Popped in here on our way back home from staying at an Airbnb close by in Nellysford. I've had Bold Rock cider many times at various locations, but never been to one of their locations. This cidery is the company headquarters, the center of operations, and their primary production facility. This is a beautiful piece of property. The building is a huge barn looking structure that looks over the river. We were very lucky to be there on a nice day and enjoy sitting outside on the patio with the great views. Many others were doing the same. However, the inside is equally spacious and nice. This place can hold a lot of people as there was so many seating areas inside and out. There were people of all ages enjoying the location, cider, and food.
My husband and I ordered their Premium Dry cider. It was such a treat to enjoy their cider on draft as it's always better. I am not a fan of sweet so this was a perfect cider for me. The employee behind the counter was very helpful in helping us pick the best option for our tastes. The Premium Dry is a mixture/blend of red and green apples so got to enjoy the natural sweetness as well as the acidity of both apples. We also got a couple food items to share that came out pretty quickly. The Smoked Chicken Nachos (cheese sauce, black beans, pickled jalapenos, shredded lettuce, marinated red onions, white BBQ crema) were yummy. Loved the red onions preparation and between the cheese sauce and crema the nachos were nice and saucy. The Smoked Pulled Chicken Cobb (mixed greens, bacon, blue cheese, tomatoes, chopped egg, bacon balsamic vinaigrette) was heavy on the blue cheese and I am here for it. It was a tasty salad. Both items went well with the cider and were just enough to fill us up but not overload us before getting on the road to head home.
