Updating the Progress at Bon Banh Mi in Mt. Pleasant | Eater Carolinas

"A perennially popular downtown favorite since August 2012 is expanding to Mount Pleasant with a new location at 1440 Ben Sawyer Blvd., at the intersection with New Parrish Way next to Triangle Char & Bar in the Mount Pleasant Square neighborhood (which already includes Steel City Pizza Co. and My Father’s Moustache pub). The Vietnamese-inspired menu will continue to feature sandwiches, tacos and salads while adding tested specials — bun cha, duck fried rice, fresh summer rolls, sticky wings, oxtail chili-cheese fries, tamarind shrimp, fried chicken and rice bowls — that co-owner and managing partner James Romano says diners can expect. The new space includes a full bar and a spacious outdoor patio on Ben Sawyer, and the team has been updating customers on social media about a planned February debut." - Susan Stapleton

Let me first start by saying the employees they are extremely friendly and very helpful in ordering the food. They gave me a taste of the iced tea to see if I liked it before I went to pay for it, which was awesome and I liked it very much. I had the duck fried rice, which was to die for I would not be able to stop eating it. If it was all you can eat buffet. It was excellent. Well worth the effort well worth the time and well worth the money. I definitely go to place.

If you want weird fusion foods, this the spot! If you know good fusion n actual flavors of Viet bánh mi …this ain’t it. The images are still on the plates when we left…

Great service & food. Enjoyed the duck fried rice. About the same prices as you'd expect in this neighborhood - $20 - $30 / person.

Love this place. It's not exactly some kind of super authentic Vietnamese experience, but It's also not trying to be. It's just good, kinda pan-Asian, fusion-y, comfort food-adjacent cooking. Similar to a lot of stuff that I like to make at home when I do a rice bowl. If the owners are reading this, I hope y'all will open up a Summerville location at some point! Definitely could use a place like this up here.

My favorite spot! Definitely one you don’t want to miss. You can’t go wrong with any of the menu items, and the staff are so friendly! There are so many options to choose from- I love the brussel sprouts, bowls, and specials, honestly everything is so flavorful and fresh! Highly recommend.

my favorite fast casual spot in chs hands down. the portions are big — i always leave full but in a good way, just that perfect satisfied feeling! everything tastes so fresh and healthy and the team is always so friendly!!!! i’m obsessed with the fried rice and chicken bowl. i literally go or order at least once a week. the mount p location is so cute too - I love the outdoor seating, lighting, and the whole vibe.

So, this is the 3rd time in the last 2 weeks my wife Debbie and I have been to this place. The only reason I haven't posted a review and photos yet is because the food it so good that photos become an after thought once they bring the food out. Located right on Coleman Blvd just before heading over to Sullivan's Island, this place checks all the boxes: - Awesome food ✔️ - A spectacular beer selection ✔️ - and the Customer Service..."Wow" The manager Michael and his staff are brilliant. Kelsey and Cameron make us feel at home every time we've been here. Love that they take the time and allow you to sample the awesome variety of draft beers until you find the perfect one 🙂 and there are many ✔️ Every time I leave this place a feel like I have a circus in my mouth. Their authentic food with the combination of their specialty hot sauces just take the experience to another level. 3 Thumbs Up and 5 Stars from my wife and I. Even our kids love it and they are picky eaters. Oh, and they play oldies music, so it feels like date night every time we go there. Seriously, it just makes you forget about stress, life and puts you in a happy place. It's like a 50’s diner atmosphere with an Asian twist 🙂 Don't deny yourselves of this treat. It's a "MUST VISIT" !!!

My friend and I were craving banh mi's so we came here. Ordering was pretty fast and service was friendly. The interior had a cute aesthetic. We both got the Red Curry Tofu Banh Mi. It was okay, but not amazing. The red curry tofu was interesting, curry flavor was good but I'm not sure if it went well with the other ingredients in the dish. I was disappointed that the pickled veggies weren't pickled enough like I'd normally expect in a banh mi. However we had our leftover banh mi's the next day and our sandwiches tasted better somehow. I think it's because the tofu had more time to marinate in the red curry sauce. Anyways, the overall experience and entree is a 3.5/5 for me.
