This is the second visit to Bom’s restaurant on a rainy Monday evening. Walk-in was accepted and they sat us at a table right by the glass wall overlooking the street with a very nice view. Nice ambiance. Nice and courteous staff.
We ordered 2 different set menus as we want to cover most of the food selection there this time.
Most of the appetizers were good with interesting flavors. The Nhatrang snails( i didn’t remember the correct name of the dish) was the exact copy of the French’s escargot.
The disappointment came in with the entree. Advertised as A4 wagyu, the steak was bland, chewy with no fat at all. I have never tasted any A4 wagyu like this in my life, it’s more like local beef. Was they misleading?
Then came the dry aged duck. The duck meat could be more juicy, & flavor. It was also bland and dry, the dish left no memories at all. My wife didn’t even want to finish it.
Deserts were a bit pull back. But not enough to make us think we should come back here again.
When telling the waiter about the foods, no replacement nor compensation was offered. I understand this is not a common practice in Vietnam. But for a fine dining restaurant whose price ranges and target customers might not be for the locals, something needs to change seriously for this restaurant to reach the next step.
