Huge shoutout to Cortney, Paul, and Scott—you all went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We even showed up a little late around 8:45 PM (just 15 minutes before closing), and instead of turning us away, the team greeted us with open arms and genuine smiles. That kind of hospitality is rare and so appreciated! Whether you're local or just passing through, this place is a must. Thanks again to the amazing staff—we’ll definitely be back! 🍔🍟🍻

A great place to take friends visiting from out of town. The interior is stylish but not pretentious, and the food is high quality. I had the duck breast with a cherry glaze — amazing texture and balance of sweet and savory. Everyone at the table was impressed.

Just love this place!! Whenever we are in the area we get our food for take out. They have great service they are always friendly and their food is delicious! We will definitely be back. We enjoy their burgers, sandwiches, nachos, tots, and onion rings.

Absolutely delicious! I haven't had one of their big juicy burgers since I was a child. I ordered the biggest cheese burger with all the fixings. It came out hot with the buttered buns crispy with butter. Yum.... You will pay restaurant prices of course... It's not fast food, nor does it taste like fast food. This is a upscale burger 🍔

Found this place through an online search and was not disappointed. The service was quick and friendly. Restaurant was clean and enjoyed by locals. That encourages me when trying a place for the first time, especially when not from the area. Food was flavorful and plentiful. Plenty of parking but patience is required when getting back onto the busy road. We would go back if visiting the area again.

One of the last ones left. Employees are so great. Keep that small diner feeling. And if course the food is still on point!!

Lowkey family atmosphere with lots of games. Wait staff was very friendly. Food didn't match menu description exactly but it was pretty good nonetheless. Fries kinda just tasted like frozen.

Charming place. Kinda old school. Nice menu selection of burgers. The condiments are served in used dirty takeout containers. While regulars who dine here are probably fine with it, IDK how sanitary it is if it's passes on from one customer to another potentially using their fingers to grab and munch on pickles or banana peppers. The restroom is old and dirty. From the rust in the sink, it's obvious that it hasn't been maintained in some time

Amazing little place nestled in Ramona. Very country music vibe restaurant with all American favorites. You have to Try the 1/2 pound super cheese burger and ad mushrooms!! Delicious and order yourself fully loaded potato skins you will not regret it. The place is clean and the people are friendly

Good old school family comfort food, clean friendly and good service. We went back to our childhood with their malt milkshake made just right! Burgers and onion rings a classic! They even made me a pineapple teriyaki burger just like I like it, wrapped in lettuce ( no bun) yummy

I grew up eating Boll Weevil, and all of the locations are closed except for this one. This places brings me back to my childhood and always hits the spot. As far as the food, I love In N Out, but these burgers are so much better. The server Paul is awesome too, he always takes great care of me. This place is legendary.

Best crispy sweet potato fries ever! We asked for crispy and the chef nailed it. Blue cheese burger was great. Fish was good, but then deep fried fish is always good.. Poppers were amazing crispy and hot, temperature not spicy, definitely tasty. Service was very good. Just the right amount of attention. Thank you!

The food came out hot and made to order. The service was fast and friendly. We went after playing golf, there were families, games and college basketball to make the experience complete.

Haven't been to a Boll Weevils in years. Didn't know they were any around any more. We stopped in after a day of wine tasting. We were greeted right away. She took our drink order, came back & we ordered our food. Quick service & the burgers were so good. We're happy to give a 5 star review.

Stopped in for dinner while visiting family in the area. The place is really big and very family and child friendly. Plenty of seating and games for the kids. My guy ordered a pastrami on sourdough but didn't want Swiss cheese. Asked for provolone or mozzarella but they didn't have those cheeses so he said whatever. Unfortunately they put cheddar on the sandwich which we all know does NOT belong on a pastrami sandwich! He said the sandwich was really good as far as the bread and pastrami but the cheese ruined it. He managed to eat all the parts that didn't come in contact with the cheese. I had the peanut butter and jelly bacon burger (choices were grape or strawberry...I chose strawberry) and it was great! Don't knock putting peanut butter on a burger till you try it, it's amazing! Onion rings were decent and the side salad my guy got was actually pretty large. Definitely a good choice for dinner!

They're closed on Monday and Tuesday which conflicted with our visit. Sort of weird. Atmosphere was casual, bathroom was clean. We ordered three Mini Steerburgers. The Patty was pretty thin and tiny overall. Just ok. Not like we remember it from years ago at the other ones in Escondido and San Marcos. Fries were subpar and needed salt. The biggest disappointment was the condiments tray they brought us. The onions, peppers and pickles were barely 1/4 full. Not freshly topped off and just looked tacky. We told the waitress and instead of her taking the tray and refilling them she brought us two additional barely filled containers. So stupid. Sort of a dingy waitress. Oh well, it was the day before Thanksgiving. We cut her some slack. Wouldn't recommend.

This boll weevil is the best out of all of them. The service is always great! You never wait very long to have your order taken, get drinks, or have your food delivered to your table. My son loves the chocolate shakes and curly fries. I always get the nachos and mushroom burger! Becky is the best server there, always checking to make sure your taken care of! Thank you for always being consistent over years!

This is a staple here in Ramona. If you want a good family atmosphere, then Boll Weevil is a great stop, even if you are just pass through. My wife is a huge fan of the chili cheese...well everything, but the fries definitely stand out. My kiddos love the cheese burgers and eat the whole thing pretty much every time. If you are looking for something flashy and some niche or innovative burgers, then Boll Weevil is not the place. If you want a consistent, old school burger joint spot, dive in!

I remember coming here a long time ago and not being very impressed. I moved to Ramona and saw that there was a Boll Weevil and decided to try it again. I wasn't expecting much from the look of the place. It is very dated but I am so happy I gave it another chance. Everything was amazing! I even got the courage to try the peanut butter and jelly burger, and WOW! It sounds horrible, I know, but somehow everything just goes together perfectly. The service goes above and beyond what you would expect. I have gotten Paul multiple times, and he is the best! So kind and friendly in the most genuine way. Even if he isn't our server, he will still come to say hi.

I came to Boll Weevil with my family to visit my brother in law. He recommended a lunch spot that I most likely never tried so we stopped by Boll Weevil. They are know for their burgers, so I was told. We ordered several different types of burgers. I ordered an Hawaiian burger which came with a grilled sliced pineapple on top. The burger was outstanding, I must say. Fresh soft buns, crisp lettuce, juicy grilled burger patty, and served piping hot. Their fries and onion rings were all great. Unfortunately, they were out of tater tots the day we went but next time, I'll get an order of those too.

Saturday night party of 15. Food was great, kids had a blast and we were able to sit and enjoy a few cold ones while they played. Their frozen schooner mugs keep your beer ice cold! Service was great as well.

Second time here. Food is delicious! Service is so great. We asked if there is dairy in one of the buns and the waiter brought the whole bag of buns out for me to see. So thoughtful! Very authentic place.

Stopped for lunch today, we were the only ones there. We both had the steer burger, it was fresh, hot and delicious. Had the brownie dessert which was also yummy. Service was friendly and efficient.

Most awkward dinner I've ever had. I'll just dive right in... the younger male wait staff (never caught his name) very off-putting to say the least. Girl came up to the register to pay & that dude just STARED at her boobs the entire interaction & followed up with a "I really like your shirt" (trump shirt ) Then when serving a table with 3 young girls the one told him she ordered a root beer & not a Pepsi his response was "well aren't you sweet" and put his hand in her shoulder. You don't touch people's children! When time came for him to serve that same table their food he went on to tell the parents "oh, letting the kids lead grace? At least some folks are still doing it right" KEEP YOUR RELIGIOUS VIEWS OUT OF THE WORK PLACE! Our server also decided that having a VERY uneducated conversation about satanists with her coworker was appropriate and about how our god blah blah blah. Firstly not the place to disrespect people's views and second.... Satanists hold nothing higher than themselves. FYI The male server decided to visit our table (not our server) and proceeded to go on about how he likes our tattoos and how his sister is tattooed blah blah blah. It honestly was the most awkward situation I've ever been. Food was absolutely subpar & tasted mostly of what I'd assume a weeks old grease trap would taste like. Never were offered refills on our drinks, never checked in on, just left, and ignored until the end. Will never go back. Place is garbage. Protect your kids too.

Absolutely love this place the staff is awsome and on point there burgers are huge and quite tasty lots of things to do while waiting from pool tables to a few classic arcade games all in all good family fun and reasonably priced

Was randomly in Ramona and hadn't had boll weevil in decades so stopped in. I've never been to this location but I went to Poway for many years when I was a kid. I remembered liking it then but guess I didn't know any better as a kid Definitely not amazing. Guess nostalgic reasons weren't enough to make for pretty bad food. Had 1/2 steer burger with cheese and some onion rings Onion rings were ok but the burger was pretty bad. Shredded white/yellow lettuce and a stale generic bun like you get at Burger King. Patty was kinda ok kinda greasy but all the rest ruined it. Prob won't go back but if I had to go back I wouldn't get a burger for sure

We've been coming here for 20 plus years and have never had an issue. Food always spot on and the best burgers in the county. Our family's favorite place

Came first time. My choice was STEERBURGER, my husband choice was Peanut butter and jelly Burger. Both were delicious!!We will back here soon!

This review if for the All You Can Eat Fish & Chips and not the hamburgers. I know it's a burger place and you might say "Why would you order Fish & Chips at a burger place?". Good question. Thursday Night between 5-8PM is an AYCE special on Fish & Chips...that's why. I was apprehensive when I walked in but I figured "Hey! The parking lot is full so that's a good thing"..Inside, I saw that almost everyone was eating burgers...Hmmmm, that should have been a clue. We ordered the Fish & Chips, that comes with a salad. The salad arrived and I knew right away it was a pre made product, bag type, with a absolute minimum amount of dressing. It tasted odd and was wilted so I knew it wasn't fresh. The Fish & Chips arrived, fish was extremely hot, chips not so much more on the warm side and they were a frozen product. The fish was an unknown type, I just couldn't tell. Tilapia maybe? It was thin, mushy and more batter than fish. You just couldn't tell where the fish began and when the batter stopped...but it was all greasy. A combination of incorrect batter, oil too hot and fish cut way too thin. The flavor was like a thin mushy grease sponge. Right after we ordered we heard the cook calling out "No more orders, we are almost out of fish" The thing is, something like this is fixable. It really is. Thicker but fresh fish, fresh cut chips and a proper batter. The issue is will a change be made, and that I just can't answer. A plus is the staff was very friendly, down to earth and made sure to check in to see if we needed anything.

As someone who grew up in San Diego and then moved away, seeing Boll Weevil when we camp in Ramona is a flash back to some wonderful memories. Every time we camp in Ramona (which is 2-3 times a year) we make it a point to eat at least one meal here. This last visit, on 7/18, we made it in just time from Los Angeles for the AYCE fish and chips. It had been almost a year since our last visit and I was pleasantly surprised to see the new floors, table tops and a "refresh". The food was exceptional and plentiful. The following night we sent our daughter, her boyfriend and some friends in for the famed Steerburger - they ordered 1lb Steerburgers LOL! I think the staff was stunned but the ate every bite and raved about them when they returned to the campground. The staff is always top notch and the craft beer selection is amazing. Pitchers are a reasonable price and we always get frosted glasses. Keep doing it right Boll Weevil! Looking forward to our next visit!

We come here fairly often when we visit Ramona. We have our favorites. My wife's is the cowboy burger and mine is the triple cheese burger. We also get two baskets of fries. When our sons are in town for summer break we make a special trip for lunch and also enjoy the shakes. The owner works hard especially with what restaurants have gone thru with the pandemic shut down. He has a consistent staff that we see every time. We were here last Sunday and everything was great as usual. It's a casual friendly place to enjoy.

It's getting harder and harder to find Boll Weevils around. The reason I am giving this place 4/5 stars isn't simply because of the food, which is decent not spectacular. One of the things about this place that is spectacular is the fact that it is family owned and operated and the staff is AMAZING! I usually call in my order for pick up but whether it's picking the food up or eating at the restaurant the staff is always amazingly nice! To top it all off it has the small town feel a lot of people still love and want to hold on to.

Just a good long time Ramona staple. Great burgers and sides. The only thing I do not recommend is the fish and chips, it's more like Frozen fish sticks from the freezer section at the local store. But the all you can eat fish and chip night,Los fresh and the best fish and chips in town. Keep up the good work!!

If you want a good burger, service, a nice place to take your kids and bang for your buck..... stay clear from here. Boll Weevil is a hit or miss. You will find those who swear by it and those who despise it. The restaurant has a group of loyal customers and they continue to come back. But they can all make a better burger at home if they tried for a fraction of the price. The food is mediocre. The service is not the best. The kid area is just terrible. It's not maintained well or clean and my daughter was more disappointed than anything. The machines ate her quarters right up. The restaurant should be updated in general. I would come here for one thing. They do this one thing so right. It's the best in the world. They make old fashioned malts and they are to die for. Make sure you order one!

Burgers are good. Place needs a makeover kinda drab basement style atmosphere. But there's pool tables and games to play to keep the whole family entertained. A bar and TVs too. The service is good and the staff is friendly. Great price point. And plenty of space for large parties. Just wish they had steak fries.

There should be an option for ZERO STARS!!! They should be ashamed of themselves. We were given gift certificates for our family to enjoy a nice meal which at the end they didn't accept our gift certificate and we had to pay ourselves for this horrible experience. We did NOT have a nice experience what's so ever, in fact, this was by far the worst we have experienced. The place was dirty, flies flying around the tables. I had to be moving my arms around the table scaring off flies. Restroom had no toilet seat covers which is very unsafe and unsanitary. IT HAD NO TOILET SEAT COVER AT ALL, they were not out or had an empty container in the wall, THERE WAS NONE!!! Nothing other then toilet paper to cover the seat. I decided not to use their restroom. The wine was FROM A BOX!! Which is the restaurant's option to serve whatever they want but also for what they charged me for ONE glass of wine I could've bought the whole box and more. The glass was too small and way over filled. I couldn't drink it comfortably, I was so worried I was going to spill it all over me while trying to take a sip. A SMALL GLASS DOESN'T make it seem like you give more wine, it just makes it uncomfortable for your customers. I guess it has to be a small glass because it must fit under the nozzle of the box wine. Waitress had a bad attitude when asked to explain what was included in the burgers and the kind of beverages choices. This was MY first time, and last!!! Never coming back here again, no one should, you will be better out with a Frozen Burger at home. Don't waste your money on this place like my family did. This was my husband's favorite place as a child, but now is not the same as he remembers. I checked the menu prior to arriving to the restaurant because I have kids and it's crazy trying to figure out what to order when you have kids to watch out for. So I checked the menus and like a good mom on a budget I totaled everything up and it was waaaaaaaay under our $80 gift certificate, when I saw the menu the waitress gave me, I notice there was a huge difference on prices. Kids meals for $4.99 on the online menu and at the restaurant it was $8.99, That's almost double the price. Burger combos online menu said $8.99, restaurant menu $11.99. Milk shakes came up to $5.99 each when online menu said $4.99 and many more prices that didn't match. All I could think was "at least I'm not paying for this, it was a gift... be appreciative" But NO!!! I did end up paying for this, $85 plus 20% on tip because my husband is a saint and would never leave a place without leaving a tip. I hope someone does something about this, because it's not ok to do this. We went here with a gift certificate for a meal that was given to us by our family with all their love, in return we got a horrible experience and paid $100 I could for groceries and utility bills. I cried my way home, I couldn't believe what just happened. My husband told me everything was ok because at least we didn't get food poisoning (so far...)

Homey, welcoming environment. Have been here many times and have never had a bad experience. My boyfriend and I were seated in greeted immediately upon arrival. He ordered some mozzarella sticks, which arrived at her table within five minutes. A lot of people started to walk in, but at no point did the crowd affect the service we received. I want to stress that this place is known for its hamburgers so probably don't come here if you were looking for a salad. When I looked at the menu I was impressed with the creative variety of different burgers to choose from. Very family friendly & they also serve beer for the adults. Highly recommend.

Got a burger from here for the first time. The "Bad burger" (tomato, lettuce, bacon, guac, american and jack) was great and very big. Fries were perfectly cooked and delicious. They didnt ask, but burger was cooked medium well. Server was very friendly. All in all great value and ill definately be back.

My wife and I went for a drive out of San Diego just to get out and have some fun. Stopped and had lunch at this Boll Weevil in Ramona. The burgers were Excellent. The service was equally as Excellent and we have made it a point to come at least every month to have lunch or dinner. You won't be disappointed. Great place!

At first glance this place gives the appearance of a neighborhood pub and once you go in you'd not be wrong, but it's great for families. The meals are enormous!!! Good idea is to cut your meal in half and ask for a box for the rest. I had the Philly cheesesteak and it was delicious! We were a very large party (20+)but our server took care of us no problem. All of the staff is very friendly and inviting. Great place to stop after a day for activities at Dos Picos County Park.

Celebrated a "wedding rehearsal" dinner with approx 40 people all ordering from the menu. Marie and Hannah did a big really great job getting drinks, taking orders and delivering the food quickly and efficiently. They were pleasant, helpful and prompt.... excellent service for sure! Everyone had a great time!!! Thanks all, I would definitely recommend you to everyone!

Solid restaurant in terms of food, service, and prices. Portions are generous. Everything tasted fresh. I had the healthy salad with grilled chicken. Hubby had the cheeseburger with onion rings. The onion rings were not greasy and were delicious and crunchy. Burger was juicy. The salad was large enough to split. Restaurant was quaint and homey which was a nice change from chain restaurants.

Not a big fan of this place. I've tried a few menu items and I have yet to be impressed. The food is pretty bland and tasteless, and the milkshakes has very little flavor. The only upside is the people who work there, they are super nice. They definitely have a lot of potential.
