"The name, which means ‘good road’, reflects Ryo Hanazawa’s determination to tread the path of the culinary artist with sincerity.  His theme is universal flavour and his methods are based on the recipes of the legendary restaurateur Auguste Escoffier. Sardine and vegetable soup, and pigeon and duck roti with offal sauce are long-time favourites in which he takes special pride. Japanese ingredients give a unique twist to his dishes as they bring back the aroma of the good old days of French cuisine." - Michelin Inspector

This is a lovely French restaurant in a quiet residential area. It’s a restaurant that is well-loved in the area as well as from afar. They have also obtained the status of a one star Michelin restaurant in 2018. We ordered the Imakane course which is a 9,500JPY full course menu. And we fully enjoyed each presentation. One of the most memorable highlight was the fish and meat dish. The fish’s skin was cooked very crisp while the meat was very fluffy and tender. The sweet flavors of the cabbage together with the truffles was fantastic. The meat was cooked rare in the middle, so juicy and tender, while the Gorgonzola sauce has a great flavor punch. Truly excellent meal. The dessert was perhaps a bit weak and could be improved. Overall it’s a well prepared traditional French cuisine using Japanese ingredients.

A hidden gem in the back streets of Yutenji. The food was beautifully executed and delicious. No fuss or foams. Old school French style with good quality produce. The service was excellent. Nice selection of wine. So glad to have found this in our neighbourhood! It’s on the fav list for sure!

Hidden gem in Meguro. We had a great romantic dinner, which was perfect from the the start and till the end. Everything had an excellent taste. We took a chef’s course. Those who tend to eat small portions are recommended to take a smaller course. The staff members were very friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to returning here again.

Yelp
(Dined 11/25/2016) Showed up at 7pm for our 7pm reservation, and the restaurant is open but empty. After a few "sumimasen" calls go unanswered, we call the restaurant's land line and someone on the kitchen staff picks up. "Sorry to trouble you, but we are here for our reservation... and standing inside the front door!" After making some scuffling and scrambling sounds in the back, our waiter comes to greet us and apologize. They were short staffed because of a train delay affecting their lead waitress. Not a big deal in the end! After this humorous entrance, we were seated and handed menus. The entire meal experience was well orchestrated, and the presentation, quality, and taste of the dishes were quite memorable. I can see how this quiet neighborhood French spot earned a Michelin Star. If you're interested in experiencing an off-the-beaten-track French restaurant in suburban Tokyo, I would definitely recommend venturing to Bon Chemin.
