I live two blocks away from this place and have been coming for years. I buy a bag of coffee beans, and the pork breakfast sandwiches multiple times a month. I introduce friends to this place. Needless to say, I'm a good customer and bring them a fair amount of business.
Today, my girlfriend and I decided to swing by for our usual. We asked if they were still serving the breakfast sandwiches as it was noon, and the man behind the counter answered our question a bit curtly with "you have 4 minutes." We ignored the attitude and my girlfriend asked if the pork sandwich was similar to the pork belly breakfast sandwich. He laughed as if we were stupid, and again curtly just said "no."
Slightly annoyed, I let it go and remained kind trying to neutralize the situation. We placed our order, and sat down outside to wait. 15 minutes later we discovered the guy had forgotten to put in my girlfriend's sandwich order. When addressed about the mistake, the man informed her she didn't order it (I was right there, she did), and that he repeated our entire order back to us (he did not read back the entire order). And he delivered this information very curtly and mater of factly, following his prior bad attitude, which really rubbed the situation in when he let us know the kitchen was then closed.
I've worked in hospitality. One bad hire can ruin a place. This guy was just plain rude from the start, arrogant, and unpleasant for no reason. He messed up our order, cost us our lunch, and even then was even ruder and unapologetic. Even if it was our fault, which I firmly believe it was not, a bit of sympathy and kindness goes a long way. What a terrible temperament for a position based on service. Disappointed.
