Boston Restaurant and Bar Openings, August 2024 - Eater Boston

"After a successful first year in Cambridge’s Inman Square, Brazilian coffee shop and cafe Bōm Dough has now opened a second location in East Cambridge. Don’t miss the savory and sweet pão de queijo at either location." - Erika Adams

One of my go-to spots for simple, satisfying salads and good matcha lattes. Didn’t expect Bom Dough to expand so quickly, but here it is—their first new branch, right next to the Cambridgeside Mall. Historically, cafés in this area haven’t fared too well, but Bom Dough seems to be gaining traction after a slower start. Since this location is much closer to me than the original, I’ve been stopping by whenever I feel too lazy to make a healthy meal at home. I’m a huge fan of their salads—nothing creative or overcomplicated. Just a clean mix of arugula, tomatoes, avocado, and a seriously good mint-maple-lime dressing that ties it all together. Tried their Breakfast Gnocchi recently and was surprised. With poached eggs on top, it had the cozy vibe of a creamy shakshuka or a hearty tomato soup—comforting without feeling heavy. Also a big fan of their matcha lattes. Not sure what they do differently—maybe something with the syrup or the tea base—but flavors like Peach and Mother Earth were smooth, balanced, and satisfying.

Quaint (small) cafe to grab pao de queijo. They don’t have a lot of seating, and it was bustling when I visited for brunch on a Saturday. I grabbed a traditional pao de queijo and the Sunny stack sandwich on brioche. The pao de queijo was fine but room temp. The chewiness was great, but there wasn’t enough cheese flavor. The brioche sandwich was buttery. The avocado was creamy smooth which I really liked. The star was the happy sauce. It was full of flavor. It reminded me of Cane’s sauce in the best way. I was greedily scooping up sauce with my bread and was sad when I got to the bottom of the container. Overall a good meal. But I wish they had bigger portions.

A very cute but small space. Food looked and tasted very good. Staff were extremely friendly and happy to help and provide suggestions to someone who knows little to nothing abt Pao. I got the Crack chicken and the combination of the seasoning on the chicken with the cheesy goodness of the bread was 🔥

The food is just AMAZING! it was a busy Sunday morning… the crew was very nice. Everything tasted delicious, a highlight for the pão de queijo with doce de leite and the mocha! I wish it wasn’t so pricey so we could go more often.

BEST MATCHA EVER! 💚 I love a good Matcha & this place has set the bar so high that I'm not sure they can be beat. My wife & I also ordered a waffle & an Acai bowl. Everything was delicious, the wait was minimal. We sat outside to enjoy the nice fall day.

i can only imagine that this pao de quiejo is a childhood dish of many and that they are brought back to the past when they have this. food was lovely, coffee was good too! wish i tried the matcha but i stuck with good old latte and i think it still delivered, especially for the price :)

Excellent, Brazilian cheesy bread. 🥖 atmosphere isn’t as cute as the location in Inman Square. But it’s still excellent to have this in the neighborhood.

I had the Salmon Royal Benedict with a Mother Earth Matcha Latte at Bom Dough, and both were excellent! The food was fresh and flavorful, and the matcha was amazing—rich and tasty. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. My only suggestion would be to upgrade the cutlery, as it felt a bit like the budget ones you might find at TJ Maxx. Other than that, everything was fantastic!
