Bon Ton Antique Wooden Villas, Langkawi, Malaysia - Explore & Book

"Atmospheric, laidback and unusual (in a good way), Bon Ton is a careful blend of conservation principles and design savvy. The small resort - or 'Coconut Village' as it used to be called - comprises 8 rustic kampung houses on a former coconut plantation, just north of Langkawi's longest beach. Each house was acquired and painstakingly reassembled by Australian owner, Narelle McMurtrie, in a remarkable labour of love. Overlooking a peaceful lily-strewn lagoon, the stilted wooden villas are individually styled with colourful fabrics, Malay songket weavings and striking antique furnishings. It's a far cry from the surrounding generic resort hotels, and what Bon Ton lacks in facilities, it more than makes up for in character and charm. Even so, there's an attractive swimming pool, a west-facing cocktail deck, a wonderful restaurant serving Asian fusion cuisine and a lounge-bar set in a heritage Chinese shophouse. All in all, it's a wonderfully romantic hideaway. Highs Exquisite, antique Malay architecture blended with chic, beautifully conceived interiorsDelicious Asian-Mediterranean cuisine in Nam - the restaurant is one of Langkawi's best and Rick Stein is said to be a fanA couple of houses have private alfresco bathrooms for washing under the starsA totally different type of resort - secluded, romantic and full of atmosphereThe bar serves some irresistible cocktails - try the mango daiquiri Lows Mosquitoes can be an annoyance, but the hotel provides mozzie diffusers, sprays and netsThe nearest beach is a mile away along a sandy track; staff will drop you down on requestThere are lots of cats around; they're very friendly, but those with allergies take note! The continental breakfasts, delivered to your room, could get a bit samey if you stay for more than a few daysSome houses are quite close to one another and noise can carry" - James Alexander

We came here again the 2nd time celebrating my girl’s 10th birthday as she loves this resort so much. ||The first time we came here we stayed at frangipani house and this time around we had black coral due to the availability. ||We had some issue on our room, black coral and we managed to change house to the Silk house which was suitable for 4-6 pax room thanks to Mr Sham||Had a restful and enjoying time with my 2 kids and they enjoyed the YouTube, swimming pool, the cat and dog friendly adoption and bath tub of course. They have nice aromatherapy bath salt included. ||Insects not problem because at Bon Ton do provide all the insects repellent provided on each house. They do provide umbrellas in case the weather rains. ||Complimentary breakfast are provided at night for next morning in the minibar. Serving toasted bread, slice cakes of the day, Zottis yogurts, jam and honey from OZ and fruit juice from Austria and of course teas and coffee. ||The only concern for us would be great if they have a bidet spray in the toilet. Restaurant Nam has great food and strongly recommend Nam’s Restaurant cocktail. ||All the staffs and guests were really friendly. Definitely we will revisit again the 3rd time and more

A truly special place – unforgettable stay! 🌿🐾✨ We had a wonderful family stay at Bon Ton Antique Wooden Villas in Langkawi. The resort is absolutely beautiful, with a unique charm that makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive. The breakfast was fantastic, and the entire setting is just so peaceful and relaxing. One of the most special aspects of this place is the attached dog and cat shelter, which adds a heartwarming touch to the experience. The restaurant is outstanding – a small but well-curated menu with delicious dishes. Every meal was a highlight! From the resort’s pool, you can even spot birds in the surrounding nature, which was a lovely surprise. The location is also quite convenient, being close to the airport. But what truly sets Bon Ton apart is the exceptional hospitality. The staff at both the resort and restaurant made us feel completely welcome and at home. If you're looking for a unique and warm place to stay in Langkawi, this is it! Highly recommended! 🌴🐕🐈

We loved our stay in the Frangipani Villa. The Villa is a real traditional Malay Wooden house. Be prepared that there is a rustic feel to the Villa and indeed the whole resort. Staff were all lovely and welcoming and the food in the restaurant is very good. I would have preferred breakfast to have been offered in the restaurant rather than the “do it yourself” style that was offered. It is quite a walk to a Chenang beach and town. Sunsets over the lake and towards the sea were wonderful each night. Thank you for a lovely stay.

A very peaceful haven for those wishing to enjoy some tranquility. Lovely antique chalets offer privacy. The beach and town centre are a short walk away, and there’s a lovely restaurant at the property too.|Staff very friendly, and always on-hand to assist with enquiries, recommendations.|Special mention to Lin for his kind assistance during my stay.

Incredible place with the most amazing food. We had a truly wonderful time at the Bon Ton. The rooms are very unique and extremely comfortable. The location is perfect and the staff were better than we've encountered in 5* places around the world. Thank you for a memorable 3 days

As a person/family that spends most of their life in the city.Indeed choosen a place for holiday away from the hustle and bustle of city life and ended up at Bonton resort for 3days/2nights. It was a life changing experience with natural beauty of nature more so living in a kampung that reminisced when we were young. With good hospitality and attentive staffs that are always available to help. Sure place to visit and will be back

4/5 for cleanliness. The rooms are jungle huts so you expect some bugs to come in, but we also had a rat or something come in to nibble our chocolates. Taking a shower surrounded by flying ants and mosquitos is unpleasant.1/5 for location sorry. You are very close to a mosque so you get a 6am wake up call every morning ALLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA3/5 for service. Most of the staff were fine. The hotel also has an animal shelter with dogs and cats. We volunteered to walk the dogs. The worker let the unleashed puppies jump on us, covered in mud. He took a video for instagram and laughed. Fortunately, the hotel got my clothes washed for me after.1/5 for ameneties. Not good, sorry. Breakfast is very simple - bread, butter, jam, yoghurt, fruit, cake (all cold). It would be nice to have more variety. The hotel restaurant is not so good, so we went to the place next door. The room has a tv with dvd player, no live tv or netflix. You can borrow some dvds, but they are all movies I had never heard of. Some of the dvds don't work (maybe bootleg), it looks like a box of unwanted ones they found in he trash. The pool was very dirty.

We love BonTon! Repeat, repeat guests because we always love our Langkawi stays. So relaxing, so comfortable and such great service. The accommodation is super eclectic being traditional Malay wooden stilt houses. Every one is different but interesting and comfortable. The food is fantastic and people from other resorts are always there enjoying meals. Sunday live music night was a brilliant local act we shared with some friends (Top Tip: leave room for dessert)
