"The main menu is inspired by a famous quote from the Portuguese poet Alexandre O’Neill: “Há Mar e Mar, Há ir e voltar...” (“Where there’s Sea, there’s coming and going...”), while the lunch menu is called “Tradição do Mar e Montanha” (“Tradition of Sea and Mountain”) (all with vegetarian options). Drawing on this saying, Chef José Lopes unveils carefully crafted, elegant creations, sometimes paying tribute to his grandmother’s Indian heritage. Such is the case with the course called “Herança da Avó” (“Grandmother’s Heritage”), which perfectly balances salty and sweet flavours, with spices and heat. The offering is underpinned by a modern cuisine with regional flavours, featuring plenty of culinary nods to Algarve recipes. The space has an atmosphere that blends classic and modern, boasting a striking central wrought-iron fireplace and an inviting terrace for sunny days. Additionally, there is an extensive, well-curated wine cellar, complemented by truly professional service!" - Michelin Inspector

We had an incredible dinner at Bon Bon during our honeymoon in Portugal. We chose the tasting menu, and every single course was outstanding — beautifully presented, creative, and full of flavor. Each dish felt like a work of art, both visually and in taste. The service was exceptional from start to finish. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely made the evening feel special. The sommelier selected the perfect bottle of wine to pair with our meal, and it truly elevated the experience. The setting was just as memorable — the atmosphere was elegant yet relaxed, and we enjoyed a gorgeous sunset during dinner. It was one of the highlights of our trip, and we’d love to go back someday. Highly recommend Bon Bon for anyone looking for an unforgettable fine dining experience in the Algarve.

Bon Bon is a restaurant where gastronomy truly becomes art. From the beautifully presented snacks with surprising flavors to the refined main dishes, every plate shows creativity and balance — there isn’t a false note in the harmony. The swordfish, red mullet, and dessert stood out, yet it’s hard to choose a favorite as each dish delighted in its own way. The setting is equally impressive: a tastefully designed, relaxed interior with a calm, almost Zen atmosphere, enhanced by soft lounge music. The adjoining wine cellar adds character to the estalagem. Service is impeccable, with an eye for detail that elevates the whole experience. While not inexpensive, Bon Bon is worth every euro — a memorable and thoroughly pleasant culinary journey.

I cannot say enough positive things about this delightful and surprising restaurant. To begin, the service: My husband and I had a date night here and didn’t realize until already into the 9 course tasting, that this would take us longer than we told our babysitter we would be gone 😬 We informed our server that we would need to tighten the meal to under 2 hours and the staff did a heroic feat in accomplishing this, while maintaining professionalism, quality, and clockwork like execution. In addition, after 2 courses one staff member noticed my husband is left handed and began setting his silverware on his left side. The 9 course tasting was a harmonious, creative, beautifully balanced blend of Algarvean traditions and the chef’s Indian roots in Goa. We were amazed by nearly every dish’s presentation and complexity of careful flavors joined together. Lots of little surprises and unexpected flavors (as one would expect of a Michelin starred restaurant). We didn’t opt for the wine paring but enjoyed two distinct local wines our server recommended and allowed us to sample at the start. In dramatic fashion we finished all the courses plus 2 or 3 bonus courses at exactly the deadline I had given. The only minor letdown was a table of very loud American voices speaking foul language who were not self aware of their surroundings). We could not ask for more, between the personalized and attentive service to the excellent presentation, artistry and quality of the food. Thank you so much Bon Bon.

We had the absolute pleasure of dining at Bon Bon during our time in the Algarve, and it was a standout experience. The flavours were nothing short of incredible. Every dish in our six-course menu was thoughtfully composed, beautifully balanced, and left a lasting impression. The presentation was absolutely stunning—each plate a work of art. Service was impeccable from start to finish; the staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely happy to chat and share more about the dishes and wines. We had a two-star Michelin experience earlier in the week in Porto, but honestly, Bon Bon felt just as deserving—if not more. It was refined, relaxed, and full of heart. We opted for the 6-course menu which was more than enough, especially after a late lunch. If you’re considering the 9-course option, we’d recommend skipping lunch altogether to make the most of it!! A beautiful setting, outstanding food, and a truly memorable evening. Highly recommended.

What a great experience! The service is an absolute 10. The place, the timing, everything was on point. Some dishes deserved an applause. Others were good, but did not surprised us. We have been to many 3 star Michelin restaurants, so we are a tough crowd, we know. A very recommendable experience all in all.

We had amazing dinner at this restaurant! Beautiful presentation and interesting combination of ingredients. Some dishes were too salty for me and for my husband… and it’s shame that not possible to fix this😔 My personal TOP dishes: •Sardines, Sourdough Bread and “Arjamolho” •Grandmother’s Heritage •Carne de Porco à Alentejana •desert - Peanuts, Miso and Chocolate, which is out of words!!!! After several days I’m still impressed by it😂😂😂 soooo delicious! We were totally full! We have on mind to come back!

We visited Bon Bon with friends September 2024 and it was one of the best dining experiences of my life. We opted for the 9 course meal but probably got to sample 25 individual taste explosions. It is so very obvious that the chef loves creating. This can be tasted as well as seen in the presentation. The food and dessert is a beautiful fusion of land, sea, mountain, wild food and at times Indian, with the Chef paying homage to his Goan and Portuguese heritage. I don't want to give too much away as this is something you need to try for yourself. A great plus for our friends was the availability of wine pairing with a very knowledgeable Sommelier on site. She clearly knew her stuff about the many grape varieties that Portugal has to offer. Very important to me is food presentation and atmosphere. Bon Bon again ticked all the boxes. Although all the wait staff were excellent l wanted to give special mention to the Zimbabwean waiter who spoke about each dish with confidence, ready to answer any questions. If l could recommend one area for development is that my expectation for such a high end place would be to have a selection of craft alcohol free beers available instead of the same option everyone else has, plus a wider selection tasty and food pairing other alcohol free options to choose from. But no doubt we would all like to return to see what they have on their next menu that changes once a term. They absolutely deserve the 9 years in a row Michelin st

Excellent experience! The chef prepared so many surprises that we were so happy and also super full by the end. The carabineros shrimps dish was impeccable. The way everything was prepared. Majority of dishes we were very impressed at how the flavors meshed well together. The desserts were also top notch. Truly enjoyed this restaurant!
