"Happy Valley might not be the first place banh mi-seekers might turn, but this strip mall bakery produces the soft, crusty baguettes favored by Lotus Kitchen and the soon-to-open Lua, so it’s legit. Banh mi choices range from the traditional like sliced, steamed pork roll to rosemary chicken. Takeout and delivery are available." - Krista Garcia

"The one thing the deli won’t be making themselves are the baguettes for banh mi; those loaves will come from Happy Valley’s Bon Baguette, the foundation for composed sandwiches and also the quintessential Vietnamese breakfast banh mi chao." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Google
Our new favorite Vietnamese place for a quick bite. BTW - its not just the baguette that are good; we really like the beef stew. The Pho is great as well.

Google
The bahn mi I had was awesome! The owner was working and she was very kind and helpful, as some of the items on the list she explained very well but in the end I went with her recommendation of the BBQ pork! The atmosphere is bright and welcoming I can't wait to come back!!

Maggie Benware

Google
Went for the first time today and it was the best bahn mi I've had! The bread was amazing and the veggies were super crisp and fresh. The bubble tea was a little too sweet for me but maybe that was just the kiwi flavor I got. I really appreciate that they have both Asian and European sandwiches depending on what you're in the mood for.

Google
Great food with great price 👍 $6 for a delicious big banh mi is something that you won’t find easily elsewhere

Steve Berry

Google
My first sandwich was excellent, but this time there was very little inside the sandwich. Very disappointed. The baguette, however, was again crisp and tender.

Google
Bought the grilled beef banh mi today. A very good find. Perfectly made and very good. Thank You!!!

Dan Ross

Google
$7 for a sandwich loaded with good stuff! Great deal

The MagiShen

Google
You can get a very delicious Banh Mi starting from $6. I really appreciate this price point with this great quality of food, especially when other restaurants (including big and fast food chains) are just keep raising their prices nowadays. Very underrated place imho. My favorite is definitely any of their Banh Mi. This is just a guess, but I believe their bagguette is made in house; I can tell that they are very fresh. Their pork bun is also pretty good.

Kelvin Y.

Yelp
We enjoy purchasing Baguettes from Bon Baguette sold at Bui Tofu. The Baguettes are delicious and very affordable.

Tia J.

Yelp
This location has changed a little over the last couple of years. We stopped in today for bahn Mi sandwiches. Their bread and meats combined with the pickled veggies are so good!! They have many varieties of these sandwiches to choose from. They seem to have down sized the rest of their food menu option but have more bubble tea and boba options now. The people are always very friendly here and the place is always well kept and clean. Give them a try and support this small business.

Susiele K.

Yelp
The Banh mi from this restaurant is so good and it tastes authentic. I also loved the Vietnamese yogurt. 10/10 recommend Definitely coming here again!

Louise G.

Yelp
Beef stew - warm and hardy for a rainy day. Very tasty! Lots of beef and perfect with rice. I don't know why people would eat bread with stew ... but that's just me. Pork belly bowl - Could've done with out the sauce but it still was really yummy and satisfying. Grilled beef banh mi - really tasty (I know I said that about the last two items but I'm having a hard time with words today). Bread is fresh and not too crunchy that it hurts your mouth... so this is best eaten right after it's made. Maybe it would be soggy if it sat for a while so I'd recommend eating in for this. Lots of seating inside

Yelp
Took the recommendation for a watermelon tea with lychee jelly. It is out of this world so good. When I lived in the area I would come in for a bag of the fresh baked baguettes which are always a win! Also the customer service is always exceptional.

Ana A.

Yelp
Super friendly staff, quick service, and tasty food! I love everything they have here. Has such great flavor and always ready when promised. Parking can be an issue when coming on a weekend during busy hours. Nicely lighted and clean restaurant with seating space always available. One of my go to spots for sure!

Nick N.

Yelp
Decided to order the pate chaud with a regular order of other meat based products and lo and behold, I find this little guy. If you like spores in your food go ahead and eat here.

Ivan T.

Yelp
This is the best, without a doubt, Banh Mi shop in Portland. It took me a while to find this gem!

Ben S.

Yelp
I've been to this place a few times over the years. Ownership and the menu has changed at least 3 times but the service never changes (slow). There's never a line, but they will always find a way to make a sandwich in 15 minutes. I usually order the vegetarian nowadays which requires no meat to be cooked but rather throwing vegetables in a baguette. It also surprises me that they are out of multiple Boba tea flavors often considering the lack of customers they get. Also be mindful of their hours as they can close early depending on the day. Overall the labor is slow, the food is relatively alright, and you won't be missing much if you skip out on this place.

Vu M.

Yelp
Sandwiches are great. However, my orders were messed up on two different occasions. I brought it to their attention without any compensation or free sandwiches. Also, hardly an apology but an excuse that they may have been busy that day. So do go and order your sandwiches, but make sure you check your order when you pick up your food.

Tera E.

Yelp
I started going here because my daughter takes lessons at the art academy in the same area. I haven't tried anything else BUT I will always order the Teri Chicken Sandwich with extra cilantro. So so good. Very flavorful. For my drink I will order the lychee with boba and it's so refreshing. I recommend these two items. The taro drink is very good as well.

Carissa N.

Yelp
Love this place so much. Gotta get a Bahn Mi and a Vietnamese Coffee! The staff is so kind and make me genuinely look forward to coming back. Thanks for all you do!

R H.

Yelp
Grilled pork fat and gristle back in 2017. Grilled pork fat and gristle 2022. They continue to serve inedible Grilled pork sandwiches. Total waste of money.

Mila P.

Yelp
Such yummy breakfast sandwiches! So crunchy and perfectly salty. Def my new spot to go to! The bacon made it all the better :) We also got the Italian sodas which were good, they came in the sealed boba cups.

Grace M.

Yelp
I'm giving 2 stars because I didn't try their food. I couldn't get past the poor environment & lack of European selection. My plan was to meet here with a friend so I asked for a coffee menu & the woman pointed at the fridge behind her to a jug of pre-mixed ice coffee, like Del taco does lol. This is mostly an Asian food establishment despite its misleading name. The seating area was also cluttered with their supplies, it was not a vibe. We decided to meet elsewhere.

Timao K.

Yelp
Today I decided to drive 20 mins from Portland to Clackamas and try their bánh mì since I have eaten all the Vsandwich in Portland. To say that I am very disappointed is an understatement. I bought 2 specials and 1 pork belly sandwich. The flavor was very bland and there is no Páte . It couldn't be call VSandwich if there is no Páté . I don't even know if the carrot and daikon were even dill, if they were then guess what? It was bland also. But worst of all the meat or lack of it. There was only ONE layer of thinly sliced meat. If you like Vsandwich as much as I do then i recommend my list by ranking below 1). Bình Minh (84th & Powell) 2). Chả Lụa (82nd St.) 3) Nam Lộc

Yelp
I have no idea if Bon Baguette is being run by new owners or they just act like new owners, but dayam did the crew behind the counter and around the restaurant provide the most bon service ever. I also have no idea if roasted coconut is a thing, but Bon Lord did I ever enjoy a Roasted Coconut Smoothie with real coconut and al dente boba. If it was bon, than an even bon-er discovery was Bon Baguette's version of a Pâte Chaud (Bánh Patê Sô) called a "Vietnamese Pork Slider" that tastes like a sweet flaky meat pie. Get two and be twice as happy. Of course, the main thing to get at Bon Baguette is a bon baguette or a bon banh mi. I tried the #3 Grilled Pork Banh Mi with extra Jalapeno slices. It was satisfying. It was bon. Five-star service and four-star food make Bon Baguette a très bon option in Happy Valley.

Yelp
I'm having one of those days where everything feels like an episode of the A-Team. Thursday. 1:00 pm. Two other people chatting over empty plates. Strip mall exterior. Many items crossed off large menu. Cannot eat those things now. Enter Vietnamese woman behind counter possibly in her 50's. Friendly. What did we want? The #4. Beef Bo Nuong. Other reviews say slow, bad service. Ours, quick. 1:05, sandwich presented to-go. Under $5.00. I've eaten some fine Vietnamese sandwiches. I'll hustle to get them. I have no shame around Vietnamese food. None. I was warned by my companion not to open the sandwich in the car as I tend to end up with deconstructed sandwiches and insurance information exchanges. I opened it. A carrot strip was lost. I closed it. Finally digging in at home I found a sandwich I actually wasn't too fond of. The veggies were packed in so yay but the beef was all gristle and it tasted that way as well. The bread did not have that beautiful crackle I fuss over with Bahn Mi's. I didn't throw it across the room or anything but instead gave it to my companion when the dog turned down the beef. Not sure what that says about me, the sandwich, my companion or my dog. It was a bit of a shame because I love it when a sandwich comes together.

Amy R.

Yelp
The service is nice and friendly. The food was amazing. Everyone wore masks and gloves. I love it here.

Yelp
I live out in Gresham & I normally drive down Powell to 82nd for Best Baguette for my Vietnamese Sandwich & thai boba tea milk fix. But now I have a new fave spot! Stopped by here on my way home from Clackamas Town Center and I'm so glad I did. I was tired of taking my daughter to the usual fast food joints for lunch after the gym. I had no idea this place was here! I ordered the good ol classic #1 Baguette special & a thai milk boba tea. I have no complains about my sandwich. Bread was fresh, not too hard or crispy on the outside. All the veggie ingredients were fresh too, meat & pate=yummy. My 6 year daughter nibbled on a Baguette that's .65 cents and she loved it, "no brown burnt parts" as she put it. Our thai milk boba tea was delicious and the bobas were nice & soft! The decor is clean, updated, nice colors. This spot is tucked away behind the Auto Zone, next to the Kumon learning place. I will definitely be back to try out the croissant sandwiches and other items. Hey Happy Valley, let's keep supporting our local businesses!

Aly F.

Yelp
I ordered the mango bubble tea and a grilled chicken salad wrap...both were pretty good and fairly priced. However, the restaurant itself was filthy. Possibly the dirtiest restaurant I've ever been too. Neither of the women working there wore masks. I was hoping to really enjoy this place but don't think I will be coming back.

Tyler N.

Yelp
Great little spot to grab a quick bite. Their affordable prices and wide selection are what brings me in!

Haley R.

Yelp
Always have the best customer service! I recommend getting a number 16 it's the teriyaki chicken baguette! So freaking good

Tam L.

Yelp
Have y'all tried eating at best baguette? DON'T, because this place (in my opinion) is so much better!!! Thank you for being in business because, I don't have to go to best baguette anymore. I've ate there as a child but this is now my new favorite Vietnamese sub sandwich shop! I'll tell you the reasons why: 1) the bread (banh mi) is so much bigger, it's wider and the texture is a bit more softer so I could bite into the sandwich easier. It doesn't look like a piece of bread stick, and won't break in half on me so I really appreciate that! 2) they're not stingy with their condiments, they give you a decent amount of pate and Vietnamese mayo in your sandwich, you could squeeze your sandwich with the sauces oozing out. So I appreciate y'all for not being so conservative with that. Aside from the different variety and choices of meat, the sauce is the best part, and that's exactly what makes the sandwiches so mouth watering 3) their convenient location is great for local business. I love the fact that it's not that far from where I live, along with other great stores around the area as well. The prices are alright, and the parking is okay

Yelp
I keep forgetting to leave a review for this place but it's really needed! A lot of the negative reviews here were clearly before change in ownership/management. This spot is so close to my place and they always get my order out on time. The workers are so friendly and nice. One time I forgot to come get my order and they actually gave me a courtesy call!!! Their boba drinks are the bomb. I have a sensitive stomach and can drink their drinks without any issues. I love the pate chaud, combo sandwich, and spring rolls.

Rachel Y.

Yelp
Their pork chaud was amazingly good. Crunchy and fresh. I ordered a grilled pork sandwich and thought it was decent. Could use a little more sauce to bring out the flavor and to make it more moist. The service was fast and good.

Pavknee M.

Yelp
This review is for the ham, egg & cheddar crossaint sandwich. My hubs: "OHMYGOD. Would you LOOK at this?! (See photo for details) This is what I dream about most mornings. I wish this was on my way to work. I. Oh, come on. (silence)" He stopped talking because it was so good. He was going to save half for later. Well. That is not happening because he can't stop eating. Because even though we're going to go get his favorite lunch, he's so so happy because of this sandwich that he's unable to put it down. We love their boba and banh mi as well. Prompt service, a drive through, just amazing.

Ellen L.

Yelp
I can only say the boba was powder and syrup, and overpriced. I don't know if the food is any good.

Grace M.

Yelp
So happy we found this little hidden gem. Very close to our place and the flavors are amazing. We would definitely go again and can't wait to try every single item on the menu.

Stephanie M.

Yelp
So AMAZING. The yummiest fresh bread!!!!! Fresh fruit in their tea!!!! Super clean and totally cute and modern vibe! Sweet family ran business super friendly!

Cindy S.

Yelp
So I got beef stew Togo it costs $6.50 for this small ass portion of soup I swear it's like 4 bites. I'm very disappointed of the size I would of said something but it was too late by the time I got home . The carrots hard, the brisket is tough I wouldn't pay $6.50 for this ever again the only thing good about this was the broth. They need to change the price to this immediately!!!!!

Michelle H.

Yelp
I got the bon special and the grilled pork banh mi here. The baked bread is fresh daily and very amazing. Don't get the avocado smoothie here, It wasn't sweet and it didn't taste like it had avocado in it.... just DONT get the avocado smoothie here... stick with the baguette. No matter how much you are craving an avocado smoothie-Absolutely do not get an avocado smoothie here. It was BAD. Did I tell you to NOT get the avocado smoothie here? 3 stars because I don't understand how you mess up or don't know how to make an avocado smoothie.

Monica A.

Yelp
Avoiding fried food and fast food. Really needed something mid-day to hold me over before a late dinner so I decided to give Bon Baguette a try. It turned out pleasantly good. I wanted a fresh sandwich but being pregnant-- I am avoiding a few things. The menu is great that it lists what's in their house mayo-- which had egg whites, so no Mayo on a sandwich for me. I decided against a dry sandwich and ordered the chicken salad roll instead. Food came out quickly and the people were nice. While waiting, I easily spotted many IKEA items. Pretty simple. The salad roll is more "home style" than the kind you get at a restaurant. What I mean by this is that the roll wasn't rolled very tightly and is more moist and the filling is a little different. The roll had shredded ice berg lettuce, carrots, shredded cucumber, vermicelli noodles, and cilantro with your choice of meat. The roll was a little loose and hard to dip into the peanut sauce but I was able to pour it on after each bite and it worked out. I like the peanut sauce because it wasn't thick and not too sugary either. I felt weird just ordering rolls for $3.75 (you get 2 rolls over order) so I ordered the milk bubble tea as well. These two items put me out $7.70-- which is not bad. I didn't specify how I wanted my tea (blended like a smoothie or over ice) and it came out blended. I liked it! Slowed down the drinking which is good. I couldn't down my bubble tea before my meal. The tapioca balls were cooked through and still springy, not too chewy or too mushy. I enjoyed my mid day meal and will probably go back for more salad rolls and tea.

Sarai R.

Yelp
Manager was respectful and offer great customer service. I must say for $5 and vegetarian sandwich is a steal deal. It's very clean and gentle aesthetic. I would recommend this place .

Fuller L.

Yelp
Great food! Egg rolls & Chaud are fantastic. One less star (4 star instead of 5) for the review because the staff at the pickup/takeout & at the restaurant counter did not wear masks. If customers are required to wear masks, the staff needs to follow the same requirement while serving the customers for safety precautions. Thank you!

Kenny F.

Yelp
Really good breakfast sandwich I always get the ham, bacon and cheese or the Ham and egg on baguette. Super Good! Great baguette Defiantly recommend it

Nancy C.

Yelp
Authentic Vietnamese sandwiches and other snacks. Great service and reasonable prices. They also serve up great drinks.

Viet N.

Yelp
Bon Baguette is a delightful combination of French and Asian cuisine. One of the few good things to come out of 19th century colonialism. For those unfamiliar, a Vietnamese baguette, or "bánh mì" is basically the fusion between a French baguette sandwich but with Vietnamese BBQ meat. 50% western, 50% eastern, 100% awesome. I got myself a BBQ pork baguette (or a "bánh mì xá xíu", #11 if you were wondering) and it was a delightful mixture of tastes all working together to my enjoyment. The savory of the BBQ pork balanced out the tart of the pickled vegetables to deliver the signature taste of a vietnamese sandwich. The portion sizes felt just about right in my opinion-- they came a little low on the meat but the sandwich itself is probably about a foot long. It feels light and refreshing but at the same time I feel satisfied with the amount of food I got. Prices for a sandwich go for about 4 bucks which is about standard for baguettes and is an absolute steal compared to what you'd pay for at the food carts next door. I would definitely recommend this for a quick, low cost lunch. Four stars

Huong N.

Yelp
All the staff didnt wear mask and the people working in the back didnt wear mask either and i scare after purchase my food got to ask them to wear mask and make new food for me to takeout

Eve T.

Yelp
Love coming here!!!! Best place ever!! I've tried many other bubble tea places and this one beats them all! Thank you

Matt S.

Yelp
My first Vietnamese style baguette sandwich and what a treat. Very welcoming and great service! Everything was made fresh including the baguette, no added MSG. Looking forward to trying the Pho beef noodle soup which is homemade by the mother using her traditional recipe. Very welcoming and helpful service.

Stella T.

Yelp
Banh Mis are so good and the service is very fast and friendly. The price is right too! Always had a good experience here and is a lunch favorite.

Sam S.

Yelp
Amazing service and food! Family run with quick service and so friendly. Everything I've tried there is good but their pho is the best I have had and I've tried many places; They use high quality ingredients including their meat and you can really tell the difference. They make it in smaller batches a day at a time so it's a good idea to call ahead to check if they have any if you plan on coming by in the evenings. Their bread is crackly and delicious and baked fresh in the morning. Their bubble tea has fresh fruit options and they use real milk which I think takes it to the next level. We've been there many times now and never been disappointed.

Jon W.

Yelp
OK food, the people are nice but they make a lot of mistakes. Check your order before you leave the restaurant, it's probably wrong.

Anna S.

Yelp
The woman who helped me the first time i came here was very nice. Today i came in and it was a different woman in the back, i looked at the menu for a bit then was ready to order so i waited by the register. I wondered if maybe she didn't see me so I walked around the store a bit and looked at the menu more and cleared my throat a few times to make some noise even realized she was totally looking at me.. I'm pretty patient so i waited a total of 7 mins before i left, not a huge deal but still, when you walk into a business (especially one that has a nice loud welcome chime) you expect to be at least acknowledged and not completely ignored :/

T. L.

Yelp
The freshest homemade bubble tea in the area! The gentleman working was so welcoming and took the time to explain many things on the menu and the history of their family owned business. Everything is made fresh! Such a nice vibe in there too. I was super impressed with the service and the food/drinks. We will definitely be coming back!

Kimberly D.

Yelp
I'm extremely disappointed, I had really high hopes for this place since its so close to my home. Fist of all I want to say the baguettes are extremely hard, after eating half a sandwich the whole roof of my mouth was tore up!!! Also apparently if you come here around 7pm they are out of a good chunk of the stuff on their menu. My husband and I came here on opening day around 1pm and it was crazy. We waited in line and about 5 minutes into waiting a guy comes on the loud speaker and says "please be patient with us we are all new here and are trying to work as fast as we can." My husband and I decided to wait and come back when they weren't so busy. We came back Thursday night around 715pm. It was pretty dead. We ordered our sandwiches, just the #1 and grilled pork and shrimp salad rolls. We tried to order soup with a baguette but they were all out of all the soups. Then while waiting for our food we are siting on the side by the kitchen and one of the girl workers is making sandwiches with her long ass hair hanging down everywhere, no tie back no hair net. Then she comes over and says we don't have grilled shrimp do you want grilled chicken spring roll? I asked if I could get just grilled pork. She goes to the back then comes back and says we have no more grilled pork either. I was like fine just give me chicken. So she goes to the back and comes back like 10 seconds later with the pre packaged chicken salad rolls. I'm guessing they were just trying to get rid of what they had left before closing... We get our sandwiches and drive home (I live about 5 minutes away). we get home I take out the sandwiches and the bags the sandwiches are in are all hella greasy. I've never had a greasy bag when ordering a Vietnamese sandwich before, ewww gross not a good sign. Then I take out the sandwich and there are no veggies inside just meat. I look around the bags and there are no veggies what so ever at all. SO I put everything back in the bag and drive back to the place. I go inside and stand at the counter where three workers just look at me but keep doing what they are doing. So I go up to the register and a guy walks up and I tell him what happened and he says did you check inside the sandwich bag? sometimes its in there...I was like duh I didn't just drive all the way home to come back with out checking everything...He ended up giving us an extra bag of veggies which I appreciated, I love the pickled veggies. Overall this was probably one of the worse experience I have ever had ordering to go. If I ever get a craving for a Vietnamese sandwich I'll take the time to drive across town. The sandwiches were just ok. The salad rolls were good.

Hilary L.

Yelp
We have been here twice so far. I would say they are still working the kinks out of this new business. They are out of items at times which will hopefully be worked out over time. The workers need to listen to their customers. If someone says no veggies, then don't put veggies in the sandwich, etc. Sandwiches are tasty and a good size for the price. The bread is perfect - crispy with a bit of chew. Vietnemese coffee is creamy, but not too strong. The tapioca tastes like tap water!!!! Yuck! This needs major improvement. Plus if you get an avocado boba, it should taste like avocado. There are definitely pluses and minuses to this place.

Rita J.

Yelp
By far the best baguette sandwich I've tried! Andy is so kind and welcoming. I got the teriyaki sandwich and my husband got the grilled beef. My sandwich had the perfect crunch and chewiness where it's not too hard or stale, I've been to some places where the bread was rock hard and hard to eat.I will definitely be back! Cheap prices, delicious sandwiches and great customer service.

Rebekah L.

Yelp
I love this place. Great Vietnamese sandwiches, but don't pass up their croissant sandwiches! They are so good I can eat them multiple days in a row which is big for me as I get bored easily. Try their Cajun shrimp sandwich on a croissant if you like shrimp (comes with onions in case that matters to you). Also, love their breakfast croissant sandwiches. Now that they have changed to new owners I've found that their eggrolls are super good and worth the money. They are dense with a special homemade family recipe consisting of delicious meat and very little vegetables. Surprisingly good. I ended eating 3 all to myself!
