sometimes come off bland). We love sharing meals with friends here as the apps are very sharable and portion sizes are LORGE. Dog friendly patio makes it a nice stop after a hike in Boulder. We love you BB!

Google
A place with an awesome vibe, food and drinks are delicious and staff is so attentive especially manager and our waitress Hailey from Florida who gave us maximum attention even though it was very busy in the restaurant. It made our experience.

Google
This place was SO good. We don't have German restaurants in our city anymore and we miss the food. We had schnitzel and spaetzle, cucumber and potato salad. I could have eaten it all day. Sadly the only thing I DIDN'T like was the sauerkraut. It tasted like the kind from a jar. Plus, I'm used to it being served warm and this was cold. Overall it was well worth the visit.

Google
We took our German friend to try this place out. We all enjoyed the food, beer and Christmas gluhwein. My hubby and I split periodic, potato pancake and pork schnitzel, all really good and not too heavy. The inside was all decorated for Christmas and really bought the holiday spirit.

Yelp
Bohemian Biergarten is an Eastern European style gastropub in the heart of Boulder. They're a fusion of various countries like Germany, Austria, Poland, Hungary, and the owners homeland of the Czech Republic. The old historic building the restaurant sits in is the ideal setting for a place like this. The vaulted ceilings, the original bricks, and the reclaimed wood and light fixtures date back over 100 years! Beer here, or better yet, bier here! They make a few of their own in the traditional style, as well as guests taps from local breweries. The Biergarten Pils, brewed by Upslope, is a fantastic start to your meal, as well as a great accompaniment to this type of cuisine. Jager Schnitzel ($24) // choice of chicken or pork, served with creamy mushroom sauce, red cabbage, and choice of gruyere cheese fries or spätzle. I went pork and cheese fries based on the servers recommendation. The schnitzel was good, albeit overcooked and slightly dry. The gruyere fries were luxurious, rich, and filling! Das Pretzel ($11) // traditional Bavarian soft pretzel served with haus made mustards (+ bier cheese $3). Now I'll be damned. This is probably the best pretzel I've ever had. We had a big group of 10 in tow, and I think we all unironically made eye contact with each other as we bit into this with a shared look of "holy shit, this is phenomenal." ORDER. THE. PRETZEL. Staff were friendly, just a little slow at times to get refills, silverware, etc. It was graduation weekend so they were fairly busy early on in the day, so I get it. Ultimately the beer and the pretzel were the standouts for me, I just wish the schnitzel was more of a knockout. Overall, a fun place for groups with a large menu of traditional Eastern European classics. Check 'em out!

Yelp
Our second visit this trip! I said we would and glad we came back! It was a cold snowy day (Easter Weekend and snowing!!!) And the cold beers were wonderful. I ordered the Goulash, it was so good. I usually don't care for German dumplings, often too gluteny/rubbery, but the one inside the goulash was so good! Consistency was more like a Matzah Ball. My son and husband had the Schnitzel (pork) and is was great the second time around especially their potato salad! We starter with the Pretzel as we had to.have their housemade mustards again! We lucked out on parking and from a spot on the street a short walk away. Considering it was a cold snowy day, this restaurant was very busy. Says a lot about the food and service here! We had excellent service and a great server. The bartender was also.helping to serve and bus (great team work).

Yelp
Best beer spot in Boulder. The full liter beer is a must on a warm day and the outdoor seating is always nice in the Spring and Fall. The indoor dining area has a cozier atmosphere for cool fall nights or winter. It can be slightly loud but never to the point it's difficult to hear. More of a hangout spot than an intimate date location. The schnitzel is my go to item but most of the menu is really good. The service is always really good and we have never had to wait more than 20 minutes for a table. Having said that, a reservation is usually best later in the evening.

Yelp
Excellent genuine German beers and a tasty pretzel. Our server was great and since this was a snack stop, we'll be back for the jagerschnitzle! Love the old world casual vibe!

Yelp
This place is very cute! It was still decorated for Christmas and had a very homey feel. We were sat at a communal table which reminded me of beer gardens in Germany. The server was friendly and food came out quickly. We split the spaetzle as an appetizer which wasn't very good. It was advertised as "German mac n'cheese" but it barely had any cheese in it. The only cheese was melted on top and the rest of appetizer was just dry pasta. My partner said the goulash was good and it was a large portion. He said the potato dumpling on top was not good and lacked flavor. Overall not sure we would return but may be worth a shot! Not sure if the attached pictures are showing up!

Yelp
Great food and decent service. Place was pretty busy for sure and portions were very filling. Go there hungry!

Yelp
I'm not going to say this was the most authentic German dining experience but it had the feel of an excellent tribute band. Reminds you of the original but special and different in their own way. The beer was fantastic and the Guinness was one of the smoothest I've had outside of the UK. Their polish pierogis were sensational and the schnitzel was excellent. However, the show stealer and what pushed this from a 4 to 5 star review was their take on apple strudel. I can see why Guy Ferrari liked it so much. Dreamlike in flavor profile! Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Love the decor. Started of with the deviled eggs. Had a flavor kick that was fun and different. Got the Bavarian feast and all items were top notch. Had kids with us that could easily try all the things . Would go back

Yelp
Food was great. Service was atrocious. Waitress barely paid any attention to our table. We were a larger group, and we were forced to pay an automatic tip.

Yelp
Best Schnitzel on Boulder! Get chicken schnitzel with mushrooms gravy; awesome. Service was quick and solid. Excellent beer selection!

Yelp
Super fast service, they know how to get people in and out quickly haha. I think they have the food made and then can plate it when people order. They weren't rushing us out by any means but this place is super busy!! I'll also say the outdoor seating right by the building was slightly uncomfortable. But anyway, loved the food we got. Between the two of us we split the czech gnocchi, jager schnitzel, and German potato pancake. the schnitzel was SO GOOD. Crispy and perfect with the mushroom sauce and spatzle. The Czech gnocchi was good with the bacon & cheese but I think it was actually super similar in taste to the spatzle so in hindsight I would have ordered something else like the perogies or pretzel. The German potato pancakes was a super unique combo of flavors too with the apple butter (super fall/cinnamony) and pork belly. We would definitely go back but not rushing to anytime soon.

Yelp
Wondered in here for a beer and had so much fun! The place was super cute and the staff was so friendly. Opted for a couple draft beers and the bartender gave us their specialty honey beer cocktail on the house. It was delicious and if we ever go back I will be ordering that! 10/10

Yelp
Heard a lot about this place from Youtube foodie vloggers, so decided to czech it out after a day trip to Rocky Mountains NP. The restaurant was pretty empty at 6pm Thursday, it's all good. I was joined by relatives who drove down from Cheyenne, WY. * Beef goulash -- excellent beef stew with a unique flavor that may not appeal to all palates (Approved by my meat-eating, rodeo-loving, deer-hunting Wyoming relatives.) * Jager Schnitzel with spaetzle and sour red cabbage -- overall I liked it; although the pork schnitzel was quite dry without the gravy. * Fried Polish perogies -- it's my favorite, because it's like eating yummy crispy gyozas. Lol. Long communal wood tables and a few small tables. I don't think our only Polish restaurant in Los Angeles (Santa Monica actually) is this good.

Yelp
We loved this authentic Biergarten in Boulder! The Paulaner Hefeweizen was authentically delicious. We had a spatzle appetizer that was yummy but the Schnitzel stole the show, it was so good! I had a Jager schnitzel and my wife had a schnitzel sandwich, they were both so good! Situated right in the main area of Boulder, it's a nice place to sit and people watch.

Yelp
Fun theme and vibe, we stopped in on a weekend evening and it was pretty busy. Most tables are shared seating. Wide selection of German food and drinks. We enjoyed our time as well as the food and drinks.

Yelp
What a fun and unique restaurant in downtown Boulder! I was here for a rehearsal dinner the night before a wedding and it was a great space for a larger group! It definitely embraces the Oktoberfest vibe and German atmosphere! The surrounding area was fun to walk around on an early summer night! We started with a few different cocktails! I had the boho punch and Lucifer, and my husband had the house made sangria. All 3 were great, the boho punch was my favorite of the 3! The sangria was more on the dry side, but still yummy! We also shared a few appetizers and entrees. To start we had the Haus chicken wings with buffalo sauce and the potato pancakes. If you're a wing lover, highly recommend these! Enough to share and not overly spicy! The potato pancakes are a unique appetizer for sure and very fitting for the venue! A great start to try something new! The Biergarten burger was a safe and delicious option! Juicy and flavorful. It came with a house mayo but was more like a ranch sauce. It also came with a large serving of fries too and was an easy entree to share! We also got the hot polish sausage plate to share (Not pictured) and was delicious! Definitely spicy but as spice lovers was great! The service for a large group was awesome! They were efficient and a well oiled machine and it went smoothly! Everyone's food came out at the same time, drinks were refreshed quickly and they were attentive to everyone's needs! Overall, as a visitor from out of state, I would definitely recommend this spot to someone coming to Boulder, CO! It's a unique spot that is different from the trends and I appreciate that about it! Check it out if the German Oktoberfest has been an interest of yours!

Yelp
The bad: Bohemian beef goulash. This was an incredibly disappointing dish. The sauce had way too much wine and it was not edible. I told my waitress and she did nothing to fix the issue. I clearly didn't touch anything on my plate by the end yet she kept it on the receipt at full price. Bad service and a bad dish. I got the Biergarten pilz beer as well and wasn't a fan. I struggled to finish it since it was so bad. The good: The appetizers of pierogis and crispy Czech style gnocchi were great. If you get one appetizer, get the gnocchi. My girlfriend had the jaeger schnitzel which was also fantastic. The warm apple strudel for dessert was otherworldly good. It was the cheapest dish we got at $10 yet was by far the best dish. The ambiance had a welcoming soundscape of 80s/new wave/indie tracks. The decor was very Eastern European. Anyways, go here but don't get the Bohemian beef goulash. I repeat, do not get this dish. It's an expensive and disgusting dish that almost ruined our entire night.

Yelp
I went on an early Saturday afternoon. The place was not busy yet but as time passed, it started to pick up significantly. The atmosphere is amazing! I loved the vibe, as it makes you feel as though you are in a German bier hall having a pint or stein. All the beers I tried were excellent and their poutine was good as well. They have a variety of traditional German food offerings on the menu. Overall, a fantastic place for an excellent glass of beer with some friends!
google avatar

Yelp
Cool German bar in Boulder. We stopped here for some beers after the farmers market. Service was friendly & beers were delicious. Will have to come back to try the food next!

Yelp
We happened to see the Diners, Drive Ins and Dives episode right before our weekend in Boulder, so we knew we had to go here. Guy Fieri was right- it did not disappoint. The decor was Bavarian meets eclectic- very fun and interesting. Our server was very good and helped us with our choices. We had an off dry Riesling and Hefeweizen to drink. Both were very good. We shared a house salad with creamy Dijon dressing and the jager schnitzel with soaetzle for the main course. Delicious. The sauces on the table were a nice touch. We had to share the apple strudel for dessert since that's what was featured on the show. Yum! We took some home and had it for breakfast the next day. A fun evening!

Yelp
A fantastic find near Pearl St. We definitely recommend the fish and chips, the sausage plate, and the jagerschnitzel. LOVE the red cabbage! Service was friendly and fast! Loved the atmosphere too-

Yelp
Found this place on a whim, and so glad we did! The food is delicious, best schnitzel I've had since I left California (sorry CO, not trying to talk , there just isn't a lot of German food here). We had the pirogies to start, which were fantastic and the peppers on top gave them a bit of a kick. I moved on to the schnitzel, it came with German potato salad and beet salad. Everything on the plate was solid. I haven't had schnitzel that crispy in ages! The only complaint about the food is the sage on the spaetzel that my husband had with his dish. He's just not a sage fan, so if you're like him (I'm not), would not recommend. The beer menu is phenomenal. The beers on tap are not your run of the mill beers that you get at every bar/restaurant in America. They truly have a European flair to them. The service was also on point. Our server was attentive and helpful with questions about the menu. All the other servers helped bus the table and run the food as well. The best part though is the restaurant itself. It's entire VIBE y'all. I felt like I was truly in Germany or the Czech Republic. Maybe even had a Viking vibe to it. All in all, we love this place, and we will definitely be back as often as possible.
google avatar

Sara C.

Yelp
Cute spot, solid food, good vibes. Ordered the bratwurst and perogies. Next time we'll try the pretzel because it looked awesome.
google avatar

Stephen C.

Yelp
Food was very good. Fries were crispy, sausages were very juicy and savory. Schnitzel was a little small but well made and tender. The mustards available as condiments were amazing. Fried perogies were yummy! Host and wait staff were very friendly and courteous. They were attentive and helpful. We came in for lunch and the front of the restaurant was packed, so they opened the back for us. It was big, spacious and warm. We loved the decorations and will be back again.

Yelp
In Colorado for a few days and been wanting to try this spot. Spent the night in Brighton so drove to Boulder....cool place...love the vibe inside. Service was good and loved the food. Pleanty of appetizers like Polish Pierogies & Bavarian Poutine. I ordered the fish n chips (Pangasius Fish) and they were delicious with fries and slaw. Others had the Ruben sandwiches. Cold beers on tap...nice selection of beers. Restaurant is clean and well run. Nice outdoor dining area but it was cold outside- still snow on the ground from a storm they had just prior to getting to Colorado! So it was perfect!!
google avatar

Yelp
Great place. We only tasted a few beers and the deviled eggs but everything was excellent including the service. The place gets busy but there are plenty of seating areas. Wonderful ambiance as well. Overall, well recommended if you are chasing a good German/European beer/restaurant experience in Boulder. Street parking. Prices on par with the area.
google avatar

Michelle B.

Yelp
Meh. This is about what you would expect from a Bohemian Biergarten. A decent selection of German beers on tap - but way out of line on prices, $9/ pint is stupid. German food with some exotic/weird choices (rattlesnack and rabbit sausage was the special of the day - we did not order food). Service was basic, not good, not bad. The vibe is old world, dark, brick and wood but not the cozy kind, the castle dungeon kind but with bunting flags. Skip it - there are better places to imbibe in Boulder.
google avatar

Taci T.

Yelp
After wanting to try this place for 3 years (we are from out of state) and it being closed the day we happened to be in Boulder every time we finally got to eat here and it was so worth the wait! The food is very good, the service was very friendly. I had the Jager Schnitzel and it was fantastic. Hailey, our server, so so sweet and funny, she put up with our madness well. Will definitely be back when we are back in town.
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
We started with the fried pierogies and pretzel with cheese. Both were delicious! We ordered the chicken Jager schnitzel and fish and chips. We enjoyed both but my favorite was the fish. Be sure and check this place out. The service was excellent and our food came quickly.
google avatar

Kara H.

Yelp
I didn't realize how much I loved German food until recently, so I was really excited to find this restaurant! They have long, communal tables which can be hard to get in and out of in a brace, but we made due. Everything we had was delicious and flavorful, perfectly cooked. We had the pork jagersnitzel, which we loved- it was so rich and the gravy had fresh mushrooms in it. Our friend got the fries and we got the spaetzel, and the fries were so good- I would definitely get those next time. The fried Perogies were served with a remoulade sauce that was stellar. The fried gnocchi was served with a sour cream topping. And the apple strudel was served with a vanilla cream sauce- if it was socially acceptable I would have licked the plate. The back room was especially cute, and they have options for reservations and do karaoke some nights. The beer was all excellent as well, and although I thought the cider was medium dry, my friends thought it was too sweet. Highly highly recommend and will definitely be back for the food and the beer!
google avatar

Kelly K.

Yelp
Two friends and myself popped in on a hot summer day. They have a few outdoor tables, but despite it being warm inside too, the interior has more charm and character, like you're stepping into Eastern Europe. Lots of Oktoberfest style bench seating. We got quick, friendly, and attentive service during our brief stay. Good selection of German beers like you'd find at Oktoberfest, with different size options. We also shared a big pretzel with cheese dip and some fries. A little pricey being downtown Boulder and a themed restaurant, but worth it for a good time in a cool hangout spot with nice staff members. If you're strolling Pearl Street and craving some carbs, pop on in for a memorable experience.
google avatar

Aryan G.

Yelp
Friendly staff. Unique and flavorful food. Food came pretty fast. The beers were a lil expensive but the pilsners were delicious.

Yelp
Worth the try: haus sausage plate, jager schnitzel, beer (obviously) Tip: You're at a German restaurant, treat yourself to a beer! They serve them in 12oz, 0.5 liter, and 1 liter pours. Haus Sausage Plate ($15): choice of sausage served with sauerkraut, pretzel bread, and choice of fries, spaetzle (European version of Mac and cheese, made in house fresh every day), or potato salad. Portions are huge and everything was delicious! I'm still sad Costco no longer serves polish dogs, so this satisfied that craving :"). Jager Schnitzel ($22): breaded and fried chicken or pork. Served with creamy mushroom sauce, red cabbage, and choice of Gruyère cheese fries or spaetzle. Meat is juicy and flavorful, and the outside is perfectly breaded and crisp, all without feeling too heavy or oily. A traditional German dish, so it's worth the try. Das Pretzel ($10): Simple pretzel served with mustards and beer cheese (for an additional $2). Good to share--soft and yummy but a bit on the salty side. PARKING: Limited street parking available nearby. SERVICE: Servers were kind and attentive to our needs. Made us feel welcomed and encouraged us to have more beer. ATMOSPHERE: Typical bar vibe that you'd expect from any sort of European style pub. Huge space with tons of seating. Gets pretty lively! My friends and I were looking for a late night bite on our way back from Rocky Mountains National Park and found this spot. We walked in on a Friday night and were seated immediately. I've never had German food before, and this was a great first exposure to it! The beer was great, food was delicious, and it seemed like everyone there was having a fantastic time. Would recommend, will have to try more German places in the future!

Yelp
Was a comfortable and cool place to hang out. Exceptional service from Owen our first visit and Haley our 2nd! Young, but very efficient and friendly! Food was DELICIOUS too!

Yelp
A not so hidden gem here in Boulder. This place was so good and blew my expectations! Having gone to Germany, the food here may even be better than some of the places I have gone to in Munich. Friendly staff, quick wait times, and it's usually busy during dinner rather than lunchtime. Dark ambience and good food. Would highly recommend their pierogis and mushroom gnocchi for some of the best bites ever!
google avatar

Diane Z.

Yelp
Can't say enough good things about this place! Service is always good but if you want great... sit in Kami's section, this is the second time we were blessed to have her! She makes some wonderful suggestions- and has yet to be wrong!! All the food is great, we've had many items. Today Kami suggested the gnocchi, one with bacon and the other one with mushrooms, and both were delicious. The drinks are always Amazing! Shout out to the bartenders for sure! This place is our go to place for family gatherings, you're able to have great conversations. The front of the house is famil seating which we love.
google avatar

Evangelene G.

Yelp
We decided to visit our friends during Parent Weekend at CU. Finding a restaurant was a challenge, but luckily Bohemian Biergarten had seating available and we needed a light bite. This was one of my favorite places we visited while in Boulder. The vibe of the bar was so cool, especially with the Halloween decor! We got our pints and shared several light bites: Deviled eggs, pretzel, gnocchi and it didn't disappoint. Would definitely go back if I'm ever in Boulder.

Yelp
Awesome casual german-ish menu and beer selection. On a main street in downtown boulder. Go. Thank me later.

Shane D.

Yelp
Food was excellent and the inside atmosphere is really nice. However, it was really annoying when both of our servers were trying to clear and collect our dishes before we were finished with food on them. I get that the restaurant was slow and they needed something to do, but just relax. It's distracting when you're in the middle of a conversation and they're trying to clear the whole table off--it's not a sin to have a mostly empty plate in front of you after your meal for a few minutes while talking. We appreciate the attentive service but there were moments when they cleared plates without asking and taking food and forks that we weren't done with. Overall still a good experience and we'd be back again for the food and beer.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow!!! Food is ! So good the beer was cold and crisp and so refreshing tried three different kinds. They were all just as good as the one before. The food though omg my legs are still shaking the schnitzel was seasoned perfectly and so tender! The mushroom gravy was next lever rich with a smooth creaminess to it. The spatzel was so fresh they make it in house and WOW! I couldn't stop eating it was so stuffed however I kept going back for more! Thanks for the great experience. The gm was very friendly has a thick European accent he was very fun to chat with.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem, except it's not hidden. The ambiance is spectacular, the beer selection is fantastic, and the food is authentic. My wife and I went here the day after my Oma passed. I was highly impressed with this restaurant. The giant pretzel and beer cheese were perfect; soft and fluffy. The schnitzel sandwich was delicious; the bread was fresh, and the schnitzel was perfectly cooked. The sausage plate was great, and I was impressed that the sausages were named correctly. I ordered the weisswurst, which came with fries, pretzel bread, and fries. The weisswurst was terrific. We took home the apple strudel home, which was delicious. We will be coming back.

Yelp
The most delicious food l ate in Boulder, not too salty, not too sweet, had a lot fun here.

Yelp
If you want some great German/Austrian food, this place is the go to! Loved the vibe and the authentic menu.

Yelp
Beer, pretzels, beer, cheese, pretzels, and beer. Patio outside good service. Great summer spot for beers, and pretzels. and beer.

Yelp
I'm Czech and this place definitely hits home. I love the food here and the Pilsner Urquell on tap. They have some of the best mustard I've ever had. I love the atmosphere and the building. Kinda reminds me of the restaurants back in Czech Republic.
google avatar

Yelp
We've been here before, but this is the first review. The place is very much a Central European beer garden in look and vibe and menu. Food: I always go for the jaegerschnitzel. Good stuff. The gruyere fries are my preference over the spaetzle, but it does make for overall a pretty greasy meal. Drink: Mmmm. Beer. Good beer. Service: Not good, not bad. Always on the move. Ambience: Lots of folk drinking good beer and tasty food. The place is made up to have that beer garden feel (various props here and there), and the lighting isn't always that good, but overall enjoyable. A good place to visit just off Pearl St. We'll be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice selection of food and beer. Good friendly service. Nothing special but I would go back.

Yelp
As half German, this place hits all the notes for a German restaurant. Service has been nice, fast, and fun. Schnitzel has been on point every visit. All the main German breweries on tap. All around a good place.

On October 5, myself and 2 friends (all Asian American) and my dog attempted to go to dinner here. There were clearly open tables on the patio, which assumed that's where the dog-friendly area was. People were getting up as well but when my friend went to walk in, the host took one look at us and started shaking his head. This is a bit concerning to me because the host didn't allow for my friend to speak and immediately just shook his head, leading us to think that it could have been race influenced since we were the only people of color there. While we're hoping that was the caes, the management then needs to work on their training for welcoming guests with something other than a headshake. This was really embarrassing for us as there were other groups waiting to be seated and were welcomed differently.
