I thought this place was good a few months ago when it first opened -- I regret waiting this long to return. They are on a whole new level now!
This restaurant is an enigma -- nestled in between Gamestop and a gym in a shopping center is this seemingly fast-casual Indian takeout place. Au contraire! You can order from high-tech screens, the decor has a modern-industrial vibe, and the prices are very affordable. But that all distracts from the fact that Bombay Dhabba is the single most flavorful Indian cuisine I've tasted in Pennsylvania.
I went in with assumptions, but upon my first scoop of Lamb Rogan josh sitting upon with delectable Garlic Naan, my assumptions were shattered into a million pieces. There were distinct notes of garlic, ginger and fragrant masala spices, onion, and I think I tasted cloves, bay leaves, cardamom, and cinnamon. They add tomatoes to the Rojan josh to suit the Western palate, but hey, I'm a suburban kid from PA, I'm not complaining -- I love it!
I also had the mixed Veg Pakora which are veg fritters deep fried in chickpea batter. They were delicious, they weren't oily like most Pakoras I've tried, and they paired perfectly with housemade mint chutney, Raita, and Tamarind sauce (which they make with dates!).
Last, I tried the Mango Lassi which was super refreshing, flavorful and had a great creamy consistency. Actually, I lied! I also got the Rasmalai, which is a dessert made from sweet milk patties which dipped in cardamom flavored milk with and crushed pistachio -- it was like a Tres Leches cake filling and absolutely divine!
If you like Indian food then do yourself a favor and go here, it's top-notch.
