"Live bluegrass music + weekend brunch = Brunchgrass at Bold Rock’s enormous downtown hard cider taproom. Cider-moses and boozy iced coffee set the stage for mountain brunch nachos, cornmeal apple pancakes, and a breakfast cheesesteak with Appalachian taters." - Kay West

Google
Bold rock brewery in Asheville downtown area great location went up to the bar asked the guy for a sample taste and he gave me three or four taste before I picked the imperial blueberry cider, which was delicious and flavorful. Then I went to my table party of five and the waitress took care of us. I think her name was Kathleen, she gave us great service and the food was excellent. The only thing she didn’t mention was that the blue cheese wedge salad was massive and that I could’ve shared it and got two pieces of salmon so I ended up taking half my wedge home no worries. I’ll eat it the next day, all the other food looked delicious in the pictures on my next visit to Asheville. I will definitely come back to this place. If you’re in the area don’t miss out on the bold rock cider. It’s worth it. Food is reasonably priced and has large size portions.

Google
Bold Rock is my absolute favorite cider EVER so my review might be biased. But this was a great environment. The merch was awesome and the server was great. They also have a rewards program. Food looked great and paired nicely with the drinks. They had a lot of options. We went with a flight. 4 for $10. A great deal! You can buy large cases or do growlers. We will be back! They also have vegetarian options

Another solid spot in AVL! Came here on Sunday, St Pats, and it was loud and lively! We just missed brunch, but they still served us a Bloody Mary. We sat up front, still close to the festivities but just far enough away to be able to have an audible conversation.we got the grilled cheese short rib and the chicken nachos. The food came out pretty fast. I loved the short rib, I thought the nachos were pretty mediocre, but what can you expect from a beer hall! Reasonably priced, great ambience, nice merch section too. The bathrooms are DARK. Not super important but could barely see in there. I wouldn't be against coming back here!

We ended up here while being on a wait-list for a table at a restaurant around the corner. The food looked so good we almost considered cancelling our place at the restaurant. We had a flight and some of their mixed drinks. The drink menu is extensive and we really enjoyed the different ciders/ beers they had on offer. The place was really crowded but still had a lot of seating. There seemed to be a mixture of table seating/ with a hostess, and bar seating. It was well lit and the location was within easy walking distance of a lot of the hotels and other restaurants. Very popular spot. We would definitely visit again.

Google
We enjoyed everything we had here! The cider flight was the best option for us, considering we wanted to try a little of everything but were also driving. We camped out for an hour or so cause the place was empty and it allowed us to people-watch at the front with the open wall. My favorite cider was blackberry. I even purchased a case to bring home! The flavor that brought me to bold rock in the first place was a seasonal flavor, something peachy, on tap at another local venue. It was delicious! The pretzel was exactly as it appears, freshly baked and just enough salt to taste. The cheese sauce had a nice beer flavor but not too overpowering in my opinion. The mustard was good but my husband enjoyed that more than I did, I prefer basic yellow mustard. Boring, I know. The hush puppies were ok, I did not care for them as they were too greasy. My husband loved them but mostly for the pimento cheese dip they came with on the side.

Google
Food was great. We stopped for brunch. The cheese on the shareable pretzel was spectacular. I had the btl. Only complaint was that the bread was really toaty but that's a me thing. My friends raved about the cheesesteak sandwich. The banana chocolate pancakes were also really good but could be a lot if you are not used to it. Service was great. I'd love to come back next time I'm in town!

Google
LOVED this place. The best drinks we had in Asheville, went home with 3 packs of cider. The staff was phenomenal. We participated in Thirsday trivia night and it was so fun. Also pleasantly surprised with the food here. It was $5 burger night which came with the burger and fries. I had the burger with apples on it and it was by far one of the best burgers I've had! Thankful for this awesome laid back place! We will be back.

Google
The Bluegrass Brunch (only on Saturdays and Sundays) is amazing! My husband and I enjoyed our day date here. The food is delicious and there is a variety of drinks (something for everyone) from ciders to beers. The bluegrass music was perfect and they have a great selection a merch too!

LaDonna W.

Yelp
Love this place! Food is awesome esp. the Gold Coast bowl and all the ciders! Extremely friendly staff, would highly recommend!

Mae R.

Yelp
We had the best time at this Bold Rock taproom. They have a full calendar of events that is sure to have something for everyone. We have been to both trivia and SINGO which were equally enjoyable. Obviously there are plenty of great drink options, but they also have some great food. We had the smash burger special which came with fries. Everything was delicious, the people were nice, and I wish Bold Rock had more taprooms. The space itself is large and able to accommodate groups of all sizes which is a plus.

Susie O.

Yelp
This place has a great brunch menu and a lot of beers/ciders to choose from! The menu was extensive and had lots of options. I enjoyed the fried egg BLT and Appalachian potatoes. It was a good deal for the amount of food you receive! I would suggest "living bold" and trying this place out! You won't be disappointed by the good vibes or the table side service :)

Thomas B.

Yelp
Very cool cider place that also has distilled spirits! They have a ton of different ciders. I would recommend a flight to start! All were good. The whiskey was young, so not my favorite. There was live music and a great staff. So, overall a great place to hang out and drink!

Ellen P.

Yelp
Perfect place for lunch or snacks. Our waitress was so nice and friendly. The service was great. The restaurant was clean and well decorated. Lots of beers and cocktails to choose from. We got the loaded fries, plain fries, pancakes and sweet potatoes, hot wings and the wrap with chicken. Everything looked so nice and fresh when it came out the food was delicious. I recommend this place to everyone.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick drink on a Saturday afternoon while in downtown Asheville. The place was hopping, but we were able to find a few seats at the bar. They have an extensive cider selection and we shared a flight. They have the traditional apple cider, but have many unique options, including pineapple, pearadise, oaked 5th and many more. Prices were very reasonable, and the staff were friendly. They have a large merchandise area when you first walk in. They have a wide range of drink options!. I would come back to try more ciders and food.

Meredith S.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of bold rock ciders and love their Nellysforx and Charlottesville locations. The Asheville location was a huge disappointment. The live music was pretty lame and underwhelming. The waitress was friendly but not knowledgeable and the nachos were disgusting. They didn't have real cheese on them, instead the menu said that they had imitation cheese spread. Ours had no cheese and just some weird and disgusting mayonnaise sauce which left me sick for hours later. The cider is good which is why I'm giving it two stars.

Yelp
Bold Rock Asheville is a delightful addition to the downtown district. During our family outing, we decided to pay a visit. The ambiance is laid back, offering ample space for both small and large parties. On the day of our visit, they hosted a "shop and sip" event, showcasing local vendors and their products for us to explore. Also, they had a band playing live music, bringing the experience to life! While I personally refrained from indulging in the beverages, the positive reactions from my family and friends indicated that they thoroughly enjoyed their spirits. As for the food, I opted for the bacon burger and it was absolutely delicious!

Ken K.

Yelp
We love BoldRock ciders and have been to several locations. Friendly staff here and food arrived quickly. We were surprised that several flavors were out of stock & the explanation was that the truck comes tomorrow. Due to that, 4 stars today.

Lara T.

Yelp
This is a huge tasting room in Asheville. They are mostly ciders but they did have other beer options as well. Nice and clean with a cool private room in back, they also have full kitchen but we didn't eat here this time. I had a flight of ciders, imperial berry, blackberry, India pressed apple and the premium dry. They were all good. The Blackberry was my favorite. Bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable. There's parking available around the streets downtown or in local garages.

Rachel B.

Yelp
Bold rock brewery has an assortment of ciders, beers, cocktails, and more. We had a nice time sitting near the open windows on a breezy Saturday afternoon. There was live bluegrass music and a lively atmosphere. We ordered a couple "build your own" flights so that we could try a lot of beers and ciders. I loved the IPA Apple cider and the Pumpking beer the best. The regular apple cider is great, too. They also have non-alcohol options for beverages, which is nice. We didn't try any food this time, but it looked good. I would come back to try the food, too.

Kristi B.

Yelp
I am a huge cider lover, and was extremely excited to visit bold rock Asheville. The location in downtown Asheville is absolutely huge, a great place to bring a large group and hang out with some really great ciders. They also carry victory brews for those who would prefer a beer. We also noted they had a selection of bourbon and whiskey through Southern tier distillery. We arrived on Wednesday night after dinner and were able to enjoy a couple of different ciders and beers. Wednesday night they also have a singo which is like bingo only with songs. We had a a great time jamming out to songs that were one hit wonders and making friends with the people sitting next to us. They also offer $.75 wings on Wednesday night. The wings overall weren't bad. They could've been fried a little bit longer just to get that crisp but overall they were good. We opted for the medium sauce and it had just enough kick to it, but wasn't overpowering. I started with the berry peach cider, and while it was good, it is incredibly light in flavoring. I opted for the imperial next, which has a much higher ABV count, but the overall flavor is delicious. I had had the blackberry cider at dinner and opted to mix the blackberry and the imperial together. Absolutely delicious. Looking forward to ordering that one again before we leave town.

Patty A R.

Yelp
Stopped here for some cider drinks. The blackberry shown here is really good. This is a big place - plenty of space for large groups. They have plenty for my gluten free peeps and their French fries are amazing!! Good service, prompt, friendly! Prices are also reasonable! You won't be disappointed

Yelp
So much fun, we went back a second night! We noticed this hard cider var as we were next door at Crave Dessert Bar. It was karaoke night and we heard some Taylor Swift blasting from the large open windows. Turns out one of my friends is a big old rock hard cider fan and we decided to stop in and try a few drinks. You can also order a flight of different flavored, hard ciders, and even a flight of different whiskeys. I opted for the mango, hard lemonade in a can, which I thought was pretty good, and at 8% alcohol, I only needed a few of those. Service was pretty good considering how packed it was. If you want food and dessert, the sit-down tables are in the back. Bar and lounge are when you walk-in. They even gave Merch and hard cider and hard lemonade to go. Grab a growler and you'll be all set! We had a great time here on the second evening as well because we decided to come here for their dessert which included banana cream pie and housemaid apple hand pies, which were also amazing

Steve C.

Yelp
First visit to this downtown Brewer. They had a live band playing when we arrived mid afternoon on Sunday, but we caught the very last song of her set before they packed up. Lots of beer to choose from here, and they have a full kitchen. And beer was very good overall and service from Andrew was excellent!

Siena D.

Yelp
This location for Bold Rock is the perfect stop for pre-dinner drinks. I had a sampler of cideries. Bold Rock has some of my favorite ciders, so the entire sampler was good. It was slightly disappointing because they seemed to be out of many flavors I wanted to try.

Kandus J.

Yelp
Super lovely brewery in a great, walkable spot! I'm not a huge cider person but the waitress, who was a doll, suggested the blackberry cider because it's their most popular, was insanely delicious!!! 10/10 would recommend! They've also got some good looking food too that we didn't try but it smelt and looked incredible!

Christina H.

Yelp
Great place for a big party and children! The food came out fast and so did the drinks.

Jenny R.

Yelp
The cider selection here was amazing - they had so many different flavors and all tasted great! We also enjoyed the Korean BBQ brussel sprouts, but be careful because they are spicy! The atmosphere was both cool and relaxed and the service was awesome too.

Christine M.

Yelp
I visited the taproom yesterday for brunch with a bachelorette party group and unfortunately was disappointed. The taproom itself is beautiful however our service was subpar and the food was quite mediocre. We had reservations and were still sat in the bar area vs the dining room, which meant we had to go up to the bar and order all our food and drinks ourself since we did not have a waitress or server. It was certainly frustrating for us but I felt worse for the bartender who had to act as our waitress for a large group. To eat I got the breakfast cheesesteak with potatoes. The cheesesteak was fine, nothing special but barely had any cheese on it. The potatoes truly had no flavor at all and were definitely over cooked. The one positive part of our experience was the drinks. I had a cider flight and all were delicious and I enjoyed being able to taste multiple drinks. They have very unique cider flavors! My favorite was the tangerine. I would visit again for drinks but not to eat.

Antwon C.

Yelp
We're a fan of Bold Rock Ciders, so we decided to stop in for drinks before dinner. We both did flights. My favorite in my flight was the imperial cider. Food menu looked good. Will definitely have to get food next time. Service was good as well.

Maria P.

Yelp
Cute, bright, welcoming space in Asheville with ample seating at the bar or at a table. Stumbled upon the brewery on Saturday and stayed for the live Bluegrass music that is part of their brunch. I prefer crispy chicken wings and these did not disappoint. I did request them to be extra crispy. The soft pretzel, grain mustard, and cheese was so good too with a good ratio of salt to pretzel. If you love ciders, they have a ton to choose from. If that's not for you, there are plenty of other drink options.

Jean F.

Yelp
Great ambiance, service food and beverages! Definitely plan to visit while you are in Asheville!

Ajay M.

Yelp
TLDR: Opt for a flight of cider alone and elsewhere for food, especially during brunch. Unfortunately I have to give Bold Rock a 3* based on their service during a Saturday Brunch. If it was up to the cider alone however, (and I'm not a cider dude) it would've been 4-5*. The food was mediocre during brunch and we sampled pretty much everything off of the menu. They best way to sum it up is just bland. A sauce to go with an entree goes a long way, and Bold Rock just didn't bring it. The service is where things really went downhill. It was pretty busy (as is expected during brunch) and only one bartender was working. Needless to say we spent a lot of time waiting on drinks (45 minutes between ordering and arriving x2). Also the drink runner (didn't catch her name) was just unpleasant. Bold Rock, highly recommend a few more bartenders and drink runners during peak times! I will say that the live music was good, our table server was friendly, and the cider was actually really good (and I normally do not enjoy cider).

Heather M.

Yelp
I cannot say enough about this really cool restaurant/brewery. Every single cider and beer we tried was fantastic. The food was delicious. The waitstaff was kind and friendly and the food came out quickly. The whole place just has a cool vibe and ambience. There are TVs for sports lovers, comfortable seating for those just coming in for a drink, and in pure Asheville style, open air seats that face out to the street for people watching. You can find this place in quick proximity to the parking deck, and to Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville if you are headed to a show. We will definitely be back!

Crestin G.

Yelp
The experience here is distinct from the one in Mills River--it's the quintessential city brewery. The staff is fantastic, the vibe is perfect, and witnessing them craft a crowler added to the enjoyment. Unfortunately, I arrived too late for the food, but I've always loved everything from their pretzels to nachos and, of course, their ciders. Bold Rock has successfully converted this liquor enthusiast into a cider fan.

Felicia C.

Yelp
Enjoyed brunch. The band did a great job with bluegrass renditions of songs I knew. Now on to the food! Bae said the breakfast cheesesteak was very tasty. I enjoyed the chicken and biscuit topped with gravy. Even though the entrees came with potatoes (flavorful and seasoned) we ordered loaded fries for the app. OMG! They were some of the best loaded fries I've had in a long time. Even though we each had a cocktail I enjoyed the flight more. Make a rest in advance. We arrived around 11:30am on a Saturday. No sooner than we got our table folks started flowing in. Our server Morgan was very attentive and did a great job! And how could I forget the world's most adorable cutest littlest biscuits served with apple butter!

Tony S.

Yelp
Another place I would give a 4.5 to if I could. Just now quite a 5. Went for brunch. I had the chicken and biscuit with pickled jalapeno gravy. The biscuit when you could taste it on its own really stood out. One of the better biscuits I've had in Asheville (much better than Biscuit Head IMO). Chicken was moist, tender and cooked really well. Nice breading. The jalapeno gravy was not spicy in the hot sense, but really gave the dish a unique and tasty flavor. My only complaint was the gravy was a little too salty. The side of what they called Appalachian taters were good, but not great (they're just roasted potatoes with the skin on). In terms of the hard cider: I had only ever had hard cider a couple times before at an event and it was always out of the bottle. Here they are on draft. I did the tasting flight (4 ciders). I really liked the Vintage Dry and the Prosecco. The Roast was also good, with a hint of coffee taste [I know, coffee and apple sounds like a weird combination, but it worked well, especially with food]. The Pineapple might be nice for brunch on a hot summer day. Friendly, efficient staff. Reasonable prices.

Debbie S.

Yelp
The food was amazing!!! It was the best fried ocra and pot pie I've ever had. The beer flights were great too!

Kierstyn M.

Yelp
Stopped in with some friends for a bridal party, this was our first stop for the evening and what a great way to start the night! I ordered a cider flight and some loaded fries. The cider flight was delicious! You get to pick your own flavors to choose from on the flight which is absolutely genius! I love when I get to pick my own flavors and this was no exception! The cheese fries came out quick and were nice and crispy! Loaded with cheese and bacon and drizzled witb ranch they were pure perfection! They made an excellent snack that helped to put something on my stomach before having some drinks. Great menu and great ciders, definitely worth stopping by!

Christina C.

Yelp
It was my first time visiting the downtown location and it was great! Nice large, open space. It would be great for groups or just a great place to mingle and meet new people. The cider does not disappoint and always gives this outta towner something new to try. Bold Rock is one of my favorite cider places in Asheville.

Kristin S.

Yelp
The restaurant is nice and clean and the service was good. I had the grilled chicken sandwhich and my husband had the fried catfish. She food was good. I loved the beer. We had the blackberry cider and the pineapple cider! I would definitely go back to this restaurant!

Marcia S.

Yelp
Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and we're happy to find it was time for the Bluegrass brunch we shared a pretzel and we both had a Caesar salad with salmon. Everything was delicious and we also enjoyed some of their delicious draught beers. The atmosphere was comfortable and laid back. We will definitely return!

Allison M.

Yelp
Went back the other day to enjoy dinner. The salmon salad though small was awesome. The kale and cranberries added to the great flavor. The burger (veggie) was also awesome and the fries were perfect. I loved the balance of sharing both. We also got a cider flight ($10.99) to sip while we ate. They have so many flavors and many of them are seasonal. It's so fun to sample them when you go. The berry ones for summer were super refreshing. Recommend. We were debating dessert and ultimately chose the apple hand pies. When in rome, right? We were assured both desserts were handmade though (wow). They were warm and apple-y as expected. Nice little treat for later too as it came with 4 so we saved some.

Meanole M.

Yelp
First stop in Asheville and we needed beers. Walked in and got a hi top for 4. Good thing, because 5 minutes later place was packed with the World Cup crowd. Now the hostess didn't tell us we had to order from the bar, she didn't say anything. We waited for about 15 minutes until a bartender walked over and told us. I wanted to give 3 stars based on the experience with the hostess but the beer was so good I bumped up to 4. I had an amazing cider called the Imperial. My wife and daughter had flights. I sampled a few of those and all the beers were good. My kids got loaded fries and said they were really good. Overall I liked this place. Service after the hostess issue was very good. Place is huge and very clean. Loved the bathrooms....the stalls were completely blacked out. Eyes had to adjust before doing your business. Very interesting. Will go back next time we are in Asheville.

Connie E.

Yelp
Amazing cider and drinks! The atmosphere was fun, it's your typical brewery vibe but next level. I went on a Friday night so they did have live music. I also ordered the Buffalo wings to pair with my cider flight. I was slightly disappointed with the wings, while they were flavorful I could not eat them all due to the larger pieces being undercooked. Maybe it was just a one off.

Jay R.

Yelp
Everything was great from service to drinks!!! Brought in my twin infants and our server made us feel comfortable bringing over 2 baby chair instantly. The bathrooms also have changing stations. The Ciders are amazing. Got 1 flight and tried a variety and enjoyed every single one of them. The only thing I didn't try was the food.

Faith T.

Yelp
I have a fabulous time everytime I go to boldrock Downtown. We love when stephanie is there, she is one of the most positive people we get the chance to visit! Wonderful service and excellent food and drinks. There is always good energy in the room which is comforting and the best part is i can bring my good girl with me and she is greeted with a smile at the door! Thank you bold rock and thanks steph!

Kevin L.

Yelp
Came here for a beer pong tournament! Didn't win but it was quite fun and there wasn't a fee to enter. Some friends and I hung out here for a while getting their drinks. I drank a few non alcoholic apple ciders and had a chicken pot pie Despite there being some pretty good choices on the menu, the chicken pot pie is a really good choice. The crust and pie itself was perfectly golden and stuffed with a large amount of chicken and vegetables. I absolutely loved it. The atmosphere was relaxed with beer pong going on and a lot of people lounging around. Bar service and table service was friendly, quick, and easy. What more could I ask for?

Mari H.

Yelp
During a previous visit to Asheville I saw that there was a Bold Rock but not exactly close by and south of the area so we didn't end up making it there to my disappointment. This trip we grabbed one of the free Asheville breweries books and i saw that they now had a downtown location so it was added to the list of must gos. We got there to find a big, open space with a merchandise area, patio and plenty of seating as it is a long space that goes back a good distance beyond the bar. We sat at the bar and service was quick to greet us and give us menus. I have had several Bold Rock ciders because they do distribute (I think nationally) but their menu have a ton of stuff I had not see at stores or even heard of. I asked the beertender if there were any taproom exclusives offered and they did so those were the choices that went on our flight and to Ben's delight they did have some beers for him to pick 1 from. The rest were all ciders. LOL. Bold Rock is part of Artisanal Brewing Ventures that also includes Southern Tier Brewing , Southern Tier Distilling, Victory Brewing & Sixpoint Brewing. The taproom exclusives were so good even though when reading the flavor profiles you kinda lifted an eyebrow but you have to try the one offs while you're there. The Oaked 5th was all our favorites and my niece even ordered a crowler to go home with her. While we were there we also ordered their appetizer of fried okra. That is one of Ben's obsessions but theirs is different than any of us have had before with a Thai twist to it with a honey hot sauce. Inside of small circular pieces they will cut length wise. They were delicious and it didn't take the 3 of us long to kill the plate. We ordered them knowing you already had dinner reservations somewhere else because the entire restaurant smelled so good honestly. Next time we will be sure to eat there.

Lauren T.

Yelp
The food was as great as the ambience. The windows were open with the light breeze coming in. The Korean chili Brussel sprouts and the pretzel with cheese and mustard(yes it has horseradish in it) we're both great and a good balance as the brussel sprouts were spicy. The service was super friendly and diligent. She had good suggestions and the food came out quickly.

Kevin B.

Yelp
Love this place . Delicious ciders for a good price me and my girlfriend love this place and definitely will be back. Bartenders are super friendly and nice!

Sabrina H.

Yelp
This place is always solid if you are downtown and need a bite and a drink. Big space with a cool vibe. Great service and a fun menu.

Ashley L.

Yelp
Great atmosphere with a plethora of beer and cider options. Ordered the pickles which were great, and the pretzel which was ok.

Meagan S.

Yelp
Disclaimer: this review is specifically for their Sunday bluegrass bunch, but it's a must add to you brunch rotation or to your weekend stops! They have a special brunch menu (including brunch drinks like a Bloody Mary, mimosa, or cider-mosa, which is what I got), plus their full drink menu on top of that. For the food I got the breakfast Philly but asked if they would sub the pulled chicken for the beef and it was the MOVE. Add some leftover cider cheese from the pretzel app and it's a game changer brunch- I really hope they add it to the menu! Portions were very large all around and everything was delicious. The music was great too. I was surprised how not crowded it was, but I have a feeling it won't stay that way for too long.

Vinson G.

Yelp
The food was great. And they have a lovely beer selection. The service staff was a little overwhelmed; so I take that into account as our service was a little slow to start. I will caution some customers - while I liked this place it is loud. And on Saturday's they have live music, so if you love that setting or are looking for that this is a great spot. If you want something quieter, I would look elsewhere. But overall dinner was lovely.

Jessica O.

Yelp
First time to the Asheville location - Food and drink was great but the best part was the service! Sammy was an excellent bartender and brought that southern hospitality!

Stephanie J.

Yelp
Bold Rock has a location in Asheville now so we had to check it out. It was a flight for me and a pint of the watermelon cider for my husband. You get to choose four pours in your flight so I went with the spiced apricot, pearsecco, blackberry and pineapple. I've never been huge on cider from here but it is refreshing to grab a drink after a hot day. They serve food too but I can't comment on that since we only grabbed cider.

John L.

Yelp
Now owned by a conglomerate but still pumping out good beers and ciders. Great folk music on Sundays
