Scenic rooftop with cool vibes offering wine, craft beer & rotating chefs. No reservations required.
"The biggest issue with all of the rooftops in the middle of the city is that you can’t see the whole skyline, since you’re technically in it. That’s not a problem at Bok Bar, a big rooftop bar on the top floor of the Bok Building in South Philly that has 360-degree views of the entire city. There are exciting new food vendors monthly, like Darnel’s and Tabachoy. It's only open during the summer, so there’s usually a line out the door, but the space is so huge that once you’re up there it doesn’t feel very crowded. " - candis mclean, alison kessler
"The city’s coolest roof deck is set atop a former public high school in South Philly with panoramic views of the skyline and a lineup of events, from pop-up dinners and chef residencies to guided meditation. The space is seasonal; get up there from April through October." - Ernest Owens, Eater Staff
"Bok might be labeled as a rooftop bar, but there’s a lot more going on here than just margaritas, IPAs, and wines by the glass. Outside of having pop-up chef residencies from restaurants like Down North Pizza and Puyero, the view here is stunning. Like all rooftop spots, the restaurant is entirely outside, and almost all the food here (no matter who’s in the kitchen) should make your spread on any of their large classroom-style tables. Order a bunch of stuff to split, Two Locals pale ale, and stare out at the South Philly skyline. If you want a more sit-down experience, Irwin’s is in the same building." - candis mclean
"Just because you met her at this South Philly rooftop bar doesn't mean you can’t return to the romantic scene of the crime. Since Bok Bar has one of the best views in the city, it always draws a crowd, which is all you need when you just want to get out of your head, get under someone else, and have some fun. There are exciting new food vendors monthly, like Darnel’s and Tabachoy. You’ll want to eat something while you come up with the first pickup line you’ve had to use in two years. " - candis mclean
"Snuggling up in Winter was cute. Spring picnics in Rittenhouse were fun. But sometimes, a cold-weather hookup lasts a little too long, and your boyfriend needs a nudge to know that. Take him to Bok Bar, start talking about how there are so many fish in the sea, and let him know it’s time to cast his net. The summer pop-up in South Philly has rooftop views good enough to be on a Welcome To Philadelphia postcard and monthly rotating chefs—from Darnel’s, Jezabel’s, and Puyero. There are also dance parties and live DJs if you need to brighten the mood after a weird promise ring exchange. " - candis mclean
