A College Student’s Guide to Campus Dining at Oregon State University | Eater Portland

"On the west end of Monroe I go to Bombs Away Cafe for a lively spot with good food, live music, and a tequila bar; their Southwestern wet burritos drenched in smoky roja sauce stand out, and themed music nights keep the space energetic and fun." - Mariah Botkin

Gabe is the absolute best bartender who has ever served me. The vibes are immaculate, as are the drinks. Promote this man!

Loved this place! Would def revisit it I lived closer! Perfect vibe for a meal with a friend, family or by yourself. I’m v inspired by the wall mural. Tried the blue cheese bowl with tofu and the burrito and both were great. Very flavorful. Super friendly staff.

Came here to listen to some sick vinyl beats with my bestie on Saturday 5.24.25. We went to the back to order our food and drinks it was about 10:30pm. Whoever the bartender was, she was killin it. She had amazing service and made amazing drinks. She was very kind and vibed well with the atmosphere. Our tacos were so good and came out quickly! (:

Google
Great food and live music! Don’t let the appearance fool you. It may look like a crusty punk bar that serves tacos, but it does both of things exceptionally well.

Google
Great tacos, including legitimate vegan options. Cocktails were also great, and the beer selection was better than most we tried in the area. I'm giving it 4 stars because I'm reviewing it specifically as a restaurant. As a bar to come to when the band is in full swing, probably 5 stars. Just depends on what experience you're looking for. We went for dinner and the vibe was not ideal for that. Granted, we came in a little late (maybe 8pm) so they were maybe moving towards the nightlife/bar atmosphere. Why it wasn't a 5-star dinner experience was that there was a band playing 30 seconds of a song about every two or three minutes for a good hour we were there. My guess is they were warming up, but it was jarring to go between super loud music then abrupt silence shortly thereafter. The seating was also very limited to accommodate the dance/stand-and-bob-your-head floor. Still a very good experience overall and I'd come again.

Google
The “queso” was terrible. Tasted like rotten cashews. The server was rude as well-ordered food, waiting to pay and server said “may I help you!?!” Rudely…I replied “umm I just needed to pay still”. She replied “oh I forgot”. No apology for the sharp tongue. Literally though, never tasted queso this terrible

Yelp
Late night, all the locals say go to Bombs Away, live music, good food... so we made the drive. When we walked in, it was filthy (like it was rode hard and put away wet!), loud music that was a Techno DJ set, spinning to barely three people dancing... Not a soul was in there... nobody eating... drinking... JUST A RUN DOWN, & DIRTY spot! Quite literally walked in, looked around and walked out! All these nice reviews... WTH happened between 7-10 months ago and now?!

Yelp
I have been to this place at various times, afternoon, evenings and late at night. Very friendly staff, always willing to answer questions and help to find the correct answer versus just guessing when having a question about ingredients and preparation. Food is good and portions are worth the price. Had the basket of chicken tenders and personally I thought it was great. They weren't heavy on the batter and chicken wasn't dry, their hamburger even just a basic one was still pretty filling and me and the wife really enjoyed the nachos. The bar is great and their bartender amanda is very friendly easy to chat with and served some good margaritas. Overall I and my wife enjoyed our visits coming to eat and drink and look forward to making more stops and putting Bombs away Cafe on our list of regular places to eat at. *there is vegan options and dietary sensitivity options but haven't explored that side of the menu, we have kids with dietary issues, so we plan to check that out next time. HOWEVER speaking with some of the staff if notified at order they will do their best to help limit the cross over and handling of your food if need be.

Yelp
We had a group of 7 today. Had a fantastic time. Our food was amazing! Drinks were so delicious. Everyone in there was so nice. Loved the vibe. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
We had gymnastics tickets at Gil Coliseum so hopped into Bombs Away for a small bite. It was busy and you ordered your food at the bar. We ordered the chicken and chorizo tacos, tater tots, sunshine bowl and a beer. The tacos were yummy-I ordered with the beans and tortilla extra wrap. This was a good move! The tots were super crunchy - loved them! It was kinda cold inside but we were sitting near the door as there weren't any other tables open. Overall quick service, good food in a super casual environment.

Yelp
BOMBS AWAY!!! So to just get to the point. YOU WANT TO COME HERE!!! South western food that tastes AMAZING!!! Menu is not complicated but has a great assortment of yummys on it!! I had the chicken enchiladas and also needed to try a shredded pork taco. Both were VERSATILE DELICIOUS!! Portions were great and the price was absolutely right. The atmosphere was very welcoming from the staff right up to and including all my fellow patrons!!! Some of which offered great advice on my drink selection!!! This is a MUST eat at stop and I strongly encourage you to stop on in and grab a drink and some yummys!!! Btw. FREE COFFEE!!! Hey. You can't go wrong!!!

Yelp
Bombs Away is such a cute and quirky spot conveniently located across from the OSU campus. This is the perfect spot to share a drink with some friends, or enjoy a late night meal. I enjoyed a very tasty quesadilla with some great local beer, and my partner enjoyed a hamburger with delectably crispy fries. The cafe advertises live music on the weekends, and there is indoor and outdoor seating. There is a very divey Southwestern vibe about this place, which definitely adds to its charm. I particularly love the area near the bar, which has plants hanging from a shelf above. The menu has many different options, including staple TexMex dishes, as well as burgers, salads, and bar food. Staff are friendly and keep the restaurant clean. I look forward to returning - hopefully to experience some live music!

Yelp
Great stop for drinks, food and live music in Corvallis. Friendly, helpful staff and a good local atmosphere.

Yelp
This was my second time at this place and while my first time was alright at best and this second time was absolutely horrible. The staff was rude, mean, and totally inconsiderate. My two hometown best friends were in town and we went up to the bar for a drink. The bartender was a Middle Aged man who was most likely bald but wearing a costume top hat. He was already visibly annoyed when I asked for a drink (even though it's his job ?). When I gave him MY REAL CALIFORNIA ID which is valid and states that I AM LEGALLY 21 YEARS OLD !!!! He looked at it and almost immediately said "this is such bad photoshop"... he said this totally condescending and rude to me. I explained it was a real ID but he was on a power trip. Then, another middle aged white man who was speaking to the bartender before we ordered said to me "yeah .. no chance" as a way to insinuate he thinks I am underage as well. I do not know this man and he did not even get a glimpse of my ID at all. I was so embarrassed and disturbed by this interaction and before he could begrudgingly accept my ID as real (because it is) and still be rude. By that point I felt so disrespected I asked for my ID back and left. I will NOT be back to bombs away again at all. They facilitate their bartenders on rude power trips instead of handling situations as adults. As well as create judgmental environments where your bar peers will take any chance at also humiliating you if you look college aged. Like I am literally a fourth year in college.

Yelp
Bombs Away is my 2nd favorite bar in Corvallis. The $2 tequila shots cannot be beat and their food is danky. No hot dogs though.... so four stars. Fries were good and super hot. GN FALL TERM! PEACE AND LOVE!

Laura R.

Yelp
I was passing by yesterday and saw that they were offering free coffee. Entered and waited patiently behind a couple of customers ordering some cocktail or something; I didn't have to wait long before getting up to the bar, where I asked an individual (who I later overheard was the owner of the establishment) about the coffee and he pointed me towards the self-serve coffee table with a smile. Offered creamer fresh out of the fridge to go along with it. I tipped a dollar and went on my way. Today I came in with my boyfriend (who was tired and needed to sit down). We got a coffee each and I asked the owner if he minded us sitting down; he said no, go ahead. We sat down at a table and drank our coffees, then left. Service was 11/10 despite us not even being paid customers. I'm not sure how good the food or menu is, or the prices associated, but I will say that the service here was incredible. The same people will be there from one day to the next and will greet you with a smile even if they've seen you once before or a thousand times. Solid 11 out of 10.

Yelp
Best food and service around! They go above and beyond to exceed guest satisfaction. Bombs has been my go to place the last few years, and they always surprise me each time I go because of the quality service.

Yelp
Good food, had a great Sunday fried chicken dinner special. Only four stars because I learned the chef has no tattoos. For shame.

Yelp
I came here with a large group (8-10 people, we called ahead). I, as well as 3 others, ordered the blackened burger which was a bit expensive, but it's expected since this cafe sits right across from campus. Burger was cooked too long. I understand that it's a 'blackened' burger, but it was cooked to the point of being pretty dry. Fries are pretty good though. My reason for a 1 star review is that my food came out REALLY late. Literally after my entire group had finished their meals, my burger came out. So at this point, my entire group is waiting for me to finish my burger... which had just arrived. During the wait, I reminded the register that I had ordered a burger. They told me that they knew and that it was still coming. All in all, it took them over 30 minutes to get me a burger! No reason given, it just took them a really long time to cook a simple burger. I'm not sure what happened, but it would've been nice to have been given a heads up. The other people who ordered the burger all received it at the same time, much earlier than I did. A burger and fries is not a spectacular thing to make. In the time I waited, I could've gone somewhere else and gotten it sooner. Skip this place, service is bad and the food is overpriced. The only reason why this place hasn't closed yet is because it's located in a high-traffic location

Yelp
Bombs is so amazing. Delicious food, fun atmosphere, and a very clean restaurant all add to the great Bombs Away experience.

Yelp
Bombs Away is probably my favorite bar so far in Corvallis. It's right off of campus, which makes it perfect for a delicious quesadilla, plate of nachos, or bowl for lunch or dinner. They also have an amazing night scene with a variety of live music-- very unique and funky vibe that also translates into the decor. Best mojito I've ever had (and only $4!!) & some other dope drink deals like Margarita Mondays & $2 beers/tequila shots on Tuesdays. The service is also excellent every time I go and I really enjoy how kind the employees have been.

Akina G.

Yelp
Currently visiting Oregon and having lunch at Bombs Away as I type. The waitress is very friendly and helpful. The art on the the wall is nice as well as the atmosphere and ambiance. We ordered quite a bit of food and it's quite tasty.

Mariah F.

Yelp
Customer service and atmosphere is awesome. Food is a bit disappointing and overpriced. They'll charge you $2 for a fourth cup of salsa on the side. You can get relatively cheap beer though.
google avatar

Yelp
I came here for lunch today and was surprised at how quiet it was - Yay! Spring break empty campus = zero wait on Monroe restaurants. I'm down for it. The lunch menu was broken down by price - v efficient. Sections for $6, $7, and $8. Of course. There was also the specials menu to choose from, although that was pricier. But obvi fancier. I went for a $7 sizzling salad, plus grilled chicken(+$2). The salad was mostly romaine with some bomb corn salsa. Underneath was a dank ass cheese enchilada(?) thing. The sizzling salad was served with some avocado salad dressing that was slightly spicy and delicious as hell - sell me that in a bottle. Would have appreciated some more variety of greens on the salad, but the form it came in was excellent as well.

Yelp
We are visiting from Seattle and our family referred us to Bombs Away. The food and service were both great. Wet Burrito and the bowls were delicious.

Yelp
Stopped by this weekend and there have been a lot of changes. The back bar has been remodeled and looks great. The artist that did the murals in the bathrooms did a wonderful job. The addition of the outdoor dining especially in the back alley is really cool. The wet burrito is to die for.

Yelp
Thank You! Saturday night live 7/17 Bombs Away ! Nothing short of a Lady Gaga performance. Till next time, Cheers to Side Hustle's amazing lead vocalist!

Yelp
Been coming here since I was a kid, and I now have the pleasure to participate with the venue aspect there. A crucial part of almost every suicide scene in Corvallis, and their food is BOMB

Yelp
I came here tonight with my friend of mine who came back from Japan finally after having her flight being rerouted and all this crazy nonsense that took her almost a day to get back to Corvallis. I didn't really feel like making dinner so I mentioned to her to get something to eat at Bombs Away since I was feeling Mex/Tex-Mex food. It was very empty at 7pm and I had thought it was strange that their "Open" sign wasn't on but we went in anyway and seated ourselves. Our waitress greeted us asking what we would like to drink other than water. I ordered a Mango margarita and Keiko just stuck with the usual water. She wasn't feeling too hungry since she was jet lagged like crazy and ate a little bit before coming to dinner oh well it's okay. She wanted dessert instead (hey, i'm not stoppin her). The menu has a lot of variety, tex mex dishes, a half page of hamburger options with tex mex mixed in, and traditional stuff the had conjured up. Their margaritas are sooooo good and worth it! Mine came in a pint glass! woooo! (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/EWWd1bXz6NVpR9iOY0342Q?userid=wyLm8AaiqiNflGed8GsbNA) I ordered the Confit Duck enchilada Verde that was locally raised filled with corn, garlic, cliantro, red onions, tomatoes, and with a side refried beans. The enchilada was doused in green salsa and broiled cheese. MmMmM yummmm. Keiko had ordered the Bread pudding with caramel sauce and that looked pretty good. Unfortunately I wasn't able to snap a photo of the bread pudding since she just dove right in. I thought it was funny but she thinks I'm weird that I document what I eat. Oh wellll. My stomach was happily full after tasting the delicious duck enchilada. The flavors had meshed so well and I couldn't really find anything wrong with it besides the refried beans drying up a bit after I finished my enchilada. The only downside to this was that they had a solo performer but there was only about 8 people in this restaurant when she began singing. I wished they had toned the volume down, I mean this isn't a raging concert afterall.

Yelp
Bombs away is one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants. The wet chicken burrito with Xmas sauce (red & green) is AMAZING!!

Yelp
Once upon a time 30 years ago this place was the bomb. Now it's an overpriced gut bomb after being decimated by the nuclear engineering faculty who took it over. I won't go again after consistent disappointments in menu selections, food quality, and service.
google avatar

Drea R.

Yelp
Sadly, this establishment doesn't have the best customer service. Tried this place with our entire family, kids included, and they have no kids menu. Ended up ordering the snac mac for my 4 year old after being assured it wasn't spicy. It was too spicy for him. We were all in the middle of our meals and had nothing to give him to eat, so we walked next door and got him a slice of pizza, and brought it back so he could eat. We were promptly told we could not bring in a single slice of pizza due to their policy. We ended up leaving over $150 worth of food because my toddler was unable to eat a slice of pizza in the restaurant. Bad call on management. Get a kids menu and maybe I'll try again someday.

Yelp
Nice hole in the wall restaurant. Often have live bands and can get tight when they do. There is a bar in the back that is a fun place to hang out.
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
So disappointing! After being huge Bomb's fans for decades our latest trip was a big shock. The staff was very nice and accommodating but the food is no longer Bombs Away food. After long considering this one of the best restaurants in town neither of us ate more than a few bites of our meal. Many of their classic dishes are now gone and what used to be simple and fresh burritos and tacos were pale impersonations of their former selves. A sad day in Corvallis for sure.
google avatar

Kendra R.

Yelp
"Wanna be Hipster Mexican" This is seriously some of the worst food I've ever had. The chips were stale and my flautas were soft and rubbery. I also did not like the salsa that they brought out with it. The salsa verde was extremely spicy and kind of yogurty. My entire dish was clearly microwaved tortilla with cheese in the middle. I got the Sizzling Salad and I would highly not recommend it. I was pretty drunk and you know food is bad when you don't want to eat it when you're wasted on Marg Monday. The Margs were the best part of the dinner but totally not worth the 43 bucks! Pretty disappointed with this place and will definitely not be returning when I am hungry.
google avatar

Yelp
TL;DR - 3.5, tasty food with a decently spacious dining area, kind of pricey, and busy during the lunch hour! _____________________________ I was heading to get Thai food next door, but then realized they're cash only and I only had a card on me. Whoops. Anyway, I wasn't really feeling "Tex-Mex" and "seafood" like Bombs Away was labeled as on Yelp, but ended up going in anyway because I didn't want pizza. I ended up grabbing a burger with fries, which I ate while reading a book since it was relatively quiet at first, and then was on my way! FOOD Cajun Asado Burger - pretty good and decently sized! I was nice and full after eating the whole burger with the fries (I thought about a salad, but it just wasn't appealing since it was so cold outside). The burger wasn't amazing, but had good flavor with the peppers, onions, and cheese! I'm not sure the Asado sauce made much of an impact - I can't remember it. The fries were a tad too salty, but good. SPACE I got in around 11:30, and there were 3 other people inside. There are plenty of tables though, with an additional area in the back past the restroom (maybe more of the bar??), and by 12:00 or 12:15, the place was filling up so that it was full by the time I took off. SERVICE I didn't interact with them much, but they were friendly and quick!

Yelp
Bombs Away Cafe is a popular student hangout- it's right across the street from the OSU campus. They have a great selection of burritos&enchiladas, and since this is Oregon, there are tons of vegan/vegetarian menu items. Their portions are filling. They used to have a great duck chimichanga. Yes, there was "chimichanga time!" before Deadpool. They have delicious chips&salsa, great lunch specials, and fairly ample parking since it's kind of downtown. Fun little spot.

Mallory W.

Yelp
Food was good and reasonably priced. Took a while to get my food considering the lack of people eating at the time.

Josh G.

Yelp
New management for a while. Too much has changed and not in a good way. Dang. It's sad.
google avatar

Paul A.

Yelp
The food was very good. Atmosphere was good but drafty on the evening we visited. Service was good. One thing stood between a solid 4 star review, it was that my family was assessed a 20% automatic gratuity. For a casual dining place, I feel pretty strongly that a family group of 6 (4 kids) should not be assessed an auto gratuity. I hope they change their policy.

Yelp
Bombs Away is A-OK. It's definitely a popular music venue, but until my most recent visit I had only ever come during the day, for the food. I remember the food being pretty good, interesting Mexican food with a Corvallis twist. Never my favorite restaurant to visit, but neither was it my least favorite. My most recent visit was around 11:00 p.m. on a Saturday night, when the music was in full force. It's clear that Bombs has its favorite crowd, and they were all there this evening, sitting at the many tables in the oddly dark and kind of cold main seating area, facing the stage, where I'm pretty sure some sort of open mic event was happening. We went first to the back, where the bar is located, and it was much warmer and brightly lit back there, and tables were populated with groups of people chatting. I ordered a beer that was only $2.50, and my boyfriend had a cider. Both solid drinks, for a good price. Definitely a fun bar and music venue, especially if you're into local bands and not-too-expensive drinks.

Yelp
Friday Feb. 19th around 1pm I flew up to Oregon for the wk end to be wit my gf, especially since it was her bday! She had no clue and watching her pull up on her bike into her apt parking lot was awesome. She was fumbling for her fone as i called her and was standing a few feet away! Her face was PRICELESS. After being reunited wit my love, we were very hungee. I had no idea wat i wanted to eat but needed to eat before i passed out since i didn't have breakfast or lunch yet. I ended up getting a smothered burrito http://static1.px.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/lObkezbL3usxR9vTvivq4Q/l. The unique thing about this burrito is that you can decide what you want your burrito smothered in, the choices were: .Terminator Green Chili Stew, Chicken Gumbo, or Tortilla Soup I went for the Chicken Gumbo and it tasted awesome! I would have never thought to smother a burrito with soup! the mix of the two different flavors made for even better burrito. I will be back to try more of their dishes!

Yelp
Oh Yes! Bombs Away is the Bomb! We come here 2-3 times a month. Just found a lunch special ticket... Get 1 Item from the $6-$7-$8 Lunch Menu for $5.00. Found it in the Advocate paper. We will be going next week for sure! Great place for vegetarian as well as regular items. The vegetarian wet burrito is our favorite. Many great selections. The Lemonade is wonderful and it comes with the entree. Can be crowded around lunch time but worth the crazy. If it's busy, may take time to get your food. However, that's what makes the eats great here. Food is fresh and local.
google avatar

Killer S.

Yelp
This rating's for the food only - some of the drinks looked killer and the beer is cheap. I had a burrito here the other night and it was a bit of a letdown. It was advertised as a 'double' but what came out was rather scraggly looking and not all that appetizing. The chicken inside was dried out, the sauce was watery, and the rice was really bland. If I hadn't been starving I might've gotten a take-out box and incorporated it into my dog's diet later that night. The lady had a big plate of the house nachos which were much better than my burrito. Maybe I just guessed wrong.

Christo B.

Yelp
This used to be a nice lunch spot with good food at a reasonable price. It's now under new ownership and the food is a lot more expensive and the quality has plummeted. Some of the food arrived cold, none of it was tasty, and all of it overpriced. Not going back.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I paid a brief visit to Corvallis recently -- I'm a Beaver alum and I wanted to show him some of my old haunts. We ended up somewhat arbitrarily deciding to pay a visit to the Bombs Away Cafe, though I never visited the place much as a college student, finding it a bit on the overpriced-and-mediocre side. Turns out the menu has changed dramatically -- and strangely. While there is a huge expansion of tasty vegetarian options, there are also a few Cajun dishes at this mostly-Mexican restaurant. None of us ended up ordering in that direction. I was pretty happy with my tempeh-chorizo burrito (which wasn't quite what I was in the mood for, but I was happy to try) and I think my boyfriend and our friend were pretty happy with what they ordered. The place would get another star if the waitress hadn't seemed both a little clueless and a little irritated when my friend asked her about vegan options. It's not THAT crazy a question when your vegetarian menu is a whole page long, and if you work in a restaurant in a West Coast college town, you ought to at least know what the word "vegan" means, amiright?
google avatar

Ryan B.

Yelp
At Bombs Away, that Tex/Mex label is a bit misleading, as many foodies know that New Mexico-styled foods should often be in their own category. It's not too often you find a place that can master that sort of taste profile (outside of Santa Fe or ABQ) but Bombs Away has it mastered. Enchiladas with christmas-blend chili (both red and green for the uninitiated) is a fantastic entree. Dispel any concept of an Aztecs-type enchilada and use this as your benchmark from now on. Same thing for the tamales-- these are just as fresh as if you bought them that day from a local family. If you're not a huge fan of spice, you might want to skip the standard chips and salsa. Bombs Away does this right as well, with the same NM concept-- salsa with a red chile base, not a tomato base. I'm still surprised that idea hasn't caught on elsewhere. Beer list is fantastic (mostly Oregon brews but a few good Washington taps as well), and the service is very attentive. One tip: if the front of the house (by the stage area) seems to be a bit too hectic for you, head to the left and chill in the back bar, much easier place to enjoy the great food and drink.
google avatar

Dawn C.

Yelp
Bombs Away deserves an update, and unfortunately it's not going to be a move in the positive direction. The Duck Chimichanga? Gone, as are most of the skilled-chef qualities that I used to associate with this place. Turns out, there was a change in ownership a few years back and there's not much evidence of the original business left. The food is not much more than watered down versions of "Am-Mex" cuisine. It seems like there's still hope for Bombs as a late night hangout or an occasional music venue. Unfortunately for them, I know of a bunch of other Corvallis haunts where I'd rather spend dinner time.

Yelp
I'm usually hesitate to give 5 stars but... I've been here for lunch a handful of times and it has been "good". Tonight I had dinner at the bar. I kept my expectations in check but took the bartender's advice and ordered the steak special, at 18.00, the most expensive thing on the menu. Tho she also recommend the 10.00 pasta just as enthusiastically. Having lived in Corvallis for about a year I discovered the a decent steak, properly cooked is rare Pokémon in this town. The steak was perfectly cooked medium rare and of a quality much higher than expected. I ate it all and felt excited about the next special I would try. Worth every nickel.

Yelp
Bombs likely thrives due to it's location (It's one of only two semi-adult, non-take out lunch/dinner places across the street from the OSU campus). I suspect if it was downtown (or especially in a non-college town), it would have went under years ago. The food is mediocre. The ambiance is old and tired looking. The wait times for your food are often long and random (It's not uncommon to see tables sat long after you getting their food first.) And the prices ok-ish. Bombs is, in a word, convenient. Oh...and I've never gotten sick eating there....I guess that's a plus as well?

Yelp
GREAT Mac'n cheese! Awesome specialty menu items. Service is fairly good as well. They have a relaxed atmosphere during non-busy "(happy") hours.

Yelp
My husband's family, and a lot of his friends, reside in Corvallis - and I had the pleasure of eating here during my most recent visit last week. DO NOT MISS IT if you are visiting Corvallis. The food is excellent, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. They have an impressive selection of beers on tap, and lots of great specials throughout the week. When I was there they were having a $2.00 Margarita special. Yum! I ordered the goat cheese and spinach quesadilla - and it was to die for! Fresh and well prepared. My husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich, and it was amazing! Their house bbq sauce is some of the best I have EVER had. We also tried their potato - leek soup, and it was comforting and delicious. Definitely try it if they have it when you are there! Spread the word - Bombs Away is some of the best, if not THE best, food in Corvallis.

Yelp
Bomb's Away Cafe is not your typical college dive bar, it has a surprisingly large menu and good rotating beer selection. Bomb's advertises itself as a Mexican restaurant, but this is misleading. It does have "Mexican" style food of taco's, burritos, and the typical rice and beans; but by far it has some of the best vegetarian food and burgers in the city. Bomb's has the BEST lunch special you can find in the city with a wide variety of items from their dinner menu but for only $5. Bomb's does have a full bar, and a decent Oregon wine selection, but if you're a beer nut, Bomb's has a good selection of hard to find regional beers. The front restaurant portion of Bomb's is also one of the only venues for live music in Corvallis. So look for bands to typically play on Wednesday through Saturday nights with both local and national talent stopping by.

Yelp
I'm a student in Corvallis, but I hail from San Jose, California. Naturally, I'm used to super authentic mexican food and I was disappointed when I came to Corvallis and the only burrito places I knew about were Qdoba or Chipotle. Which to me, are shitty chains that can't get burrito wrapping or how to prepare their rice right. Bombs Away is different. It prides itself in cheap beer and dope food. I would walk past this place and pray that I could stumble upon a fake ID or that I could turn 21 faster because at night this place is bumping. They have really good sounding bands come through and play there at night. So one day my boyfriend and our friends decided to go try it out. They don't claim that they have authentic Mexican food, but so far this is the best I've had. The people at the register immediately gave us their 5 dollar lunch menu which includes and entree and a drink. My boyfriend got the chicken flautas, and our friends both got the blackened burger. For me, however, I was pleasently surprised to see a lot of items as vegetarian, as I am one myself. I got the wet veggie burrito. We all agreed that it was the best 5 dollars we've ever spent. The burger was served on an onion bun with a giant slice of tomato and onion. Both of them loved it. My boyfriends flautas looked like the most authentic dish and he said he'd never eaten better flautas. My burrito was by far the biggest, taking up the entire plate. And it was filling, however, I recommend asking them to put some guacamole in there because it was solely black beans, brown rice (which rocks), cheese and lettuce. A little sparse for what I'm used to. This is a great place to get 2 dollar margaritas and a 5 dollar lunch. This place was definitely all that it's cracked up to be.

Yelp
Bomb's is awesome for 2 things: (1) $2.50 microbrews on Tuesday, and (2) $5 lunch menu. Since I work by this place, I take advantage of both a lot. That's not to say that's all they're limited to. Bomb's is what I like to call faux-Mex. Not in a bad way, it's just kinda the Americanized style of Mexican food. For $5, the food's well worth it. They also have a rotating dinner menu that has a whole host of other stuff of various styles. Almost everything from there has been pretty good from my experience. But I go more often for drinks than anything else. There's a small bar in the back, often it can be hard to find seating, but if there is, it's a nice place to hang out and drink. Bartenders are all very friendly, especially since I know most of em now, and they seem to have the same kinda rapport with a lot of customers which is always a good sign. On a whole, great place near campus, probably one of the better places to drink in Corvallis, even if it's not really a bar, and student-friendly prices.
