Bom dia is an excellent concept and honestly something Minneapolis needs so badly, so I'm quite excited that it exists. The space is beautiful, the idea makes me so happy, and really there's not a great another good option for Acai bowls in Minneapolis. So if you're in the mood for an Acai bowl this is the place to go, and with the level of customization possible, things are going to be okay.
My issue stem from the execution of Bom Dia's amazing concept. First off the greeting upon walking into Bom Dia just wasn't there. I grew up in Southern California, walking into an Acai bowl shop that was local had a local feel, everyone was excited to have you there. Even if there was a cheesy "Have a Bomb Dia!" greeting that would have been better than utter silence in the empty shop. Then ther was the ordering process. The coffee wasn't up on a board, the staff thought it was, but it wasn't. So that made ordering coffee hard. I asked for a cold brew, I was told "oh yes not a problem...let's see, that's like an Iced Americano right?" That was quite concerning so I cancelled my cold brew and went with just a shot of espresso. Later i was brought a hot americano, made a point that that wasn't an espresso, and then after that got an espresso that was so poorly pulled that it wasn't actually drinkable...soooo not sure you can go forward with the coffee drinking here, but that's not why you're here in all honesty!
The acai bowls have so much promise, but the conversations with staff about what is in them, what you can add, how it all works is just very hard. When I got my bowl it was honestly so great and I was so happy. the best you could hope for in an Acai bowl in Minneapolis - we're not in Tulum. But the sizing, customizations, and all of that are easy, just the communication of it seems hard...perhaps a bit more training might be useful.
I love the spot, I love the bowls, let's just fix it up a bit more so everyone is excited about it and this will be a huge hit!
