Bon Ton Resort

Absolutely wonderful. The grounds are quiet and peaceful, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the villas (of course!) are rustic and sentimental, offering you a taste of the bygone life. ||There are many interesting things you can spot in their common area (which has many lounge chairs for your rest and relaxation). In our short stay of only two days we spotted many birds we've never seen before. For nature lovers and people looking for a break from the city, this place is a must-go. ||Also, the service here is unmatched. Great value for your money -- the breakfasts are large, filling and delicious, and the villas are meticulously upkept. I found it clean and comfortable. ||You won't regret staying here. Definitely a great hotel for families.

We stayed five nights at this unique property. The Villa are comfortable and well appointed with antique furniture. Beds are equipped with bug nets which is both practical and romantic. The large pool is centrally located and is the perfect spot to relax, enjoy a cool drink and observe the wild bird activity. The property is shared with an animal rescue facility so you will encounter friendly cats and dogs wondering freely. The hotel sponsors artists and we were enormously fortunate to meet the artist in residence during our stay. The onsite restaurant serves a daily lunch and dinner menu which we frequented. The food was outstanding as was the service.

Absolutely fantastic. We loved it here. It’s an idyllic place, away from the masses, the best welcome and the food was just heavenly. Bon Ton is a little slice of paradise. Great cocktails a fabulous wine list, art, roaming animals and such a friendly vibe. Breakfast in your room is perfect….homemade breads and cakes and the best coffee. Lovely to meet the owner too….hospitality five stars.

Bon Ton Resort is a lovely small resort made out of a few typical malayan houses. The staff is so welcoming, you'll feel at home soon. The restaurant offers good local dinner. The huts themselves are (as per their nature) no five star accomodation. However, they are equiped with TV, aircon, shower, fridge etc. But they are literally centuries old. So there are cracks and spaces between the floorboards. We loved the vibe of the hut and our child enjoyed the pool very much. The resort is located outside the town, so you need to have a car or a Grab to get anywhere. Keep in mind that you are travelling in a muslim country, so due to the open design of the accomodations you will hear the prayers call in the morning (approx 5:45) for about 45min (with breaks in between). You will also here animals on the roof of your hut and the dogs living in the shelter nearby. So please consider that and bring some ear plugs.

local stuff like the geoforest park (boat ride there really good) is a 30 minute drive. lots of pets everywhere (mostly cats and some dogs that you can take out for walks), all really friendly. food was good, but the wait for it is long. room really comfortable apart from mosquitoes everywhere, but most beds have working mosquito nets so it’s all good.

This place is absolute paradise. I honestly have never stayed anywhere so perfect. It’s clean, beautifully furnished, incredibly peaceful and staffed by wonderful people. We stayed in Blue Ginger, a delightful traditional Malaysian house with an outside bathroom, which I absolutely loved. ||The resort is home to rescued dogs and cats, who are all incredibly well looked after and very chilled out. ||There are geckos everywhere, which I love. They are brilliant to watch. And there are so many birds so it really feels like a nature filled refuge. ||I would advise bring mosquito repellent, the resort very kindly provides some, but as it’s very close to marshland there are a few around. ||The restaurant is very good, the food is all delicious and we ate there most nights. It is quite pricey for Malaysia but the quality of the food is excellent. ||Breakfast is delivered the night before to the room when the bed is made ready with mosquito nets and mosquito repellers. It was delicious, simple but very good. ||I could go on, but all I can say is this place had stolen my heart. I cannot wait to go back.

pros: -a very warm and super courteous staff at the concierge (Celine) who really brings such a joyful vibe to this lovely place !! I love her spirit and vibe:))) she also kindly accommodated my request for a late check out at 1pm since we are out for a cycling trip -lovely lovely traditional houses!!!!! we stayed at Black Coral which gave me a rumah penghulu vibe (honestly they're a tad bit way older than what i'd thought and kinda looked haunted/unkempt from the outside but don't let that external features fool you! coz they're sooooo charming and gorgeous inside!!!!!!!!!!!!) -the view and the surroundings (the palm trees, the swamp, the ornate chairs and tables under the tress OH SO CHARMING I WISH I JUST CAN SIT THERE ALL DAY AND READ BOOKS AND GAZE AT THE VIEWWW) -there's a restaurant of masakan kampung delicacies of a walkable distance (just across the road) so yes easy option for lunch!! cons: -of all things, the pool was dirty ???? like no one really bothered to clean them? and it was peak days eg. Christmas day so you would expect more visitors so isn't that logical to clean that pool a bit??? -one of our towel was missing (we are 2 pax so supposed there should be 2 towels for us as per usual) but when the room service left they only leave us with one towel?? so we went back all sweaty from our activities around 10pm but can't take a bath so I had to walk to the main hall (Nam Restaurant at 9pm++)and ask for towel in the dark of the night?? and there were wild dogs roaming outside?? and it was such a crazy scary experience what it they chased/bite me?? luckily a staff found me and gave me towels thank GOD -no clear wifi password we had to ask thru wassap but was denied all day longg? the celcom line was poor there hence we need the wifi so we can watch some movies but its ok just sleep early then :" (maybe next time they can write the password on a paper and simply leave it in the room) -the breakfast was ohhh how should i say this, sad and horrible? for the price that we are paying. like its cold and you had to do it yourself when you are rushing is not a really good idea of an island escapade. -the sun bed on our house sun deck is rotten almost like eaten by rats? like its not fit to be used anymore? like maybe its time to change it. all in all, its a very charming experience but a lot need to be improved.

Location is very good. It is very relaxing. The room we had was very big with a bath outside. Very nice. A lot of mosquitoes but that is normal. The house is open (windows that are made with holes… it is very pretty but there will be animals that can go inside and light will come in too. The really annoying part is that everyday around 5 o clock there will be a mosque that prays via speakers. So you will hear it too and that is why you definitely need earplugs. The dogs will also wake because of the mosqu, but they will get quiet short after. A lot or cats and dogs on the terrain, which was nice for me, because i went walking with the dogs every morning at 10:20! They are very nice! If you don’t like animals then DO NOT COME! I definitely enjoyed my stay. Very nice view with airplanes that come by. I don’t hear them at night and i don’t have earplugs. Also note that you eat breakfast in your room. I liked it, because you get your food at 6:30pm the day before and then you can wake up and eat on the balcony outside🙂 but it’s a very monotonous breakfast. Small portion also, we asked for more bread. You get a bit of normal bread and a bit of bread with raisins. A bit of butter, raspberry jam, honey. You always need to toast the bread otherwise it’s not good. Never something else like croissants or chocolate breads. You get some cake as dessert. I bought nutella in a nearby shop to have a different taste. Also no meat or cheese. I didn’t need that, but some people like it. The sheets of the bed were very thin. When the airconditioning was on, it was too cold for only the sheet. I was freezing in the middle of the night, but if the airconditioning was off, then i was sweating the whole night. I tried changing the temperature and the wind to go less hard, but it didn’t work… also the mosquito nets are there, but a lot of holes in them, so i don’t think they work… the people here are very nice though and very good working!! They take good care of everything and the guests
