The 13 Essential Restaurants in Denton

"This family owned and operated Mexican restaurant is a delight in the Golden Triangle Mall Food Court. It’s house-made corn tortillas are all over the menu, including the tacos, birria, huarache. And the Mexican comfort foods, from carne asada loaded fries to a mega-torta, will do an insatiable appetite right." - Courtney E. Smith

Loved the tacos, green/red sauce and chips/salsa!!!! Margaritas and Michelada were great. Service was spectacular as well. This is a hike on the wall and you have probably driven by it but haven’t noticed it. Well worth it! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! I’m ready for more tacos already.

I usually order the nachos here but this time the cheese was different. It was disgusting and if it were communicated to me then I wouldn’t have ordered. The sour cream didn’t taste fresh. When I picked up my order I said “I also had a drink,” in which they said it’s in the bag. In the bag? It was in a tiny PAPER bag stapled at the top. The drink was full of ice so the cup sweat and of course, it broke through the paper bag and spilled all over my thighs. Dumb idea. I reported with DoorDash but I know it wasn’t their fault. Waste of $30 that I’d love to have back.

I love their freshly cooked made to order burritos ! There was a time when I got one nearly everyday, coming from across town to the mall because I just HAD to have one. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and always quick with their service. I’m absolutely ecstatic about their new location opening on McKinney Street and excited to enjoy their great quality food with a family dining experience. I’m rooting for their entire team and wish them well in their future endeavors! THIS is what a 15 dollar burrito looks like !!

I've been here a few times for lunch and the tacos are decent and priced fairly. I've eaten the al pastor, shrimp, and carne asada tacos. The al pastor tacos is pretty good and well flavored. The beef taco was good as well and cooked well. The shrimp tacos was cooked perfectly but could have had more seasoning but the accompanying salsa and lettuce and tomatos help compensate for the lack of flavored. This restaurant is a take out only setup where you get a buzzer. The service is good and they make the tacos in about 10 minutes or later. I would definitely give a try it. It won't be the best tacos you ever had but they're decent. I wish it had more flavor and the more consistent for example one time they forgot the pineapples on my Al pastor tacos. However I would still come back for lunch due to decent tacos, price and fast they cook them

I got their Quesabirria Tacos con Consome and rice. It was 10/10 in flavor, pricing, timing, just… everything. They were very generous with portions, and for the price I paid it was worth it. I’m pleasantly stuffed. Try it, I promise you won’t regret it.

Super great tasting food here! We ordered as much as possible to get a sampling of the menu, and all of us LOVED the food! I think the Torta stole the show for me, I am definitely ording that for myself next time, I had pastor/beef ribs/ barbacoa tacos, all of which were amazing! Can't wait to go again, finally some amazing food in the most unassuming place...the Mall! Easy parking and tons of seating. Do yourself a favor and check this place out!

Google
Oh my goodness! This by far the best tacos I've had from a restaurant, let alone a restaurant in the flipping mall!!! Would recommend a small suggestion for more flavoring in the meat, but its still delicious! You could taste that the Tortillas were homemade and the salsa had perfect consistency, not watery at all, and spicy ratio was deliciously tolerable. Highly recommend 👌

Went back for a 2nd visit (12/13), and the tortillas are so great. Super consistent there. The barbacoa was still excellent. I’m the second trip, I feel like I got larger portions of meat in the tacos. So getting 4 was definitely more than I needed but enjoyed them all. At $2.89 a taco (minus the shrimp which was understandably more), def a good deal. Enjoyed them all, but barbacoa was the standout. Also tried the Al pastor (not from a trompo), carne asada and queso shrimp tacos. 1st visit (12/9): Really impressed! Had heard good things and finally made it over. I just never go to the golden triangle mall where it’s located inside but glad I finally did! The tortillas are handmade and excellent. It’s right next to the play area so lots of kids running around but it is a mall! Nonetheless , the tacos were fantastic. I asked for recommendations and she first said the quesabirria. I’ve never been a huge fan of those. I like them but don’t love them, I’d rather have just regular tacos but she recommended them so I wanted to try them out and thought they were actually quite good. The consumé we good too, I enjoyed the one here more than some others I’ve tried. At $13 for 3 quesabirria tacos with consumé … it’s a good price for what you get, was very filling. The salsas were good too! But I couldn’t just get that, I wanted to try a “regular” taco for lack of a better word. She recommended the barbacoa and the shrimp. I got the barbacoa bc the shrimp came with cheese as well and I knew I was going to get my fill of cheese in the others (but def want to try that another time). One bite of the barbacoa and I was sold. So juicy, tender…really great. They’ve got a cute set up in their booth. Drinks as well (Mexican coke in the glass bottle and a few others). Easy to find, right inside by the entrance to the left of H&M Highly recommend!

Yelp
We are back for the third time! And we have now tried a lot more things on the menu! The service is lightning fast! And the servers are helpful and thoughtful. We give this place our highest rating, and that says a lot!

Yelp
Mexican food so good it makes you wanna get married? We moved to Denton 2 years and have been searching for a vegetarian friendly Mexican food place with awesome drinks. We found Boka Feliz Mexican Kitchen on McKinney a couple weeks ago. They had my fav a cheese chili relleno (so rare to find). And I got to eat vegetarian refried beans! Boyfriend got a meat of some kind (lol) burrito and LOVED it. We're salsa snobs, but theirs is amazing (don't try it till you have a beverage!)! The drinks were on point. I like a spicy drink and he says he doesn't even like tequila, but there we are sippin on some Gracias a Dios, loving life. I love me some Mexican food. I need you to hear me. I LOVE SOME MEXICAN FOOD (also, their corn tortillas.... Damn). We had our Mexican food, our drinks, some friends were with us. It was a whole vibe. We got home, discussed the amazing evening, and he decided to end the night asking me to wear a pretty ring and tolerate him until one of us dies. So, I'm just saying... That food.... And those drinks. Watch out, they might getcha (or ladies, take him there ;)) Guess they got a catering gig now for May 2026. (Tonight he got another meat thing with mole. He liked the mole a lot. I got the mushroom taco and the avocado taco (and my refried beans). They were AMAZING. We tried some new amazing drinks. Just as wonderful as the first visit. Don't think I'm getting more jewelery this time tho lol)

Yelp
Who would have thought that I would find a really good spot in the mall! The food is by far some of the best food I've experienced in Denton so far. The service was good and their area was clean. This has definitely been added to my favorites list!

Yelp
One of Denton's best authentic Mexican restaurants is in the shopping mall. Counter service. The food is excellent! Perfectly seasoned meats that aren't too fatty. I highly recommend the carne asada huarache.

Yelp
The food was great I could tell it was freshly made. The rice was seasoned to perfection as well as the beans.I would definitely recommend this place. Don't be fooled because it's in the mall. My mom and I shared the taco plate, pictured below two fish tacos, and one avocado with beans and rice and a medium jamica for $25 and some change out the door.

Yelp
We had the most delightful time this evening at Boca Feliz. if you've not heard of them, it is the restaurant that moved in where El Chaparral used to be on McKinney and Bell. Though we miss El Chaparral, we are happy that Boca Feliz found a home in such a well-loved place. The menu is not your usual fare and selections are fewer than some but each item has been thoughtfully chosen, covering a wide range of palates. They have an attentive, knowledgeable staff, the drinks were great, and the food, marvelous ...everything we needed after the craziness of this week. If you are looking for something beyond traditional Tex-Mex and enjoy creative recipes cooked to perfection, give them a try. You will not be disappointed!

Yelp
It's in the mall food court, but don't let it fool you! The food is awesome! Highly suggest checking it out!

Yelp
I had the street tacos. Carne Asada was meaty and well seasoned. It was good with the complementary orange spicy sauce. The Al Pastor had marinated pork, grilled pineapple, cilantro, and onion. Adding the orange sauce made it taste very good! The chicken Street taco had marinaded chicken and mozzarella cheese. I did not care for this one very much with the added sauce. Service was quick and food was hot and fresh. Tortillas were fresh made. You can't beat the price for these filling tacos, $2.99-$3.89. I would recommend this for a quick hot and fresh lunch in the mall. This is located next to the kids play area.

Yelp
Boka Feliz has been on my list for awhile and I was finally able to try it while I was in Denton for a little bit. I know we generally have an idea of what to expect from mall food courts, but BABYYYY - THIS PLACE IS THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH!!!!!!! My sister has been raving about it for awhile and recommended a few things on the menu, so this time around I decided to try the carne asada fries and they were FANTASTIC!! They came out piping hot and packed with flavor!! Even though it had SO many toppings, everything worked together and none of it was soggy at all!! My sister got an order of guacamole, and quesashrimp, fish, fresh avocado, and al pastor tacos!! I was able to try all of them (minus the quesashrimp) and they were INCREDIBLE!! Seriously, the proteins were SO well seasoned and all of the ingredients were fresh!! The tortillas were clearly made in house and that GUACAMOLE!??!?! SENSATIONAL!! This completely went above and beyond any expectations i've had or would ever have for a meal from a MALL FOOD COURT!! This is truly authentic Mexican Cuisine and I am A FAN FOR LIFE!! 10/10 WOULD ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND!!

Yelp
OMG hidden gem inside the Golden triangle. The chicken nachos were sooooo good. The salmon salad was delicious. The Quesabirria Tacos with Consome was ok it wasn't nasty it just wasn't for me. Overall the customer service was good as well. I will be returning when I am back in the area. There was plenty of seating to sit down and devour the delicious food as well.

Yelp
Listen there are taco places all over this area, but don't sleep on this place!! It's inside the mall food court but the food and prices were excellent! I had the chips and guacamole which was fantastic and then a carne asada, barbacoa, Al pastor tacos, homemade corn tortillas and delicious meats!
google avatar

Doug H.

Yelp
I know it sounds strange to get tacos at the mall, but this place is a small, family-run establishment, and is GREAT. Excellent huarache, excellent pastor.

Yelp
AMAZING TACOS!! Fast service, friendly smiles, great prices and such fresh ingredients. What else can you ask for! Go get a Birria Taco!!

Yelp
Surprised to find such a gem in a mall food court. In the Golden Triangle mall. We were interested in trying the huaraches, and they were fantastic. Great chicken on top of a thick soft corn tortilla-like base with a layer of refried beans, topped with good fresh lettuce tomatoes, sour cream, quest fresco. It was perfect. Also of note, their chips and salsa were not free but worth it. The salsa was spicy and a little sweet.

Yelp
Who knew I could come to the mall and find authentic Mexican food ‼Choose a dish and you can't miss. They staff and frie and helpful.... HIGHLY RECOMMEND ‼ TACO TUESDAY ‼‼

Yelp
It's really good but a little pricey but probably the best restaurant in the mall if you're there give it a try!
