Just watched a movie and Bombay coast was open late. Got the chicken Masala and lamb shank. Both were very good . If you don’t like spicy just order mild. I went medium and it was too much for me but bearable.

They have the best samosas with mint chutney. Both the turkey and the potato are delicious. Sure, the mint chutney is a neon green, but it's good During the summer, the area outside has free music and bands. I wish they'd do a better job at advertising. Bring your lawn chair and water and snacks and dance and meet people. There is a public restroom the restaurants share at the end of a long hallway. The women's room has two stalls, one sink is out of service It's well lit, but creepy. I'd walk with a friend. The men's restroom is to the left. Pretty clean. I wish there was a hook for a purse. I had to hang my purse on the corner of the door. I'd be great if they had consulted with a woman about this first.

Google
I really enjoyed the food. We ordered a 3 entry combo and special lamb. The portions are large so we automatically get our lunch for the next day. Highly recommend the lamb and chicken. The lamb is soft and the yellow curry chicken has a great coconut flavor. I was here a few years ago, and they refreshed my impression of bombay coast as they did better than the bombay coast at UCSD (now closed). It's great that the food quality is still high after many years.

Google
One of my favourite places in San Diego. Comfortable and lowkey ambiance and great service. Everything on the menu is wonderful - this is a great place to try new things and learn about different dishes. My favourites include the cauliflower, chicken roganjosh, paneer saag, and ras malai. Great vegetarian and vegan options, and nuts/dairy are clearly marked on the menu Update: maps suggested an update so I wanted to add that we still go here regularly and have never had a bad meal! They have a new eggplant chaat that's fantastic too

Google
We had an amazing dining experience, trying both the vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals, and were pleasantly satisfied with everything. The dishes were flavorful and perfectly cooked, offering a great variety of tastes. The owner was incredibly friendly, adding a warm and welcoming touch to our visit. Overall, a delightful experience.

Google
We order from here regularly and think it’s a great neighborhood spot! I picked up take out tonight and randomly chatted with the owner and mentioned that months ago some of our order was missing (common experience with door dash). Without question he made the dish that was missing 6 months ago and added it to our order. Already deserving 5 stars for making great food, I thought I should share my experience. Support local businesses!

Yummy food, great service, nice decoration! Food: perfectly spiced! quality food! Service: waitress went above and beyond to accommodate our request in addition to being attentive and helpful! Nice decoration: photographs and displays presented a history and story of East Indian cuisine. The murral on the wall is beautiful!

This place is so great - from the food, to service, and price. Love the combo entree options. Will definitely return!

Yelp
Happen to check out their Bombay section of the menu and it got me curious! I've eaten a decent vada pav in the US and am always on a search for a good one but a good pav bhaji has always evaded me! Till now! This is a review of only the stuff I ate - which is not typical Indian restaurant in the US stuff. I'll definitely go back to have some entrees and update the review then. Kheema pav - Damn near perfect. The touch with the sali gives you a nostalgic trip to an irani cafe in Bombay. Vada Pav - Almost as good as ive eaten in this country. One suggestion to elevate it is adding the powdered garlic chutney to it! Wanted to get some from home and add it to make it perfect! Pav bhaji - After a long time I got something that resembles the Bombay pav bhaji in look and taste. We ordered it medium but it was decently spicy. The pavs were also toasted and buttered to perfection. Id gladly come back to this place once in a while just for these 3 but I'm very curious now about the rest of their menu especially since there are very atypical options compared to the typical Indian restaurant.

Yelp
Bombay Coast is the best Indian restaurant I have ever been to. Indian cuisine is my all time favorite and it just does not get better than this. Any time I find myself in San Diego, Bombay Coast is a MUST. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and their food is even amazing to go. Chef Z is phenomenal and works hard to create not only the incredible menu, but the environment as well. He has been at the restaurant, hard at work, every time I have joined. He takes special care to connect with his guests and makes you feel at home. Service is always as impeccable as the food. My partner and I's favorite are the mango chicken masala, meat samosa, and garlic naan. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!!! Side note: The Butcher N Cheese is great as well. I'm obsessed with the fig jam and goat cheese jar.

Yelp
Best Indian food in San Diego. You can not go wrong with this place especially at lunch time. The service is always great and the quiet peaceful atmosphere is consistent. I love this place and always will. If anyone is ever unsure what they want to eat this is the place I recommend. There is truly something for everyone and I can taste the love and quality ingredients in my food. My stomach and heart feel full every time I eat here. Thank you Bombay Coast.

Christiana D.

Yelp
great food loved it we devoured it! The garlic naan was good but wasn't as stretchy or fluffy as I have had in the past. We did take out, everything was nice and hot.

Lynn R.

Yelp
Excellent lamb curry with four huge pieces of crispy and chewy naan bread and rice and salad and a veggie samosa . Perfect meal for after a movie and sitting on the patio beside the fountain on a warm summer eve. Great service, succulent food and fun people watching ! I'm becoming a regular. Excited to try the lamb shank next time!!

Liz G.

Yelp
Grabbed lunch at Bombay Coast today! I always spend way too much because everything is amazing! The owner is really kind and welcoming. He was really communicative about the kitchen being busy when we ordered and he kept us updated on the wait time even though we didn't ask. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Today there was an open chutney bar, which was a nice touch. I ordered black daal and aloo yellow curry from their vegan menu, and my husband had karahi chicken. We also had samosas and chili garlic naan. The portions are generous and the food has great flavor.

Darcie J.

Yelp
The food here was absolutely fantastic and the service was great! It's tucked away in an unsuspecting little strip mall but the restaurant itself is a gem!

Kim D.

Yelp
This is probably one of the best Indian foods I have had, everything tasted extremely fresh, just a right amount of proportion , my favorite was the ginger chicken & also amazing service which makes it worthwhile coming back.

Krajicek K.

Yelp
Yummy food, great service, nice decoration! Food: perfectly spiced! quality food! Service: waitress went above and beyond to accommodate our request in addition to being attentive and helpful! Nice decoration: photographs and displays presented a history and story of East Indian cuisine. The murral on the wall is beautiful!

Selena C.

Yelp
Food was bland, I can deal with that and add my own spices if need be. It's the naan that was bad. It's like the kind they sell at Costco, it was overheated in the microwave it was as so hard to chew I had to throw it away.

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Bombay Coast was one of the first places that I went out to eat at upon moving here many years ago, and it is my favorite Indian restaurant in San Diego! I even bought their cookbook for a friend as a housewarming gift in 2017 and she just loves the recipes. Staff is always wonderful and the food is always perfect! My boyfriend appreciates the good Indian beer options and I always love their mango lassi. I'm happy to see that the chutney station is back - it had closed at the onset of the pandemic. Will def have to try their sister restaurant Butcher & Cheese sometime soon as I've heard great things about that place, too

Naveen K.

Yelp
The Karahi chicken was horrible. 1. Tasteless/Bland 2. Chicken was rubbery 3. Naan was bad too Threw away the food. $24 wasted

Quinn L.

Yelp
Great Indian cuisine at an affordable price. Highly recommended. I love the samosas and chicken Tikka Masala.

Alyx Z.

Yelp
Decent Indian food with generous portions for the prices it was. Tried the saag paneer, chicken tikka masalla, and black daal, which were all robust and delicious. Picked up at the place was met with quick service, although the restaurant looked dark even during noon.

Sam T.

Yelp
One of the best Indian restaurants I have ever been to. The flavor, spice, and texture of the lamb shank was brilliant as the first bite will leave you wanting more. They have a bar for their sauces and yogurt as well which is highly recommended because it was so fresh. Combined with your dish, it was just amazing. The service was nice as the owner remembered my friend who showed me this place and even memorized his order in which he would say, "same order?" Super friendly, come support him and be amazed!

Noriko C.

Yelp
Service was outstanding. He was so attentive to our needs and was wearing several "hats". He was the host, cashier, server and busser! I don't know if he was the cook, too since we sat outside. Food: we ordered the 3 plate combo which was great for my husband and I. It came with rice and regular naan. We got mango chicken, yellow curry and yikes I forgot what the 3rd dish was. Oh and a side of garlic naan. These combo plates are the best way to get a sampling of several dishes when you are like us and can't make up your mind! Everything was very tasty and we can't wait to come back and try other dishes.

Rhonda F.

Yelp
The food was so tasty and fresh and delivery was fast tried a new item for me and I love it

Haresh G.

Yelp
Chef Zubin ji makes the best lamb biriyani and is a gentleman Bombay coast has a really good lunch special, daily

Amin B.

Yelp
My Fav Indian restaurant. I come here often for comfort food as its next to my home. And they offer mild options, which I prefer. This time I came for dinner at 8pm on a Saturday and got: Ginger chicken: really nice and fresh taste. A bit sweet but not too sweet. Comes with plain naan and rice and small salad. Cucumber yogurt: I ordered this to balance the heat and spice level. The yogurt has onion too. Mango lassi: Not overly sweet which is rare! Thank you. The place is simple and welcoming. Not dressy, but also not loud. I always feel relaxed. The owner and rest of staff are very kind and friendly. Food took about 10 minutes. Not bad at all for a Saturday night. Parking here is kinda rough because its next to other restaurants and a movie theatre. I wont complain because its a nice walk around after food.

Yoona L.

Yelp
Let me tell you. Bombay is my absolute favorite place to get Indian food in San Diego. They offer a combo where you can try 3 entrees that aren't lamb (I believe) and it's the perfect thing to try if you aren't sure what kinds of dishes you like yet. They offer a large amount of naan and rice with your entree! Their Konkan Prawn and Chicken Curry is my absolute favorite. I tried their Fried Garlic Cauliflower after almost missing out on it and my hands kept going to it! So glad we ended up ordering it. The servers are so kind as well! I am coming back all the time I just know it.

Gary B.

Yelp
food is authentic, cooked well, tasty and fresh. service is superb. the chief chef and owner Zubin is passionate about quality and service. for me it is easily the best indian food i have had in san Diego. will be back on my next trip.

Joseph S.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible food here nothing comes close to how tender and amazing the chicken is here. Something worth the value with great portions!! I highly recommend this restaurant as the owner is super friendly and owns a burger place three doors down! Great feeling walking in knowing im going to get great food and great service. Make sure to get the combination choice to really spread out ur options and the chicken tikka masala is to die for. The restaurant is super friendly and great for families friends or even just going in alone. My girlfriend and i go to eat in a bunch and love the lighting and music. Solid 5 stars from me.

Tiff H.

Yelp
COME GET YOUR LUNCH SPECIAL ON!! So much food and great flavor. Everything I ordered was fantastic. Half of it I didn't even know what to expect but when it came out boooy was I excited. Such an unsuspecting spot. Highly recommend!

Catalina G.

Yelp
The indian food here is pretty good. They always make the food pretty fast, within 10-15 minutes. The garlic naan is so delicious. We usually get the combo plate with mango chicken and chicken tikka masala. It's amazing. The service & the food is always consistent too. The only cons is the parking, sometimes it's hard to find parking in the lot. And they recently upped their prices so it's a little pricy.

Leila E.

Yelp
Just had an amazing dinner at Bombay Coast, filled with delicious flavors and excellent service! To start off we had the samosas which were huge, crispy, and fresh. The chutney it pored with was equally delicious. For the main I had the dinner combo with chicken vibdaloo, saag paneer, and tikka masala kabobs. Everything was phenomenal, came out hot, and was packed full of flavor. We also opted to upgrade to the garlic naan and got separate orders of an extra garlic naan and chili garlic naan, resulting in so much delicious naan-enough for plenty of leftovers. In terms of service this was one of the best experiences I've had at a restaurant in San Diego. The owner was very attentive to my friends dairy allergy and even allowed us to try several different curries before we decided on our final order. I cannot stress enough how amazing this place was and I cannot wait to be back soon. Not to mention Bombay Coast is only 10 minutes from the Ucsd campus!!!!

Gigi D.

Yelp
This restaurant had wonderful service and delightful food. Such a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Suneeta C.

Yelp
This place is great . They serve quality food at reasonable prices, and the service is always efficient. We generally order to go, but the location is great, and you can eat outside/ enjoy live music on weekends. I do not recommend the naan from this restaurant, but everything else is fantastic!!

Kaleend D.

Yelp
Hidden gem near SeaWorld!! Went there after seeing some online pictures of items, and ended up loving the food. We tried the Paneer Patia, it was really good. A new twist to the traditional appetizers we also tried the Samosa(thanks Yelp) and it was nice and crispy with the right spice levels For maincourse we tried the Paneer Karahi and the Paneer yellow curry, and were very good Karahi was on the spicy side and the Yellow curry on the sweet side balancing it out well The garlic naan, cheese naan and chilli garlic naan were all spot on Lastly for dessert, tried the gulab jamun, it was served at the right temperature and tasted pretty good too!! And to top it off, the tea was fragrant and flavorful too. I would definitely recommend this place in an instant!

SoCalGal D.

Yelp
This is the best Indian Food in San Diego! I always try something new when I eat here and I'm never disappointed! Everything is delicious and fresh. I went there for lunch with my mom and two little dogs one day and when we were done with our meal I asked for a To-Go box. An employee came out to drop off the box and saw that I had my hands full with my mom who uses a walker and the dogs and offered to help walk us to my car. I realized later that was the owner. This says a lot about how he runs his business and treats his customers!

Allyson S.

Yelp
Food is always good and the owner is super nice. My favorite is the lamb yellow curry.

Sue D.

Yelp
Walked into the restaurant to check out the inside. Right away, the owner asked me if he could answer any questions. Food: 4/5 Lunch Combo ($12.99) #1: Chicken Tikka Masala-- the flavor profile was timid, not as bold (full of flavor) as some other Indian restaurants. Mango Chicken Curry-- sweet and sour to the taste. Had a good flavor. Enjoyed the mango atop the dish. Saag Paneer-- creamy and flavorful. # 2: Chicken Tikka Masala-- quite modest and mild, light tasting and lacking intensity. Chicken Vindaloo Karahi Chicken Service: 3.5/5 Priscilla, our wait staff, walked over with the menu and asked if we wanted to order anything to drink. A few minutes later, she came to take our order. We needed chilly, had to walk up to the counter and asked for it. We needed to go box, had to walk up and asked for it as well. Likes: -Plenty of food to enjoy -Thick naan, doughy in a good sense -Attentive owner -Lunch entrees served in their own individual dishes -Three chioces of entrees instead of two Dislikes: None

Paul K.

Yelp
Just had a tasting of a dozen+/- dishes (both some of the most popular, standard, on-menu items, and some interesting/unusual off-menu, custom creations) in advance of ordering Bombay Coast for our wedding welcome party. The Mango Chicken, Ginger Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Sag Paneer, Samosa, and Gulab Jamun were just a few of my favorites. Every single dish though was absolutely delicious! By far the best Indian food we've had in San Diego,CA. Chef/owner Zubin Kolah could not have been more friendly, welcoming, and engaging. Please don't miss out on this one!

Vijay Ram R.

Yelp
Good chat items . Limited items for vegetarian. Good customer service. . I wish they had some tea for the weather. It was chilly outside. Will keep coming here.

Rock G.

Yelp
We come to visit this place from time to time, can definitely fill your craving for Indian food, we came at a Friday night, the food arrived less than 20 mins of ordering despite moderate number of people inside, the servers were very pleasant and efficient, most importantly the food tasted great!!! Definitely recommended will come by again to scratch that Indian food craving

Cindy D.

Yelp
Awesome spot to grab some lunch at the Square (does anyone other than me still call the Clairemont Square "the Square!?) They have a great lunch deal-- $14 for 3 different curries, rice, and 2 big pieces of naan! I really liked each of the curries I got. I was filled up after eating 2 of them, and was able to save a piece of the naan and one of the curries with rice for the next day. Would definitely go back after catching a flick at the theaters, or a long day of shopping at Burlington!

S L.

Yelp
The food and service is great. The owner/chef has always been there when I come to pick up. He is always friendly and I get a strong impression that he is passionate about his skills and restaurant.

Christina R.

Yelp
Lunch deal was great! For $20 including tax and tip, I got a platter of rice and seasoned cabbage/veggies plus 3 curries, one potato samosa, 4 different chutneys, 4 large pieces of garlic naan and a bottle of Perrier! I was absolutely stuffed and the flavors were pretty good. The mango chicken was interesting- full of large chunks of chicken breast and topped with fresh cubed mango. Similar to chicken tikka masala flavors. The vegetable korma was tasty as well. The eggplant baharta was my favorite tasting curry by far. The potato samosa was crispy and delicious with the extra chutneys I ordered at $0.25 each. I tried the spicy, mint, and tamarind which were all delicious- tamarind was my favorite. So basically I ate a lunch that could have fed 2 people by myself, lol! At $10 per normal person, that is a steal! Service was stellar and the staff were very polite and fast. There is lovely patio shaded seating so it's a great place to lunch, even in this heat wave.

Andrea L.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the lunch special at Bombay coast. Some of our favorites were the green chicken curry, chicken tikka masala, and the honey lemon chicken. I loved the salad that came along with it which had a great mustard dressing. The rice and naan were also simple but delicious!

Andrew G.

Yelp
We came in on a busy Saturday night. I was able to get a two item combo to try two curries which was pretty cool. I tried the the yellow curry and Baingan bharta. My favorite was the yellow curry. They also had chicken tenders for my picky kids. They have vegan entrees which I ordered but I'm pretty sure there was ghee in the bread and maybe the rice. That's not a big deal to me but vegans might want to be careful. Over all it was a nice dinner.

Judith E.

Yelp
Cute little place in a shopping center with indoor or outdoor seating. The lunch special for $13.99 is phenomenal. So tasty. It comes with your choice of 3 curries, salad and nan bread. Yummy yummy yum. And we received a free samosa for checking in via Yelp. The spices are fresh off the boat and the sauces simply delectable. Service was quick and friendly and the atmosphere quiet. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Brendan M.

Yelp
We've eaten here a handful of times and enjoyed it for sure. We just went for their 20th anniversary AYCE and it was great! The special event's buffet was perfect since we got to try so many dishes at once. Highlights include: Chicken Tikka Masala, Aloo Jerra, Vegetable Samosas, the incredibly tender Lamb Curry, their Cabbage Salad, and of course their fresh Naan is great. The mango drink they make is very sweet but also fresh and delicious; thicker like a smoothie almost. The staff is friendly and inviting as well. Great spot in the Square!

Ramesh K.

Yelp
We ordered shrimp popcorn, but the shrimp was not deveined, which is very unhygenic This is something that any restaurant should take care before cooking shrimp Never ordering again from here

Jay K.

Yelp
The food is not exactly authentic. Regardless it's unbelievably tasty, service is quick and ambience is reasonable. Highly recommend to eat the chaats and appetizers and not the normal stuff like nana though that's good too

Mary C.

Yelp
We came back after a few years and we had a very different experience, very positive this time. We ate there and thw food was excellent! I liked the chicken biriani and the 3 plate combo, with 3 different entrees - smaller portions. We will go back.

Shyam U.

Yelp
Second take out visit- First time I tried Lamb Roganjosh with Apricots, Never ever tasted almost "Gujarati style sweetness" Lamb curry rich in unique flavors. Second time today I got the Chicken Biryani... tasty very different from the usual Traditional Biryani taste, maybe it was a Parsi recipe? And the best was Mahi Mahi Koli curry with their Real Basmati rice ( not as great eating with Naan!) The Tsunami of flavors that burst my taste buds! I Exquisite! I would call Chef Zubin's Bombay Coast restaurant Authentic Indian Cuisine! As they cook the dish as it is supposed to be and Not ask whether you want the food mild, medium or Spicy!

CHi C.

Yelp
First, the service is excellent. The price point is decent and the lunch menu seems like a good deal. The food, however, leaves a lot to be desired. It's bland and generally lacking in flavor (applies to all six curries tried). I agree with the yelp reviewer who called it "diluted". I really wanted to like this restaurant but can't. The mango lassi was the nest part of the meal.

Julie B.

Yelp
Love the food, flavors and personalized service from owner/chef Zubin, we have never been disappointed. Their Chicken Masala, Chicken Yellow Curry and Chicken Tikka Kabobs, all of their curries are so rich and flavorful. Try a combination so that you can taste more than one. Tonight my husband tried the lamb for the first time and raved about it. Their garlic Naan is also a must!

Vin S.

Yelp
Bombay Coast serves some pretty yummy Indian food. I have eaten here couple of time lately. One time was take-away (due to Covid) and the other was outside dining (again, due to Covid) in their patio area. I think I would rather dine inside, because the atmosphere in the patio area is not that great, and home is, well, home. That said, I am a Bombay Coast fan. My favorite dish is their Bhindi Masala, which is an Okra-based delight that is heavenly. Okra is fine, but its the spices that they use that are legitimately outstanding. Meaning that Bombay Coast stands above it's peers, IMHO. I am going to need to come back once we get our lives back and have a fine dining experience indoors. Can't wait. (Just writing about this right now makes me hungry!)

Darwin G.

Yelp
Eh, the flavors here are not terrible but it feels a little watered down like they couldn't decide whether to go more buttery to cater to the american tastebuds or spicier to be more true to the native flavors.
