BonBon - A Swedish Candy Co.

Small selection of pick mix and then certain candies were behind the counter and you had to ask an employee for them when checking out? Was very strange. The woman in front of me asked for Bubs and they pulled out a bag from under the counter. Really limited salmiakki and lakritsi selection. Candy King has a better selection and is the same price per pound.

This place is an upscale dream. I was greeted immediately by the staff to introduce me to how picking the candy works. They were super friendly and not overbearing. This store has such a wide range of gummy candy, sugared gummies, licorice, toffee and chocolates. You can fill a sealable bag and it was a great experience. I grabbed some candy for my niece and nephew and I know they are going to love the variety!

This was my first visit to BonBon and the experience was just subpar. There were 2 employees there and although one was friendly and helpful, the other was just cold and disinterested. A different group of people walked in while I was there and they were offered samples of some candy they had in a jar, the cold employee who was in charge of this chose to overlook me. The candy selection was ok, they didn’t have Bubs.

I kept seeing all the pink bags, so I became Nancy Drew. I found a fabulous candy store. They had my favorite candy - "Queen's Candy"; it's an almond in the middle, covered by chocolate, and a hard candy shell. Nonetheless, there's a plethora of great candy. (Remember to brush those teeth)

I was super excited to try out BonBon after seeing all of the hype on social media. The candy itself is okay, the store is clean, however the staff were inattentive. My fiance and I walked in and not one (out of the three) people working said hi or offered any help. It was not a busy night, they just seemed uninterested.

The staff here are so friendly and eager to give out samples/reccomendations. I was very sad to see that the strawberry bonbons were completely out so when I asked the staff they apologized. However, they immediately asked me to stay put so they could check the back. About 5 minutes later they came out with a ton of the bonbons. Was absolutely thrilled. The fizzy pear ones are also so so good. I went back twice in a span of a few days.

It's like coming to New York because the kids wanted to come here. Now that I'm here, I understand the kids. Everything is not too sweet, but pretty and delicious. And the store staff is so friendly. I bought all the New York souvenirs for my friends here with jelly.

I went in with low expectations since I’m usually skeptical about TikTok famous places. With that being said I was impressed by the candy. People can call it what they want and are entitled to their own opinions, but as someone that’s been to Europe and had basic to high end candy… this place deserves high marks. I anticipated on having a mediocre experience here, but it looks like I will be taking a trek here ever so often. Staff members were efficient, friendly, and informative. Especially when it came to guiding us on what was displayed where to help us navigate before going into the tiny store to ensure we weren’t scattered around the store. If I had one mild critique, it would be that tongs might be easier than scoops for flat candy. I was also bummed that I couldn’t find cherry flavored candy. Bonbon definitely gets sour candy right. It gives you a punch of flavor and mellows out in such a pleasant manner. The sour skulls were probably my favorite followed by the sour cherry (?) licorice discs. (If you aren’t a licorice lover, this item will convert you to liking it). Case closed.

I have been wanting to go to one of the Bonbon stores in person. I really wanted to experience choosing my own candies and getting the vibe of the store. Life has been a little crazy lately. So, I gave in and placed a delivery order from the Upper Eastside store. I chose the Autumn mix because well, it is fall! The packaging was very cute and was a nice presentation. I also thought the thank you note added a lovely touch. Now, let's get down to the candy! One candy that I see in video reviews (not sure other their name, but they look like skulls) where not in my order. That was a bit of a disappointment. I figure once I go in person, I will try them. I had a really nice mix of both sour and sweet candies. I really enjoyed them. I received some of those soft candies and they were good but, not amazing. I am not a fan of black licorice. There were several types in my bag. That was the major negative about not being able to choose the candy myself. The quantity of candy was larger than I expected.. A yummy experience. I look forward to going to the store and choosing an experiencing with the entire selection.

If you're into gummy candy and an old school candy shop vibe then you'll definitely enjoy Bonbon. My one complaint is that they don't offer descriptions of the candy underneath the labels. They have allergens listed but not general ingredients. I didn't realize that some of the chocolates I got had gummy candy in them so that would've been nice to know.

Very very disappointed in the customer service here! I was dying to try literally anything here as they're gone viral everywhere but my experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth. There were two other women inside when I walked in. One was at the register while I was checking out the chocolate section. Both girls were so nice to her, they made conversation with her and everything ... BOTH OF THEM! I asked them if they had dark chocolate, they said no and laughed. I settled on a milk chocolate bar with some almonds for my mom. I walked to the register, one girl went to the back and then came out and they had a whole conversation in front of me about their lunch order. It was insane! I felt like I was invisible. It was sad really. I didn't even want to take my instagram picture in front of their store, I went to the side. It was a shame they couldn't be nicer to me and I really hope it wasn't because I was a Latina. Do better Bonbon ... or at least teach your staff to be nicer to EVERYONE!

A must while you're in the city!!! Excellent service, an amazing variety of quality candy! And a great variety of readily packed assortment! It's awesome that they're open so late and they let you try whatever you're curious about. Try the sours if you love that type. Sorry not sorry, because you're gonna fall in love with them!

Have been wanting to try Bonbon for a while now and spotted this location while walking around. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Going in, I knew which gummies I wanted to purchase. We paid around 10 dollars for about 20 pieces of candy. Overall, I enjoyed the taste of the gummies but some had funky flavors.

This a cute place with a menagerie of gummies and chocolate sweets. It's a small shop but it's cozy and very cutely decorated. Our favorite is the cola pacifiers, the banana marshmallow, gluten free penguin, rainbow seahorse, French nougat, and Jelly Cows. It's so pricey tho. We got like 12 pieces and it was $4.90. But the bags and postcards are so cute and they don't change extra!

I ordered candy from here from Uber eats and some candies were excellent and some were horrible. I really wish they would put less of the gummies with the white bottoms. I just don't like those ones. The packaging and candies are very pretty and would make a cute gift.

Even with all the hype, I was definitely impressed with Bonbon! Their candies definitely stood out to me as unique in both taste and texture. The strawberry marshmallow was delicious -- somewhere between a Starburst and an actual marshmallow in terms of chewiness, and a subtle strawberry flavor that hit the spot. I could eat so many without feeling like my pancreas was screaming for help (even though it probably would). The sours are really great as well, they pack a punch. So many unique flavors that warrant more than one trip! I definitely see the appeal. It's a little pricy for a candy store, but what isn't on the Upper East Side of Manhattan? Plus the space gets crowded very quickly, with many folks vying for the same candy real estate, leading to occasional candy crushes (see what I did there?). All in all, well worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood!

My boyfriend and I like the call the employees here Oompa Loompas cause they are always so happy and willing to work as if they were literally working at Charlie's Chocolate Factory. They always have a great selection (even when skulls aren't in stock ). I love it here, never any complaints! I suggest: Swedish fish, cotton candy skulls, and any and every soft candy. Ask for a sample, they never say No! lol

We went back here for some more Swedish candy - however, I had my college daughter with me so she picked out exactly what she wanted . She went around and scooped up what she wanted! ! They are very friendly and very helpful here as well!

Fantastic candy shop! Prices are reasonable, and the candy is genuinely as good as people say it is. I like gummy candy and marshmallows, but this...this is out of this world. The customer service as well was so phenomenal, we felt so welcomed!

This place is filled with women excited for yummy Swedish candy and their boyfriends muttering about how it can't be that much better than normal candy. Like most things in the world, the men are wrong. The candies at bonbon are incredible. Not sure I'll ever eat another sour patch kid again. Absolutely t and worth it. I just wish it were a little bigger and had more variety but I hear it does change things out often.

I was pretty excited to go to Bonbon on a Saturday evening after dinner. I'm sure I got over a pound of candy! I got a good mix of every candy that was not individually wrapped or chocolate. It was a gummy and licorice buffet. I got sweet ones, salty ones, fruity ones, a few sour ones, etc. If lived anywhere near this I'd be here all the time! The Bubs skulls are really so good! I'm sure I'll be back one day when I'm in the city again!

I Love Bon Bon & this location is was absolutely delightful !! my boyf & I were extremely impressed !! We went on a Saturday afternoon & it was very busy.. there was a fairly long line .. we waited around 15 min to walk in & it's a pretty small space so a bit of a squeeze inside. But the people working were extremely sweet & helpful. The shop was very clean & filled w a fun selection of sweets. The lady who helped us check Out was the most sweet helpful person ever. Wish I got her name but she was great! Big Thanks to her. My fav candy store. I love it here !!

If you like gummy candy or licorice this is the candy shop for you. They have traditional and novelty Swedish candy. You can mix and match to try a variety of candies.

Give Max a raise he's like the Willy wonka of Bonbon great presentation and very knowledgeable . I haven't really been to a candy shop in a long time. But today I wanted to give this a shot since I've saw it on The Mark's IG for Halloween. The shop is pretty clean and neat knowing that kids bombard this place daily. I got some sour candy and a few chocolates the Karl Farer is my fav one.

There is so many things I love about this place. I love how late it is open, me and my girlfriend come frequently later at night or after dinner if we want a sweet treat. I have seen other reviews complain about the price and I have to really disagree, the fact you can get as much or as little candy as you want is why I love this place. We come and get 10-15 pieces of candy and it comes out to $4. I think that is totally reasonable. I treat it as if I was to go out and get ice cream and it cost $4 I would be thrilled! We obviously have some of our favorites like the grapefruit bottle and the bonbons but this place is fun and always switching out their candy to try new things! Give this place a try! It's so much fun and can't miss the pink exterior

I came on a random Saturday around 11AM and was the only customer and the workers were really nice and let me tried a couple of pieces first! Most of their more popular candy was out and only like 70% of the bins were filled. My favorites were the rum chocolate, large flat candy coated chocolate, wrapped mint chocolate, coconut chocolate, and the sour strips! The lips were a little too chewy and the salt licorice was not it for me. Right before I left a large group of 10ish people came in and it was instantly too crowded. Overall a cute shop, not worth the huge hype or waiting in line like I've seen in the LES!

Bon Bon in the Upper East Side sells Swedish candy. Similar to It's Sugar, they allow the customer to shovel the candy into the bags and pay up from without assistance. This definitely means a decent amount of bacteria in the candy and poses a risk to anyone who dares enter the establishment. The food here is not bad, some of it is very tasty, especially if you have a sweet tooth. The only big red flag that I notice constantly when I walk even near the establishment is the stanchion with a red rope holding back the 4 person at most line like they are a luxury store with high standards. Who do they think they are? The smell in the store could also use some work, it smells so artificial. The service is mediocre/helpful. They are not overly nice.

Bon Bon Swedish Candy, located on the Upper West Side, is a hidden gem for candy lovers! They have an incredible selection of Swedish candy, and if you're a fan of green apple flavor like me, you're in for a treat. Everything green apple-flavored was my favorite! The store is very clean, and I appreciated the attention to hygiene--they provide clean scoops for customers to use, and when you're done, there's a designated bin to place the used scoop. You can scoop as many different types of candy as you want into a single bag, which makes it perfect for trying a variety of sweets. The whole experience was fun and easy, and I'll definitely be back for more!

What a cute candy store for the neighborhood. Most if not all the candy inside is from Sweden. The store is very well organized and clean. The lady working there was super nice as I told her I had many food allergies and she said which products I could have. She let me taste some of them before I decided if I wanted to purchase them or not. I ended up buying ones that she suggested I buy. Highly recommend checking this place out.

This small store has a good variety of Swedish candy but they were out of many varieties and quite a few of the shelves were empty. They had chocolate, fruit based, sour and salty (licorice) candies. The candy is less sweet than US candy and the gummys have a good texture with the fruit flavors pretty pronounced. The candy in the bins is charged by the pound. You grab a bag and clean scoop and put what you want into the bag. They then weigh the bag to determine the cost. It's so easy to get carried away! When I was there it was mostly teens and kids in the store. There isn't a ton of space to move around. I look foward to visiting the other locations.

One thing is for certain, I am ecstatic that BonBon has opened another location which, for me, is much easier to get to than their Williamsburg location (note, I haven't been to their LES location). Their hours are quite ideal for any candy-o-holic - they open at 10am and close at midnight - every day! My first visit to this new location was during their soft opening. I just finished a nearby Rumble workout so it was the perfect reward. This store is on the smaller side when comparing to the Williamsburg location, and it does seem like they have less candy options, but don't you worry - I still found more than enough to fill my bag. They have made good use of the small space fitting in quite a selection. The concept is simple, grab a bag, grab a *clean* scoop, then have at it! Each candy is separated by different bins. You can add as much or as little as you'd like to your bag. I'm a big gummy fan so I tend to get a couple of each of my favorites so I can have a good variety. I wish I knew the names for the types of candies because they're not necessarily easy to describe. The tube shaped ones have been a surprising favorite for me. Most recently I also tried a few wrapped chocolates and found a lovely mint chocolate. After you're done, bring your bag (and *dirty* scoop - they'll take it to clean) to the register to check out. Pricing is by weight. Typically I spend about $20 each time I stop by, and I get a good amount of candy for that price. The quality is unmatched so it's definitely a worthwhile value to me. Can't wait to stop by again soon to satisfy my sweet tooth!

Love this place! It's definitely on the pricier side but the candy is really delicious, especially the salted black licorice! I wish you could try things before you buy them and that they would provide gloves along with the scooper to make things more sanitary.

What really turns me away is the pricing. I'm a big fan of Swedish candies (especially the ones with white backs), but I just can't get over how expensive it is just for a few pieces of candy. This is just not worth the hype especially when the selection isn't that vast.

Bright pink candy store with a wide assortment or chocolate, chewy candy, licorice etc. The lady showing us around was super super nice and welcoming and they let you try some samples as you go around. She explained a lot. That was great as it guided us what to buy. Some really fun flavors and some very different candies. Lots of sweet and sour and fizzy stuff, also some fudge, chocolates and a section of various licorice. You take a bag and a scoop and help yourself, it's certainly not too cheap so don't put too much in your bag ha ha! Great place to go for a treat- Also they are open until midnight ?! So you can do a late night treat!

Stopped in to try the candies that I've been seeing on tik tok. The store was super cute and the workers seemed nice. The candy selection was smaller than I was expecting- and there were tons of candies that I'd seen on social media that I didn't see in the store. I didn't see any of the marshmallow ones so I was pretty bummed. The workers didn't ask us if we wanted to sample anything (we probably should've just asked) but it would've been nice to know what we like before buying. We got a good variety and when we got home we ended up not loving most of it. Some of I t was pretty hard that it almost felt stale. The sour stuff was hardly sour at all. I would only come back if I knew the marshmallow candies were back because I want to try those, but otherwise I wouldn't care to go back.

Came here because of all the Swedish candy hype on social media! The price per pound is high but the variety is plentiful and service is quick and polite.

Had to come here to see that the tik tok hype is about. To be honest I don't get it. It's a very small candy shop. Mostly gummy candies. I tried several different options and just wasn't impressed. It was cheap enough. I don't know the weight of what I got but it was less than $5 to sample basically one of each. I love candy and just didn't care for anything. The only thing I liked was the gummy rat. The store was way too small and so cramped too. I do wish the employees made more of an attempt to provide info on the candy. We had to keep asking because the titles weren't descriptive enough.

Such a cute candy shop! There was no line when we arrived and we were even able to sample some of the candies from a super helpful and friendly employee. The peach rings are exceptionally tasty. My kids loved the other candies, but I was not a fan. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

This place is so fun! I've been wanting to try this forever, and it definitely met the hype around it. The marshmallows are my favorite and I filled a whole bag for ~$5 (for those complaining about the price, you clearly haven't been to the Nuts Factory)

Overhyped. I got about $5 worth of candy. The gummies were stale. A marshmallow was as hard as a rock. I enjoyed the chocolates, so maybe stick with those. No bubs; they were sold out. Probably wouldn't visit again because of quality issues

Off to a bad start when a Bonbon gift I ordered to be delivered by Valentine's Day I discovered as the day approached had never been shipped. Had to rush order from another supplier to fill the gap. Turns out that not only had UPS lost the item, Bonbon had effectively lost the order. But the good news is that after reading my initial review, Bonbon overnighted at no charge a second shipment that did arrive on time. So my gift recipient received two candy orders. As a result I've promoted Bonbon from 1 star to 4 . I think they've learned to track online orders more carefully and I'd try them again.

If there was a ZERO STAR selection this would be the choice. All I can say is what a joke. Don't waste your time or money on this ridiculous TikTok candy store hype. The store was tiny, overcrowded and absolutely terrible service. But the real zinger is 90% of the candy bins were empty as well as filthy. Bonbon should enjoy the business now because when customers get wise to just how lame it is the doors will permanently close. Sounds harsh but very true. If you want a real candy shop and not a temporary fad, try THE SWEET SHOP on East 73rd:)

wow after finals i realized that i once again had free will. i took the subway to bon bon because i wanted to get it for my family before i had to go back. holy i spent like $20 at bon bon again. this is so bad. but this time they didn't have ANY of the flavors i love. it was just gummy candy and i was sad. anyways i got a bit and the workers were nice and i was like i should be out doing more than just this. so then i searched up places nearby and turns out we were near an empanada mama and i wasn't gonna go with my friends again or else i wouldn't live it down. but i was CRAVINGGGGG the romeo and juliet so badly i think i was just missing guava tbh. 3.5 stars!!!

Good selection, great candy! There was not much of a line and it was easy to navigate to get what you wanted.

The shop was small so relatively crowded while we were there. The selection of candies was good but because of their gummy nature, hard to scoop with the utensils provided.

Today was my fourth trip to the Upper East Side location of Bonbons. I would recommend calling before you go, especially if you are seeking certain types of Swedish candy. The three times I have gone before they did not have the Tiktok viral Bubs. This Saturday they had most of the candy that I wanted to try and it was extremely fresh. The customer service was very good. I will definitely be returning in the near future.

Virtually no selection! Over 1/3 bins were empty! No chocolate! Wasn't impressed with the quality of what we did get! Over priced and poor selection. This is a TikTok fad!!!
