22 Best Beaches in Los Angeles, From Venice to White Point | Condé Nast Traveler

"Stretching three miles with fluffy sand, a paved biking and jogging path, and adjacency to the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, Bolsa Chica is ideal for barefoot walks across sandbars that let you walk far into the ocean and for birding, biking, surfing, and fishing—though the water is typically cold." - Maxwell Williams

I arrived at Bolsa Chica Beach at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, for the 420 reggae event hosted by Sea Legs at the Beach. The venue was set up directly off the beach, with a nice set for a out venue. Nice & Swell were playing, and their set brought a smooth, laid-back energy that fit the setting perfectly. There was a VIP section with wooden beach chairs and low tables, but the rest of the crowd was standing, spread out across the sand. Food was available nearby, and the scent of weed filled the air.,fitting for 4/20. The crowd was mellow and friendly, and everyone seemed in the moment. I brought my dog with me—it was his very first event. He was curious about everything: the music, the people, the beach itself. He wandered around happily, sniffing the air, wagging his tail, and making lots of new friends along the way. A few people bent down to give him pets or say hello, and he soaked it all up. The weather was perfect, the vibes were relaxed, and it ended up being a memorable, easygoing afternoon.

Always a beautiful, clean beach! Many fond memories here and it was great to introduce my granddaughter to the waves and beachcombing.

Beach itself is great, been coming since I was a child. Soft sand and nice and flat, tons of shells and a small amount of rocks. Perfect for families without being touristy. Getting in and the price of parking is what isn’t so great. Depending on the day and how nice the weather you can expect anywhere from 20 minutes to over an hour just to get through the line and past the gate to even get to a parking spot. Add on the difficulty of only being able to turn right into the gate area which means if you came the other direction good luck trying to get into the line because it goes for a long ways and nobody will let you in if you didn’t realize all the cars on the side of the road were waiting to get in. Add on to the fact that the attendants at the gate choose random cars to let through into separate lanes instead of just having all lanes open. Add on time if anyone in front of you happens to have questions because the attendant will stop and chat with them. They do accept card payments now which is useful since the price to park has gone up to $20 for cars!! They do have a decent amount of restrooms but they definitely need work, locks were sticky some out of toilet paper, missing hooks to hang items and fairly unclean with toilet paper all over the floor with more than just sand and ocean water with it. But the beach itself is great and plenty of lifeguard stations with great lifeguards always watching and helping people. Overall 3 stars.

Bolsa Chica in Huntington Beach is a perfect spot for bird watching and peaceful walks. If you love nature, you’ll never get bored—each visit offers a unique experience with different light reflections, stunning sunsets, and a quiet atmosphere. A must-visit for anyone who enjoys the beauty of the outdoors!

The beach temperature was refreshing and enjoyable! The sand was rich with seashells of variety and color! The pelicans and pigeons stayed close to the shore where they searched for food and teased the incoming currents. The most attractive view is the Sunset in motion reflecting the background of the sky blend of blue above the orange and yellowish colors waiting for the sun to drop, leaving the ocean beach behind.
