Yelp
Bonchon has come to Doral!
Located in a newer plaza in Doral, you can find parking for this location on the top of the roof. It was a bit confusing at first but thankful for the previous reviews on Yelp to help steer us in the right direction. Parking was super easy once we found it and there was both a elevator and stairs to get down to the first floor.
This Bonchon is new and we were excited to grab a bite to eat for dinner here. The locations I've been to previously were all more of a restaurant-style, while this one seemed to be more of a fast casual concept. The space itself is small but has a good amount of seating and is bright and clean.
We ordered with a staff member who was friendly but we felt a bit rushed to order. We probably should've just grabbed a menu and took a seat to look it over or maybe even ordered at the kiosks. When we were ordering, we got a side of seasoned fries and when we were placing our order, the staff member "took the liberty" to make it a meal for us. When we questioned it, because we didn't really want a fountain drink, she said it was the same price of $4.99 to get it as a meal versus just getting the fries, so we agreed. We found out it was $1 extra for the seasoned fries, which in the grand scheme of things isn't crazy, but we also didn't want the drink so we didn't love paying the extra dollar for that.
For chicken, they had options of wings, drumsticks (which cost significantly more) or mixed. My partner and I both don't love flats so we opted to get a mix. Little did we both know, the drumsticks are HUGE and the "wings" are actually just a mix of both flats and (small) drumsticks. This is something to note in case you didn't know like we didn't.
We also ordered a Mopo Corn Dog and after taking a while to come out, the center of it was pretty cold. These corn dogs are known to have that cheese pull but when we attempted, we just got a chunk of cold cheese. We saw another table complain about their center being cold so we made sure to check before biting into it and it was definitely cold. After asking the staff about it, they took the corn dog back and ended up offering us complimentary donuts instead saying that their fryers were acting up so they didn't want to make a new corn dog. We're thankful for the switch but it was weird because, although they told us they didn't want to make new corn dogs, everyone around us was still getting new corn dogs throughout the time we dined there.
For the fries we ordered, it was actually a pretty small portion for what we paid $4.99 for and it wasn't our favorite, taste-wise. Overall, the food was just okay. We got the classic soy garlic for the wings and it was pretty heavy on the soy making it too salty. This paired with the interesting interactions with staff made for an okay experience.
