We are old customer of this place when we use to live in Teaneck area, their menu options expanded tremendously it used to be a simple Korean fried chicken and we love it, but now it's so much options and the quality of their chicken went off even their French fries, the chicken wings is not as crispy anymore and their fries is saggy and lacking of spices and what happen to the special mayo that comes with it? Now you have to pay extra $ for the sauces, the coleslaw sides taste old and bad, it got so expensive and taste got bad, sadly say that bonchon is not our favorite anymore but hey my kids still enjoyed the bubble tea.

Would not come again. I usually love Korean soy garlic fried chicken, but this was not very tasty. The chicken came out hot and fresh, but it was dry and not super crispy. The fries tasted unsalted. Overall, it was unsatisfying.

This has to be the worst Bonchon we have ever been in terns of taste and freshness. I'm a big fan of Korean fried Chicken and just knew I had to give this place a try. Got the two lunch special combos and wings and drumsticks with their signature soy garlic sauce. The order was ready in less than twenty minutes. It was the taste that was the problem. The chicken was not fresh...and had some old chicken taste if you know what I mean. The skin was not crunchy like it should be and that sauce was awful. Salty!!! And none of that garlickyflavor like it should have. I honestly feel like I got scammed of my money. We never, ever throw out Korean fried chicken in our home, but had to throw away most of the chicken since it was just awful. I'm staying away from this place.

Still waiting on a response from customer service for a refund. Instead of receiving boneless wings we were given what appeared to be chicken nuggets covered in the sauce. This is the third time this has happened at the Hackensack, NJ location where we did not receive Bonchon’s boneless wings. I would greatly appreciate it if this location could mark boneless wings as out of stock when it’s unavailable rather than substituting it with a less satisfactory alternative. I have no issue with choosing something else to order off the menu.

if you want to taste cleaning supplies while eating here, then by all means. Ate here, & 1 worker sprayed down tables right next to us before her shift ended. Didn't want to come off rude & call the young girl out, but why would you spray down the table right next to customers eating. It wasn't even busy either, so she could've waited. The smell was so strong, that's literally all we smelled until finishing our meal. Have some common sense.

Google
I tried this location because I was in the area. I’ve heard great things about the chain. I was excited to try the fried chicken drums and unfortunately was very disappointed. The chicken was fried very well, but had absolutely no taste. It seemed like whoever fried it skipped seasoning it. I plan to try a different location. On a different note, the place was clean, and the staff were friendly.

I try my best to leave reviews at every place I eat at. I always have the garlic soy wings or mix, I've eaten at this chain plenty of times! One in Orlando, Leonia, NYC, and of course Hackensack. I was really excited to hear about them opening a place up really close to where I live, I've been here a few times and it's not TERRIBLE but there are some things to note when ordering. The breading is AMAZING, ALWAYS has been crunchy when I order my meal. The sauce and the crust are really the star of the show here, but if I'm being honest the sauce is really what has me coming back for more. My only gripe is that there is literally never enough! When ordering through doordash or uber there is not an option for extra sauce, so if you want it you have to call in or go there in person. Kinda wish it was something you'd get without having to ask, the sauce is literally gold and they sure are acting like it! When it comes to the chicken itself though, it's relatively flavorless, can't really tell when it's covered in sauce which is why I like it so much. The employees have never really seemed to be that friendly kind of like a they'd look at you in a confused way if you ask them about their day. My biggest problem with the place is that their food is expensive as hell. It's around $17 for just 10 wings and it takes you over $30 if you want double that. I think there needs to be an adjustment to pricing but overall not bad!! It's all in the sauce!

Google
I recently ordered 100 wings for a 20 person party. And I had to ask for plates and napkins which I just assumed would come with such a larger order. Boy was I so wrong. While I asked for plates and napkins when I was in store ---the manager repeated my question so I took as rhetorical and simply left. It was almost like how dare I ask for plates and napkins after ordering 100 wings. The food is decent but the customer service could be so much better. Also, although it says their opened until 9 PM, they close the kitchen at 8:30 PM and stop taking orders so don't be fooled, be sure to get your order in atleast 1 hour before closing or you'll be disappointed. Not a bad price for 100 wings $$ so I'll label them affordable. Give this place a try but lower your expectations as far as customer service.

Yelp
Craving Korean fried chicken, I stopped by Bonchon in Hackensack and grabbed a 10-piece wings half-and-half--soy garlic and yangnyeom--plus sides of rice, coleslaw, and pickled radish. The soy garlic was a hit, so much so that my 1.5-year-old son polished them off himself (pretty sure that's the ultimate stamp of approval). The chicken was crispy, well-coated, and packed with flavor. The yangnyeom had that perfect sweet-and-spicy kick, while the soy garlic was savory and addictive. Rice was fluffy, the coleslaw was creamy and fresh, and the pickled radish was the perfect palate cleanser. It's in a plaza with plenty of parking, and picking up my order was easy. I didn't realize how big their menu is--definitely going back to try more dishes beyond the fried chicken they're famous for. Great takeout option and family-friendly flavors.

Yelp
Located in a strip mall so parking isn't an issue. Lots of ads on the door front and inside which is a tad overwhelming since I couldn't focus on the actual menu. I find that tacky but I have OCD so that's a personal thing. Workers took my orders nice and easy. No complaints there. Brought our orders to the table which is nice considering it's a fast food kinda place. Spacious place, plenty of tables to eat in but nothing fancy. We had 3 orders from the lunch special. 2 of the boneless wings (spicy and Korean bbq) and mixed wings (soy garlic) The soy garlic will always be my fav. It's sweet and a bit tangy and I'll always feel like wings have so much more flavor. Def had a good batter mix. Sticky and messy as wings shall be! Also tried the Korean tacos (bulgogi) which the guys said was super tasty. The only complaint I had? After waiting 5-10 mins? They never brought out my drinks so we had to go ask for it and they had it sitting in the back. Place was empty so they def wasn't too busy with others. Simply forgot. Hmmm cool cool.... I guess? lol the Yuzi was nice and refreshing with bits of Yuzi mixed in. The mango bubble tea didn't taste overly sweet even with the popping strawberry balls. I'll come back and try the new flavor which I saw way too late cz the menu kept flicking every few seconds. Which was overwhelming as heck! It was aggravating my Tourette. Let's calm that baby down haha

Yelp
Good Korean fast food. Garlic soy wings are the stand out. The pork belly buns are also very good. They also have rice and noodles bowls. Service is quick.

Esther L.

Yelp
Cheesy beef bulgogi rice was so so good. Super flavorful and memorable. Decent price around $13, would get again! Surprisingly the boneless chicken and fries weren't as good as others I've had before. Not as crunchy as I would've liked but still decent flavor. Fries were not the best at all, the beef bulgogi saved the day so much Service was super friendly though and gave small business vibes which was great. Decent sized dining area

Yelp
Got the lunch special combo 4 Wings and 2 drums . It was $11.xx with tax. Came with one side, and I went with rice. The chicken was very crunchy. The sauce wasn't bad either. It was most soy, I didn't get any garlic taste from it.

Yelp
First time at this location. Staff was friendly and nice. I didn't have to wait long. I got the spicy wings which are spicy spicy so only get if you can handle it! Very crispy on the outside but tender and juicy on the inside just like how it should be. I got the strawberry bubble tea that was a perfect refreshing beverage for after the meal. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
It's been forever since I last visited Bonchon. My partner and I stopped here on Sunday for lunch. It was not busy at all when we arrived. The girl at the desk was friendly, but the second staff could have been more professional when giving service. She didn't say anything rude but her demeanor was unpleasant. We ordered 3 meals. Some wings were smaller than I had before. I didn't feel 15 dollars for 10 wings was not a good deal. The Japchae portion was way too small for 15 dollars and barely any meat. The taste was good but the portion was disappointing. The takoyaki was good. My partner wished they were crisper. It's not a place we would visit often. Only when we're in a mood or they have a good deal

Yelp
I love BonChon fried chicken, but they are definitely not all the same. I was so excited when I learned a BonChon would be opening so close to me. However, each time I've ordered food here it's been disappointing. Either the chicken is too dry and hard, not enough sauce, or something else. When I order Korean fried chicken, I'm expecting the crispiest double fried chicken with so much flavor. The last time I ordered their chicken strips they were super chewy and almost slimy. I couldn't even finish them because the consistency was grossing me out. The dumplings I ordered had no flavor. Just very disappointing overall. The food here is very inconsistent. The only thing I like about this location is that they do curbside pick up. Other than that I would rather just go drive a little further to the other BonChon locations or another Korean fried chicken spot in the area.

Yelp
The location is right by 99 Ranch and Home Depot, so there's a few places to stop by in this one trip. They were all very friendly upon walking in and ordering. We got the half/half wings- honestly I will never eat a spicy one again. The complimentary pickled radishes were a real life saver. It's just too damn spicy! Some people love to sweat but I'd rather stick with the sweet crispy mild soy garlic. We got an order of regular fries, kind of basic so nothing spectacular. I would go for the seasoned fries next time or just more wings. However, the Korean tacos with bulgolgi were pretty upsetting. There wasn't much meat and it was pretty burnt. The taco itself was cold too. Overall, decent experience. I've been to other Bonchons where the wait is over 20 minutes, but they were relatively fast given the nature of how the wings are cooked. There's unfortunately no indoor seating so we just feasted in our car instead. The (soy garlic) wings are just that good that you have to eat it immediately.

Yelp
Ordered takeout from here with my family. The wings are bomb! Beware- the spicy is pretty spicy so I recommend you order half soy garlic to alternate and not kill your tastebuds. Both are tasty! I love the Crispiness of the skin! Seasoned fries were also very tasty! Note: I ordered the octopus dumplings and although they sounded good when ordering I could not eat them. The fishy smell that came out of the container when I opened it really gave me nausea. You may be thinking- duh it's octopus! But this did not smell right. I did not take any chances and did not eat it. Everything else was really good! If you want wings and fries, order from here!

Yelp
This is my second time here and I'm in LOVE! The soy garlic chicken is to die for. I have tasted their wings and steamed rice with chicken. They did not disappoint. The restaurant itself is clean. You can dine in or takeout. Would definitely recommend. PS...THEY HAVE A LUNCH MENUUUUUU

Rashanda S.

Yelp
Haven't had Bonchon is a few months .. food has always been good until last nite .. the drums are enormous!!! It looks weird .. too weird to eat .. the wings were still ok but I would never get the drums again if I decide to go back.

Yelp
Bonchon Chicken is a South Korean-based international fried chicken restaurant franchise. According to the company, Bonchon is a Korean word meaning "My Hometown". They have their new location in Hackensack right behind the shops at Riverside mall in the same complex as Home Depot and Staples. Great lunch specials and super friendly. You can call or text your order in. Allow 15 minutes or so for them to fill your order because they prepare and cook the chicken fresh as the orders come in. Cheers
google avatar

Jia-Lian L.

Yelp
Overpriced. I got the fried boneless wings small. It was 17 dollars for 12 small pieces. It should have been $10 for the size. The meat was okay and it was crispy but it definitely wasn't anything special. If you can, go to bb.q chicken for boneless Korean fried chicken. Cheaper, bigger, juicier and better flavors.

Yelp
Food is amazing, love their lunch specials. Problem is ordering with app or online. I specifically said pickup at 1:55. I got a text at 1:30 your order is ready. I got there at 1:55 sat in the car and ate my warm/cold French fries and cool/cold chicken. Best part of Korean Chicken is how crispy it is when it's hot and fresh. It lost that when it sat there for 25 minutes. Would highly recommend if you are gonna walk in and order but don't trust the app when it asks for a pick up time or you'll be highly disappointed with some decent cold food when you know how amazing and crispy it would be hot and fresh. Sorry Bon Chon, it was not a great performance today. Either the app is broken or the people at the store just don't pay attention to the pick up time. Funny thing is, I set the time to 1:55, the earliest I could set a pick up for was 1:50 but yet my food was ready and waiting starting at 1:30.

Yelp
Bonchon is great! Being a huge fan of hot wings, I've often said that breading chicken wings is an assault against poultry. I still stand by that statement, but places like this are an exception to the rule where they are doing something different. In fact, I would offer the suggestion not to get the spicy wings here because they just don't taste as good. The garlic wings are amazing. Whatever the case, there are great options on the menu that you will find and enjoy. Not a cheap option really, but a tasty one, and so far my experience has been that it is consistent from one place to the next within the Bonchon chain. Go (or order delivery) and enjoy!

Cris C.

Yelp
Lunch specials are great except for the regular order of 3 drumsticks with Korean donut for $11.99. One of the drumsticks was very small and dried up, so it was sitting around too long or overcooked until dried out. I am disappointed that they would serve such a dried out chewy drumstick to customer since it was obviously different from the other two fresher drumsticks. It was like they were dumping bad food in the take-out orders. If you get the chicken plains, there is no seasoning on the chicken coating, so it is very bland without sauces.
google avatar

Crystal H.

Yelp
Friend recommended this place so I decided to give this place a try! The spicy fried chicken was awesome but their soy garlic fried chicken was mouthwatering good! Came around 1 pm so we had to wait awhile before we got our food. The place is pretty popular so the line DOES get long at lunchtime. Would definitely be back to get more of that fried chicken! ^v^

Yelp
This location can be a hit or miss depending on what time you order. I've come in person on a Friday night, and I've had to verify my order about 3 times before being able to take it. Ordering through Uber Eats or DoorDash always comes warm and fresh. The portions are generous, and the lunch menu is a great deal. However, I find the chicken to be sauced a little less than usual, which I don't like. The potstickers are yummy, and my personal non traditional favorite are the sliders! Sometimes the food will come ventilated, sometimes it won't. So you may be eating soggy food. Customer service isn't very warm and friendly here either. It's great for a quick fix, but I prefer Bonchon Lodi or Bonchon Midland Park.

Tom G.

Yelp
Oh, the service here is excellent, I was a walk-in because I don't need another app on my phone. I ordered the mix of Soy Garlic and Plain Chicken wings and drumsticks with the coleslaw for the side. I Came back 15 minutes later and it's ready to go. both the soy and plain chicken were cooked to perfection and fully surrounded with a deliciously tasting coating, Fried on the outside but cooked and still tenderly moist on the inside. The coleslaw was good too, tasted like KFC but dryer.
google avatar

Yelp
the spicy has a real kick! be prepared for a bit of a wait if you don't order ahead, think 15 mins. Going here makes a the home depot trip more bearable. also, there's a 99 ranch here in this shopping plaza for your asian grocery and prepared food needs.
google avatar

Louren G.

Yelp
Worst bonchon location I've had. Every time I've ordered here the food always tastes off. Especially if you have shellfish allergies, stay away, everything tastes like it was cooked with shrimp.
google avatar

Rion C.

Yelp
The Bonchon had just opened in the shopping center where the Ranch 99 Asian grocery store is located. Due to the Covid19 precautions, the restaurant had only a table or two outside for eating. Inside, they provided you with plastic gloves to use to handle eating the wings. The staff was courteous and prompt in taking your order. Friendly fast service is always appreciated. The chicken was delicious and there are no complaints.
google avatar

Marieben S.

Yelp
My go to fast food Korean. Love the bao buns! I always order at least 2 orders for me and I am full. Their chicken is always a hit with my kiddos.
google avatar

Garnell S.

Yelp
I am a HUGE fan of Bon Chon and will travel for these yummy wings. When I found out that a location was going to be practically walking distance from my home - couldn't wait to order - and today I did. WHAT A COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT! The wings weren't even seasoned but I was starving and ate them anyway, but the fries were not edible, took a pic of those, below. Just how they look are how they tasted - like fries left out overnight and re-fried. I will never come to this location again - I will take the drive and go to another.
google avatar

C T.

Yelp
Picked up chicken wings and fries twice and we loved it! Solid service too. I have nothing to complain about :)
google avatar

Wen Na Z.

Yelp
This location is perfectly situated in the same plaza as Hackensack's Home Depot and 99 ranch. I recently relocated to Bergen County, so whenever we go to Home Depot, we make sure to order some chicken from Bonchon. The chicken here is always so fresh and cooked to perfection. Our go-to order is their soy garlic wings and their chicken buldak. The staff are always friendly and welcoming even during the pandemic.

Eve N.

Yelp
I usually have Bonchon in Manhattan Koreatown but it has been years since I have had it. I was shopping at the supermarket in the complex and saw this Bonchon. I placed an order for the medium bone-in soy garlic wings. The price was a bit steep. The chicken was sufficiently crispy but I thought the sauce tasted a tad bit on the strong garlic side. Overall, it was still OK and satisfied my craving. The service was quick. The cashier wasn't too friendly but answered my question about the sign they had posted about their new BBQ sauce.
google avatar

Nikko C.

Yelp
Love the food always fresh! The people are kind Ave to their best to get orders out quickly.

Rosita P.

Yelp
Delicious and always fresh. My particular favorite is the fried rice. It's not your average fried rice from your local Chinese place. This one is flavorful and never greasy nor overly salty. Perfection!
google avatar

Pauline S.

Yelp
Satisfies your Korean fried chicken craving. No complaints about the food and I think the lunch special is a good deal ($9 for 8 wings and rice). However, I wanted to write a review because my experience today was upsetting. I placed an order over the phone and went to the store to pick it up. I gave my name, but the cashier looked worried because they didn't see my name on any of the receipts. I gave my phone number for them to look for, but they weren't paying attention to me and went to the kitchen to ask about my order. When they came back, they asked for my number and what I ordered. I answered and they were still preparing it (I don't mind having to wait a bit). The problem I had was when the cashier said "you gave me a different name - Kylie" I said "no...I said 'Pauline' haha" -- like hello!!! Why would I give a random name over the phone and then use a different name when picking up my food T_T It really rubbed me the wrong way because afterwards, when they gave me the receipt to sign they said "here just sign this, Kylie - I mean Pauline." I felt like they were blaming me for mishearing my name over the phone, instead of just saying they wrote down the wrong name and moving on. It's not a big deal, but it really bothered me with how the cashier handled the situation :(

Yelp
Dry chicken. Dry rice. Dry dry dry food! Dry chicken. Dry rice. Dry dry dry! I need six more characters to make this post but I can't say anything more the just DRY!
google avatar

Hillary B.

Yelp
I've come here for the lunch special a couple of times and I think it's good, though the wings are on the small side. I do recommend the fries over the rice, only because the rice is plain. And the kimchi coleslaw is actually really good-tastes more like kimchi than coleslaw
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
Be careful you don't get dry chicken. My order was over cooked. The manager explained double frying. I have had this chicken 100 times and it's never been dry.
google avatar

Ellen G.

Yelp
They have good fried rice. But their bibimbaps are not worth the price at all. I paid $18 for a bulgogi bibimbap with kimichi on the side. The fried egg was cold, there was no sauce included, it lacked in overall flavor. It was just not a good bibimbap.
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
I've had many Korean fried chicken before, and I'm sorry to say, this was the worst. The chicken was SO dry and hard! You can tell it's been sitting there for so long and been refried. It's so disappointing!
google avatar

Yanoh J.

Yelp
Very friendly staff but I was not impressed with this location. The chicken was very under seasoned, as were the fries. I will definitely give it another try - but I was very disappointed.
google avatar

Karen I.

Yelp
We found a nail in our wings The only good thing about it, is that they gave us a full refund. Also, seems like they aren't using the small wings anymore. The wings seem so large now.

Yelp
Got takeout a couple weeks ago and I had been to three different Bonchon locations in California prior to this so I had some high expectations. I'm glad to say that it was just as good as I had hoped! The chicken had the perfect amount of crispiness and the level of spice for the spicy wings were perfect. To describe it, I would probably say its approx. 7x the level of hot cheetos. Its nice to order half and half spicy and soy garlic to balance out the flavors. The takoyaki was pretty good too. The octopus was a little overcooked but the flavors were pretty on point. The bubble tea was something that I wanted to try, as it's a new thing that wasnt offered when I used to live in California. Sadly it wasn't very good. I got the Black Milk Tea and it was overpoweringly sugary, which I should have asked for less sweetness in hindsight, as I usually get 30-50% sugar when I order bubble tea in Kungfu Tea and Sharetea etc. And the pearls were so soft they practically melted into the drink. Overall, I would go here for the chicken and the takoyaki but definitely not for the bubble tea.

Yelp
Let me start by saying I am not a newbie to Bonchon. I usually get it from the Fort Lee or Leonia location. I was at a store nearby the Hackensack location and saw that they were newly opened so I placed an order. I was expecting the usual 25-30 min wait but thought something must be wrong after the 45 minute mark. Especially since everyone else had come and gone. When I asked the cashier her response was a sound / word that sounded like "ehhh." I finally got my food after 50 minutes. There was no apology or offer of any small service item to at least make me feel better. The chicken was not as crispy light as usual and the spicy even had soft chewy skin which Korean fried chicken doesn't usually have. I usually don't even write bad reviews but this was upsetting. I hope this was just because they're new but I don't think I'll be coming back to this location.
google avatar

Daniel V.

Yelp
I'm a fan of Korean fried chicken. Have tried Boom Boom and other privately-owned shops, but I think Bonchon is the better 'chain' Korean fried chicken. They also have other Korean/Asian Fusion options like rice/noodle bowls, katsu, potstickers, calamari, etc. As far as the chicken goes, I go for soy-garlic wings. There have been reviews for other Bonchon locations that say the wings are small. I don't feel that they are. I also get their seasoned fries that come with a spicy mayo dip. Once you've tried Korean-style fried chicken and how crispy & crunchy the skin is, it's hard to go back to regular wings. Good job Bonchon! Glad to see you guys opening more locations!
google avatar

Annie H.

Yelp
Look at these wings!! This location is my go to chicken shop, their chicken is always high quality and the soy garlic flavor is my favorite flavor. I recommend getting their popcorn shrimp as well, it's delicious dipped in the spicy mayo sauce. The staff is very nice, they always greet me at the door!

Seokwoo L.

Yelp
Bonchon is one of the best fried chicken places I've ordered from. There's a simple menu with friend chicken, bibimbap, etc. I opted for the small fried chicken with soy garlic, Takoyaki and U-don. That was a good choice. I was very satisfied while eating. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the surroundings are very pleasant. How is place was rated anything less than 5 stars is baffling to me.
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
As a Korean I've eaten a lot of Korean fried chicken and know when a place does it right. Bonchon Hackensack fries and seasons the chicken well so it's crispy and flavorful until the last bite. I'll definitely come back when I need some bonchon in my life.

Joan M.

Yelp
Manager refunded the cost of our meal, Thank you, but stick to the fried chicken in the future.
google avatar

Dom R.

Yelp
I'm done coming here. Big Mistake in blaming the customer, you won't even let me talk to you on the phone let alone understand what I was trying to tell you. You didnt listen to me when i said just rice and egg. I'm done coming here last time it was a problem you didn't hear me the first time the last time about two orders that you only gave me one. Then blame me for not listening. I'm not coming here anymore and dealing with the aggravation. If you're not gonna take the time to listen to your customers don't take time to serve people. Keep telling your customers to screw off you're gonna get less customers. People gonna read the reviews especially since I'm in elite. See how far ratings go down. Learn to deal with customers and stop blaming them. Ill be going to midland park from now on. But I got the order it looks horrible guessing I'm not eating dinner tonight thanks a lot for ruining my night. Nice try remaking it but you apparently put anger into my meal because It's disgusting not eating it now.

Yelp
Highly recommend the soy garlic and spicy wings here. I've tried out the fries and popcorn chicken here as well and I can vouch that they are absolutely amazing.

I ordered food to go during COVID. I had to bring my 5 month baby to pick up the food. When we got there, they said that I cancelled my order. I was like "No I didn't. I drove 20 minutes to get here. Now that I'm here, you're saying you don't have my order?" She said "We'll put the order in now." I asked if I can speak with a manager to get a discount or comped meal for their mistake. She said she is the manager and I have to pay full price & wait for the food. The fact that she failed to please the upset customer then didn't reimburse us shows horrible customer service. I've been in the food industry & worked for many restaurants before. I know how the system works. We order from them all the time. They just lost our business. Never again... smdh
